Peace

Specter went to his new bedroom and sat on his bed, Shadow and Static had stopped laughing not long after Specter left the heroes. They were actually silent which Specter was surprised about since it was rare that they voluntarily stayed silent. He wasn't complaining though, he was enjoying each and every second that they didn't talk.

Shadow sighed, "I'm bored."

Specter mentally sighed, "Fine, we can go to the library and read or something."

Static hummed, "Okay, I want to go outside later though."

Specter nodded, "Sure, if you two behave we'll go outside." Specter got up and headed toward the library, he picked out a few books and began reading. Meanwhile, the heroes had been training for over an hour and when they were done the heroes ate lunch.

While Megan was making lunch she thought of something, "Does anyone know where Specter is?"

All of the heroes glanced at each other, none of them knew where the ghost was and Kid Flash looked at Megan. "Why do you ask?"

"I don't think I've seen Specter ever eat since he came here."

The heroes all paused for a second and they tried to remember if they had ever seen Specter eat. He had been there for almost a week and none of them had ever seen him eat, Robin stood up from his seat. "I'll see if I can find him."

Robin was fairly certain that he already knew where Specter was so he headed to the library. If Specter wasn't in the library he'd probably be in his room, when Robin opened the door to the library he saw Specter. Robin mentally sighed, "You're in here again?"

Specter didn't look up from his book, "Yup, the voices are quiet when I read."

Robin nodded, he figured Specter did a lot of things so his voices would be quiet, "Do they talk when you're talking to other people?"

Specter paused for a second before he closed the book and looked at Robin, "Most of the time they do. For some reason there's only one person they shut up around but only if they're talking to me directly."

Robin raised an eyebrow, "Who's that?"

"Surprisingly enough it's you."

Robin's eyes widened a fraction and Shadow shouted at him, "You dumbass!"

Static looked like he was going to pull his hair out, "Why did you tell him?!"

Specter resisted the urge to roll his eyes and he changed the subject, "I'm guessing you're here for a reason, what is it?"

Robin blinked a few times to snap himself out of his shocked state and he remembered why he had been looking for Specter. "No one has seen you eat since you came here, I wanted to know when the last time you ate was."

Specter thought for a second, "I think it was a little over a week ago."

Robin's eyes widened, "A week?!"

Specter shrugged, "I kind of forgot to eat." Robin stared at him in shock before he grabbed Specter's wrist and dragged him out of the room. Specter was surprised but he didn't fight it, he waited until they walked toward the kitchen to ask questions, "What the hell is going on?"

Robin gave him a very serious look, "You're going to eat something, if you try to run I'll tie you to your chair."

Specter groaned, "It's not like I'll die from not eating for over a week!"

The other heroes started at him in shock and Kid Flash stood up, "A week?!"

Shadow face palmed and Static shook his head as Specter rolled his eyes and responded, "That's what I just said isn't it?"

Static sighed, "So are you going to eat or try to run?"

Shadow crossed his arms, "You've already fucked up enough for one day, you might as well just eat one god damn meal."

Specter glared at him, "Why don't you two just shut the fuck up and leave me alone?"

Static smirked, "Because it's more interesting if we annoy you." Specter rolled his eyes again before he begrudgingly sat down while the voices started getting louder. Specter wasn't even paying attention to whatever he was eating because his voices were too loud for him to focus on much.

As soon as he was done with his food he left and went back to the library so his voices would shut up. He immediately picked up the book he had been reading before and he turned to the page he was on. His voices calmed down when he started reading the words, they were now just a dull murmur to him.

Shadow and Static were completely quiet, the jumble of voices was almost never quiet but he had gotten used to ignoring them. Hours passed, neither Specter nor his voices knew how much time passed until Static spoke. "What time is it?"

Specter looked at the clock, "It's night, let's go outside." Shadow and Static immediately shut up again, they knew Specter wouldn't go outside if they were loud again. Specter put away all of the books he took out and walked outside to the small ledge he'd found on the mountain before.

Specter sat down on the ledge and felt a slight breeze, he smiled at how calm it was, he hadn't felt this calm in a long time. He sat on the edge of the ledge and he stared at the moon and stars, the way the night sky reflected off the calm waves of the ocean, and the trees at the edges of the whole scene.

Specter couldn't help but smile before he stretched and laid down on the ground with his legs still hanging off the edge. He enjoyed the breeze that was gently stirring the air, he wished it could be like this more often. He didn't have to listen to his voices and everything seemed to practically stand still for a few blissful moments.

After some time Specter heard footsteps and he almost smirked, "This is becoming a bad habit for you."

Robin sat down next to him and he looked amused, "What's becoming a bad habit?"

Specter sat up, "Purposely talking to an insane ghost, seriously, who in their right mind would want to talk to someone like me?"

Robin looked a bit confused, "What do you mean someone like you?"

"I'm insane, dead, unpredictable, talk to voices in my head all the time, and I'm also dangerous. I never thought anyone would willingly be around me until I met you and you proved me wrong."

Robin smiled, "Well I'm glad I did, so what are you doing out here?"

"Shadow and Static agreed to be quiet if I came out here and I wasn't going to say no to some peace and quiet."

Robin stared at Specter, "You do a lot of things so they'll be quiet don't you?"

Specter laughed a little, "You have no idea, they're annoying as hell so when I can shut them up I'll do it."

Robin looked at Specter sadly, "I'm sorry."

Specter shrugged, "It's not your fault, you're not the one that drove me insane so you don't have anything to be sorry about. Plus, I might hear voices in my head but it's not that bad, at least I can still kind of function like a normal person."

Robin gave Specter a curious look, "You know, sometimes you seem completely sane."

Specter laughed, "I have my sane moments."

Robin nodded before he thought of something, "Does your insanity affect you in other ways too?"

Specter nodded, "I have mood swings sometimes, they don't happen a lot but they do happen sometimes. I usually either get extremely angry, panicked, or depressed but it usually doesn't last longer then a day."

Robin nodded again, "Do the others know?"

Specter shook his head, "I didn't even think about it until now."

Robin hummed, "Would you be okay with telling them?"

Specter thought for a second before he nodded, "Yeah, it would be a good idea to tell them in case that happens." Specter took one last look at the scene in front of them before he stood up, "It's late, we might want to go inside."

Robin nodded and Specter offered the hero his hand, Robin smiled before he took it and Specter helped him stand. The two went inside and the ghost went to his room, he was tired and sleeping sounded like a good idea. Shadow said something as he started to drift off to sleep, "You need to be careful idiot, you're starting to like him too much."

Specter laughed a little, "That's ridiculous, there's no way." Specter soon fell asleep and nothing Shadow or Static said after that registered in his mind.
