Scarlett.
Between the holiday traffic and the constant stops we had to make so Nina can pee, Dean finally announces that we are here. Nina jolts up and reaches her hands over my seat, placing both hands on my shoulders, and peers out the windshield. "Ahh I am so excited!" She squirms in hear seat in excitement.
I giggle and look back out the window to see the beautiful long driveway that is covered in snow. Snow covered juniper and pine trees trail on both sides of the driveway. I roll down my window to smell the scent of pine trees, but the smell is less pungent with all of the snow. Instead, my face is immediately cold as the crisp air hits it. I shiver and roll the window back up, putting my jacket on before we get out of the car. "Burr. Man it is colder than I thought it was going to be."
We all get out of our cars. Dex and Kaitlyn drove up separately while Nina, Caleb, and I drove with Dean in his jeep. The minute my foot hits the ground, it makes a crunch noise against the snow. I exhale and see my own breath in the frosty air.
"Let's go inside." Dean suggests. We all nod and grab our bags.
We all make our way into the charming chalet style log home by entering the deck door up the stairs. First thing we walk into is a open kitchen, the dining room, and the large living room that has large windows illuminating the home, bringing the beauty of the outdoors inside. Caleb and Dex show the girls where their rooms are because they have been here. Their room is towards the back and shares a bathroom.
Dean puts out his hand for me to grab and smiles. "Follow me. I will show you our room for the weekend." I grab his hand and follow him up the spiraled staircase. I used to be obsessed with these types of stairs when I was a kid. Princess stairs is what I referred to them as.
The entire upstairs is dedicated to the master bedroom. To the far right corner is a King sized bed with matching dressers and also a vanity. The walls are bearing, leaving the beautiful logs untouched. On the nightstand, there is a framed picture of Dean, Marie, and is that...
"Is that your father?" I ask. It has to be. He looks almost identical to him. I thought he resembled Marie with the blue eyes, but Marie's are a softer blue and her hair is light colored. The man in the photo has the same exact electric blue eyes, dark hair, and even the smirk that Dean has.
Dean clasps his hands behind his neck. "Yeah, that's him. Before he turned into a piece of shit, he used to be a great guy and a good dad to me growing up." He exhales, moving his arms so that they dangle at his sides now. "Enough depressing issues for today. How about some snowboarding?" His frown turns into a grin and I smile. Dropping the subject of the man that just up and left his wonderful son and wife for another woman.
"Just watch us pooh bear. We will show you ladies how it's done." Caleb says and kisses Nina. All of the boys hop onto the ski lift and we watch in horror as they climb higher and higher.
I gulp, my foot is jolting up and down. I should have known it would be high, I mean he said snowboarding and I know it is on a mountain, obviously. But, my fear of heights is coming into light today now that we are actually here. This is a first for Nina and me, trying out snowboarding. Kaitlyn says she has done it before and is not really wanting to participate today.
"You are sure you don't want to try it?" Nina asks Kaitlyn as she double checks her boot on the board, making sure it is secure.
"Me? Yeah, I am fine. I would rather just sit in the lodge over there and maybe just watch everyone fall on their butts." She laughs sarcastically and my stomach turns at the thought of falling off of a damn mountain. "Besides-"she says pulling out a card from her pocket, "I have this. I plan on getting some drinks in me."
"What on Earth? Where did you get a fake I.D?" Nina asks.
Kaitlyn grins, shoving the ID back in her pocket. "I know people who know people. I can get you two some if you want, and then maybe we can go to a club or something."
Without hesitating, I shake my head side to side. "I don't really feel like going to jail. I am 18 now, and that shit would stay on my record. So, thanks but no thanks."
Nina nodded the entire time I was talking. "Yeah Kaitlyn I agree with Scarlett. You should really be careful though. Pretty sure they have some devices or whatever now that can detect whether or not it is a fake ID."
Kaitlyn flashes her eyes at both of us and shrugs her shoulders. "Eh, I will be fine. You guys suit yourself. I will be at the bar, if you could let Dexie know." She winks and walks off towards the lodge bar.
"Dexie?" Nina and I ask simultaneously. She has been around for a few weeks now and I think her true colors are starting to show a little more and more. Her little attitude peeping through.
Nina rolls her eyes in disgust, retching before she looks towards the boys. "Look!" She exclaims, pointing to the top of the hill. The boys were already making their way down. Dex was weaving side to side in a slow pace but controlled. Dean and Caleb on the other hand, are a different story. "Umm, don't you think they are going a tad to fast?" Nina asks.
I am cautious not to say anything that will freak her out, but I agree. They are going to fast. "They will be fi..."
Shit. Right when I am saying they will be fine Caleb face plants into the fresh powder of snow. "Ooh, ouch." I turn my head and close my eyes briefly before looking back to see where Dean was. Dean came to a complete stop and is now helping Caleb up from the ground, his entire front side covered with snow.
I hear Nina snickering next to me when the boys were back to snowboarding the rest of the way down, Caleb proving he was okay. "And he said to watch him." We both laugh and stop as soon as the boys reach us.
"Ready?" Dean asks, trying to catch his breath.
I shake my head and look towards Nina as if to tell her save me because I know Dean is going to make me do this. Don't be chicken shit Scar. I grab Dean's hand and start guiding us towards the ski lift. Rushing before I have another second to talk myself out of this madness.
Dean is chuckling as we ride up the mountain. The view is breathtaking, but I will not admit that out loud. Why does this damn ride have to be so slow? Just get me off of this already. Both my hands are gripping the thin metal bar that is over us and I am as stiff as a rock. Finally, we reach the top and Dean tells me I need to leap off or basically get stuck riding down the mountain in this thing again. I obviously was not going to let that happen so I watch Dean glide off the lift with ease, landing smoothly on his board. That doesn't look to hard, I think to myself when I attempt copying what Dean did. Scooting to the edge of the still rotating lift, I place the board on the ground and as soon as I push myself off, I fall face first into the snow.
Dean helps me up and I can't help but laugh at my clumsy self. Dean gives me a two-minute crash course on how to stop and slow my pace so that I don't fly down the mountain. He begins his way down and I gulp, standing at the top of this snow-covered hill, my heart racing. Let's get this over with. I start gliding down the hill, weaving side to side and digging my heel in the snow to brake. I was slowly making my way down, but I was doing it.
Dean isn't that far ahead, as I am sure he is slowing down for me. I am past the half-way point when I suddenly hear a girl shrieking from behind me. Glancing back over my shoulder, I catch a glimpse of bright pink coming right at me. It was inevitable what was about to happen, as Nina was too close for me to move out of the way. Her eyes widened with terror and her arms are flailing helplessly when she collides with me. Nina falls right on her side and I land right on my tailbone, a sharp pain shooting up my body as soon as it hit.
"Ow." I groan, rubbing the lower part of my back.
Nina sits up and meets my gaze. "I am so sorry! Are you okay? I couldn't stop or slow down. I am so sorry!" She quaked.
"It's fine. Really. I am just going to be sore is all. Are you okay?"
She nods frantically. "Yeah I am good." She lightly chuckles, her cheeks red with frustration.
A small smile forms on the corner of my mouth, rolling up a cold ball of snow behind my back. "Good." I say and chuck the snowball at her, hitting her right in the chest. We start laughing as we both scurried to build more ammo out of snow.
The rest of the afternoon was fun and there wasn't any more collisions. We ended up going to the local market in town to get some essentials for meals for the weekend and I almost croaked when I saw $268.32 printed in bold on the receipt. It's a lovely town up in the mountains, of course everything is more expensive.
Everyone took a vote and unanimously I am chosen to cook dinner tonight while everyone sits in the living room together conversing about tomorrow. I decide on making a big pot of beef stroganoff. Simple and easy.
Once I finish cooking up dinner, I make everyone a plate and then head to the living room where Dean has set up all of the dinner trays for us so that we can eat and watch a movie.
"Damn that was bomb dot com Scarlett." Dex chimes while he rubs his now bloated belly. That tends to happen once you stuff three and a half plates down. Caleb comes out of the kitchen from doing the dishes and we all sit on the couch, full and not sure what to do with ourselves. Personally, I am tired. It's been a long and eventful day. I stand from the couch and get ready to speak when Kaitlyn says,
"We should play a game. Anyone up for some strip never have I ever?" She snickers and observes everyone's blank stares. "Aww come on. Have any of you ever played?" She must have hit her head in that bar or definitely drank too much to suggest something like this. Who on earth just ups and offers to strip for a game?
Everyone shakes their head, denying that they have never played this absurd game, including myself. "Oh, well looks like I am going to teach you young grasshoppers how it is done."
Surprisingly Caleb and Dex sit down, followed by Nina. A circle beginning to form, one that I really do not want to be a part of. "Do you want to play babe?" Dean whispers to me.
"No." I scoff. "Are you?"
"Not if you aren't. I am ready to go to sleep if you want. You look tired." He does a quick once-over on me. The dark circles probably visible under my eyes from sleep deprivation.
I swear I am an old lady, it is only 10:00 P.M. "You know what, sure. Let's play one game and then we go to bed."
Dean doesn't look to sure of this right now, but instead of trying to argue, he smirks and we sit down on the plushy carpeted floor with the rest of the group.
"Okay so the rule of the game is someone says never have I ever and they say something they have never done. However if one of you has done it, then you remove a piece of clothing." Kaitlyn smirks and I already hate this game. I roll my eyes in annoyance and wait for the embarrassment to begin.
"I will go first." Kaitlyn sneers. "Never have I ever...had a threesome." My eyes widen. Really? That is the first statement of this game. Everyone stays still until Dex removes his shirt and he shrugs his shoulders.
"Junior year, drunk at a senior party." He states blatantly. "Okay, never have I ever kissed a guy."
"That's not cool." Nina yelps.
"Rules are rules." Kaitlyn mocks, removing her shirt and exposing her yellow bra.
Nina removes her shirt, her white bra now exposed and I end up removing my sock. Thankfully I kept them on before this ridiculous game. Caleb adjusts himself in his spot on the plush carpeted floor. Uncomfortable that his friends can see Nina's chest no doubt.
"Fine." Nina continues, crossing her arms over her chest. "Never have I ever drank alcohol." Nina winks when she looks over to me and everyone rooms another piece of clothing, excluding Dean, Nina, and myself.
Kaitlyn smirks, knowing that Nina did that knowing full well that she was at the bar today drinking with her fake ID. She stands up from the floor and starts to unbutton and unzip her pants, grabbing them the belt loop and rolling them down slowly, exposing her yellow matching thong. Nina and I grimace at the strip tease that is going on and glance at Dean who just does a quick once-over at the almost naked girl in front of us before looking away, not interested. Atta boy.
Dex and Caleb both examine Kaitlyn's body before she sits back down.
"Never have I ever slept in the nude." Caleb says and everyone looks baffled. Even I have done that.
Everyone removes another piece of clothing except Kaitlyn and Dean arches his brown at me with a slight grin. "What? It feels incredible. I am human you know."
He chuckles at this and then clears his throat. "Never have I ever..."
"Not had sex" Kaitlyn interrupts. She scowls at me and I sit frozen realizing I am going to have to remove either my pants or my shirt now. I don't have a cute matching set of undergarments on like her nor am I as confident. I gulp, my fingers playing with the hem of my shirt. I roll it up quickly over my head and cross my arms over my chest, exposing myself more than I ever have in public.
Dean takes a gander over my chest and clears his throat again. "Right, well umm..."he grabs my hand and shirt, pulling me up with him. "Scar and I are going to bed. Night everyone." He hastily urges me up the stairs to our room, escaping the nightmare of a game.
(Just because our Dean is downright sexy.)
