Chapter 11
It had been days since Mika had seen Reika. He knew she was hurting so chose to leave her alone. But he was too.
Today, all the vampires were buzzing in excitement, the upcoming battle causing this. Mika couldn't help but to be as well, hoping he will finally find Yuu and rescue him from the humans. He remembered when Reika promised to help him yet she was nowhere in sight, still locked in her and Ferid's room.
Thinking enough is enough, he decided to tell her the news. He walked towards their room, seeing the door come nearer and nearer. But then he stopped dead in his tracks, catching whiff of what lay inside.
He smelt blood. And a lot of it.
He covered his nose, clenching his teeth as the lust for the substance hit him hard. His eyes flashed red for a moment but quickly subsided once he gained control. He didn't want to go in but Reika was in there.
Without another thought, he shoved opened the door.
"Reika, what's going-"
He froze, cutting himself off. What he saw in front of him made his eyes widen in shock.
There was a child on the ground, unconscious, blood seeping from the bite mark on its neck. The child was alive but barely, almost as pale as a sheet of paper. Ferid was leaning against the wall, watching the scene in amusement, almost a proud look in his eyes. Then there was Reika.
Her fangs were buried in the neck of another child, taking too much of what the little human could handle. Her eyes were red, the usual blue eyes gone. She almost looked like a hungry beast not having been fed in days. She looked up, hearing the sound of the door creak. She saw Mika and stood up, dropping the child's body like a rag doll, licking her lips, savoring the taste of blood.
"Like what you see?" she asked, a wicked smile on her face, watching him snap out of shock.
He snapped, "what the hell are you doing?"
"Being a vampire. After all, that is what we are," her usual gentle voice was gone, replaced with a sly and seductive one, almost resembling the call of a succubus.
He turned to the noble, stepping towards him with a menacing look, "what did you do to her?"
Ferid's lips curled into a smirk, "I just showed her the true meaning of being what she really is."
"What does that mean?" Mika demanded.
"Vampires can turn off their emotions. No remorse, no feelings. I simply showed her how, she did the rest," the noble stated, eyeing his handy work like an art piece, an imperious glint in his eyes.
"How do you turn it back on?" the blonde vampire questioned.
"You can't," Reika stepped in, walking towards him, the scent of blood strong on her clothing as she went. She stopped as she stood right in front of him, staring at his horrified face with a satisfied grin, "Only I can. And there's no way in hell I am going to do that."
"Please, Reika, this isn't you. You never wanted to become a monster. This isn't you at all," Mika pleaded, gripping her shoulders, as if to snap her back to her senses.
Reika jerked away from his grip, glaring at him with her evil tinted eyes as she spoke venomously, "The old me didn't know what it's like to be like this. Free. Free from anything! I was weak and pathetic, getting stabbed repeatedly and the pain became unbearable. I am free, Mika. This is what I've always wanted."
She walked towards the body on the floor, lifting the child up like it was nothing. She glided her finger across the blood seeping from its neck, a sinister look on her face as she showed Mika the red substance. He could feel the hunger hit him hard. He grunted, trying to hold the beast inside of him back but couldn't take his eyes off the blood.
"Come on, Mika. Join me. Turn off your emotions. You will love it, the feeling of being free from your humanity," she held her hand out, blood coating the tip of her fingernails.
Mika gulped, the vampire side of him urging him to take her offer. He reached for her hand but then stopped, retracting it, knowing it was wrong.
"This isn't what Naoki would want! He wouldn't want you to become this monster!" Mika yelled at her.
Reika's eyes widen for a moment, feeling the dull ache in her heart as she remembered the little boy she cared deeply for. An emotion tried to push itself against the invisible barrier, trying to making her feel anything. For a split second, she agreed with him. But then her vampire side demolished this thought and her red eyes narrowed into a glare.
"Naoki is dead," she said bitterly, "what he thinks doesn't matter anymore."
"What about me? What about your promise? You promised me you will help me find Yuu," he tried to make her feel the usual compassion she had always had.
"I had made that promise when I had emotions. Now, promises don't matter. They were made to be broken anyways," she shrugged nonchalantly.
"What about the boy of your past? The promise you made to him? You were going to marry him if you were to reunite." Mika felt as if acid was on his tongue as he spoke those words. It hurt him to say it but it was true. He tried to make her feel the love for him even though it pained him to say it. He just wanted her back.
"He's probably dead," she said simply.
"And what if he isn't? What would you do if you saw him?"
Memories flashed before her eyes. Yes, she had received all her memories back. Krul had said to her that in order to regain everything she previously lost, she would have to drink human blood. And now she has. She remembered everything.
Her family... Yuu... Love...everything.
Her hand inched towards the bracelet that was wrapped around her wrist, remembering the times she had spent with him and the love she held for him. The emotion tried to push against the barrier one last time, but was not strong enough. Her hand stopped midway, a scowl forming on her face, the vampire side conquering once again.
"I..I," she hesitated, a little bit of emotion slipping through but she soon snapped back to her emotionless demeanor as she finished the cruel sentence.
"I would kill him."
Mika's eyes widened at her response. He had never seen her like this, so wicked and monstrous. He knew he had to get her back somehow. But how? How do you make an emotionless person feel? It sounds impossible.
"Well, not that this isn't fun or anything," Ferid said happily, "the plane is about to depart. The bloody battlefield awaits us."
The noble held out his hand for Reika to take, a seductive smile on his face. She nodded, taking his hand. She sent one last look to Mika before leaving the room with Ferid by her side.
Mika stood there, frozen. He was at lost as to what to do. But nethertheless, he knew he had to succeed and bring the girl back. He had to bring her back no matter what. He vowed to himself and even promised Naoki that he would.
He didn't even get the chance to tell him how he truly felt about her.
With that thought in mind, he turned away and walked off, his mind made up and the determination in his heart flaring like a wildfire.

As the plane touched the ground, the sound of shouting and screaming was heard, a battle taking place. Vampires and humans clashed each other head on, none letting the other win without a fight. There was just absolute chaos and madness.
"Stay close to me no matter what," Ferid told Reika, knowing that the fact that she had turned off her emotions could make her reckless.
"Oh, darling, like you could ever tell me what to do," she smiled slyly before bolting from her seat, running out to the mayhem that was taking place. Her eyes brightened at the sight, gripping her sword tightly, a sadistic glint shining from her red orbs. The old her hated war but the new one found it beautiful in a twisted way.
She swung her sword, killing the humans in her way. She was incredibly skillful with a sword, her strength and speed making her victorious in every way. Mika fought behind her, making sure to be there when she needed it but truly, she didn't. She could handle herself. Mika watched as she fought ruthlessly, yet her motions fluid and graceful. Like a war goddess. Ferid watched in awe, standing on top of rubble to gaze at the full scale battle.
A familiar face was seen in the midst of the chaos. The leader she had previously saved, Guren, was engaged with a heated fight against three vampires. A little bit of hope slipped through her eyes, only to be crushed by her dark side, erasing any type of emotion. She shook her head then kept on fighting.
Guren took down the last of the three vampires he was fighting, a triumphant smirk settling on his face. He looked around, analyzing the battle, forming a plan in his mind to defeat the vampires.
Then he saw Reika. He froze for a moment, remembering how she had saved him. He remembered her beautiful blue eyes full of compassion. But he took notice in the color change, seeing her blood red eyes glow. Her once gentle features were now cruel and wicked. He was shocked at her actions, wondering what had happened in such a short amount of time that had turned her into a monster.
He fought his way over to her, swinging his sword to any vampire that stood in his way. Soon, he finally reached her. They clashed swords, each gazing at each other's eyes.
"We meet again," he chuckled, shoving her backwards with a mighty thrust of his weapon.
"Finally," she breathed, pushing back with her vampire strength, his grip faltering slightly.
She lunged at him, snarling. Catching him off guard, he fell to the ground, wincing as he made harsh contact with the concrete. He cursed at himself for acting weak, just because she had previously saved him. He tried to convince himself that she was nothing but a bloodthirsty vampire but just couldn't, remembering her human like eyes smiling at him as she saved him from certain death.
Smirking, Reika reached down and grabbed his collar, lifting him up with her inhuman strength. He heard the slight sound of the material tearing from her strong hold. He gripped onto her arm, trying to make her let him go but to no prevail. His sword lay on the ground, out of reach. He had no way to escape.
Reika stared at him, the smell of his blood pumping making her fangs lengthen. But then, a slight pain shot through her brain. It was like a warning. Her old self was screaming at her to not do it but she wanted to so badly, thanks to her emotionless demeanor. She frowned, realizing she was holding back and didn't know why. Was it because she had saved him prior to this? Or was it the compassionate side of her telling her to stop?
Using her confusion and her distracted state, the emotion pushed through the barrier, shattering the wall that blocked all feelings. Her eyes turned back to her gentle blue and tears started to fall down her cheeks. Guren froze in shock at this sudden turn. She quickly let him go of her grip. He stood cautiously in front of her.
"Hurry!" she urged, "please, kill me!"
His eyes widened at her request. "W-What?"
"I can't control it anymore! It will take over!" she cried, "Kill me! Hurry!"
He couldn't bring himself to.
Suddenly her eyes turned red once again. She smirked, wiping away the pathetic tears from her face. Her lips tugged into a smirk and Guren knew she had changed once again. He picked up his sword and held it tightly.
"Stupid, weak, little me. If only I could erase that part of me," the dark side of her sneered, before glaring at her opponent. "That was your fault."
Reika glowered at him once last time before walking off, nodding to the vampires around her, gesturing for them to attack Guren. Knowing she had a higher rank than theirs, they complied and lunged at the leader.
She walked over to Ferid, watching the battle with him. Her eyes were glued on Guren, watching him defeat the vampires she had sent. She clenched her fist in anger, cursing at those vampires for being so weak. She wanted him dead. She wanted the old her to completely disappear, no emotions forever. But that will never happen as long as he was alive... as well as Yuu. Even Mika. They triggered the other side of her. The compassionate one.
A cruel smile fell on her lips as she thought to herself, 'Looks like I'm going to have to kill them all in order to completely erase her.'
