Snow Storm
October
The closer the train got to Tokyo, the heavier the snow fell. I wasn't even sure what the feeling was inside of me. The closest I could describe was like the morning of a presentation day or the feeling of being in a waiting room for an interview.
Should I bring snacks with me? Is he only bringing me out here to embarrass me? Does he like me?
I sat alone with my thoughts the whole way there, trying to blast music to prevent me from thinking but it was to no avail. Eventually, after what felt like a lifetime, I got to the train station. I disembarked the train, looking around desperately for Kuroo. I must've looked lost, people were muttering under their breath as they rushed quickly by me, probably on their way home from work.
"Is it possible to grow shorter in two months?"
I turned around to see the face I had spent so much of my time thinking about, "Hi!"
He smirked, grabbing my hand, "You're making all the Karen's annoyed by standing in the middle of the platform, let's get out of here."
---
I was somewhat shocked that he'd decided to hold my hand, seeing as I was sweating like I had been running a marathon.
"What's got you so nervous, (Y/N)? Am I much more attractive than you remember?"
"Are you serious?" I giggled, punching his side as we stood outside of the large train station. "You obviously know why I'm nervous."
He sighed, "Yeah. Don't feel that way, though."
"Oh yeah, cause that helps."
"Shut up," he laughed, tussling my hair, "Please don't feel bad. I understand what happened. I wanted to see you in person because I wanted to tell you this."
"Tell me what?" I looked up at him, confusedly.
"That I like you too."
People whizzed by us like we were in some sort of music video. I couldn't help but stare at his half-lidded, smiling face. Was this even real?
"Y-You do?" I stuttered, looking back down to the cement.
He chuckled at my awkwardness, "Didn't I make it obvious enough on our date?"
I sighed, thinking back to the day. He was pretty forward to be fair, "I just thought you were like that with all girls. I didn't know you were genuinely interested."
His smiling demeanour faltered for a second, "I don't talk to other girls the way I talk to you. Now, come on, do you want to come to my place?"
I blushed profusely, "You couldn't have chose better wording?!"
"Don't be such a prude, are you coming or are you content with just going to go back home knowing that we both like each other and did nothing about it?"
I placed my hand in his outstretched palm, "Fine. But don't be weird."
"No promises."
---
We walked to Kuroo's house, talking about all the stuff we hadn't been able to in a few weeks. He told me that Nekoma also got into nationals which he was thrilled about and I was so happy for him. He also mentioned something about beating up Hinata because he was the reason we hadn't been able to talk in so long, but I tried to brush it off.
"I missed that," Kuroo said randomly in the middle of our discussion.
"Missed what?"
"Your smile," he looked down shyly as he said it.
Butterflies filled the pit of my stomach but I brushed it to the side, "Is this what serious flirting is?"
He laughed, "What do you even mean?! I've always flirted with you seriously."
"Yeah, but that one was like...deep."
"Deep?"
"Yeah, deep."
"Hm. Okay, is that a bad thing?"
"Just something I'm totally not used to."
He stopped us in our tracks, forcing me to look at him, "Give it time and you will be. We're here."
I looked to my left and saw his house, "You have a nice house," I winked.
"Yeah, yeah, come on. Let's get in."
I stepped inside the cosy house, taking my shoes off. I noticed that there were no lights on at all, even though it was pretty dark outside.
"Is no one home?" I asked.
"Parents are on holiday this weekend. Sister's at college. They'll be back Sunday I think."
I turned around slowly, blushing, "Is this where you reveal you're a murderer and that's why you invited me here?"
He laughed, hitting me lightly on the back and showing me to the living room, "Do you really think I'm that kind of guy? Tell you what, next time my parents are in, I'll invite you up."
I sat and pondered for a minute, "Actually, I think that would make me more nervous. Did you plan this?"
Kuroo looked at me seriously, "Are you dense, (Y/N)? How could I have ever possibly planned that Hinata would give you my email on the exact day that my parents leave for vacation?"
I stayed silent for a while, "Yeah. I guess you're right."
I sat down on the couch as Kuroo went into the kitchen to grab some snacks. I took a moment to reflect on what the hell was even happening. This time yesterday, I was with Oikawa. Now I was sitting here, in Kuroo's living room.
"Lost in thought?" he questioned, setting down some plates of snacks on the coffee table.
"A little. Sorry."
"Don't be, idiot. I thought we could maybe marathon Attack on Titan seeing as we only got to like the start of season two."
I smiled, totally remembering falling asleep with him on FaceTime watching the show, "Sounds amazing."
"Cool. But I kinda wanna talk with you about something first." he stated, but he framed it as more of a question.
"Yeah, anything."
"I'm not gonna beat around the bush. Do you still like Oikawa?"
I was a tad taken back with his bluntness, but I couldn't blame him, "No, not one bit."
"Okay. Why did you kiss him then?"
I sighed, "To be technical, he did kiss me. I just didn't react. I kind of let it happen, I guess? I don't even know. I was feeling so hurt by everything. I thought it would help but I know it didn't, and I kind of regretted it instantly. I'm really sorry for hurting you, Kuroo."
He smiled, placing his fingers underneath my chin, "Don't be sorry. I get why he did it. It's something I've wanted to do for a long time."
My emotions were swarming in my stomach. I wanted to just lean in and full-on make out with him right there but it didn't feel right still. "M-Me too. I mean! Kiss you, is what I mean."
He took his fingers away, chuckling heavily, "You're the most awkward girl I've ever met, you know that?"
I looked to the floor, "I'm sorry. I don't mean to be. I just don't know how to react when you make me feel like that."
"D-don't apologise, idiot," I looked over to Kuroo who was now blushing himself. He stood up to grab the remote and ready up our show.
We sat in comfortable silence, only talking whenever Kuroo was confused and I had to explain something or when I wanted to rewind a scene because I thought I'd noticed something that I hadn't seen before. My mind did keep faltering back the moment with his hand on my chin, though.
We were a good few episodes in and it was getting really late outside.
"We should make this the last one," Kuroo said, glancing outside the window, "Don't want you getting home too late."
I nodded, "You're ending it on one hell of a cliff-hanger, but sure."
We sat quietly watching the rest of the episode, and when I knew what was about to happen, I turned my gaze to Kuroo, who was sitting really close to me on the couch. His eyes visibly widened as he witnessed the top anime betrayal of all time.
"IT WAS HIM!?" He yelled in my ear, grabbing my shoulders and shaking me, "THEY DID IT?! YOU'RE FUCKING KIDDING ME! Oh my god!"
I giggled at his adorable reaction, "It's so fucked up, isn't it?"
"Fucked up isn't even the words! What the hell?! I want to watch more!"
I tapped him on the nose, "What happened to getting me home?"
He sighed and threw himself back on the couch, "Can't we just stay like this forever?"
As much as I wanted to, the temptation was too great and I knew if I didn't stand up right then I probably would've did something stupid. My eyes cascaded down his body, his shirt had slightly lifted from his sudden action, revealing a small section of skin I tried so hard not to focus on, "Come on, it's freezing outside so layer up."
Kuroo looked out to the window where the snow was laying, "It's getting really heavy, you did wear boots didn't you?" I nodded, grabbing my coat and shoes and getting ready to head out.
The snow was super heavy, so much so that every step I took, my boots were being engulfed.
"You alright there, tiny?" Kuroo laughed at my struggling attempts to walk in a straight line.
"Just fine, thanks!" I replied, passive-aggressively. Kuroo giggled at my annoyance.
What should've been a short walk to the station turned into a pretty long one, but we made it there in the end. It was significantly quieter than when we were there earlier. A member of staff was waiting inside the train station directly in front of the doors.
"Hi, are you travelling on platform 12 or 13?" the employee asked as we entered.
"Yeah, her train is on platform 13," Kuroo replied for me.
"Oh, I'm really sorry. All trains have been cancelled for those platforms due to the weather conditions. We have maintenance working on the tracks but it doesn't look like they'll be running again until tomorrow morning."
I stared at the employee in shock, not really knowing what to do.
"Okay, no worries. We'll be back in the morning," Kuroo smiled and took my hand and walked me back out of the station.
"K-Kuroo! Wait! How the hell am I going to get home?!" I said exasperatedly.
"You'll just have to stay at mine. We can call your parents and let them know."
"Y-You're saying that like it's the easiest thing in the world! There's no way in hell that my dad would let me stay alone with a guy overnight," I replied, panic starting to set in, "I practically ran away from home today! They don't even know I'm in Tokyo, and they certainly won't be happy if I tell them that I'm staying overnight too!"
He giggled at my outburst, "Don't panic so much, (Y/N)! Your parents will understand. There's a full on snow storm. I can talk to them on the phone if it will be any better?"
"I'm pretty sure that would make things worse."
He sighed, "I mean, you could just leave them hanging and worried about you all night," Kuroo stated.
"I'm obviously not going to do that," I sighed, knowing I had to suck it up, "I'll phone them when we get back to yours. If it's okay that I stay with you, of course."
"Of course, I'll even cook for you," he smirked.
"You're trying to tell me that you can cook?"
"Wow, I'm actually offended by that, (Y/N). We can drop by the store on the way home and I'll pick up some stuff to make. You're welcome to help, of course."
Guess it's a sleepover, then.
