Where am I?

I looked around suspiciously and found myself sitting in a sea of other older teens seated and all facing a stage. My observation got me a looked from a shorter girl that looked my age. I slowly looked from her to the stage.

"Are you new?"

I turned to the girl next to me. "You can say that."

She smiled timidly. "I'm new too. I'm Holly."

I tilted my head and smiled. "I'm Kassina." Something about the girl stood out. She was beautifully pale with dark brown hair added with dark blue, almost black, streaks. Her eyes were a beautiful shade of hazel. "Where are we?"

"Auditorium," she pointed to the stage. "For orientation, it's about to start."

I nodded. "Yeah. I guess so." I turned to the stage and watched a long haired woman with brown hair approach a bold podium.

"Hey Kassina," Holly whispered quickly, "I have to ask, what are you?"

"What do you mean?"

She rolled her eyes and lowered her voice. "You know, witch, seer, shifter, wolf, vamp, succubus, phantom...what? I have to ask. I'm a..." she hesitated, "I'm a wolf. I'm asking because my talent is the conduction of energy. I can't use it well, but I can see it clearly. Ya know...and...well...I just see a massive wavelength of energy and power coming from you. I've only seen one other person here with such excelled power and that was that one...jerk Alpha."

"I'm a-."

"-of this world and the next! I am the headmistress Avanii Margot! I started this school for the creatures disgraced by humani knowledge and understanding."

Some people around started to grunt and curse at the word humani.

"Stop everyone," Ava, or Avanii, cooed. "The humani are not evil. In fact, this year I am authorizing the studies of the humani courses, such as math, literature, and sciences along with our own usual studies." At the last part the crowd groaned.

"Humans?" Holly smirked. "I heard Avanii did this a couple decades ago. Humans...here...wow."

Ava smiled. "Tomorrow the semester of the new school year starts. Classes will be given next week when all students are properly enrolled. When all students are enrolled I ask for only the best behavior. This year, bullying of any kind, especially to the humani, is as far as punishable as to being sentenced to the Chamber."

"Chamber!" Holly and hundreds of others gasped. Holly turned to me. "I've only heard of the Chamber. It's this iron or steel room that they lock you in, sealing off all your powers and preventing you from even moving."

"Is it deadly?" I asked softly.

Holly looked even more afraid. "No one's died of it, but that's not to say there can't be a freak accident!" She covered her mouth. "Just for poking a human?"

"Students please!" Ava called above all the chatter. "I have not integrated more than ten regular humani. Throughout the first weeks, I will have moved them to a different time and class schedual than you. There will be limited contact and hidden identities. These new students cannot stay any longer than two months beyond the Key anyway. Do not fret. This experience will tell if my school is strong enough to educate humani and what they call the S.N, supernatural. After next week, as usual, the doors leading into town will be open."

Ava turned to look at a bald man standing a couple of feet from her. She nodded and switched places with the man.

The bald man cleared his throat. "I am Gren, the Administrator of Discipline. As the Headmistress said before, the Chamber is back on the table for punishment. I just wanted everyone to remember any bad interactions with each other or the staff is punishable. Vampires! We understand needs. We can supply packs and orbs to those. Wolves, don't damage our school. Toward the far west of the school you will find a massive forest filled with animals, large and small. We have been fully prepared for all. All that we ask is that there be no excessive trouble.

"Kassina."

I looked at Holly whose eyes were glued to bald guy. I looked around for the person who called my name.

"Anyways, you all are dismissed. If you have any questions, come to me afterwards about your issue."

I looked at Holly who looked at me and everything faded to black.
