Chapter 2 - It Runs In The Family
"I'm home!!" I shouted as I walked into the kitchen from the garage.
I had just put my new surfboard in the garage and expected the boys to be in the kitchen, but they weren't.
I heard some noise coming from upstairs so I decided to follow that.
"Shit! She's coming!" I heard Caleb faintly yell, then there was more banging.
Oh, I knew that voice!!!
I sprinted up the remainder of the stairs and immediately darted to my room, flinging the door open to Caleb and Jayden on my bed, smirking.
"GIVE ME BACK MY MNMS!!!!" I yelled, while they both shook their heads.
"NEVER!!" Caleb smirked, but my attention wasn't focussed on him, it was focussed on the unnatural bulge underneath Jayden's shirt.
I smirked knowingly at him and his eyes widened.
I leaped onto Jayden and tackled him to the ground. I was at the advantage as he was not expecting that, so I was sittting on top of him.
"No! Caleb! Help!" He squealed like a little girl but Caleb wasn't going to do anything to save him, I knew it.
"Oh you should know better than to trust Caleb!" I smirked, pinning his arms down with my hands.
"Now, I'm giving you once chance. Give me back my mnm's and you'll walk away unharmed!" I informed him, looking down into his green eyes.
"You think I'm going to give up that easy?" He smirked, raising an eyebrow challengingly.
That's it.
I slid my hands under his shirt and started to tickle him. I knew ALL of his weak spots and he wasn't getting out of this.
I was getting my mnm's back and he could not stop me!!!!
"No... Katy... Stop!" Jay tried to say between fits of laughter but he couldn't stop laughing.
"Not until you give me back my mnms!!!" I exclaimed and continued to tickle him.
The door flung open, and by the sounds of his laugh, it was my older brother Tyler.
"Just can't keep their hands off each other, can they Caleb?" Ty teased and I could hear Caleb joining his laughing.
I ignored them. "Mnm's. Now."
Jay finally gave in, nodding his head and getting the mnm's from under his back; he must have fallen on them.
As soon as they were in my hands I got off Jayden and sat on my bed, turning to greet my older brother who was standing at the doorway to my room.
"Hey Ty," I smiled and smirked back at me.
"Katia, Jayden," he greeted us with a smirk plastered on his face.
"Hey Tyler," Jayden greeted him and I kind of ignored them to look at how much damage they had done to my mnm's.
They had eaten over half of them.
Dang it, that was my time of the month chocolate stash.
"You're buying me more of these," I informed Jayden and he shook his head.
"Wait, why are you two here early? You do know that everyone's here for dinner, right?" Tyler asked the boys, Jayden who was still on the floor and Caleb who was sitting at my desk chair, flipping through my drawings.
"Huh, good to know," Caleb said distractedly, frowning over one of my drawings that I couldn't see, his body was blocking the way.
"Okay, well everyone will be over in half an hour. I'll let you get back to... Whatever you were doing," Tyler smiled and left, closing the door behind him.
"Why can't parents learn how to close the door as good as he can??" Jayden whined and I laughed. This was strangely a common topic of conversation.
"Because he know's what it's like to not have his door closed," I explained and Jayden nodded his head thoughtfully.
Caleb turned to face us on my swivel chair with his thinking look lighting up his face.
Uh oh... I was busted.
"So, shall we talk about what we came here for?" Caleb asked, sitting on the other end of my bed while Jayden hissed himself up off the floor and sat beside me.
"And what is that?" Jay asked, confusion lighting his features.
"That would be Katia's Tristan problem," Caleb responded, smirking slightly.
He just liked to tease me.
"No teasing," I warned him, pointing my finger at him sternly.
He rolled his eyes. "Whatever."
"Okay, so in case you didn't know Jay, Tristan was going to ask out Katia here today at lunch time before she snapped at him," Caleb explained.
Hold up. "Wait, how do you know I snapped at him?"
"Because it's you! Of course you snapped at him," he smirked.
Yeah, he definelty knew me too well.
"Anyway! He was going to ask you out because he still likes you but obviously you don't feel the same, which is good because he's a prick." Caleb continued and Jayden nodded his head thoughtfully.
"But, you know, being Tristan, won't he try again?" Jayden asked, acting like a protective older brother.
That was usually Caleb's job. He was the older brother while Jayden and I were the young stupid ones.
We really were like a family, including Jayden's younger brother, Caleb's twin sister and Tyler.
"Yeah, he will. But it's not like he can force her to do anything," Caleb told Jayden, rolling his eyes for some reason.
I hated when they did this, they always talked about me not to me.
"No but his friends will most likely call out things about him to her, like they did with Immy when she and Nick broke up," Jayden added, obviously trying to figure out a solution to this problem.
I mean, he had a point. The boys in that group had no boundaries, and they kept calling out innapropriate things to Immy. They thought it was just fun joking but it wasn't fun for Immy.
"Yeah, and I can tell them to shut up," I contributed as the front door opened.
"Yes because you are such a tough cookie!" Caleb said sarcastically, getting off the bed and we followed suit.
It was either my parents coming home or it was one of their families, probably the former.
Either way, we needed to say hi.
"Shut up!" I elbowed Caleb in the ribs and he put his hand over where I hit him.
"Owch! That really hurt!!" He faked being really injured.
"LIANA!!!" Jayden nearly squealed, running down the stairs to greet my mother. My dad was coming in the door with the groceries behind her.
"Hey Jay," Mum smiled, pulling him into a hug, as always.
I used Jayden's distraction to ask Caleb about the look on his face when he was flicking through my drawings.
I stepped in front of him to stop him walking down the stairs.
"Caleb, what was that look before? When you were looking through my drawings," I explained, and his face switched back to the same expression.
"You like him," he told me matter-of-factly, and I actually started laughing.
"Caleb! That's ridiuclous! He is just a good person to draw!" I tried to defend myself, but I knew he didn't believe me.
He ran a hand through his blonde hair. "It's more than that."
"Caleb. It's not."
"It is."
"Not."
"IS!"
"NOT!"
"IS!!!!"
"NOT!!!!!"
"IS!!!"
"KATIA!!!" Mum broke us out of our arguing and I smiled guiltily at her, knowing what she was going to say.
"Jayden literally comes screaming down the stairs to greet me and you do nothing? Sometimes I think Jay loves me more than you do," she teased, smiling as she put the groceries away.
"Sorry Mum," I smiled, walking down the stairs with Caleb on my heels.
"We're not done with this conversation," he whispered in my ear.
"Actually, we are." I told him, going to hug my mum, then my dad.
"Hey Dad," I smiled and he laughed, obviously in a good mood.
"Hey Sean, hey Liana," Caleb greeted my parents, sitting on one of the stools at the counter, beside Jayden.
"What? I don't get a hug?" Mum teased him and he laughed, but got up and hugged her.
As Mum and Dad unpacked the groceries, the three of us sat at the counter, talking to them about their days.
"Why do I have the feeling that you were up to no good?" Dad inquired while Mum started to get food out of the fridge to cook dinner.
"Because you know us too well!" A goofy smile covered Jay's face as he said this, but his smile turned into a smirk as he looked at me.
The mnm's...
"They stole my mnm's," I told my parents pouting, causing everyone to start laughing at me.
My dad walked into the pantry and threw something at me, barely giving me time to catch them.
"Is that better?" He asked, and when I looked down in my hands I saw the blue packet, meaning only one thing.
"CRISPY MNMS!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!" I chanted, immediately getting off my stool and out of reach of the boys.
Without another word I ran upstairs to my room to figure out where to hide them. Once I got to my room I looked around, not being able to think of a spot where they wouldn't look.
I heard the front door open again, so I quickly ran into my walk in closet and hit them in the pocket of one of Jayden's old jumpers.
Or was it Caleb's?
I had no idea.
Either way, I ran back downstairs to find Jayden's family walking into the house.
"TRENTON!!" I squealed at Jayden's younger brother.
"KATIA!!!" He screamed back, and then I ran and pulled him into my arms.
"Look who's grown up since last time!!" I smirked at him, ruffling his dark hair, much like his brother's.
"Katy, I saw you four days ago," he responded and I shrugged, I was just in a really good mood!!
"Where's my hug?" Their mum, Louise, asked me.
I just smiled at her and hugged her too.
"How have you been sweetie?" She asked.
"Really good!" I smiled again because I was just too happy.
These people were my family and I had been looking forward to this for a while.
I hugged their Dad, Mike too and then went back to the counter.
Everyone was busy greeting each other than no one heard the door open, revealing the last family, the Peyton family.
The first person I saw was Caleb's twin sister, Mackenzie.
As soon as she saw me, she smiled and we ran to each other and hugged.
I hadn't seen her for ages! She went to a school about an hour from here because she rocked at dancing and that school was the best way for her to become a professional dancer.
"I HAVEN'T SEEN YOU IN SO LONG!!!" I squealed, jumping up and down with her.
"I KNOW IT'S BEEN TOO LONG!!!" She squealed back and then we stopped, because the boys had all started laughing at us, Ty too, who had just come down the stairs.
"Hey Lillian! Hi Jacob," I smiled at their parents too, and hugged them.
"Does anyone else think that Katia is insane?" Trenton asked, making everyone laugh.
Caleb and Jay nodded their heads in agreement.
"Hey, what can I say? It runs in the family!"
