The knights just shouldnt go outside in genral anymore
Merlin bounced up and down as he gathered supplies for Arthur. He insisted on holding Arthur's things. Why was beyond Arthur. On there way to the horse people shot them looks. Ones that didn't particularly make Arthur feel better.
"Stay close to me" the dark glint in each persons eyes setting off radars in his brain. Something was off. They didn't however notice the figure set off into the night.
Arriving at the stables arthur noticed the utter adoration Merlin had towards the horses. The horses responded well in return. Melting into his soft touch. Leaning into it almost. When Arthur went near a horse it looked at him as if expecting a apple, but with Merlin it seemed the horses were willing to take a arrow for him. They would travel to the ends of the earth. Trust lined all over there eyes. Merlin looked back at Arthur and titled his head.
"What?"
"They trust you."
"What is that supposed to mean?"
"Not only do they trust you but they see you as a friend"
"I don't get it" Arthur looked at him a second more. Did he really not know what I'm talking about? Sighing, he got on his horse. The knights came shortly after and soon they were off. Farther and farther they went into the Forrest.
"Oh!" Arthur turned around to see Merlin pulling something out of his bag. "I made you guys something!" Arthur frowned as flower crowns were pulled out of his bag.
"That's really not necessary-"
"No no I insist!" Merlin handed flower crowns to everyone with a big smile. Of course gwaine, Leon, Percival and Elyan put theirs on without a single hesitation. Some of the knights whom haven't meet Merlin yet looked extremely confused. Merlin then turned to Arthur and smiled.
"I saved the best one for you!" Arthur frowned but quickly hid it with a smile. (Which may have looked a little more like a grimace). Gwaine chuckled while Leon looked full ready to burst laughing. Merlin pulled out a rainbow flower crown with the most exotic and random flowers Arthur had seen. A rocks aligned the twigs holding it together. Grabbing it Arthur put it on. Merlin burst into a wide smile. Quickly putting one on himself he nonchalantly continued walking. The other knights with them all seemed EXTREMELY uncomfortable. Red blushing faces filled them.
Riding they approached a strong patch of fog. Weight gathering in his stomachs like rocks. Something was wrong. And Arthur had no clue what. He put his hands up and everyone stopped (excluding Merlin who had to get some help from gwaine.)
"Stick together! Merlin your with me" riding a bit ahead Merlin came next to Arthur. Close as the horses would allow them they started riding through the fog at a slow trot. As they got deeper the fog got thicker, and it became harder to see. Soon Arthur couldn't see his own hands.
"Merlin?"
"Yeah?"
"Just making sure your there"
"I would never leave you Arthur" if it weren't for the creepy fog and what Arthur was 99% sure was a spider crawling up his back, that would of been a extremely cute and romantic moment. Despite this it still brought a smile to Arthurs face.
"What's that?" Merlin called, Arthur squinted (like narrowing his eyesight would help) but still couldn't see anything but fog.
"What do you see?"
"I don't see anything Arthur I felt something"
"Like a twig"
"No arthur I mean- turn around"
"What?"
"TURN AROUND!" Panic soaking every word.
That's when a arrow flew right in front of Arthur's face. It was too late.
With Wide eyes his horse reared up. Peoples yells shouted from the tree lines. The problem was Arthur couldn't see them.
"GO GO GO!" He screamed and shot forward. Only hoping with every ounce of breath in him Merlin followed. He started to see again and smiled at the familiar blob of black hair next to him. Focusing once again Arthur rode out of the fog. Turning around about to tell merlin to wait for the others he noticed nothing but a lonely horse.
"MERLIN!" Came the panicked voice, Arthur rode around looking for a exit out of the fog, finding none. Screaming over and over again for someone who it seemed would never reply Arthur finally rode back. Panicky he got off his horse and grabbed a map right away. He sat down and started studying it without another word.
"We're fine thanks for asking princess" Arthur nodded and continued to study the maps. Leon then sat next to Arthur.
"What's wrong" inclining his head to see him Arthur whispered one simple sentence. A simple sentence of pain and misery.
"Merlins gone"

"You know it's very rude to kidnap people." The lanky boy spoke. The cloaked nameless man hit the side of the carriage once again. Earning a grumbling sound. Softly riding he made off with the full carriage of people. They were never looking for knights, they wanted people unable to struggle back. Unfortunately the lanky boy would not shut up. If it weren't for the fact they discovered he had magic, they would of already returned him politely. Magic users happened to be worth twice as much in Agravains army.
The chip chop of the carriage ranged on as the boy would not shut up. Usually the people stayed quiet, terrified of the large rope the man carried on his cloak.
"How do you sleep at night? You should be ashamed of yourself" the man groaned as the boy talked on.
"Shut up."
"No"
"I'm tired of your endless talking boy."
"Hi I'm tried of your endless flaming boy, I'm merlin" the man abruptly stopped the carriage and walked out. He reached into the carriage and grabbed the boy by the hair pulling him right up to his face. His breaths hot against his face.
"I said. Shut up"
"And I said no" the man reached his arm back and slapped him. The lan- merlin, recoiled and shrunk into himself.
"Now now. This ones special. Do not harm him" a soft silky voice rang out. Stepping out of the neighboring carriage she ran her hand threateningly down merlins face. Grabbing it she examined his face.
"Oh yes. He reeks of magic. He'll get a high price. I'll take him in my carriage. You tend to loose your prisoners"
"I do not"
"Now is not the time for idiocy. Common let's go" the man grumbled but complied. Steadily they made there way to Agravains castle. Thinking about the new shoes she saw at the market place with her name on it.
One small simple thought plagued merlins mind, a simple plea for help. The simple hope of Arthur. The simplest thing to hold on to. He hoped for rescue.
And Arthur had the same goal in mind.
