So I finally decided to let you guys know what is wrong with Josh, and what goes through his head!

Ding

Ding

Ding

Is what Josh heard when he woke up. He groaned and pulled his pillow over his face, to block out the sound.

DING

The bell got louder, and Josh snapped his eyes open, tears streaming down his face. He hated himself, everyone hated him. His family, his friends, and strangers on the road. At least, that’s what he thought. That’s what he heard every day from the voices inside his head.

Josh turned his head to the right, and stared at the pill bottle. He didn’t want to take them, but he was getting worse. They would send him away once he got worse; at least that’s what they told him.

Hesitantly, he reached out, and grabbed his pill bottle. ‘Don’t take them you worthless piece of shit. They are poison.’

‘Put them down, poison.’

Josh threw the pill bottle across the room, and ran to the bathroom. He stared at his reflection for a second, before reaching for his toothbrush, and brushed his teeth.

He walked out once he was done, and could hear his family in the kitchen. He was about to walk out the door, ‘They don’t want to see you, worthless.’

‘I hate you, we hate you.’

He ignored the voices, and wandered down to the kitchen. His father sat at the dining table, and glanced up when he seen his son.

“Good morning you worthless piece of shit.”

‘See they hate you. I hate you. Don’t drink the coffee, they poisoned it. They want you to die.’

“Hunny? Did you hear your father? He asked you how you slept.” His mum’s voice rang through his ears.

“Oh...” He mumbled. “I slept okay.”

His father frowned, and shook his head gently. “You didn’t take your pills did you? Son, you shouldn’t listen to what they say. I don’t think you are worthless.”

He’s lying to you. Why wouldn’t he think you are worthless? Look at you!’

‘Go take your poison and kill yourself.’

His mother had disappeared, but appeared minutes later with his pills. “Here, hun. Take them, and why not go outside? It’s such a beautiful day.”

He smiled weakly at his mum, and took the pill from his mum. “Okay, mum.”

‘I said don’t take them. Do you want to die? You’re going to die.’ The voice laughed at him.

Josh thought for a minute, and he didn’t want to die. The pill would kill him, why were they after him? It was poison.

He threw the pill down the toilet, and wandered back to his room to get ready. His mother was right; it was such a nice day out. The sun was out, and it was warm. He could go to the park.

He got dressed in a black tee-shirt, and some jeans. ‘Don’t go outside. Don’t do it.’

‘He has to go outside now.’

‘Don’t go.’

‘They are after you.’

Josh made his way outside, and towards the park he knew that would be filled with people. He kept his gaze on the ground, kicking a pebble as he went.

When he got to the park, he made his way to the bench, and sat down. He never toke his eyes off the ground.

He’s after you. He has a gun.’

BOOM.

‘He’s going to shoot you. Look up. Look up.’

Josh brought his gaze up, and scanned the park. All he saw were little children, but then his gaze landed on someone he didn’t want to see.

Niall.

Niall had been after Josh since 4th grade, when he first started going to his school, at least that’s what they told him.

Hurt him before he hurts you. Come on, he has a gun.’

BOOM.

Josh jumped up, and sprinted towards Niall. Niall was just sitting there; he didn’t even know what was coming for him.

Josh tackled him to the ground, and started landing punches to his face. He barely heard Niall whimper; it was mostly blocked out by the voices.

“WHERE IS THE GUN HORAN? I KNOW YOU HAVE ONE.” Josh shouted. People around gasped, and began to hide their children.

“I-I don’t have a gun!” Niall whimpered out through bloody lips. “DON’T LIE TO ME.” Josh hissed.

‘It’s in his pocket. He’s pulling it out. He’s going to shoot!”

‘He’s going to shoot.’

“I DON’T HAVE A GUN!” Niall cried out in pain, and confusion. Why would he have a gun? He would never touch a gun.

Josh was suddenly pulled off Niall, and tackled to the ground. Someone called the police on him.

‘Now you’re going to jail. Should have stayed inside.’

Niall was pulled up, and searched, but they found nothing. He was taken to an ambulance to be looked at and treated.

Josh was handcuffed and dragged to the back of the police car.

--

Niall had been sent home with a broken nose, bruised lips, and eyes. He felt terribly, and he couldn’t stop the tears from falling. Why would Josh think he had a gun? Did Niall really seem that bad? He didn’t want to be bad. He would do anything to be good. That includes not touching or ever going near a gun.

He whimpered in pain as he brought his phone to his ear.

“Hello?” Alfie’s voice rang after the second ring.

“Alfie.” Niall cried out.

“Niall, what’s wrong bud? What happened?” Alfie demanded with a soft tone.

“Josh… H-he beat me up at the park today. He kept shouting that I had a gun. Why would he think I had a gun, Alfie?” Niall cried to his best friend.

“Are you okay?! What is the damage?” Alfie was fuming. He wished he could be there for his best friend, he only had a year left then he was coming home.

“I have a broken nose, and my eyes and lips are bruised.” He whispered. What was he supposed to tell his mum? She never knew about the bullying.

“I’m going to break his fucking nose when I get home. I hate him.” Alfie almost shouted. Niall flinched at his harsh tone, before scolding the boy.

They talked for another 20 minutes before Alfie had to go back to class.

“I’ll call you tomorrow, I love you bud.”

“I love you, too.” Niall whispered into the phone.

When he hung up, he thought about calling Harry, but he knew Harry would be mad. He didn’t want to see him mad, he wanted Harry happy. He wanted to make sure his angel would be happy. He bit his lip, but instantly flinched when his lip trembled in pain.

He decided not to call his angel, and instead went to sleep off the pain.

--

“They told me to do it! They said he had a gun!” Josh cried out in frustration. He was being questioned, while they waited for his parents.

“Who?” The officer demanded.

“The voices!” Josh shouted.

The officer was about to reply, but there was a knock on the door and his parents walked in followed by another officer.

His mother was in tears, and his father had a grim look on his face.

“Mum? What’s wrong?” Josh asked frantically.

The officers were talking in hushed tones in front of him, but he was busy staring at his mother. The cuffs on his hands were taken off, and he rubbed his wrists. His mother came around and sat next to him, rubbing his back softly.

“Josh…” She shared a look with her husband, before bringing her gaze back to him. “We’re only doing this for your own good.”

‘They’re getting rid of you.’

‘They don’t want you.’

‘Worthless.’

“You need help. You haven’t been taking your pills, and you can’t let this control you.”

Josh was speechless, they were sending him away? For what, protecting himself?

“Why?! He had a gun, I was only protecting myself!”

His mother shook her head, “He didn’t have a gun, Josh.”

“I saw it! I even felt it!” Josh screamed. How could they do this to him?!

“It was his phone!” His father finally spoke up. “You almost beat a kid into a coma, because you haven’t been taking your pills. We know it’s not your fault, but it’s for your own good.”

Josh gulped. He was trembling, he was scared. ‘Don’t listen to them.’

‘They don’t want you.’

‘Worthless.’

“How long will I be away?” He whispered.

“Just a few weeks or maybe even a week. It depends how long it takes.” His mother whispered before placing a kiss on his forehead.

What were they trying to accomplish here? He thought. He just had to start taking his pill, no need to send him away.

“I’ll start taking my pills! Just please don’t send me away.” He broke away from his mother, and began to sob.

“They want to run some tests on you, and give you a higher dose. I’m sorry baby, I don’t want to do this, but I have too!” His mother cried.

Josh didn’t understand why she was crying, she was the one who was sending him away! She wasn’t leaving, he was. He looked around frantically, looking for an escape.

They were after him. They were going to hurt him.

Josh stood up abruptly, and backed into the corner. “Just leave me alone!” He screamed at everyone in the room. He was trembling, and scared, he just wanted to leave.

“Josh, you need to calm down!” His mother approached him slowly, with her hands up. She wanted to soothe her baby boy, but he wouldn’t let her.

“No, this is your fault! Don’t come near me!” He screamed at her, and tried to push her away, but the cop standing closely to him grabbed his arms, and placed the handcuffs around his wrists once more.

“Don’t worry ma’am, he’s in good hands.”

I'm not an expert about schizophrenia, but I did do research about it. So please do not get offend or send hate for this. I've had this planned for awhile now, and I was so excited I decided to write it!

Josh is also the only person in the book who has an illness. So this book isn't filled with people who have illnesses, just 1. Niall doesn't, its just how he has been born, and raised. Expect Narry fluff soon!

Question: What do you guys think of Josh now?
