Chapter 3 - Just Dance

A/N: Hello my lovely readers! I just want to clear a few things up - such as ages - before we get this chapter started!!

So, with that in mind:

Tyler Ryan is the oldest and is 19. He is finished school and goes to University but doesn't stay on campus and stays at home.

Caleb and Mackenzie Peyton are next and are 18. They are in the same year as Jayden and Katia but their birthday's are in January and it is currently the 28th of May.

Jayden Finn is next and is 17. His birthday is on June the 12th.

Then Katia Ryan is the second youngest and is also 17, but her birthday is November the 19th.

The youngest is Trenton Finn who turned 16 in April.

So.. Now that all that is cleared up, enjoy the chapter!!!!

****************

"Yeah, so I walked in and she was on top of him with her hands up his shirt!!!" Tyler was telling his experience of what happened this afternoon, because apparently it was just too funny not to share.

Well, apparently he was right. Everyone at the table was laughing, except for me.

It's not that I was embarassed or even annoyed, I wasn't. It just wasn't funny!

"They took my mnm's!!! What was I supposed to do?" I added, making everyone laugh more.

"Oh no! Not the mnm's!!!" Lillian gasped sarcastically and I just rolled my eyes.

Every single person at this table enjoyed making fun of me.

"You kids can go if you want," Mum offered but most of the kids shook their heads, including me.

"No, we can clean up!" Jayden offered, standing up as he began to pile the plates on top of each other.

"Kids, really. You do it all the time. Go," Louise basically pushed us all out of the way.

"If I didn't know any better I'd think you were all trying to get rid of us," Trenton raised his eyebrow suspiciously, causing all the parents to laugh.

"Of course that's what we're trying to do!! Now GO!!!" Mum instructed us laughing.

We decided to listen to them and actually leave, so we walked to the back door out into the backyard.

The backyard at our house is absolutely beautiful. In the middle there is a big oak tree that we used to climb when we were little, but now it is mostly used for dares or to read under.

Then around the fence there were fairy lights which automatically turned on when it was dark.

The ground was all grass, and in the back corner of the yard there was a type of pavillion; with a glass roof and chairs around the outside. That's the place we were all headed. We always kept the beanbags in there over summer, and considering that summer was a few weeks away we decided to get them out.

Well, Trenton and Tyler went inside to get them while we all made ourselves comfortable.

"It feels so nice to do this again. We haven't all been together for a while," Mackenzie smiled, sitting opposite me with her legs danging off the seat.

"I know. It's been too long! How is school going?" I asked her and she smiled but then gave me 'the look', meaning that we would talk about the important stuff later.

"It's good, but I can't wait for summer so that I can stay here. I mean, I was lucky to be able to come home for this weekend." She huffed, but then shook her head when the boys came back.

"Yeah, I can't wait for summer either," Tyler smiled while dumping the beanbags on the ground then going to sit next to Mackenzie.

"Hey! Speaking of summer, I was thinking we could all go away for a week? Just us and no parents!!" Jayden suggested enthusiastically and we all nodded and replied with various confirmations.

"Well, I was thinking that if we go to Wye river then our parents can't complain? We have the beach house up there and it's not like we haven't done that before!!" Jay continued, still so enthusiastic that he was actually jumping up and down in his seat and smiling so wide that the dimple on his right cheek was showing.

"Sounds great!!" Caleb confirmed, now sitting on one of the beanbags that the boys had brought in.

"So... What should we do?" Trenton asked, sitting beside Caleb.

"Ooh let's play the song game!!" I suggested excitedly and everyone agreed.

The song game was a game we - well we didn't really invent it but we thought we did when we were younger, so for the heck of it - invented. Someone would sing a part of a song and others would have to guess the name and the artist. If you guessed the album you got bonus points.Whoever guesses is the next person to sing.

"Who's first?" I asked and Mackenzie smirked at me.

"Well you of course!!" She suggested and I shook my head.

"Oh don't start. I'm the dancer and you're the singer. That's how it is!" She ranted, flipping her long blonde hair over her shoulder while rolling her eyes.

"Fine!" I groaned, then leaned back against one of the beams to think of a song.

After a few seconds I thought of one that no one would guess! I was the only one that listened to the oldies! "I remember ever-"

"Paradise By The Dashboard Lights, by Meatloaf, on the Bat Out Of Hell album!" Jayden shouted and my jaw dropped open as I turned to face him.

"How the hell did you know that??" I asked and he smiled down at me.

"You used to sing it under your breath every day! How could I not know that song?" He shot back and I rolled my eyes.

God, he is so observant!!!

"Umm... OOH I GOT ONE!!!" Jay exclaimed. "Honey why you calling me, so late? It's kind of hard to talk right-"

"Lips Of An Angel by Hinder!!!" Trenton guessed and of course he was right.

I love that song!!!!

"Gonna clean up your looks, with all the lies in the books, to make a-"

"Teenagers!!! My Chemical Romance!!!" Tyler guessed. I was about to guess but it was his favourite song, so I wanted him to guess it.

We kept playing like that for a while longer, until it transformed into just talking.

I knew it was getting late but I didn't have a watch, so I leaned over and grabbed Jayden's wrist that I knew had a watch on it.

It read half past midnight, so I decided to go inside and tell the parents that all the kids were sleeping here.

I also wanted to get some blankets because it was getting cold!!

So with that goal in mind, I got up and started to walk back to the house.

"Katia! Wait up!" I heard Kenzie call behind me, so I waited as she jogged to catch up to me.

We walked silently beside each other until we reached the back door. I slid it open and Kenzie followed me through the house and to where all the sound was coming from.

Usually our parents were loud, just not this loud.

We turned the corner to the living room, and if I was in the middle of drinking something right now I would have spat it out.

Sitting on the couches was my dad, Jacob, Mike and Louise, but that's not what was strange.

The strange bit was that, in the middle of the room, my mum and Lillian were playing "Just Dance" on the Wii.

Kenzie and I looked at each other and burst laughing. They were doing this really weird mood and I'm pretty sure they were drunk because most of the moves they were just freestyling.

I made my way carefully behind their dancing, because if you weren't careful there was a large chance you would be hit in the face.

"Hey sweeetiee," Louise drawled, making me laugh, and Kenzie who was behind me, nearly fell on the floor with laughter.

"Louise. Your children and Lillian's children are sleeping here tonight," I said very seriously, trying to get it to sink in.

"I think we are too! YAAAAY! Oooh we could have a slumber party!" Louise giggled and clapped her hands together.

Oookay then....

"Yes, we could. We're going to sleep now," I smiled and then ran out of the room laughing, Kenzie ahead of me.

"I don't think I'll ever be able to look at them the same way," I laughed again at the memory, then got the blankets and pillows out of the hall cupboard, giving some to Mackenzie as well.

"So... Are we going to dump the blankets then climb the tree and talk?" Kenzie asked as I closed the back door behind us.

"Yope!" I smiled at her and we did exactly that.

"If you guys want to not regret anything, go into the living room and laugh your asses off!!!" I exclaimed, and all the boys who had clearly been deep in discussion all but sprinted to the living room.

That was our way of getting rid of them so that they wouldn't ask questions. Because, as usual, we would be talking about them.

Kenzie is the only one who knew everything, but that was mostly because everyone trusted her and she wasn't here half the time to blab our secrets.

I climbed up the tree first, going to a branch about half way up the tree. We had tested that this was the point that people on the ground would stop being able to hear you.

So I sat on the branch to the left of the trunk and Kenzie sat on the one next to it, so that we could face each other.

"Buzz not first!!" I called, smiling angelically at her.

"Uh you're such a pain!" She rolled her eyes but was smiling and I knew it.

"Come on! Spill!" I instructed, and she just sighed and ran a hand through her hair, a trait that we all shared from spending too much time together.

"Fine. Well, I decided to not take your advice from last time," a guilty expression lit up her face and I shrugged. I figured she wouldn't. "So I tried to like someone else but that didn't work. Nothing works but he's too old for me and I don't want to like him anymore!" She exclaimed, getting really frustrated.

I told her to calm down before she got really worked up and fell out of the tree.

"I get it Kenzie. But the harder you try to force yourself to not like him, the more you are going to like him. And I mean, it's Tyler!!! I'm pretty sure he likes you too," I informed her and she laughed a humourless laugh.

"Oh please. That guy is beyond clueless. And it doesn't matter anyway, because - "

I cut her off. "You can't use the excuse of 'I go to school an hour away' anymore because you are coming home. And I know that no one else knows except for me and Caleb but you can't use that excuse and I know you don't have another one that is reasonable and actually makes sense."

"God you're annoying," she poked her tongue out at me.

"Just because I'm right," I smiled, flashing all of my teeth. It probably looked really creepy but I didn't care.

"And how about you, hey?" Kenzie started to smirk and I flipped her off.

"Jeez you and your brother are too alike. You know I don't like him," I told her in my 'dont mess with me' voice.

"I know you do. You are so comfortable with him, and I know your excuse is that you've known each other for ages but you are more comfortable with him than with anyone else," She tried to reason but I shook my head.

"Kenzie. I know what I think and I know I don't like him. He is awesome and super hot and smart and he can draw better than anyone I know which is cool but I do not like him!"

"No, of course you don't," Mackeznie sarcastically stated, rolling her eyes. "You know, you're just being difficult because you don't want to admit it to yourself that you could actually have feelings for your best friend. But he likes you too."

I laughed at that, much like she had before; without amusement.

"Yeah, I think I need to call up the Mental Health Institution because you have gone insane!!" I exclaimed, rolling my eyes.

"Fine then, don't believe me. But I know you will end up together. You like each other and there is no hiding it."

"Whatever you say," I smiled sweetly, then we climbed back out of the tree to join the boys again.

They were picking up the blankets and taking them back inside.

Confused, I asked "What are you guys doing?"

"It's too cold to stay out here. We're going to your room," Jayden explained, winking at me and I rolled my eyes at him.

"Okay, but why not the guest room?" I asked. The bed was more comfortable and that's where we always stayed.

"Because my parents have claimed it," Jay responded and I shrugged.

"Sounds good."

We all made our way quietly through the house and to my room, because quite frankly none of us wanted to encouter our parents again.

As amusing at it was, we were all tired and we just wanted to sleep.

Once we got up to my room, Tyler went to his room to get a comfortable shirt to sleep in, as well as some sweatpants for the boys, while Kenzie and I got changed in my ensuite.

I gave her some pyjama shorts to put on and a plain black singlet, while I threw on my pyjama shorts and Jayden's old Coldplay t shirt.

As strange as it may sound, I always slept in Jayden or Caleb's shirts. They were ridiculously comfortable and baggy, even though most of the time I borrowed one and forgot to give it back.

Oh well!!

We left the bathroom and walked through my cupboard to my room, where all the boys were discussing how all six of us were going to fit into my bed.

Sure it was a king size bed but I still had a hard time believing that we ever had six people fit.

"Well, what did we do last time?" I asked them, running a hand through my hair and putting my other hand on my hip.

I was just tired and I really wanted to sleep.

"I think Jay, Katia and Caleb slept with their heads up one end and we slept with our heads up the other end," Trenton was telling Tyler who had just walked back in with a few pairs of sweats for the guys.

"Ooh! I have an idea. Why don't we just lie down one at a time and figure it out from there. Last person has to turn off the lights and put the blankets on top." I suggested and everyone nodded.

Trenton was selected as the last person to join us, so when the boys had changed into their sweatpants and taken their shirts off (because apparently they simply could not sleep with their shirts on), we all got in bed.

I got in first because if I had to stand up any longer I'd probably collapse.

So I lay with my head up one end and Jayden slipped in beside me. Caleb lay on the other side of me, while Ty and Mackenzie put their heads up the other end.

Our legs were all getting tangled underneath but no one was complaining yet.

Trent picked the blanket up off the floor and did an excellent job of placing them so that everyone was underneath them, then as he flicked off the lights a wide smirk lit up his face very quickly.

"CANNONBALL!!!" He screamed, jumping into the middle of the bed while laughing his head off.

"TRENT!! WHAT WAS THAT FOR???" Kenzie screamed but I just laughed with Trenton.

"Wanted to see how much I harm I could cause... Apparently not enough," I heard the dissapointment in his voice as he started to crawl back to his spot beside Mackenzie.

"What's the bet we will be the ones making breafast for the hungover parents in the morning?" Caleb asked into the dark, causin everyone to laugh and the bed actually moved.

"Without a doubt," Jayden confirmed.

"Goodnight weirdos," I smiled, turning on my side to use Jay as a pillow. I could feel his silent laughter as my head settled into the crook of his neck. He had wrapped his arm around my waist and my arm was now slung over his chest.

"Night losers," Kenzie added, giggling slightly.

"Who are you calling a loser?" I heard Ty ask, a smile in his voice.

Suddenly, Kenzie started kicking her legs and laughing, squealing at Tyler to stop.

"Tyler!! Whatever your doing stop!!! She is kicking everyone!!!" Trent whined, and I had to laugh.

"Fiiine," Ty complied, sounding like a three year old.

"Goodnight idiots," Trent breathed into the silence.

"Night you muppets," Caleb laughed.

"Goodnight family," Jayden finished, and as soon as I closed my eyes I was out.
