Almost right after Jack had constructed his plan, his door opened without warning, causing him to jump and whip around, which made his back hurt, but he didn't really notice.
Dark stood in the entryway, grinning at him. "Hello, Jack," he purred. His eyes were back to their original near-black color. At least he isn't angry anymore, Jack thought.
"Hello, Dark," he answered through gritted teeth, forcing himself to smile.
"Oh, quit it with the fake smile," Dark said, scowling as his grin disappeared. "You fail at masking your true emotions, you know."
Well, then, Jack thought, and his smile vanished. He wanted to snap at Dark but commanded himself to remain calm. "I realized," he replied, looking away to stop Dark from seeing the fury in his eyes.
Stick to the plan, stick to the plan, stick to the plan, he chanted again and again in his head.
"So I suppose I'll tell you why I locked you in here," Dark began, examining his nails as if in boredom. Jack waited expectantly, crossing his arms over his chest as he did so.
"Well?" He asked, mustering up as much patience as he could as he continued staring at Dark.
"Well," Dark drawled, "I had to form a plan, you see."
Funny, Jack thought. I was formulating a plan, too.
"Alright, so what was that plan?" Jack asked, trying to appear uninterested and just casual even though he was. He wanted to see what Dark thought, how he thought. What he was going to do.
"I'm not going to tell you!" Dark laughed. "I'd be an idiot if I did. Well, maybe not entirely, but. . ." He paused, as if debating, before shaking his head and turning back to him. "The point is, you're coming with me. No protests, no noise, no bringing anything with."
"Wait, can't I at least bring some clothes—" Jack argued, eyes widening. So they were leaving, as he predicted.
"Fine, fine. But only three pairs, and I check your bag when you're done. And if I find any source of electronic device inside. . ." Dark smiled. "You will be punished."
