The Lost Call
With trembling hands I reach for my phone and quickly dial a well-known number. I needed help, advice and encouragement. No one could give that better than my dear mother. As the phone begins to ring I start to relax. Before long she will answer and I can pour out my long and horrible day. The phone rings longer than it should and panic sets in. Finally a voice speaks, a cold and uncaring robotic voice. "The voice mailbox has not been set up yet. Please hang up or try again." Click!
Who do you cling to in an emergency? A parent? Friend? Sibling? When the urge and desire to hear a certain voice sets in, our hopes are dashed quicker and harder when the person is unavailable.
Phones can lose service or die, letters can get lost in the mail, emails can go to spam and are deleted. Facebook is (in my opinion) just words typed and no emotions or love. Communication has expanded its horizons so much but with growth comes dissapointment.
Wouldn't it be great to have a friend who is always close by? Who needs no phone or wifi to reach? Always there, always listening? Always cares? Well my friend, God is that exact person. No lost calls, no voice mail. Just a prayer away, anywhere, anytime.
Do you have this relationship with God? If not you can, this very day.
Today is the day of salvation!
