Chapter Six : Fatal Attractions Pt. 4
YOU FINISHED UP with Foxtrot and left, making it back to the hotel.
You had to change your shirt because Foxtrot had accidently scratched your side, making you bleed. Fortunately, Hoskins had bandages and fixed you up. You switched shirts and checked your phone.
It was almost noon.
You went to contacts and tapped on Zach's sending him a quick text.
You: Hey Zach, it's (Y/n)
Zach: (Y/n)! Hey
You: So, ready to get lunch?
Zach: Sure. Your are done with your job?
Zach: Your done with your job?*
You: You're* and yes
Zach: Don't correct me 😒
You: I'll do what I want 😎
Zach: Whatever
You: Meet chu at the Para's Café in five
Zach: Ok
You then got up and left your cozy room, heading down the hall and through the glass doors. You paused to take a deep breath and fingered your binoculars that sat around your neck, per usual.
You wove through the crowds, pushing and elbowing, and climbed the three steps to enter the café. Your (color) eyes found Zach and Gray instantaneously and you padded to their table.
"Heya, boys," you sat beside Gray and grabbed a menu.
"Hey, (Y/n)!" Gray greeted you cheerfully.
"Hi," Zach leaned back in his seat, arms draped over the top of it.
"How's your second day at Jurassic World going?" You chose what you wanted nonchalantly.
"Eh, managed to escape Zara again," Zach shrugged, "What about you? How was your "job"? What'd you do?"
"Oh, you know, just helping with the mechanics and security and stuff like that. No biggie," you waved away the question, a drop of sweat forming on the back of your neck.
"Sounds boring," commented Gray as the waiter came up to you three. You each ordered and ate with some quiet conversation before getting up and leaving the café.
"So, Gyrospheres first?" You queried to the duo.
"Of course!" Gray nodded enthusiastically, skipping ahead.
"I wish I had as much energy as him," you shook your head with a laugh.
"Ha, Gray's a handful, but an energetic (Y/n) too? No way!" Zach joked, elbowing your ribs gently.
"Screw you too, Zach," you rolled your eyes.
×××
The three of you had been standing in a ridiculously long line for at least half an hour. The sun was beating down on you, making you sweat profusely.
But what irritated you the most was a group of girls nearby who giggled and waved at Zach like petty flirts.
And Zach would grin from ear-to-ear!
You clenched your jaw, your group being the next for the Gyrosphere ride. You sent the group of girls a glare.
"What's staring at them gonna do?" Gray blurted, narrowing his eyes at his elder brother.
The girls giggled loudly.
"Thanks, Gray, I really appreciated that." Zach stated sarcastically, slouching.
Then one of the girls, a darker skinned beauty with gorgeously curled hair and a pearly smile, approached you three -- or, more specifically, Zach.
"Hey -- " she started.
Nope. Not happening in front of me or Gray.
"Hello," you greeted mockingly, slipping your hand into Zach's, catching him off-guard.
"Oh! Are you two dating or something..?" The girl took a step backwards, uncertain.
"You could say that," you leaned your head against his shoulder, smiling. "So what did you need?"
"Nothing, actually. I just thought he was someone I knew. Guess not, sorry," and with that the girl hurried back to her own group.
Once she was gone, you released Zach and stepped away from him. He was staring at you, expression blank as ever.
"What?" You snapped, "I don't like you flirting with girls in front of children!"
"Yeah, right. That's why you did it," Zach huffed in disbelief.
"What are you implying?" You demanded.
"I'm implying that you're jealous!" He growled, folding his arms across his chest.
"I am not! I would never like a guy like you," you retorted, turning away from him.
Poor Gray was glancing between you both, unsure of what to do or if he should say something. He scratched his head before noticing it was your turn for the Gyrospheres.
"(Y/n)! (Y/n)! It's our turn!" Gray grabbed your hand and pulled you through the gate.
You let your anger evaporate as Gray's excitement rubbed off on you. You listened to the worker as he explained the rules.
"But, um, there's only two seats. So what do ya wanna do? Wait to ride with someone else or somethin'?" The man asked with a quirked brow.
Damnit.
You forgot about that. Last time you rode with Owen, so you hadn't really noticed.
"Er, uh -- " you began, biting your lip.
"She can sit on my lap," Zach offered, seemingly impatient to get on with it.
"Uh, no!" You protested with wide, (color) eyes.
"It's either that or ride with some stranger," Zach responded, climbing into the glass sphere and settling himself into a seat.
Your cheeks warmed as you climbed in, sighing in defeat. You carefully crawled onto his lap and sat stiffly as he clamped the seatbelt around the two of you, forcing your back against his torso.
His warm breath rolled down your neck, causing you to shiver, and his fingers pressed against your thighs.
Gray got in, bouncing in excitement. He seemed oblivious to your uncomfortable situation as he buckled up, sent you a thumbs-up and a wink, and yelled.
"Let's go!"
Zach grabbed the joystick and pushed it forward and the Gyrosphere began to move.
You cruised through a field and almost bumped into the back of a Parasaurolophus.
"Jeez, Zach, watch where you're going," you huffed, crossing your arms over your chest. The simple movement caused a sliver of pain to shoot up your ribs, you winced.
"You okay?" Gray queried in concern, brows furrowed.
"Y-yeah, just a little scratch," you laughed it off before returning your attention to the herds of different herbivorous dinosaurs that roamed just beyond the glass.
"Whoa, look at the Brachiosaur! It's huge!" Gray exclaimed, nearly forgetting your insignificant injury.
"Well, they're supposed to be that big." You informed, your gaze slipping from the long neck of the creature and to the small group of Triceratops as they grazed.
"This is boring," Zach commented, "Why don't we speed things up a bit?"
"Or how about not?" You responded with a shake of your head.
"Loosen up a bit, (Y/n)," Zach laughed as he accelerated the Gyrosphere. You sped up and navigated through the herds.
Because Zach increased the speed, the herbivores raised their heads with loud roars and calls and began racing the Gyrosphere.
"Wow.." Your breath was taken from you as you watched Triceratops, Brachiosaurus, Parasaurolophus, Stegosaurus, and Galimimus crowd around you, occasionally brushing the glass.
It was marvelous, in your opinion. Almost as if you were a part of the herd.
Then Zach slowed down, something catching his eye near the fence. He changed course and you glanced over your shoulder at him. He was focused on something ahead of you.
The Gyrosphere stopped.
You looked ahead and gasped, covering your mouth with your hands.
"Oh, my gosh," you eyed the large, gaping hole in the fence, "What on Earth could have caused that?"
"I don't know, but I want to see what's past it." Zach moved the joystick forward.
"Nu-uh, no way!" You grabbed his hand, pulled it off of the joystick, and wrapped your hand around it yourself.
"Oh, c'mon, (Y/n), it'll be fun. Right, Gray?" Zach looked to his little brother for support.
"Actually, I'm with (Y/n) on this. What if we get caught and go to jail? I don't wanna go to jail. They shave your head in jail!" Babbled the blonde, hugging himself. "I don't want my head shaved."
