A couple days ago, my mom and I were at church. We had finished doing some cleaning and were on the way back to the office. We cut through the grass and on our way, we found a baby bird. It was chirping and was clearly hungry. My idea was to pick it up and care for it. But mom said we can't because once it is touched, the baby's mother won't recognize it and won't have anything to do with it. So sadly we did end up leaving it. But-

Christians are just like that baby bird. If we let the world touch us and imprint on us, then our relationship with God is broken until we make things right. Now don't get me wrong, God still loves us, but if we are not right in His eyes, there is a barrier.

If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me :

If we have sin in our lives, we have lost all communication with God.

The difference between that baby bird and us? The bird wouldn't have had a choice if I had picked it up and it would have to live (however short its life) with that consequence. We, on the other hand always have a choice in how close we allow the world to reach us. And if we do become spotted with sin, we are not stuck in that state. God is all about second chances.
