A gasp tore through her throat as she awoke, stale oxygen filled her parched lungs, eliciting a cough from her.

It was so dark she couldn't tell if her eyes were open or not.

Fear clouded her confusion, her small, delicate hands felt around for a handle, a light, anything that would give her some clue as to what was going on.

She hissed as a sharp pain stabbed her finger.

She was trapped in a coffin, nothing but the clothes on her back with her. She pushed against the rough wood, using all her strength to try and open it, but to no avail.

"H.. help!" she cried out, her voice quiet and scratchy from the lack of use.

She hit the lid of the coffin, using her fists and feet to try to open it. Only receiving splinters and scratches in return as she screamed out as loud as she could.

Hoping, praying, to get someones attention, anyone's.

Before she knew it, she was running out of air, her mind grew fuzzy, and her eyes struggled to stay open.

Nevertheless she continued trying to escape. Every hit grew weaker and weaker, her voice fading and soon everything slipped away.

*************

Cold nipped at her exposed flesh as she woke, fresh air filled her lungs. Goosebumps formed on her skin, turning it a pinkish hue as she pushed herself up.

Her limps tingled, weak from no use as she ventured forwards, the dew covered grass tickled her bare feet.

She held her hands out, struggling to see through the darkness. It was better than in the coffin, thanks to the moonlight, but not by much. She yelped in pain as she fell back, sharp stinging stabbing at her foot.

"Cassandra?"

The small woman tensed at the sudden voice. She looked up, wide eyed like a deer caught in headlights. Her midnight colored eyes landed on a man and a woman, she whimpered, backing away as best she could.

"Blossom... it's okay.. It's me, Kathrine." the woman spoke, Cassandra's face scrunched up, tears fell down her cheeks. She tried to speak, but no words escaped her.

Katherine quickly rushed to her side, pulling Cassandra to her, "Shh.. it's alright, Blossom.." she cooed, gently petting the frightened woman's hair, "I've got you." Cassandra whimpered, curling up against her friend.

"Let's get her home." the man piped up, Katherine nodded, sliding her arms under Cassandra's legs and behind her back.

Katherine held her close and stood, carrying her to a car as the man got in the driver's seat.

Cassandra was laid in the back seat, Katherine with her. The brunette letting the smaller cling to her. Katherine soothingly ran her hands through Cassandra's hair, humming a soft tune as she did so. It didn't take long before Cassandra was fast asleep, curled up against and clinging to Katherine.

"She's different than you described." the man, aka Mason Lockwood, commented, eyeing the two women in the rear view mirror.

"It must've been the spell Emily cast." the vampire offered, "She had cast a second spell the night we put her to sleep. I don't know what it was, but I don't quite care."

Mason smiled, "You really care about her." "Of course, she reminds me of how I wanted to raise my daughter." Katherine smiled, brushing Cassandra's hair behind her ear. He nodded, turning his attention back to the road.

*************

Once Katherine and Mason returned to where they were staying, Katherine carried the the young woman into the house, smiling fondly at her daughter figure.

She had missed the pure, naive Salvatore so badly, but she knew it was for the best.

"Get her to bed, I'll take care of everything else." Mason smiled sweetly at the vampire doppelganger, pressing a chaste kiss to her lips. She smiled, "Thank you, moya lyubov(my love)."

Being careful not to wake Cassandra, Katherine carefully lifted her small figure and held her tightly to her chest before venturing into the house at a human pace, all the while humming her favorite lullaby.

The Petrova laid herself and Cassandra down like they used to always sleep before Katherine put her to sleep.

The female Salvatore was curled up against Katherine's side, her knees pulled to her chest as she unconsciously hugged the vampire.

Katherine smiled as Cassandra nuzzled her shoulder before letting out a content sigh as she ran her fingers through the sleeping woman's snow white hair.

"Sweet dreams, little Blossom." Katherine hummed softly before she too fell asleep.

Mason walked in on the sight and froze at first, before a warm smile graced his features. He quietly walked into the room and pulled the blankets over the two women.

He then kissed his mate's head, mumbled a 'Good Night' and left, shutting the lights off and closing the door on his way out.

*************

Cassandra woke the next morning to the sun's warm rays shining gently down upon her. She sleepily climbed out of the soft bed, her long silver hair lightly dragged against the floor as she padded out of the room.

She wondered down a hallway, ignoring the ache in her left foot as she stumbled upon the kitchen. Katherine was sitting at island whilst Mason was at the stove.

Mason jumped upon seeing Cassandra, looked to what had startled her mate, only to jump as well. Neither of them had heard the small woman's arrival. "Good morning, Blossom." Katherine smiled, opening her arms to the Salvatore.

Cassandra hugged Kathrine like a child would hug their mother after their first day of school. The Petrova laughed softly, holding the Salvatore tightly.

"Mason's making breakfast, Blossom. Are you hungry?" "Mhm." the white haired woman nodded, pulling away from the brunette slightly, Mason chuckled softly, "I'll be done soon."

"Okay." she murmured, playing with her sleeves, "While he's doing that, how about we get you cleaned up and into fresh clothes?" Katherine hummed, gently grasping Cassandra's smaller hand. She nodded, letting her best friend and motherly figure tug her back down the hall to the room she'd woken up in.

"Let's get you cleaned up first."
