Rage carried Specter on his back as the group walked through the halls of Specter's mind. Kid Flash spoke, "Okay, what exactly are we doing?"

Shadow answered him, "Letting him out."

Aqualad looked confused, "But who is he, and what does he have to do with all of this?"

Static mentally sighed, "You'll find out soon enough."

The heroes were going to keep asking questions but when the four stopped in front of a door they were quiet. They were black double doors like the ones from before but they had silver parts at the edges where the hinges were. Another thing that was different was that these doors had chains on them, it looked like someone really didn't want anyone to open the door.

Cross stared at it for a second before he walked up to it and grabbed the chains before he started breaking them. After a minute or two all of the chains were broken and Cross opened the door, Rage followed him. Shadow and Static were right behind the two, the heroes trailed in last and they were stunned.

There was another version of Specter sitting on the floor, it was dark in the room so they weren't sure if there even was a floor. He was chained up and from the looks of it he wasn't getting out of those chains any time soon. This version of Specter had black hair and blue eyes like he did before he became a ghost.

He wore a jacket but it was unzipped, it had white flames on the bottom half and he wore a black shirt under it. He wore black pants, a white belt, black fingerless gloves, and black boots with small chains on them. He looked at the four other versions of Specter and smirked, "Hi guys, it's been a while."

The heroes stared at the new version of Specter and right as Batman was going to talk he cut him off. "Not to sound rude but what the fuck are you doing here?"

Cross answered him by pointing at Specter and he looked at the unconscious teen, "Oh, that's not good."

Cross walked over to him and broke the chains, he looked like he was going to protest but one look from Cross shut him up. Once the chains were gone he stood up and stretched a little before he crossed his arms, "Someone explain, now."

Rage mentally sighed, "As you might have noticed, he's in pretty bad shape at the moment, his minds literally falling apart."

He laughed, it sounded a bit like Specter's deranged laugh, "And what do you expect me to do, I can't help!"

Rage glared at him, "That's bullshit and you know it."

He rolled his eyes and put his hands in the pockets of his jacket, "How, exactly, is that a lie?"

"You've been around longer then any of us, you're the reason that this didn't happen until now."

"And look how that turned out, the only thing I did was slow it down but he kept getting worse. I was locked up for a reason, this place will just fall apart even faster if you let me out."

That seemed to be the last straw but not for Rage, Cross looked pissed and he grabbed the front of his shirt. He put his hands up in surrender, "Holy shit Cross, what the hell pissed you off?"

Cross's glare turned ice cold and he froze, "Okay, I yield, just calm down!"

Cross let him go and the new version of Specter put his hands down before looking at Rage, "Follow me."

Rage followed him out of the room and the other three were right behind him, the heroes decided to just follow them and ask questions later. They followed until he stopped at a door and opened it, they ended up in a large empty room. He mentally sighed, "Put him there."

He pointed to the corner and, as if by magic, there was a bed there, Rage didn't seem surprised as he laid Specter down on the bed. The new Specter sat down in a chair and the other four did the same, the heroes looked around and there were just enough chairs for all of them. The heroes sat down and he looked at them, "I'm sure you're very confused right now so while we wait for Specter to wake up you can ask questions."

Robin spoke first, "What's your name?"

"My name's Frenzy."

Black Canary spoke, "What did Rage mean when he said that you've been around the longest?"

Frenzy leaned back in his seat, "Well we didn't all splinter from his mind at the same time."

Batman raised an eyebrow, "What do you mean splintered?"

Frenzy facepalmed and shook his head, "You didn't think we were just randomly made did you?"

Megan looked confused, "Then what are you exactly?"

Frenzy mentally sighed, "It might be a bit confusing."

Aqualad gave Frenzy an interested look, "Please at least try to explain."

Frenzy groaned, "Fine, just don't blame me if you don't understand it." He ran a hand through his hair, "I guess I should start with the fact that we're not just voices in his head."

The heroes looked stunned, shouts of 'What' and 'Seriously' were heard from many of them. Frenzy nodded, "We're actually different aspects of him, it's just easier to say we're voices in his head."

Kid Flash spoke, "How?"

"Well if you'd all let me explain without interrupting I'll tell you." The heroes immediately shut up, "Smart move, now back to what I was saying. We're different aspects of Specter's personality that have splintered off from his mind at different points in time."

"Each of us represents something different; Shadow represents self-loathing, Static represents guilt, Rage is, well, rage, Cross is his calm side, and I'm his insanity. The reason why we splintered off of his mind is because his mind was trying to protect itself."

The heroes looked like they were going to interrupt but one look from Frenzy kept them quiet. "After he started going insane Specter's mind tried to protect itself from the trauma by separating certain parts. I was the first to go since I'm his insanity, I was the first voice Specter heard."

"It worked for a while, he was more stable and he wasn't going insane as quickly as before. As the situation got worse more of us started showing up, Shadow was next, Static followed soon after. Rage showed up some time after and and Cross was the last one of us, which makes him the youngest."

The heroes looked stunned but they didn't say anything and Frenzy continued. "Not long after Cross showed up I realized that Specter was getting worse, a lot worse, and I was worried. If it kept going on like that he wouldn't last long, something had to be done so we all came to a decision."

"Since I'm his insanity if I got locked away it might stop his mind from falling apart. Cross had to be the one to lock me up since he's the strongest, aside from me, so he chained me up and left me there as I requested. Since they didn't let me out I'm assuming it worked, which is why I have no idea why they let me out."

Rage leaned back in his chair and crossed his arms, "It did work for a year or two but he started having mental breakdowns again. Cross and I tried to get through to him but it didn't work and now he can't hear us which made it worse. Shadow and Static managed to keep him together, through some weird methods, and he was fine until a few days ago."

"Shadow and Static got worked up about seeing the GIW again and it ended up affecting Specter pretty badly. Now his minds literally falling apart and things are getting pretty bad, the madness isn't making it easier."

Frenzy looked exasperated, "I've been locked up for a while, I don't know what the hell your talking about."

Shadow answered, "A couple months after you were locked up it started appearing, it's pretty easy to deal with but it's spreading. We call it the madness, we're pretty sure it's another form of Specter's insanity since you were gone and he's still pretty unstable. It usually takes the form of demonic looking animals but if it gets bad it looks like tar."

Frenzy didn't look happy, "Damn, looks like things have been getting pretty bad."

Rage looked pissed, "Yeah, and now we've got to make sure he doesn't fall to pieces or we're screwed."

All of a sudden the room started to shake and they waited for it to stop before Frenzy spoke, "We need to fix this, now."
