Chapter Five

It had been a few moments after Kylo Ren had left the training room. Jade stood there alone, eyes fixed on the floor. Alone. That's what she was now. She gulped back tears and began to walk out the room.

The hallway stretched down on either side and she was suddenly struck with the realization that she has no idea how to get back to her room. Well, now what?

She had an urge to just walk and clear her mind. Having no real destination in mind, she started down the hallway on the left. Nothing but metal lined these hallways. The training room seemed to be the only one with some type of view. She looked for a door, any door, that could lead her outside. She desperately wanted some fresh air.

A few more feet down the hallway and a stormtrooper was entering from a sliding door to her right. They both looked at each other. Jade hoped she wasn't about to get in trouble, but the trooper simply nodded at her and continued to walk. Strange. Her eyes followed the trooper for a moment before turning back to the door. She walked up to it and it slid open, no need for an access code. Continuing through it, her breath caught in her throat when she looked in front of her, seeing a round window that showed the outside.

There was a beautiful courtyard outside of the window where snow had been falling softly. A smile crept up onto her face as she stared out at the foreign weather. She had always lived in a temperate climate, never needing to leave so she had never experienced other planets. Other planets. What planet was she on?

She slowly sat down on the window sill, eyes stuck on the view to outside. Her hand placed onto the cold window, smiling at the strange feeling. There seemed to be no way to get into this place. No doors leading out to it, only stairs leading down from... somewhere. How do I get out there?

Just as she thought that, she heard someone walking up to her. Not clanking of boots like the stormtroopers. A person. "Ms. Elysar?" Jade's head whipped around to see an older woman standing in front of her, hands clasped behind her back. Quickly, she stood up from her seat and nodded. "Yes. Who are you?" The older woman's mouth made a thin line, nodding for Jade to follow behind her.

"I am Ms. Harren. I work as a servant to the First Order. I have been requested by Commander Ren to take care of you." The two began to walk, the older woman's stride a lot more urgent than Jade's. She struggled to keep up.

Take care of me? Jade's eyes furrowed in confusion. She ran up along side of her to look at her profile. "It's very nice to meet you, but I don't think I need a servant. I'm not important enough." Ms. Harren scoffed, rolling her eyes. Did she just roll her eyes at me? ... Maybe we will get along. "Apparently, the Commander thinks otherwise. I will be taking you to your new quarters. There, you will find your training outfits as well as formal attire and casual attire." She side-eyed Jade's current fashion. "I'd suggest you change as soon as you can," she stated, a somewhat petty smile forming.

Jade stopped her pace for a second, mouth hanging. Although, after assessing what she currently looked like, the old woman wasn't wrong. She began to walk again in silence.

After a few more turns down the hallways, through a door or two, they finally reached the room in which she would be staying. "Step forward, please," Ms. Harren spoke, gesturing for Jade to stand in front of the door. Jade's eyes pulled together as she stood in front of the door. On the wall, a glass pane lit up and spoke to her in a distorted, mechanical tone. "Identify". Jade stepped closer, her face in shock at the technology, before looking back at Ms. Harren. She seemed annoyed again at Jade's ignorance. "Your hand. It wants to scan your hand." A small "Oh," escaped Jade's mouth before she placed her hand onto the scanner. Once competed, the doors split open to reveal her new room.

"Woah," Jade softly exclaimed as she looked around. It was beautiful, dark, and more than she had ever expected. Everything in the room was some shade of black with some accents of red and white. The large bed in her room sat in the corner, against the wall, and was adorned with black and red silk sheets. There was a large closet, probably filled with all the outfits Ms. Harren had mentioned before, standing near a door that was opening to a bathroom. The bathroom was large and beautiful. The most awe-inspiring part of the room, however, was the large circular window that had a beautiful view of trees covered in snow. It was like the window she was at before.

Jade made her way through the room, admiring it all. "This is mine?" She questioned, not understanding why she was given such a room. Ms. Harren nodded and stepped over to the keypad on the wall next to the door. "Here is where you can summon me. Press 2 and I will be here shortly." Just as she was about to leave the room, Jade stopped her. "Wait. Who is 1?" Ms. Harren slowly turned around. "Commander Ren. Another one of his requests. I will wake you tomorrow at 7:30 AM." With that, she had left Jade alone to her new quarters.

"Commander Ren... Why did he do all of this for me? I'm nobody." She spoke to herself, her hands wringing together. She walked into the bathroom and looked at herself in the mirror. She looked absolutely terrible.

After a long bath in her large white tub, she changed into pajamas she had found in the closet. A long, black, silk nightgown that slightly trailed behind her on the floor. The straps were thin and she shivered as she put it on. She dug back into the closet and found a long, black robe with lace around all the edges of the fabric. After placing that onto her small frame, she was starting to feel better.

She spent her day eating more of the grey food, delivered to her by a droid, rifling through books that sat upon a small bookshelf she hadn't noticed before, watching the snow fall, and thinking of her family. Night crept up quickly.

The window sill was so inviting to her, this one covered in a red cushion. She sat down and stared out the window, head pushing onto it. Her thoughts floated back to her mother. Her face when she had realized she couldn't reach her daughter. Lyle's sad eyes when he watched his mother fall to the ground, chest burning from the shot. Immediately, tears pricked the corners of her eyes, then falling down onto her soft cheeks. Jade held onto the necklace as she stared out to the moon that was shining bright in front of her. "I love you," she spoke softly, not letting go of the necklace. Something else struck her mind, now. I didn't kill anyone...They had to die...I was only there to get you... Kylo's voice echoed in her head, Jade's eyes clasping shut as she shook her head, tears continuing to fall.

Jade was crying herself to the point of exhaustion. Her eyes felt heavy, so she sat up and placed herself under the covers of her new bed. Her tears wet the soft pillow under her head. Slowly, all these thoughts were silenced as sleep began to come. She had better get some sleep, who knew what tomorrow would bring.

A/N: Hope you're enjoying! We will be seeing a lot more of Kylo soon, don't worry. Don't forget to vote and leave me a sweet comment! Your comments make me laugh and make my day! ❤️
EDIT: changed the name of the handmaid! Sorry for the confusion y'all!
