The air was thick and chilled from the freshly fallen snow that lade before a dark figure. It stood on the edge of forest staring out onto the open field. It's crimson eyes held bright golden pupils that scanned everything that wasn't hidden by the white haze. Light blue streaks ran down his cheeks almost like tears. The figure ventured further down the slope letting the silver light of the mood illuminate him revealing a rather large wolf.

His black fur rippled as he stepped forward, tail flicking in frustration. He let out a low growl and stalked back into the safety of the woods. His tail lashed from side to side. A small squeal alerted his senses. Hunger raked his insides like a claw on flesh. Quickly he stalked forward. Padding lightly he followed the sound. He stopped and sniffed the air catching the faint sent of rabbit.

He moved forward once again getting a glimpse of the brown creature a few feet away as it dugout frostbitten blades of grass and hay. The wolf readied his hind legs for the leap. He took in a sharp breath and pushed off. Before the hare could react the wolfs fangs inclosed around its neck. With on good jerk the hare hung limply in his jaws. He set the kill down to see its skinny body. It's ribs showing through its thin skin.

No wonder it hadn't noticed him. It was to busy starving. Hell everyone was starving. The frost came earlier this year than it should have forcing the smaller creatures under ground or pushed them south, leaving the hunters fighting for food. He picked up the peace of prey and stalked back down the snowy path to the camp. Blood from the kill drizzled into his mouth and coaxed him to feast, but he knew better.

One of the rules in the pack is, the helpless come first. The ones that are sick, old or nursing young must be cared for before any other. He lived by that rule, others in camp though, have other thoughts. He pushed that thought away as he arrived at the camp. A large thorny barrier lined the camp, there vine like branches weaved around nearby trees. The wolf squeezed through a hallow oak that had fallen many sessions ago. He slid out and gazed around the clearing.

A single tree stood on the far side of the entrance of camp, its roots were lifted and showed a hallow underneath. That's the Alfa den. On the right a large bush. It's branches woven low to the ground in a dome made the to-be's den, pups that are old enough to live without there mothers but not old enough to fight or hunt properly without guidance. Beside that was the hunters den made of a bunch of brambles. On the left is the nursery, a large bush like the to-be's and the elders nest made from a old log. Between them were a twist of vines that made the healers den. The healer helps injured or the sick. The wolf sighed and walked to the nursery. He slid under the small opening and into the den. Inside the ground was dugout and lade with dried furs of deer, rabbit, and even goat.

The air was warm and hung with a sweet sent. Two wolves lade in separate nest, each had a single pup snuggled close to there chest. One stirred and looked over at the wolf at the entrance. His eyes were a light blue, his furred ears and tail were a fine black that was smooth and glossy, but still it was visible how starved he was. "E-error? Is that you." The wolf yawned. Error nodded and set down the prey. "It's me Berry. I caught something for the and Geno to share. I know it's not much but its better than eating rats." He chuckled. Berry smiled and sat up. The small pup let out a small yelp of protest feeling the warmth disappear from him. "Oh Muffin it's ok!" Berry mumbled pawing the small pup to comfort him. Error felt a pinch of sadness.

He had longed to be Berrys mate, to father his children, but instead it was fresh. Fresh was a loner that wandered around the woods out side the boundaries. He had tempted Berry away during the heat season and practically raped him. When Berry had Muffin, Fresh rejected them and refused to take on the responsibility of being a parent. Error tried to take freshs place but Berry refuses to take on another mate in fear they might leave him to, and Error respects that knowing he can't force love.

Error reached out a paw and shook Geno. The wolf had pure white fur along with soft blue eyes. A wound on his right eye that was covered in bloody badges gave him a edgy look. But Error knew he was a sweet heart... most of the time, sometimes he's a bit snappy, but his bark had always been worse than his bite.

Geno blinked his good eye open and let out a loud yawn and stretched. "Ugh..... what do you want? I was in the middle of the best dream! I was in the forest hunting and not stuck in this den all day!" He snapped shifting and sitting up. A whimper sounded from Genos nest. The pup, larger than Muffin, sat up in confusion over why he was woken up.

Genos pup, Goth, is the son of the pack leader, Reaper. Reaper had taken Geno in after a fire cornered and whipped out his entire pack. After he did he took a liking to the white wolf and somehow won over his heart. Error let out a mental sigh wishing he could find love.

Geno bent down and nipped his ears lovingly. "Go back to sleep you little runt." He mumbled the turned to Error. "So why are you still here? Why are you always here!? It's as if your expecting pups your self." He grunted, a hint of amusement shone in his eyes. Berry looked over at him sternly. "Geno be nice! He went out and caught a rabbit just for us!" He smiled. Geno took one look at the prey and huffed. "I've seen better, even in the coldest seasons." He growled. Error was about to snap at him but Geno bent down and stared chewing on the prey anyway. Berry joined not wanting to be left out.

Error turned to leave not seeing his use there anymore but a voice caught him on his way out. "Do you want a bite?" He turned to see Geno pushing the rabbit towards him. He shook his head. "I ate a day or two ago, I'm fine." He muttered. "No your not eat! We insist!" Berry chimed in. Error looked at the prey hesitantly but his hunger drove him forward. He bent down and shared the meal with the young parents.

Ink laid out with his stomach to the sky on a large bolder, letting the morning suns warmth sooth him through the bitter cold. He lazily gazed down the cliffside and down the gorge. The river that had carved out the small canyon, had frozen over. Caves littered the canyon walls. A calmness settled in the silence. Everyone was still asleep.

Ink could easily escape, but he just layed there quietly on the large rock. The bolder had fallen of the cliffside a long ago and split at the bottom. Nightmare, the leader of the pack, dug it out and made a nest. Ink was currently confined to the den. Why, exactly was a loner like him in a pack? Well he was simply minding his business when he was confronted by one of the pack wolves, horror. Horror attack ink for being on there land. He would have killed ink if nightmare hadn't showed up and snapped at him to stop.

Ink guessed he liked how he looked or talked because nightmare decided then and there ink was his. Ink in return darted away, only to run straight into killer and dust. Now he's a prisoner forced to sleep besides the black tentacle tailed ass. Ink was a free spirit, he never liked being in a group.

"INK!!!" Nightmares angered voice shook the rock. Ink let out a sigh and rolled to look down at the larger wolf that scanned the gorge almost desperately. He called again walking out a bit further. Ink smiled lightly realizing he cared....ish.

"I'm up here!" He called down. Nightmare whipped around relief in his eyes that instantly turned to rage. "What do you think your doing? Get down from there." He hissed. Ink rolled his eyes not wanting to stop his sun bath because of a grumpy walking ball of slime. "No! I'm not going to be forced to stay in that den. It's giving me Claustrophobia!" He snapped back bravely.

Not to lie, when ink first arrived in the gorge he was scared shitless by nightmare and the others, but now that he settled he's not taking any shit from him. "You know what? Fine. Stay up there all you want, as long as you don't run away." He said mellowly. Ink stared in shock, he was actually going to let me stay up here?

Nightmare called out to the other wolves and they gathered around. He set up hunting party's and border checks. The wolves would sometimes look up and stare at him with confusion or hate. Soon the sun was at its highest. Everyone was off doing there own thing while ink was still laying on the rock, dosing.

His eyes suddenly snapped open hearing claws scrambling up to join him. He sat up in alarm as a smaller wolf with golden fur steading himself with the hight. Ink notice a small sparrow clutched in his jaw. The smaller wolf set the dead bird down and stared up at ink panting.

"H-hi! I'm Dream. I...um... brought you this." He nudged the prey towards him. Ink smiled and gladly scarfed down the meal. When he was done a silence fell. "Well.... my names ink by the way." He smiled at Dream. Dream nodded and smiled back. "It feels good to be out of that den you know? Cross has been so protective and noisy ever since I found out we're having pups." Dream said mostly to himself. A shimmering of happiness and annoyance in his eyes.

Ink stared at him in shock, he couldn't tell he was carrying with how skinny the smaller wolf was. Ink faked a smiled "Well congrats!" Dream smiled back. "Yeah, thanks. I'm only a week along but he acts like im going to have it any minute!" Dream huffed. Ink chuckled slightly. They talked for a good hour before-

"OH MY WORD! DREAM GET DOWN FROM THERE!!!"

A white wolf stood at the bottom of the stone, his long crimson tail fluffing up in fear. Cross he presumed. "I'm fine!" Dream sighed beside him. Cross was not convinced. "No you are not! Get down NOW!" He barked. Dream probably didn't want to make a commotion because he scrambled down and let his mate nose him to the nursery. He looked up at ink and gave a small smile before sliding into the entrance.

Ink sighed and closed his eyes. At least I have a friend to talk to now. He snorted at his use of words. Friend.

I don't need friends.
---
Error stretched as he exited the den. A new day. A new start. His mind mumbled as he stalked across the clearing. Reaper stood in front of the others making some kinda speech. Shit. Error cursed him self for sleeping in. The other wolves had started to separate by the time Error padded up.

"E. Just the wolf I wanted to see!" Reaper smiled. "I need you to stay and guard the camp."

Error stood silent for a moment.

"Why?" He asked bluntly. Reaper sighed. Error realized the explanation was probably in the speech he missed. "Our food supply is growing thin. I need every one out and hunting. But that leaves the camp unprotected." Error tried to argue but reaper cut him off. "I know your a good hunter but your the best fighter. The Darkwood's are looking for any opportunity to attack so I need you to stay and care for the camp understood?"

Error nodded. It was true, he was the best fighter in the pack. He remembered when he was a loner long ago and wandered on to the Willows land. Reaper confronted him, only to be left with a long scar across his muzzle. After that, day after day, reaper asked him to join the pack. Error agreed after a hole Moon to shut him up, only to become one of the most loyal members. The wound Error gave reaper faded over time, but if you get close enough you could see the faint scar. Now there close friends.

Error watched as Reaper slid through the tunnel. Rustling sounded from behind him. Error turned to see Geno walk out of his nest and let out a long yawn. Goth trotted out behind him and glanced around at the barren camp. Error noticed how big he was getting, almost old enough to be a to-be. Error smiled hoping he would be able to train him of muffin.

Speaking of muffin. His mind chuckled. Blue had come out of the nursery as well. Muffin hurried behind him, his eyes wide. Error realized this is probably the first time to be truly out of the den, more than just a little peek.

"Now muffin. I know it's exciting to be out and about but you mustn't wander to far, ok?" Blue spoke softly to the young pup, which nodded in response. Error watched in glee as the little pup scurried around, eyes filled with wonder.

Ow!!!

Suddenly, a needle sharp pain rippled up his spine. He turned to see Goth standing on his hind paws and sinking his tiny teeth in to his flank. Error gave him a stern look. Goth pulled back shamefully. "Now why would you bite me? That hurt you know!" Error barked. "It's just... Father said you used to be a rogue, so I was just protecting the camp." He muttered, looking as though he was about to cry. Suddenly guilt hit him like a train. Wow I'm an ass. He only a pup!

"I was and..." Error was about to comment on how goths dad was a loner too, then had a sudden idea to try and brighten the pups mood. In other words he saw the death glare Geno was giving him. He mustered up the most pathetic whimper. "And you! A noble warrior have vanquished me." Then flopped over on his side letting his tongue hang out.

Goth squeaked in dismay. "Nuuuu! Error get up! I didn't mean to kill you!"

Error felt tiny paws push his belly up and down. It was hard for him not to laugh. A tiny squeak sounded from his other side. Muffin came tumbling forward before head-butting errors back. Error quickly sat up yelping.

"Ow hey! Don't do that." He playfully snapped at the overexcited muffin then snapped to goth. "And you." He growled before giving him a small lick on the nose. "I'm not dead. It will take a lot more than just one bite to kill me." He whispered to goth gently.

Goth smiled up at him, then suddenly pounced on his back making him fall back down. Goth stood on top of him while muffin nipped his back.

"H-hey! No don't, stop, No, That tickles you little brats!" Error lade there chuckling.

Blue and Geno watched from a distance giggling slightly as the madness unfolded.

"Pleeeeeeeaaaaaasssssse!!!" Ink whined pressing himself into nightmares shoulder. They both laid side by side. Dawn had struck the valley, and ink wanted to hunt. To go out and be free in the forest for a bit. But no! Nightmare refused.

Ink was so board though! He had nothing to do and no one to talk to. Dream used to come to talk all the time, but he's close to his do date and needs to stay in the den. Cross won't let ink visit him.

"Ink... you know I don't want you to leave camp! What if you wander over the border and one of the Willows might kill you! I wouldn't know what to do if you were gone." Nightmare nuzzled him.

Ink and nightmare had gotten closer over the last moon or so. Ink wasn't desperately in love with him, but he did start having a small flutter in his heart every time he saw the asshole. He wouldn't admit it, but it was there.

"Nightmare! I wont cross the border, I'll be careful. Please, I'm dying in this camp." Ink groaned. Nightmare gave him a stern look.

"....ok....." nightmare muttered. "But you better come back! You know where the camp is!" He grunted before leaning over and gently licked inks cheek. Ink smirked in his victory but still laid there, waiting for the sun to rise a bit more.

After the sun was up Nightmare slid out of the den and into the clearing calling for a meeting. Now would be a good time. Ink hummed.

He got up and waved his tail to nightmare.

"I'm off!" He smiled and walked to the entrance. Horror and Dust gave nightmares a worried look. He told them not to stop ink.

Quickly ink trotted down the river, not wanting nightmare to suddenly change his mind. He hummed lightly taking in the scenery. Dry, frost, leafless bushes hanging off the cliff walls along large cracks that run down.

He huffed a bit seeing the gorge narrow till there was at least two, three tail length between the wall and river.

He looked up and marveled at a fallen tree that lay across the gorge like a bridge. Water rippled over his paw; he had wandered in to the spring. Ink veered to the wall again then looked ahead to see tall stalks of green.

Grass.

His heart fluttered with joy. He bounded forward letting his body collapse in the green. Nose burning with the sent of nature and not just clay and rocks.

The foliage underneath him was damp from the crystalized water clinging and melting. He rolled over and faced the warm glow.

He felt free.
-
Ink woke up to the sound of wailing. He turned to see nightmare staring down at him in confusion. It had awoken him as well.

Paws thumped to there den entrance. Dust stood there looking rather frantic.

"N-nightmare! Dream, the pup, something's gone wrong!" Just as he gasped that out the wailing turned into a loud shriek.

Before ink could blink nightmare was gone. With shaky legs he quickly followed behind. The cool air of night flooded his senses as he left the den and rushed to the nursery after his lover.

Everyone was gathered around the nursery.

White and red flashed in front of him, making him stop in his tracks.

It was cross.

He paced around the clearing. Eyes fixed on the den.

Ink tried to go in but was shoved out by G. All he could do was wait.
~
It was almost sunrise by the time the howls finally stopped.

Ink turned to see nightmare sliding out of the nursery with a morbid look. In silence nightmare padded back to there den. G slid out next and addressed the crowd, but mostly to cross.

"The pup is fine.... but.... Dream is dead."

Cross let out a scream of sorrow and disbelief. Ink could only watch as he dashed passed g and into the den.

Another howl echoed through the camp.

Ink looked up to see nightmare sitting on top of there den, the spot he usually sunbathes in. Nightmare lifted his head and howled once again in mourning. Ink suddenly remembered. Dream was his brother. He howled along with him, the rest of the pack joined in.

Ink turned to the nursery and finally was let through.

He slipped in to see Cross hunched over Dreams limp body. A small gold pup with a nubby red tail wiggled between his paws.

G pushed in as well. He dropped a bundle of leaves beside cross.

"Cross, you need to chew these up and feed them to the pup. They'll substitute the milk he needs, but it might stunt his growth slightly." G murmured.

Cross simply nodded. He bent down and began to chew the leaves into a fine pulp.

Ink turned out of the nursery, not wanting to see anymore.

He trotted to nightmares den. Thoughts buzzed in his mind. What if that happens to him? What if he left nightmare alone to raze there pup.

His eyes widened. Did he really just consider having nightmares pup?

He let his mind settle on that to distract from the grim mood of the camp.

And now it's my turn!
