Chapter 13
It was the highly anticipated GT vs MI match, and the stadium was buzzing with excitement. Among the sea of fans, Sara was there, proudly cheering for the Mumbai Indians.
Sara was seated in the VIP section, waving a flag and joining the chorus of cheers for the Mumbai Indians. The match was intense, with both teams showcasing their best skills on the field.
As she settled into her seat, she noticed Ritika, Rohit Sharma's wife, sitting nearby. Ritika waved and made her way over to Sara, a warm smile on her face.
"Hey Sara, it's great to see you here! Supporting MI, I see," Ritika said, taking a seat beside her.
Sara grinned, "Of course, MI all the way! Plus, it's always fun to support the team when you're around."
Ritika laughed, "Absolutely! Though, I've heard there's some special reason for you being here today, isn't there?"
Sara blushed slightly, "Well, you know... I'm here for the match, but yes, it's also nice to catch up with some friends from GT."
Ritika raised an eyebrow, "Friends, huh? Or maybe just one in particular?"
Sara laughed, "Oh, come on, Ritika bhabhi. Let's focus on the match."
As the match progressed, the tension in the stadium grew. GT was putting up a tough fight, with Shubman Gill leading the charge. His elegant strokes and quick runs were a sight to behold.
"Shubman is in great form today," Ritika commented, glancing at Sara. "He's really giving it his all."
Sara nodded, trying to hide the mixture of pride and anxiety she felt. "Yeah, he's playing really well. But MI has some great bowlers. It's going to be a close match."
Ritika smiled knowingly, "You seem quite invested in his performance."
Sara rolled her eyes playfully, "Okay, maybe I am. But you can't deny he's a fantastic player."
The conversation shifted back to the game as the two women cheered, groaned, and clapped along with the rest of the crowd. MI's bowlers were working hard to keep GT's run rate in check, and the competition was fierce.
During a break, Ritika leaned closer to Sara. "You know, there's nothing wrong with supporting someone you care about. Even if they're on the opposing team."
Sara sighed, "I know. It's just... complicated. We're from different worlds, and there's so much attention on every little thing we do."
Ritika placed a reassuring hand on her arm. "Love and support can bridge any gap. Just focus on what makes you both happy. Everything else will fall into place."
As the match neared its conclusion, the atmosphere was electric. Every ball, every run, and every wicket drew loud reactions from the crowd. Shubman continued to play brilliantly, but MI's bowlers were determined to keep the pressure on.
In the final over, with GT needing a few runs to win, Shubman faced the bowler with intense concentration. The crowd was on the edge of their seats.
Sara held her breath as the ball was delivered. Shubman swung his bat, sending the ball soaring into the stands for a six. The stadium erupted in cheers and applause, both for the stunning shot and the thrilling finish to the match.
Ritika hugged Sara, "Well, looks like your friend just won the match for GT. Congratulations!"
Sara laughed, her heart swelling with pride. "Thanks, Ritika bhabhi. It was an incredible match."
As the teams shook hands on the field and the crowd began to disperse, Sara felt a mixture of emotions. She was thrilled for Shubman and proud of his performance, but also aware of the complexities their relationship faced.
"Come on, let's go congratulate him," Ritika said, pulling Sara towards the players' area.
Sara nodded, feeling grateful for Ritika's support and friendship. No matter what the future held, she knew she had people who cared about her and Shubman, and that made all the difference.
As Sara and Ritika made their way towards the players' area, Sara's heart pounded with excitement. She was eager to congratulate Shubman in person and share in the joy of his victory. However, as they approached, Sara's smile faltered.
She saw a girl, elegantly dressed, throw her arms around Shubman in a warm embrace. Shubman smiled and returned the hug, their familiarity evident. Sara's heart sank, and a pang of jealousy shot through her.
Without saying a word, she turned and began to walk away, her mind racing with thoughts and emotions. Ritika noticed her sudden change in demeanour and called out, "Sara, wait! Where are you going?"
Sara didn't respond and quickened her pace, needing to distance herself from the scene. She felt a lump in her throat and her eyes stung with unshed tears. She had always known that being close to Shubman would come with challenges, but seeing him with another girl was harder than she had anticipated.
Shubman, having noticed Sara's presence and abrupt departure, gently extricated himself from the embrace and hurried after her. "Sara! Wait, please!"
Sara kept walking, but Shubman caught up to her, gently grabbing her arm. "Sara, stop. Let me explain."
She turned to face him, her eyes glistening with tears. "There's nothing to explain, Shubman. I saw everything."
Shubman sighed, his expression earnest. "Sara, that was just a friend. She's an old family friend who came to congratulate me. There's nothing more to it, I swear."
Sara looked away, trying to compose herself. "It didn't look that way, Shubman. It looked like more than just a friendly hug."
Shubman stepped closer, his voice soft and sincere. "Sara, you have to trust me. You're the one I care about, the one I want to be with. Please don't let a misunderstanding come between us."
Sara's resolve wavered, and she looked back at him. "It's just hard, Shubman. With all the attention, the rumors, and now this... it's overwhelming."
Shubman gently cupped her face in his hands, his gaze steady and full of affection. "I understand, Sara. And I'm sorry if it hurt you. But I promise you, there's nothing between me and anyone else. Just you."
Tears finally spilled down Sara's cheeks, and she nodded, her voice trembling. "Okay. I trust you."
Shubman pulled her into a tender hug, holding her close. "Thank you, Sara. I promise I'll always be honest with you."
Ritika, who had been watching from a distance, smiled and approached them. "You two are going to be just fine. Come on, let's celebrate the win together."
Sara and Shubman both laughed, the tension easing. They joined the rest of the team, who welcomed them with cheers and playful teasing. Despite the earlier misunderstanding, the evening turned into a celebration of both the victory and the bond between Sara and Shubman.
As the night progressed, the joy and camaraderie of the group made Sara realize that while challenges would always be there, the love and trust she shared with Shubman were worth every bit of effort. They faced the future together, stronger than ever.
As the celebration continued, the group eventually settled into a more relaxed atmosphere, enjoying drinks and conversation. Ritika noticed Sara's lingering glances towards Shubman and couldn't resist teasing her.
Ritika leaned over to Sara and whispered, "So, you were pretty quick to get jealous back there. What's going on between you and Shubman?"
Sara blushed and shook her head. "There's nothing going on, bhabhi. We're just friends."
Ritika raised an eyebrow, smirking. "Friends, huh? Friends usually don't get that worked up over a hug."
Sara sighed, looking down at her drink. "I don't know, bhabhi. It's confusing. I care about him a lot, but we're not dating. Sometimes I wonder if I'm reading too much into things."
Ritika nodded thoughtfully. "Well, feelings can be complicated. But from where I'm standing, it looks like you have more than just 'friendly' feelings for him."
Sara looked up, her eyes filled with uncertainty. "I guess I do have feelings for him, but I'm scared to admit it. What if he doesn't feel the same way? What if it ruins our friendship?"
Ritika placed a comforting hand on Sara's shoulder. "You won't know unless you talk to him about it. Shubman seems to care about you a lot. And from what I've seen, he might feel the same way."
Sara bit her lip, her mind racing. "It's just so complicated. We're both so busy, and his life is constantly in the spotlight. I don't know if I can handle that."
Ritika gave her a reassuring smile. "Love is never easy, Sara. But if it's real, it's worth fighting for. Take your time, figure out what you really want, and then talk to Shubman. He deserves to know how you feel."
Sara nodded, feeling a mix of relief and apprehension. "Thanks, bhabhi. I really needed to hear that."
As the night went on, Sara couldn't help but steal glances at Shubman, her heart torn between fear and hope. She knew that eventually, she would have to confront her feelings and decide whether to take a leap of faith.
For now, she enjoyed the company of her friends, cherishing the moment and the possibility of what the future might hold.
After their heartfelt conversation, Sara checked her phone and saw that Ritika had posted a new picture on Instagram. It was a candid shot of the two of them laughing and enjoying themselves from earlier in the evening.
Ritika had tagged Sara in the photo and added a playful caption.

Seeing these comments, Sara felt a mixture of joy and nervousness. She appreciated the lightheartedness and support from the team but couldn't help thinking about her own unresolved feelings for Shubman.
As she closed her phone, Sara took a deep breath and resolved to take things one step at a time. She was grateful for the support of her friends and the positive energy surrounding her, and she hoped that whatever the future held, she would face it with clarity and courage.
