.Prologue.
It was raining cats and dogs here again and she was feeling exactly like "Bella" stuck in Forks. Well, it rains more than Forks here, after all, it's the world's wettest place and all. And she absolutely loathed,it here. The place has just managed to turn her more gloomy than ever.
Sighing, she continued sitting on her window glaring ruefully at the weather outside. She was acting as if it was the sole cause of her misery. It wasn't but she felt like letting out her misery on something and what better victim was out there than the rain. The tears of cloud themselves.
She was glaring outside, imagining the shadowy forms of the source of her anger outside when she actually heard the commotion from downstairs. It sounded like someone was trying to break the door down and her heart rate spiked automatically. No, this can't be true. It can't be happening. She thought as her heart took a sudden and very violent plunge in a lake of molten lead.
Gathering her fleeting courage she took slow steps towards her door trying to see what was actually happening.
"Natasha take her and run, " she heard her "uncle" scream there seemed to be some more muttered conversation between Natasha and her uncle that got muffled by the continuous tries of bringing down the main gate.
"Go, I'll hold them down" it was an order she knew it from the tone of his voice. There were loud steps trudging upstairs and before she knew it. The door had given up. There were loud gunshots, flying curses and some words she had never heard in her entire life. She was in midst of a live shootout game. An Assassination.
Bullets were fired around like a child's play and before she knew it. She saw her Uncle being hit with three bullets at the same time. His eyes were wide open full of surprise as he fell down. The unseeing eyes staring right where she was. She was sick. He was no more, a part of her declared but she couldn't look away from his broken bleeding form.
Natasha has finally reached her and whether she was shocked by her stance. She didn't know, She couldn't make herself care or act at that moment. She has just seen a person being killed. She wasn't okay, A person just died in front of her just like that. She didn't know anything, anymore.
She didn't even register Natasha's actions in her room until she was dragged to the balcony and brutally shaken to the reality.
"Climb down, I'll follow you, hurry" Natasha ordered her in a desperate tone and she wanted to tell her that she is afraid of heights. She can't do it. Its too much. She had never climbed down the balcony with the help of a bed sheet rope but Natasha was firm. And so with bated breath and thumping heart, she started her descent.
She was halfway down the rope when she heard the gunshots again. Dread filled her heart realizing what Natasha did and before she could make it down and hide. The assassins had spotted her.
They shot at her and she fell. And it was all just pain around her as she rested on the hard ground for what felt like an eternity. A gaping wound somewhere on her. She was going to die and she knew it. There was nothing more to be done for her. No one, else to save her. She was waiting her death even though she wanted to live.
When she heard the assassin again, they were standing over her. Flashing her their phone with a name, a very familiar name. A name she knew by blood bonds. And she felt anger surge through her, anger like never before as she glared at the screen. She hoped he died a very painful death.
"Yes, the work is done. She is dead. I'll send you the pic if you want. Keep the money ready, " she heard them say and to spite her more they put the phone on speaker the oddly familiar yet unfamiliar voice greeted her painful form.
"Send the proof, you'll get double of what was decided, " she didn't know if it was possible for her heart to break more but it did at that moment. It truly did.
She didn't have even single energy to feel anything besides distraught. She couldn't ever curse the assassin when he told her "nothing personal sweetheart, just a deal of gold. So, goodbye"
They were killing her and it felt very personal to her but she never got to say that loud as a bullet pierced her with the familiar "Oberoi" tone ringing in her mind.
