Chapter Thirteen

A/N: I know this picture isn't Star Wars but wow this photo has me acting up.

The day Kylo had left, Jade felt the now familiar pull in her chest disappear. It hurt her a little, knowing he'd be far enough away for their connection to be weakened. She was just getting used to him, to her feelings. She hoped this mission wouldn't ruin things for them. The days went on fairly quickly, though, most of the time she slept since there wasn't much else to do. She would get regular baths, ice her ribs as much as she could, and eat healing foods.

The doctor had come in for a visit during that week to assess her progress. He was shocked by how far she had come from the last time. She was prescribed a gel to rub onto the area. This would start taking the bruise away as well as some of the pain.

She did everything she could so she could get better, so she could get back into training. It was the only thing she looked forward to doing and now that she couldn't she had nothing. All the books that lined the bookshelf in her room had been read, all the stars that shined up in the night sky were counted. Cora had taught her how to braid her hair on her own, that kept her busy some.

Some therapy was given to her during her recovery. It was slight, but it was enough to get Jade back on her feet. The main concern was keeping that bruise from getting worse or spreading. She had been so careful with it, it was actually going away.

Finally, the day of Kylo's return had come and Jade was able to stand and walk on her own. She still felt twinges of pain here and there, but she was doing so much better. Her eyes were peeled at the large window in her room as she waited to see his ship arrive in the sky. It had been a week since they shared their first kiss and she couldn't help but wonder if he still felt the same as when he left.

The night was closing in quickly and so was the sleep in her eyes. She had herself on a pretty strict sleeping schedule, in order to heal, so she was used to sleeping at 8 every night. Here she was, though, sitting up at 7:30 and feeling a pull to her comfortable sheets. She fought it, pulling her dressing robe around her tightly as she yawned. Her knees were pulled up to her chest as she slowly closed her eyes, feeling exhaustion take over.

Morning sun broke through the window and streamed through the slits of her eyes as she slowly woke. "Morning already?" She asked herself as she stretched, realizing she had fallen asleep on the cushioned windowsill again. Her legs and small body slunk off of the red seat before standing, stretching carefully and being mindful of her bruise.

"Jade."

The voice made her jump, spinning towards where it came from, only to find no one there.

"Hello?" Her feet moved cautiously across the cold wooden flooring beneath them.

"You're awake. Come meet me in the training room."

It was Kylo's voice coming from the speaker in her room. A smile flashed across her face as she raced into the bathroom to quickly freshen up before throwing on her training clothes. She was strong enough to train, yes she still had pain, but it wasn't that bad. The excitement of getting to train again, getting to do something, seeing Kylo. It was all so overwhelming. She didn't even bother braiding her hair or waiting for Cora to come. Her long, black hair trailed behind her as her fast pace brought her to the training room quickly. She took a deep breath before putting in the key code, making the doors slide open.

He stood at the window, full uniform but no helmet, staring out into the wintery scene. The tall frame turned to face her, not moving from his spot. She walked up to him, gazing up at the face that looked down at her with an icy stare. For some reason, it ignited something in her.

"And, how are you feeling?" Kylo asked, hands still clasped behind his back.

Jade looked at his lips as he spoke. It was a simple question, but his words were enticing. "I'm fine. Healed." Mostly, anyway.

He hummed at her response, narrowing his eyes down at her. "No pain at all?"

"No pain!" Don't lie, he'll know.

Kylo scoffed out a laugh, shaking his head. "And you'd be right, I will know. Why would you lie? You know you can't train if you're still hurt." He spoke with such concern. Jade rolled her eyes and sighed at the fact that he was listening to her thoughts now. She started to lift her shirt to show him her side. His eyes shot down to her doing so, but he never changed his expression. He wasn't going to budge.

Her ribcage was now exposed to him, just like it was before a week ago except this time it looked much better. "Look, no more bruise. It was terrible before. Yes, I'm still sore, but I promise you I'm better! I can train!" she whined as she put her shirt back over her stomach.

His large, gloved hand reached out to her face, tucking a piece of long black hair behind her ear. This action startled her a bit, but she fell right into his spell the second he did it. "You didn't braid your hair today," he stated, continuing to brush his fingers over her soft locks. Her head shook slightly, staring at his lips again. "There was no time." A laugh escaped her lips as she watched him stare at her. Such admiration in those eyes. Those gentle fingers caressing each strand...

Wait a minute... Jade's hand collided with Kylo's arm, swatting it away from her hair. "You're distracting. Don't think you can change the subject and make me forget about-" Her words were cut off by Kylo gripping both sides of her face, pulling her in to his lips. Immediately, she felt herself melt into his hold, their kiss now moving furiously in the heat of the moment. She released a soft whimper into his mouth as he continued to passionately kiss her. He took her face and pulled it away slightly, just enough for them to pause. They panted as their eyes looked deeply into each others. "No training until you are better, understood?"

"Yes, sir."

The days and nights went on as she was cared for by Cora, Kylo being busy with other business that needed immediate attention. She hadn't seen him since that day of their idyllic moment in the training room. The yearning didn't get any easier as she couldn't do much of anything again while she rested up. Regardless of how much she needed to get out and do something, she listened to Kylo and stayed in. She rested, iced her side, took hot baths, and stretched every day until eventually the pain was completely gone. It only took a few days, which made her completely ecstatic.

With a spring in her step, she hopped out of her bed that morning and shuffled over to the speaker mounted on her wall. She tapped the number 1 and waited for him to answer on the other end. "Yes?" His voice sounded groggy, still filled with sleep. "I'm ready, for real this time." The thrill in her voice was evident. She was ready to get back into training. "Be ready in 20 minutes." The connection was shut off and now Jade was running into the bathroom to get ready.

"Let's start with just strength training today," Kylo began, in his regular training clothes. It made Jade happy to see him feel comfortable enough around her to show his face so much. A whine was heard from her as she toppled over herself a little, laying on the ground stretching. "Please, I want to get back into staff training. I was getting so good." Smirking softly off to the side, almost expecting this as her answer, Kylo nodded as he walked over to her. He extended his hand to help her up.

A staff came flying towards them, Kylo summoning it with the force and into his hand. Jade jumped at the action, it taking her by surprise. "You try." Kylo nodded towards the wall of weapons. Focusing on her breathing, she took a deep breath in and extended her hand as she breathed out. Suddenly, the wooden weapon was hitting her palm with force. She turned to him, a proud smile upon his face before getting into battle stance.

They took it slow at first, going through the motions so Jade could get the hang of it again. After a few minutes of that, it was time to spar and she couldn't be more excited. However, Kylo felt a pit in his stomach just before they started. He didn't want to hurt her again. Even though she knew it was an accident and they were just practicing, he still never wanted to hurt her like that again.

Jade started with a large swing around her head and down on Kylo, which he caught with his staff and pushed her off of him. She flew back, but landed on her feet. Stepping forward, she jabbed her staff through his arm and hooked it, disarming him. That was too easy. "Kylo Ren. Don't tell me you're going soft on me," she teased, leaning against her staff as she smirked, feeling victorious. Kylo's face scrunched up as he grabbed his weapon off the floor, shaking his head. Truthfully, he went easy on her at first but she didn't need to know that. "Beginners luck. Go again."

What felt like hours passed of them going back and forth with each other. She was starting to get tired, the energy to fight leaving her body. "Don't give up. You wouldn't in a real battle." Kylo was right, she would need to keep her speed if she were to get herself into actual trouble. This remark of his made her grunt and try to push through her exhaustion. Just as she went to go for him again, he hooked around her arm, disarming her and catching his staff just under her chin. Her back was flush with his chest as he held her against him, the weapon at her throat. "Exhaustion leads to death," he whispered against her ear, sending tingles down her body. Their bodies pinned against each other before Kylo released her.

Rolling her eyes, she stood in front of him with her arms crossed. "I had you in the beginning." Kylo nodded his head, taking both staffs back to the weapon wall, hanging them up. He grabbed her water bottle. "Yes, but then you let the fatigue take over. You can't let that happen." He walked back over to her as she huffed out a deep breath, grabbing the bottle and taking a swig from it. "Yes sir." A short laugh escaped Kylo as he got a little closer to her. Their eyes attracted to one another once again. It never took much, being in close proximity was enough for them to feel it all over again.

"Meet me at the doors to the courtyard tonight. 8 PM. There is something I want you to see." Kylo's request sent the butterflies in her stomach soaring. Her eyes softened and she nodded her head, smiling from ear to ear. "I'll be there." His large hand reached for her, wrapping it around the back of her head before placing a soft kiss on her forehead. Her eyes softly closed at his touch. "Good girl," he spoke down at her before walking out the doors of the room. She pushed a slow breath out as she eyed him leaving the room. Within seconds, her body collapsed onto the ground in a fit of childish laughter. These feelings that were so foreign surrounded her. Affection was a dangerous drug.
