Chapter 16

You awoke the next morning and stared at your roof. Your head was no longer pounding, and your senses had fixed themselves. You wondered why Elliott had seemed so relieved when you woke up from being unconscious you also wondered why he never left until he was sure you were okay. The thoughts didn't stay that long though. Then that question flashed in your mind again but you shook it away. Then a new thought entered. Why does he call me 'my flower' sometimes? You glanced at the door. You got out of bed and walked outside. You saw mail in the mailbox. Intrigued, you walked over to it. There was a letter from Elliott:

Hey Y/N,

How are you feeling? Anyways, I finished my book yesterday and was wondering if you'd like to come to a reading of that book. Actually no, scratch that, you have to come. I want you there. Anyway, see you there,

Elli.

You grinned and made a mental note. You closed the mailbox and walked back into your house. You put the note away and blushed. I should set aside some funds to buy the book, you thought. You walked back outside. You took in the sunshine. Fall is truly beautiful, you thought to yourself for maybe the fifth time. You wondered what genre the book would be, not that you minded. Any genre that was written by him would suffice. You gazed at the sky. You didn't want to miss Elliott's reading. You went about your day.

Later you walked to the library. Bracing yourself, you walked inside. You blinked, the whole town was here. You saw Maru, Penny, and even Sebastian. "Nice crowd," you said to yourself. You walked over to the man of the hour, Elliott, but as you got closer he walked to greet you.

"Y/N, you made it!" He said happily. He smiled at you. "And I feel so relieved to have finished my book," he paused, gazing at you. "It's like an elephant's been lifted off my shoulders."

"Well, I'm happy you finished it Elli," you said, grinning. He gazed around at the gathered. You had noticed he'd walked straight to you and not stopped to chat to Leah.

"I'd better get started with the reading... wish me luck!" He walked back to the center of the library. He looked at the gathered again. "Good afternoon, everyone," he said addressing the crowd. "Ever since I was a young boy, I've dreamt of becoming a writer. When the time came for me to leave home and start living on my own, I moved here. I was drawn to the peaceful beauty of the valley, and hoped that days of quiet reflection in this idyllic would fan the literary flames. After countless hours scribbling at my writing desk, I reveal to you my first book: 'Camellia Station'. It's a romance novel about a train stewardess who falls in love with a traveling architect. Chapter One." He started reading his book. And as he read you got more curious about it. It was romance fiction, your favourite type of book. As he read, you couldn't help but notice him glancing at you a few times. When he finished reading, Elliott looked up. "Well, that concludes my reading, I'll be selling signed copies of the book by the front desk. Thanks for listening!" He put the book away and walked over to you. "Well, how was it?"

"It's brilliant! I can't wait to read the rest of it." Elliott smiled.

"Thanks," He murmured. "You know, I got the idea for making a romance novel from you, do you remember?"

"From me?" You thought about for a second. The memory planted itself in your mind. "When you told me you wanted to be a writer."

"Yeah." Elliott blushed, and this time you saw it. It surprised you, as you never thought he'd be one to blush. "That's why I've dedicated this book to you..." He smiled. "Oh and, here's a free copy of my book." You blinked and your cheeks turned the same shade as Elliott's.

"But I-I was gonna pay for it," you stammered.

"Y/N, you don't have to pay me anything," he said and turned to leave. You followed after him but you went a separate way to him once out of the library, you headed towards your farm, Elliott's book clutched near to your chest.

What... had just happened?
