Chapter 6
Shubman had to meet Jai Shah to get his contract reinstated. As the IPL season was underway, it was crucial for him to resolve the matter quickly. He picked up his phone and called Sara. She answered almost immediately.
"Hey Shubman, everything fine?" Sara's voice was warm and reassuring.
"Yeah," Shubman replied, though the slight edge in his voice betrayed his nerves. "I just wanted to meet Jai Shah sir to get my contract back because the IPL has started, right?"
"Yes, you're right," Sara acknowledged. "Have you taken an appointment?"
"I have," Shubman confirmed. "We need to be there in an hour."
"Okay then, why don't we meet there?" Sara suggested, knowing it would be easier for both of them.
"Good idea," Shubman agreed, feeling a bit more at ease. "See you there."
He disconnected the call and took a deep breath, trying to calm his racing thoughts. This meeting was crucial for his career, and having Sara by his side gave him a sense of support and confidence.
Shubman quickly got ready, donning a crisp white shirt and dark trousers, paired with a navy blazer. He looked sharp and professional, ready to face the BCCI officials. As he drove to the BCCI headquarters, he couldn't help but replay the recent events in his mind. The false accusations, the trial, the support from Sara, and his eventual exoneration had all led to this moment.
When he arrived at the BCCI office, Sara was already there, waiting for him. She looked elegant and professional in a navy blue blouse and beige trousers, her hair neatly tied back.
"Hey," Shubman greeted her with a smile. "Thanks for coming."
"Of course," Sara replied, giving him a reassuring smile. "Let's go in."
Together, they entered the building and were directed to Jai Shah's office. The atmosphere was formal, and the weight of the meeting hung in the air. They were soon ushered into the spacious office, where Jai Shah stood to greet them.
"Shubman, Sara, please have a seat," Jai Shah said, motioning towards the chairs opposite his desk.
"Thank you, sir," Shubman said, taking a seat.
Jai Shah looked at Shubman, his expression serious but not unkind. "Shubman, we've reviewed the case thoroughly. Given the evidence and your eventual exoneration, I see no reason why your contract shouldn't be reinstated."
Shubman felt a surge of relief. "Thank you, sir. I appreciate your understanding."
Jai Shah nodded. "You've been through a lot, and we believe in giving second chances. We expect you to uphold the values of the sport and continue to be a role model for many."
"I will, sir," Shubman assured him.
Sara chimed in, "Shubman has shown incredible resilience and integrity throughout this ordeal. I'm confident he'll continue to make us all proud."
Jai Shah smiled slightly. "I have no doubt about that. Your contract will be reinstated effective immediately. You can start preparing for the upcoming matches."
"Thank you so much, sir," Shubman said, feeling a weight lift off his shoulders.
As they left the office, Shubman turned to Sara. "I couldn't have done this without you. Thank you, Sara."
She smiled warmly. "You did most of the work, Shubman. I'm just glad I could help."
"How about we celebrate?" Shubman suggested, a spark of excitement in his eyes.
"I'd like that," Sara replied, feeling a sense of accomplishment and happiness.
As they walked out of the building, ready to face whatever the future held, Shubman knew that this was just the beginning of a new chapter in his life—one filled with hope, determination, and perhaps, a budding romance.
Shubman and Sara decided to celebrate his reinstatement at a nearby café. The atmosphere was cozy and intimate, a perfect setting to unwind after the tension of the meeting.
As they sat down, Shubman couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude towards Sara. "I really can't thank you enough, Sara. You've been my rock through all of this."
Sara smiled, her eyes twinkling. "It's what friends are for, Shubman. Plus, I believe in you. You're a great cricketer and an even better person."
They ordered coffee and light snacks, and as they waited, Shubman's phone buzzed with a call from Hardik Pandya.
"Hey, Hardik bhai," Shubman answered, a smile spreading across his face.
"Shubie, I heard the good news! Congrats, man!" Hardik's voice was full of excitement. "Virat bhai, Rohit bhai, KL, Yuzi, and I are planning a get-together tonight to celebrate. You have to come."
Shubman glanced at Sara, who nodded in approval. "That sounds great, bhai. Count me in."
Hardik chuckled. "And bring Sara along. We all want to thank her for what she's done for you."
Shubman relayed the message to Sara, who blushed slightly but agreed. "It sounds fun. I'd love to join."
Later that evening, Shubman and Sara arrived at Virat Kohli's house. The place was bustling with laughter and energy. As soon as they stepped in, they were greeted by their friends.
"Shubman, welcome back!" Virat said, pulling Shubman into a bear hug. "We've missed you on the field."
Rohit grinned. "It's good to have you back, Shub. And Sara, thank you for everything you've done."
Sara smiled, feeling a bit overwhelmed by the attention. "It was my pleasure, bhai. I'm just glad everything worked out."
KL clapped Shubman on the back. "Now that you're back, let's make sure you stay. No more trouble, okay?"
Yuzi, ever the joker, piped up. "Yeah, and if you ever get into trouble again, we'll send Sara to sort you out!"
Everyone laughed, and Sara playfully rolled her eyes. "I'll make sure he behaves."
As the evening progressed, the group settled into a comfortable rhythm. Ishan and Abhishek who had joined the gathering, couldn't resist teasing Shubman and Sara.
"Shubman, you sure you don't need a babysitter anymore?" Ishan quipped, winking at Sara.
Abhishek grinned. "Yeah, Sara, you must have your hands full keeping this guy out of trouble."
Shubman shook his head, laughing. "You guys are never going to let me live this down, are you?"
Hardik chimed in, his tone more serious but still lighthearted. "Shubman, you've got a great support system here. We're all behind you, no matter what."
Virat raised his glass. "To Shubman, to friends, and to new beginnings."
"Cheers!" everyone echoed, raising their glasses.
The celebration went late into the night, filled with laughter, stories, and camaraderie. As the party wound down, Shubman found a quiet moment with Sara on the balcony.
"Thank you for coming tonight, Sara," Shubman said, his voice soft and sincere. "It means a lot to me."
Sara smiled, looking out at the city lights. "I'm glad I came. It's nice to see you so happy and surrounded by people who care about you."
Shubman nodded, feeling a warmth in his chest. "I couldn't ask for better friends. Or a better... friend," he added, looking at her with a gentle smile.
Sara's eyes met his, and for a moment, everything else faded away. "You're a good person, Shubman. You deserve all the happiness in the world."
As they stood there, side by side, both felt a sense of peace and contentment. The future was uncertain, but with each other's support, they knew they could face whatever came their way. And maybe, just maybe, their story was only beginning.
Sara reached home, feeling the pleasant fatigue that comes from a night well-spent with friends. She went to her room and changed into her comfortable nightwear. As she settled on her bed, she pulled out her phone and scrolled through the pictures taken at the party. One particular photo caught her eye – a candid shot of her and Shubman laughing together, with Virat, Rohit, Hardik, and the rest of their friends in the background, smiling and raising their glasses.
With a warm smile, she decided to share the memory. She opened her social media app and posted the pictures.
A night to remember with the best people. Grateful for friends who turn tough times into unforgettable moments. #GoodTimes #FriendsLikeFamily #NewBeginnings

Sara chuckled at the comments, especially Ishan's teasing remark. She replied to a few comments and then put her phone down, her mind drifting back to the evening's events. The camaraderie, the support, and the unspoken understanding that had developed between her and Shubman.
As she lay there, a sense of contentment washed over her. She realized how fortunate she was to have such wonderful friends and a supportive family. Her thoughts wandered to Shubman and the bond they had formed. Maybe it was the beginning of something special, something more than just a professional relationship.
Before drifting off to sleep, Sara whispered to herself, "Here's to new beginnings and unexpected friendships." She closed her eyes, her heart full of hope and anticipation for what the future might hold.
