Day 6

Ship: McPriceley (The Book Of Mormon)
Taking Control

"Now, remember, this is only the Ugandans' second time celebrating Halloween so try and be nice if they give you frogs again this year!" Connor called out from where he stood on the Not-Coffee Coffee table in the common room, clicking at a pen that hovered above a clipboard, "Next, Elder Church and Elder Poptarts, you'll take the West quarter of the town, and-"

"Isn't this a bit uniformed?" Elder Church called out.

Connor frowned as he looked up, "It's fun?"

"Not for us..." Elder Poptarts murmured.

"Of course it is!" Connor scoffed.

"It's just that-"

"I'm your district leader! I need to make sure that all of you are accounted for and get evenly distributed blocks of candy and frogs!" Connor frowned.

"Left half of the room, go north, right side, go south, done." Elder Church shrugged before the others murmured an agreement and headed out slowly.

"No, no, no! We have to follow the rules! You- you have a curfew of Ten PM!" Connor yelled helplessly before crumpling down and flopping onto the couch into a slouching sitting position, "They never listen..."

"Maybe because you're treating them like children?"

Connor flinched with a yelp and looked around wildly before spotting Kevin and groan-sighing, "Lord and savior, you startled me!"

"Sorry, just pointing things out." Kevin smirked.

"Well, it's not exactly helpful." Connor frowned.

"That could be very true, Elder." Kevin nodded.

Connor stiffened up awkwardly on the couch.

Kevin noticed with a frown and flopped down beside Connor, "What?"

"What?" Connor shifted uncomfortably, "Shouldn't you be out with the other elders?"

"I don't like Trick-Or-Treating, seems too childish- I could be doing more productive things." Kevin shrugged.

"I suppose- but you should take it to your advantage of actually being able to..." Connor mumbled.

"Oh my lord, Connor, you want to go, don't you?" Kevin smiled in amusement over at Connor.

Connor flushed up, "I d-do not! Like you said! It's- it's childish!"

"It's okay to want to go, elder." Connor shrugged.

Connor shifted uncomfortably once again before clearing his throat, "I'm not allowed to leave if not everyone is accounted for..."

Kevin thought about this, "So...because I'm here?"

"In a way, yes, but also because I have to be here when the others get back." Connor stated.

Kevin nodded slowly before scooting over next to Connor, "How long will that be until they come back?"

Connor gripped the edge of the couch, "N-not sure."

"Hm," Kevin shrugged.

"Hm? Is that all?" Connor cleared his throat.

"Yes, elder?" Kevin nodded.

"Enough!" Connor snapped, shooting up with his hands waving as he turned to face the startled Kevin who looked at him with wide eyes.

"Wh-what?" Kevin swallowed nervously.

"It's Connor, just Connor- not elder- not Elder McKinley- just call me Connor." He huffed.

"You- told us not to address you by your first name though." Kevin chewed on his cheek awkwardly.

"It just- feels like- really weird when you call me elder-" Connor held his right arm, gaze downcast.

"I don't understand why though."

"Because! It makes me sound like I'm somehow better- or, or something!" Connor scoffed.

"But you are." Kevin said this like it was a fact.

Connor's face turned a brilliant red, "I-I just- um- just don't be so formal."

"I can do that." Kevin chuckled, "I don't exactly enjoy talking to you like you're some receptionist."

"That only makes partial sense..."

"Yeah." Kevin nodded before getting up and standing in front of Connor who looked up at him.

"Wanna' watch the Nightmare Before Christmas then?" Kevin smiled down at the shorter boy.

"I'd love that." Connor grinned.

"Good." Kevin grabbed Connor's hand and intertwined their fingers as he walked away with the flustered district leader.

"Of course it's a Disney movie."
