LONG TIME AGO in a far away land, there lived a handsome man named Shadek. His bestfriend was a bird.

This bird was very close to him that whenever he felt lonely, he would also felt the same! Wherever he go, his bestfriend bird would always go with him and sit on top of his shoulder.

One day, Shadek went to the valley to visit Marwa, the beautiful lady whom he was deeply inlove with.

"When will you say yes to me, Marwa?" asked Shadek in a very gentle voice!

Marwa smiled at him and said...

"Ummmm... okey, i will answer you if you can pick me a red rose the next time you visit me.." she said seriously...

But it happend that there were no red roses that grows everywhere. Shadek became so sad, thinking he might lost his lady love if he failed to bring her red rose as she requested.

The bird saw how lonely Shadek was! This time he couldn't resist staring at his hopeless bestfriend without thinking of a way to help him. Without his consent the bird flew to the lowland and rested on the branches of white roses. Now he draw near to the thorns and courageously pierced his breast! The drop of his blood made the petals colored red.

One morning, Shadek decided to take a walk and happend to pass by the garden which has full of different flowers!

"Finally, there it is!!! The red rose i'm searching for." he exclaimed with joy upon sighting it.

But as he came closer, there he saw the bird lying lifeless on the ground!

Tears dripped down from his eyes as he saw his bestfriend covered with his own blood.

"Oh my poor bestfriend, why did you do this to yourself?" he cried in so much pity.

With full of grief, he took the bird into his arms and hugged it. He was so touched with the great sacrifice he did for him... Now his bestfriend was gone and there's nothing he could do than to accept the reality.

The next day, again Shadek made a visit to his lady love to give the red rose as he had promised.

"Hi Marwa! Look, i picked you a fresh beautiful red rose", he said with a smile on his face.

"Now, can i have your sweet yes?" he asked.

Marwa looked closely at the red rose and she found out that it wasn't real...

"Hmmm, i think this red rose is a fake one, where did you get this?" Marwa asked him.

"I know we have no red roses that grows in our land, but i hardly searched for that! Only for you, Marwa! Because i love you and i will do anything just for you, " he said.

"Now, are you going to say yes to me already?"

Marwa turned to him and said...

"'I'm sorry, Shadek!"

"But you promised me???" he insisted.

"Shadek, sometimes promises are made to be broken!!!"

Marwa throw the flower away and did not give importance to it.

If she could only knew how much sacrifice the bird did to take his own life in order to satisfy her wants.

Poor Shadek, after he lost his bestfriend, now he lost his lady loved!

There will be no greater sacrifice than this...! That someone will lay down his own life just for a friend! The bird in the story is an image of a person who is always true to his friend up to his last breath. His main motive is to make his friend happy evenif it means sacrificing his own life.

On the other hand, the bird in the story also, resembles JESUS and the lady resembles MANKIND. Jesus laid down his own life for our salvation..., but most of us dont even care about the greatest sacrifice He did for us... Instead, we kept on offending Him again and again with our sinful ways!
