Epilogue Part II

The game related story parts will be quickly skimmed through in this part. Sorry if you wanted to read the whole thing, but after doing a lot of this for my previous FFXV story, I was not in the mood to write all that stuff out again (so sorry for my laziness).

Ignis slowly awoke from his slumber. He could still feel Angelica's warmth against him. She was lying partially on him, her head resting against his bare chest. He could tell by her stillness and even breaths that she was still asleep. With one arm wrapped around her frame, he slid his fingers lightly down her side and hip, feeling her soft skin. He smiled to himself and pulled the sheets up, better covering her body so she wouldn't get cold.

He laid there quietly with her. Though he couldn't fall back to sleep, he didn't want to wake his lover either. So, he simply waited patiently, enjoying the quiet and the warmth of her body. But before long, Ignis's phone rang. The woman at his side stirred, being brought out of her dreams by the sudden noise. The man felt her shift, and reached out, picking up his phone from the table beside the bed.

"Hello?" he answered, unable to see who was calling him.

"Ignis." It was Prompto. "So, I was wondering if you guys would like to meet up for a joint operation."

Angelica lazily gazed up at her fiance, listening to his conversation. "What's this all about?" he asked.

"Just wanted to get the gang back together for a bit, y'know? We don't hang out all that often anymore. So I figured, why not hunt down some daemons and catch up, for old time's sake?"

Ignis smiled. "Alright, sounds reasonable enough."

"Nice! Gladio's already on his way too. We're meeting up in Hammerhead."

"We'll be there shortly, then."

As soon as he hung up, Angelica tiredly muttered, "Prompto?"

Ignis nodded. "Yes. Seems we're all going to meet in Hammerhead to catch up. We'd best clean up and get going."

Angelica groaned and hugged the man. "But I'm too tired. Can't we sleep in a bit longer?"

Ignis chuckled, running his fingers through her crimson hair. "Now, now, we mustn't neglect our duty to our friends."

The woman leaned up, kissing his lips. "Alright, love, you have a point."

She forced herself up out of bed. Ignis was swift to follow, gathering their clothes from the bedside table where he neatly placed them the previous night. The two headed for the bathroom together, getting bathed and fixed up before leaving. They took a vehicle to travel the distance to Hammerhead. With Angelica behind the wheel, they made it rather quickly.

But once there, they got shocking news from Gladio. Apparently, Talcott had just called him, and said that Noctis was back. The group decided to wait there for the king's arrival. When Talcott's truck pulled in, Noctis and Umbra both stepped out. The five friends caught up before deciding to head to Insomnia to finally end it all.

While at their final camp together, Angelica informed Noctis on her and Ignis's engagement, to which he joyfully congratulated them. Despite knowing what they would have to face in the city, the friends enjoyed spending time around a campfire, just as they had done so often ten years ago.

Before long, the group was within Insomnia's walls once more. They faced daemons and monsters of all kinds on their way to the Citadel, even battling Ifrit, the Infernian. But with the aid of Bahamut and Shiva, the Pyreburner was taken down. Inside the Citadel, it was a few swift elevator rides to the throne room. There, Ardyn awaited them.

With his allies rendered unconscious, Noctis had to fight alone in a battle of Kings. But in the end, he defeated Ardyn. The group only had a moment's farewell before the king had to take his place upon the throne, and give his life for the darkness to be purged. His friends were outside, fighting off the daemons so that the king could fulfill his calling. Their battle was interrupted by a blinding light erupting from the throne room.

In an instant, the daemons all turned to dust. At that moment, they all knew what Noctis had done. And not long after, the sun steadily rose from the horizon, finally dispelling the perpetual darkness. The four stood in the sun's light, marvelling at its return. Even Ignis could sense the light before him, and feel it's warmth on his face. With a sad smile, Angelica clasped Ignis's hand in her own.

"He really did it," she said. "Who would've thought that little prince, the first real friend I had as a child, and the one I watched over like a brother, would save the entire world from darkness." Tears were welling up in her eyes. "I'm sure gonna miss him."

"For sure," Prompto agreed.

"We all will," Gladio added.

Ignis forced a slight smile. "But he will still live on in the hearts and minds of those who cared for him."

The group gazed out at the beautiful sunrise for the first time in ten years. Their king had given his life for them, and for the very world. Thanks to him, the future was looking brighter than ever.

This is not the final part, there will be one more chapter! And again, sorry for my laziness on this part.
