Aysha stared at the oven, expectantly waiting for the vanilla cake to be done. Craytia had a small smile playing on her lips as she leaned back on the counter behind her and watched Aysha amused at her actions. Aysha continued staring into the oven, doing the same thing she used to do as a child.

She would stare into the oven and ignore her mother who would repeatedly yell at her to get up. Aysha would stubbornly sit there and continue staring into it until the timer beeped and she'd hurry to get her mother. Afterward, she'd put a little bit of whip cream on top and would pretend that she was a master chef. Her mother would hug her and put a kiss on her head.

Aysha let out a sigh as she stood up. It felt weird to kneel there knowing she wouldn't hear her mother screaming at her. She missed her voice.

When the timer beeped, Aysha put the oven mittens on and took the cake out. She looked at Craytia and asked, "Do you have any whip cream?"

It felt wrong to her to not have any whip cream. Craytia nodded and brought it out from the fridge. Carefully, Aysha got out a knife and cut two slices for her and Craytia. She threw it to Aysha who caught it with ease and put it on her slice.

"Do you want some as well?"

"Sure."

Aysha sprayed the cream on Craytia's slice as well. She picked up her fork and ate slowly savoring the sweet taste in her mouth. She closed her eyes and let out a pleased sigh. If she had her way, she would always eat this cake as much as she could. She enjoyed the taste of the vanilla and how the strong taste overwhelmed everything else.

The cake was similar to emotions. Only one taste and only one emotion overpowered everything else. You would ignore everything else and focus on that one thing. Even if there were other emotions and other tastes, you knew were there that you'd rather ignore, you'd continue to ignore it with emotions you were sure of.

"Aysha?"

Aysha snapped out of her thoughts and turned her head to Craytia. "Yes?"

Craytia had already cleaned her plate of every single possible crumb of cake. Craytia reached over with her hand and placed it gently on Aysha's cheek. Aysha froze, once again not knowing how to react. She stared into Craytia's striking green eyes.

Craytia flicked a crumb that had been on Aysha's cheek. "There was a crumb on your cheek," Craytia said with an almost seductive smile.

Craytia left the room, her hips slightly swaying. Aysha was still dazed from what happened. Personally, she didn't necessarily hate Craytia. She was simply like every other person in the world, but she simply happened to be in a higher station. Craytia was odd...in a sense, in Aysha's opinion. She was never necessarily cruel. She stayed somewhat indifferent, but the flirting she did put Aysha off.

Aysha left the kitchen to go find Craytia. She found Craytia sitting in the living room couch flipping through channels. Aysha sat next to Craytia, her body positioned toward her. She put her hand on Craytia's arm.

"Craytia."

Craytia looked at her with a brow raised. "Yes?"

Aysha took a deep breath. She needed to choose her words wisely. "Craytia, why do you look at me the way you do?"

"What do you mean?"

"The way you smile at me.." Aysha had to admit, she was feeling uncomfortable. "The way you looked at me and smiled at the party when we were dancing..." Aysha's voice trailed off again, not knowing what to say specifically.

Craytia's almost seductive smile played on her lips. "You're an interesting person-"

"You've told me that before."

"You're bold and quiet. You're not afraid to speak your mind, but you're careful about it."

"What else?" Aysha asked. "Is that it?"

Craytia shook her head and chuckled. "You say all that like you're expecting us to be a couple."

Aysha felt embarrassed. "No...I mean, I-"

Craytia smiled enjoying Aysha's uncomfortableness. "I just like you. Nothing more and nothing less. If you want something more, then sure. If not, then we'll stay the way they are."

Aysha shook her head. "No, I don't want anything more."

Aysha looked away. She couldn't possibly compromise her position. She had to kill Crayta and she had to do it as fast as possible. If she allowed herself to know Craytia more than she did now, she would stop seeing her as an obstacle that needed to be overcome and more of a person she had to simply avoid hurting.
