Chapter 20
After yesterday's realization, you decided you had to tell him. You knew that this was no longer a petty crush, no longer infatuation. But, Elliott had other ideas...
That morning you received a letter:
Y/N...
It began.
Meet me on the docks, I've fixed the boat that was beside my house and was wondering if you'd like to join me for a voyage.
Intrigued, you followed its instructions. You walked down to the beach. You found Elliott on the dock like he said. "Elliott I have somethi-" you were cut off by Elliott. He had turned to face you
"Hey," he said. He was standing by a docked boat. He turned to it and quickly glanced at you. "Look..." He murmured. "I fixed up that old rowboat that's been sitting by house." Is that where it went? you thought watching him. "Pretty nice, Huh?"
"Yeah, I guess," you murmured. Elliott was looking down at the boat and then he blushed slightly before turning to you.
"Y/N.... Would you do me the honour of joining me for her maiden voyage?" You nodded and Elliott smiled. "Ladies first." You got cautiously into the rickety boat.
"Is it safe?"
"I made sure it's safe," Elliott assured you, smiling. He got into the boat with you and took the oars. "Old-fashioned sure," he said. "But I have to move it somehow now don't I?" You giggled. You remained silent for most of the trip. Elliott stopped suddenly and put the oars in the boat.
"We're stopping?"
"Yes."
"But we're in the middle of nowhere!" Elliott didn't reply to that comment. You gazed at each other for a while before Elliott spoke.
"So... my book's been out for a while now... it's not a best-seller or anything, but it's been getting some good reviews from the critics..." I wonder if I'm one of those critics.. Elliott blushed again. "And I really couldn't have finished it without your moral support." He shook his head. "Actually, that's not true at all. I would've finished it either way, but... I am grateful that you believed in me... in my vision. And well...." he paused, you could tell that whatever he was about to say was hard to say. "Um... Y/N? How do I say this..." His already red cheeks turned redder. "Well," he began. "We've been friends for a while now... but I'm... I'm... not sure if I feel that way about you anymore." Before you could even speak he quickly added,"No! I'm not saying I want to cut all ties with you!" He glanced away. "In fact.... quite the opposite..." he paused again, cheeks growing ever redder. "...L-Let's see, how do I put this...?" You blinked feeling that question embedded in your sub-conscious bed itself in your conscious. Elliott smiled and glanced away. "For once I'm at a loss for words..." He leaned forward. Your mouths were barely touching and then, he moved his forward until they touched. You blinked and blushed scarlet and your body started shaking uncontrollably as excitement fizzed through you. Elliott broke off to say," Y/N? You're trembling."
"I'm just really h-happy," you stammered. He smiled.
"So am I..." he looked at the ocean. "Uh oh... the vibration of your body attracted the attention of a Crimsonfish... we'd better get out of here." You traveled back to the shore line. Elliott glanced around. "Look at the valley from here... it finally looks like 'home'." He sighed. "What a day...."
