🌔 Ep.2: Into The Bunker 🌔

GASP. Three in one week
Yeah
Yeah we doing this❤️

~~~~~~~~~Dipper's POV~~~~~~~~~
(y/n) and I were in the living room, sitting on the couch and having a chill day. On the tv was one of Gravity Falls' classic non-horror horror movies, which we're enjoyable if you considered them comedy.
"What do we do, Chadley?!" the female lead asked, "I thought they were dead!"
The male lead answered, "Far worse, Trixandra! They're... Nearly Almost Dead But Not Quite!!"
I threw some popcorn into my mouth, "Man, these movies are a lot less scary when you've actually fought real zombies."
"Guess we have you to thank for that, huh?" I chuckled awkwardly at his comment before he yelled at the tv, "They're slow, just power walk away from them!!"
"How much you wanna bet that guy dies first?"
At that moment, we saw the male lead get eaten by zombies, yelling in a very monotoned voice, "Ah, my face is being eaten a lot!"
The two of us burst into laughter, with (y/n) commenting, "Chadley ain't pretty no more!"
"Yeah," I added with another laugh before glancing down, biting my lip. Recently, I had been thinking about trying to confess my feelings to him once again, it had been a long while since his breakup, so it should be okay, right? I mig Nr as well, try.. "So uh.. have you spoken to Lorelei lately..?"
"Hm? Oh yeah!" He grabbed a handful of popcorn, "She recently went on a trip with her family, living her best life and all."
"Oh, cool! Cool."
He raised an eyebrow, confused by my question, "Why do you ask?"
"N-no reason, I just wanted to know how you- sh-she was doing and.. stuff.."
I refused to look up at him, embarrassed at how stupid this was going, and I could feel him still looking down at me. However, when he glanced away, I could see the smile on his face, "Well, I still don't have any feelings for her, if that's what you're asking.. I'm still very much single.."
"Oh! That's- that's good to know!" I cleared my throat, gripping the end of my pants, "Well- uh- anyway- I-I was wondering if maybe you.. wanted to... I-I mean, if you and me would ever... I mean, if maybe you..."
Wait.. if he says no, would we still be friends..? Would he hate me..? Would he find it gross if I like boys, like him..? I can't just..
... I can't...
"... Wanted to join me and Mabel on this mystery hunt tomorrow..? Conspiracy stuff and all that, that's all.."
"Oh..!" He seemed a little surprised by the question, backing away as he rubbed the back of his neck, "I-I mean, yeah, don't I usually..?"
"Just wanted to make sure, with your wound and all.."
"Right, right.." he fiddled with the end of his sleeve, "Is there anything else you wanted to ask..?"
"Nope, that's- that's it.."
"Right.. cool."
We spent about half an hour more finishing the movie, but neither of us talked after that, not until (y/n) left to get some rest.
Maybe it's best if I don't ever tell him.. I can't risk losing him...
[There should be a GIF or video here. Update the app now to see it.]
The next day, we all met up near a certain set of trees in the forest. One of the pages in the journal, with updated information thanks to the black light, revealed a secret staircase going down one of the trees, leading into a bunker underground. It was our mission to investigate it.
I lightly hit my lantern, getting everyone's attention, "Thank you all for coming."
"Hey, when there's a mystery, you can count on your sister-y!"
Soos laughed at Mabel's comment, "That's amazing rhyme! When you want to good, when- when you need a Soos you- oh, gosh, I don't know.."
"We're here to solve the number one mystery in Gravity Falls," I pulled out my journal, "Who wrote this journal? Thirty years ago, the author vanished without a trace. But according to this new clue, we may have found his secret hiding place! We find that author, we learn the answers to everything. We just need to figure out a way to get down there."
"Considering it's got stairs," (y/n)'s voice was heard as he walked through the trees, joining the group, "I'm sure there's some mechanism we can find."
Mabel smiled, waving over, "About time! What took you so long?!"
He chuckled a bit, "Sorry, Stan called me for some last minute restocking, and who am I to say no to the guy that has my paycheck."
"Well, uh-" I stumbled on my words as I tried to reply, "I'm glad you didn't decide to ditch us," and laughed, though it sounded painfully awkward.
His own laugh was also awkward, "Yeah, wouldn't miss it." He forced on a smile, then walked over to Soos, leaving me rubbing my arm in shame.
Mabel then walked over to me, an eyebrow raised, "What was that about?"
"Nothing!" I spat out, "Things have just been a little weird since yesterday I uh.."
She gasped loudly, "Did you confess to him?!"
"What?! No!! Well- not really, I- I tried to, but I figured it would just ruin everything, so I changed the subject."
With a loud groan, she stretched her face down, "Dipper, don't you see?! He's upset because you didn't say anything!"
"What if you're wrong?! What if he's upset cuz he could tell what I wanted to ask and it made him uncomfortable?!"
"We won't know unless you do ask!!"
"No- Mabel, enough," I sighed heavily, "I've thought this through and I'm over (y/n). I've looked at it from every angle and that thing was going nowhere. I know what matters to me now and it's finding the author of this journal."
"You're over (y/n)? Allow me to out on my skepticals! Oop!!" She placed her fingers around her eyes in a circular shape.
I simply rolled my eyes, "I've moved on, Mabel, you should too."
Before she could reply to anything else, I walked over to Soos and (y/n), noticing how he kept staring up at one of the high branches, "Hey, is it just me or does that branch kinda look like a lever?"
"Huh, yeah," I looked down in thought, "But how but how do we get up there..?"
"Done!" (y/n) yelled, his voice far off now. When I looked up, I saw he had already climbed his way to the branch and pulled it down, my face heating up at the sight.
No, Dipper, snap out of it!
Just then, the ground around us began to shake, forcing a scream out of all of us. (y/n) managed to jump off on time before the tree started to sink, and we backed away as a set of circular stairs led down.
A groan brought me back, and I looked back to see (y/n) struggled to get back on his feet as he tightly gripped his side. I rushed over, helping him up, a nervous shiver going down my spine, "That still not healing..?"
He shook his head, "It's taken longer than usual.." After a few seconds, he looked down at me before looking away, as well as stepping away, "So, uh, what'd we find?"
"Stairs!!" Mabel yelled from peeking into the pit that had formed.
I let out a sigh as I watched him walk over to the group, following behind, "Alright, guys, this is it! Remember: whatever  happens down there, we tell no one."
Mabel gave a thumbs up, expression serious. Soos turned his cap around, giving a nod. (y/n) gave me a nod, though he still gripped the area of the jacket that covered his wound.
I knew he would refuse if I asked him to sit this one out to heal, so I simply kept it deep in my head, "Now who wants to go first?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Heading down the stairs didn't take us long, and the deeper we went, the more mechanical our surroundings became; machines and gears were heard from all directions, as well as the occasion buzz as electricity zapped through, and our footsteps were loud as we met the hard but hollow flooring.

We all had to stop and stare in awe as we reached what I assumed to be the main room. I looked around, analyzing in my head before commenting to myself, "It's like a fallout shelter..! Must've belonged to the author..!"

Mabel walked off on her own, burying her head into a barrel before pulling it back out, laughing as caterpillars covered her face, "My face feels fuzzy!"

I ignored her for the time being, making my way over to a walk covered with drawers, each marked with a year, going as far as 2090, "It's like he was preparing for a disaster."

(y/n) now stood at my side, "Yeah, but what kind of disaster would need supplies for over sixty years?"

"Oh my gosh..!!" Soos stood scared as he opened a cabinet full of weapons, only to take out a puppy-themed case of candy, "A smez dispenser!! I remember these things! What's that? Yes, I will have some of your old-timey face food!" He ate a piece, cringing at the taste, "Ew, dusty.." but ate another.

"Hey, guys..?" We all walked over to (y/n) as he called, with him pointing at an opened can of food. What freaked us out was that the elements inside, or at least the remains, were still fresh, recent, "I think someone's down her with us.."

"The author might still be alive!" Soos yelled, gesturing around, "Down here!"

"It's possible. And how much you wanna bet.." (y/n) walked over to a map of the town, moving it to the side and revealing a passageway, "Aha!"

"Nice work!" I said as I walked over, "How'd you know?"

"It's actually quite cliché," he replied, crawling first into the passage way as the rest of us followed behind.

Not long after, we reached a different room, this one feeling much more claustrophobic than the last. The design was cubes, perfect cubes all around, some with strange symbols carved into them, though we weren't sure what they meant.

(y/n) looked around in awe, "Talk about bizarre sci-fi!"

"This room is way creepy!" Soos exclaimed as he shrunk in place.

"Not as creepy as Dipper's internet history! Heyo!!"

Before I could argue with her, she pushed me forward, and my foot landed on one of the symbols, sinking it into the ground. The others around the room began to light up, and before we knew it, they all began to extent forward, trying to crush us!

Mabel screamed, "Wall things!! Crazy wall things happening right now!!"

(y/n) tried to push one of the blocks back, but as strong as he was, he instead ended up getting pushed back with it, "They're not stopping?!"

"Dipper, what do we do?!"

"C'mon, c'mon, c'mon..!!" I stumbled on my words in a panic, trying to look for the right page and use my smaller black light to shine it on the page, "Find these four symbols!! Quick, everybody step on one!!"

Soos was the first, punch the symbol to his left, "One!!"

(y/n) rapidly looked around, climbing a few of the extended pillars to push one of the far right corner, "Two!!"

"Three!!" Mabel yelled as she swung across the room, pressing another.

One left, I thought as I panicked more and more, seeing the last symbol peeking down at me from the ceiling. I ran without thinking, climbing the pillars in my way, and only just managing to push the symbol back with my finger before it disappeared under another, "Four!!"

A door opened up, and with no hesitation, we all made a run for it, with my best getting stuck in between pillars. I ignored it, desperately to keep my life over a vest before falling forward, catching my breath. We all stayed on the ground for a few seconds, trying to comprehend what just happened, waiting for the adrenaline to die down.

(y/n) was the first to be back on his feet, walking past me before to me, holding my semi-ripped vest, "Here.. It kinda broke in the chase, but it should still be good.."

"Oh..!" I stood up, grabbing it, "Thanks, you uh.. didn't have to do that.."

"No worries.." There were a few seconds of silence between us, and then he lightly hit my shoulder with an awkward smile, "That's what friends do, right..?"

"Y-yeah, I-" I cleared my throat, shuffling my foot around, "Yep..!"

He nodded, his hands in his pockets and shoulders tense, walking back to Soos. Once he was far enough, a heavy sigh escaped my lips, but screamed when Mabel's face was right in front of my own, before quickly composing myself again, "What?"

"Me thinks you're both acting really weird today!"

"No we're not!" I put my vest back on, "We're just hanging out like we always do, you know, friends, buddies, pals, other word for friend."

"Overuse of the word friend?!" she gasped loudly, "I knew it!! You're not over (y/n) at all!! Are you still thinking about telling him?!"

"No, I changed my mind! It's a bad idea! I'd just embarrass myself and ruin our friendship!"

"Dipper, if he really cares about you as a friend, whether he likes you or not, he's not gonna stop your friendship because of some stupid feelings! Just tell him already!! One way or another, you're gonna feel better afterwards!"

"Look, Mabel, I can't tell him no matter how much I want to!! Just drop it, okay?!"

"Hey, dudes!!" Soos called over, "Check this out!!"

(y/n) now stood inside a metallic closet, laughing a bit as he made a rhythm with his knuckles against it, "You think a robot sleeps in here?"

"This never happened," was the last thing I said to Mabel with a glare before joining the other two, taking a deep breath.

For a minute, we joked around a bit, until Mabel came up behind me, her expression serious, "Brother, whatever happens, I just want you to know.. this is for your own good."

"What?"

I screamed when she suddenly pushed me back, closing the closet door. Before I could register what just happened, I felt hands grab my arm and carefully bring me back onto my feet, "You okay..?"

"Y-yeah, sorry, I just-" another, smaller scream as I noticed (y/n)'s face was only an inch away from my own, growing hot as I backed away before starting to punch the door as hard as I could, " Mabel, let us out!!"

"Oh, I'll let you out~! As soon as you tell (y/n) that thing you've wanting to tell him!!" Mabel yelled from the other side, "You'll thank me for this later!!"

"What is she talking about?" (y/n) asked, his posture shyer than before as he rubbed his arm.

I forced out a laugh, "Uh, Mabel's been eating raw sugar packets again!"

"That's besides the point!!" Mabel yelled back.

I groaned in anger, punching the door some more, "Let me out right now!!"

(y/n) looked around, or tried to. "Ugh, where are the lights?" he asked before finding a small string hanging in the middle of the room, pulling it down. Next thing I knew, we were both sprayed with water, then steam to dry us up, and another door behind us opened.

This time, we were in some sort of laboratory, but the walls all screamed untouched cave. Someone had moved things into this place.

"Whoa.." I looked around in awe, "A hidden lab..!"

"Maybe the author did experiments down here," (y/n) said, then we both noticed the strange tunnels that surrounded the cave, "What do you think dug all these tunnels..?"

"Let's hope we don't find out.."

That's when a loud shriek reverberated through the cave, or maybe more of a roar, and it kept getting closer and closer. The two of us quickly ran to the door, punching it as hard as we could, with (y/n) even managing to leave some dents as I screamed, "Mabel, open up!! For real!! There's a monster in here!!"

"Hah, nice try!!" Mabel yelled back, "The only monsters are your own inner demons, Dipper!!"

"That is so wise!" Soos replied.

(y/n) grabbed my shoulder, pulling me over so I faced him, an expression of panic on his face, "Mason, just say whatever they want you to say so they'll let us out of here!!"

"C'mon, Dipper!! Now's the time, bro!!" Mabel yelled again.

I could feel my heart heavily pounding, feeling as if it was about to jump out and explode, "(y/n), I... I- ..."

I can't..

"I'm gonna find another way out!!"

"Wait, what?!" he yelled as I grabbed his wrist, dragging him away from the door, "Where are we going?!"

We ran through a few tunnels, trying to find a new exit somewhere, but no matter where we ended up, the roaring seemed to just get closer and closer. Eventually, we reached a dead end, and whatever creature was near us, we were now able to see its shadow.

But before we were attacked, another shadow, shaped like a person, attacked the monster and forced it to run away, stepping into, "Well, I just ripped out a monster's tongue."

The man threw the said tongue on the ground before harshly squishing it, which I did my best to ignore so I wouldn't throw up. He definitely had a Mad Scientist vibe to him, with goggles on his messy gray hair, and a white lab coat covering him.

I couldn't believe what was in front of me, "It's- it's you..!!"

"Hurry now! I scared it off, but it'll regenerate!" the man said before running off, the two of us following as he continued to speak, "I wasn't expecting guests. I've been down here for a very long time. Years. Weeks maybe. I miss orange juice."

"You don't understand!" I interrupted, "You're the guy I've been looking for!"

"He's the guy?!"

"(y/n), he's the guy!!" The two of us cheered in our heads, smiling brightly to each other.

The man raised an eyebrow, "The guy?"

"I got like a jillion questions!! Why did you write the journals?! Who was after you?! Why did you build this bunker?!"

He let out a chuckle, "My boy, I'd love to discuss this in time, but we have more pressing matters. It's one of my experiments, a shapeshifter, able to take the form of anyone or anything it sees. It broke free from a cage of solid steel! I've gone half crazy trying to catch the creature alone, but now you're here!" Kneeling down to my eye level, he placed a hand on my shoulder, "Will you help me catch it?"

Uh, DUH!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Come in, come in!" the man lead us inside an extension of the cave/lab, "I apologize for the state of things. I don't get many non-mold people visitors."
While I was mainly blindly following along, I noticed (y/n)'s nose twitching slightly as his eyes scanned the room, trying to point out anything suspicious.
"Now, the beast must have some weakness we can exploit. I used to have my research on him, but alas, I lost my journals so many years ago.."
(y/n)'s attention was taken by that, "Did you say journals?"
"Dude, I found one of them!!" I pulled my- well, his journal out, "It's how I tracked you down here!!"
His eyes widened at the sight, cautiously taking it, "What..? Could it be..?! Heh, my boy, I can't express my gratitude!" He turned around, looking through it, "Oh yes.. after all these years... Yes.. it's all here..!"
I was so happy, I was visibly shaking, leaning over to (y/n) to try to calm down, "(y/n), isn't it amazing we're actually meeting the real author..?!"
"Maze.." his tone was serious as well as a bit of a whisper, "Get behind me.."
"What? Why?"
He grabbed my wrist, pulling me behind him before offering me a can of soup. It seemed ordinary at first, there were many around the floor; it wasn't until I noticed the logo that I felt my blood run cold.
It was the exact face of the man in front of us.
I softly cleared my throat, trying to remain calm, "Uh, you know what? We should probably get going.. Can I have my journal back?"
That's when his head did a complete one-eighty, blinking sideways, "You're not going anywhere!"
A loud scream escaped us as it spread spider legs, crawling up the wall, morphing into a white, slimy creature with two bulging fully pink eyes, and the mouth of a sucker fish, fangs poking out around it.
The creature laughed at our reactions, "How do you like my true form?! Go on, admit it, you like it!"
"You!! What did you do to the real author?!" I yelled.
"You'll never find him! That six fingered nerd hasn't been himself in 30 years! But I do thank you for bringing his journal. He used to write it while I was in my cage! So many wonderful forms to take..!" It kept morphing, first into the Gremloblin, then one of the gnomes, and finally a creature I didn't recognize until (y/n) yelled Hide-Behind.
I looked up at him in a panic, "We've got to get that journal back!"
"Hey, body snatcher!!" (y/n) snatched the can he gave me back, throwing it at the creature. Instead of hitting it though, the creature morphed into a huge mutant frog, grabbing the can with his tongue and swallowing it whole.
It tried to attack us with the tongue right after, to which (y/n) grabbed a piece of metal that was nearby and placed it in front of us, the tongue sticking to it before he let go, hitting the creature's face. Fortunately for us, it dropped the journal as it backed away in pain, giving me a chance to snatch it back before yelling, "RUN RUN RUN!!"
We made a run for it, not daring to look back at whatever other forms that thing might've taken. We didn't run for much, at least not as we ran into one of the many tunnels on the wall, hiding behind as I throes my flashlight into another, seeing the creature follow behind it. It gave us a moment to catch our breaths before heading another direction, when we had to stop in our tracks to avoid crashing into someone.
"Aw, dudes!!" Soos smiled at the sight of us, with Mabel calling our names in relief.
I called theirs, excited for a moment to see them safe, when I placed an arm in front of (y/n) to keep him behind me, "Wait... How we know you're not the shape shifter..?"
Soos gasped, "Maybe I am! Mabel, inspect my shape!"
"Poke!"
When Mabel poked his stomach, he let out a laugh, "Do that again!"
"Poke!"
"Even better the second time!!"
"It's definitely them," I replied, feeling relief wash over me. But then an odd smell reached my nose, and when I looked down, I couldn't stop the gasp that escaped my lips, "Oh my gosh, (y/n), you're bleeding!!"
"Huh?" He glanced down, noticing the blood that was staining the shirt over his previous wound. He pulled his hand away as he noticed, seeing the stains spreading over his hand as well, "Crap.. I think I've overworked my body today.."
"What happened?!" Mabel asked in sorry.
(y/n) took off his jacket in the process of explaining, wrapping it tightly around his waist as he bit his lip to stop himself from reacting to the pain, "We got attacked by the shape-shifter! He broke out of his cage, pretended to be the author, and wants Mason's journal."
"Imagine if he escapes into town!" I continued, "He can transform into anything!! We can never trust anyone ever again!"
Mabel started to fiddle with her sweater, "What do we do?!"
"Well, he took us into his home, tricked us, and tried to destroy us," after looking down to make sure the bleeding had been stopped, if only temporarily, he looked back at us with a small smirk, "I say we return the favor."
So we made a plan, the best we could with the little we had. When the creature began to call my name, we knew it was time to set it into motion.
Mabel and I walked back into view from our hiding place, with her speaking loudly to grab attention, "Oh boy, Dipper, that book sure is filled with some great monsters!!"
"There you are!! Ooh, and a new one!" He morphed into Mabel first, "Should I be one?" then into me, "Or the other? How about both?" He then turned into a hybrid of the two of us, mixing in some spider elements for a more horrific effect, roaring loudly at us.
We screamed as loud as we could, running back to the others as I yelled, "Guys, he's coming, he's coming!! Now now now now!!"
(y/n) and Soos began to turn the valve as planned, but when there was no reaction, Soos turned to us in a panic, "It's not working, dude!!"
The creature stretched its tongue to us, grabbing a hold of the journal, which I did my best to pull back, "Hey, let go!!"
(y/n) ran over, grabbing the journal as well to help me pull it back, "You leave him alone!!"
But he screamed when the creature pulled him and the journal over to it. I yelled his name, about to run over as I saw (y/n) grabbing the nearest object to use as a weapon. But luck was definitely not on our side, because that's when the valve decided to work, shooting out a big wave of water that knocked us all out of our feet.
When the water died down and I managed to cough it out, catching my breath, I quickly looked around. Soos and Mabel seemed alright, also steadying their breathing and trying to stand up.
But (y/n) was nowhere in sight.
Panicking, I ran around, trying to look for him, any signs of him at all, and my heart stopped when my eyes caught him. He was on the ground, at the bottom of the small cliff I was on, motionless. Was he breathing? Alive? I couldn't tell.
Without thinking, I ran to his side, trying to shake him awake, "(y/n)!! No no no no no!! Can you hear me?! Oh, please be okay, please be okay!!"
No response. Instead, his head fell onto my lap like a rag doll, and his chest was completely still. I gasped, feeling the tears already rolling down my cheeks, mind frantic, heart racing, "Oh no, oh no, this is all my fault!! If I had told you when we were in the closet we wouldn't be in this mess!! But I was too scared and now you could be hurt or worse and I never even got a chance to tell you I'm like- in love with you, (y/n)!!"
In the silence that followed, I didn't even have the ability to sob, just numbness was what I felt, though the tears were uncontrollable.
It wasn't until the voice that spoke after that I felt a wave of shock, "Uh.. Mason..?"
I looked back, eyes wide, now seeing (y/n) standing a few feet away from me, "Wh-wha- wh- (y/n)?! Wait, then who's-?!" The (y/n) that had passed out woke up with a jolt, roaring before tackling the real one.
The shape-shifter, of course! I forgot about it in the state of everything!
The creature tried to bite off (y/n)'s face, fangs longer and sharper that original (y/n) as he tried to keep it away with the little strength he had. "GET OFF!!" he yelled, to which the creature only laughed.
"Such a peculiar body you have, little one," the creature spoke, his voice exactly like (y/n)'s, "I think I know more about it than you know yourself!" Just then, it raised a hand, sharp claws forming where his fingers used to be, eyes black with (f/c), digging the claws down. It was meant to pierce through (y/n)'s face, but he avoided them just in time, kicking the creature's abdomen and pushing it off. Unfortunately, the creature's claws got caught up in (y/n)'s jacket, pulling the two off another smaller cliff.
There was a pipe nearby, a remain of the now broken valve, that I grabbed before following the two. They were still fighting, but the creature had already retracted its claws and brought his eyes back to normal, because the new were identical, and I didn't know which one to hit!
One of them looked to me, "Hurry, hit him with the axe!!"
"Don't listen to him!!"
"He's the Shape-Shifter!!"
"Uh- I-I- I don't know who's who!!" I looked between the two as they fought over the journal.
One of them looked at me, pain in his eyes, pleading for me to take action, yelling in fear, "Please, Dipper!! Hurry!!"
And I knew.
I raised the pipe high as I ran over, stabbing it into the one that had just spoken, backing away as the green goo started pouring out, seeing the creature morph back to its original form as it shrieked loudly in pain. (y/n) took the opportunity, kicking it hard in the chest and pushing it back into a tube, which seemed to closed automatically, but I soon realized it was Mabel and Soos back in the other room, trapping the creature inside.
As Mabel and Soos joined us, the creature tried to morph into a lot of different forms, trying to find one that would help it escape, when Soos soon said, "Let's get out of here, dudes."
The creature laughed, visible through the smoke that started to fill its compartment, "You think you're so clever, don't you, Dipper? But you have no idea what you're up against. You will never find the author! If you keep digging, you'll meet a faith worse than you can imagine, and this will be the last form you'll ever take!!"
And the last thing I saw was myself screaming in agony before the creature was permanently frozen for good, leaving me to stare at my own reflection.
A few seconds of silence passed by, then Soos chuckled, "Good luck sleeping tonight!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

It didn't take us long to reach the outside, but it felt like an eternity with how exhausted we were, as well as the awkward air that lingered around.

"Dude, I think I'm kind of adventured out for a while," Soos started, breaking the ice, "My face hurts from doing this all day!"

He made the screaming expression, though no sound came out of his mouth, making Mabel giggle in reply, "Yeah. But you gotta admit, we're all total heroes!"

"Hey, who wants to get some hero's breakfast?" At Soos's question, Mabel cheered and jumped onto his back, the two running off into the woods as (y/n) lightly giggled at the sight.

Well.. it was now or never, I guess...

"Look, (y/n), about earlier... In the heat of the moment, I might've said some dumb things and.. can we just pretend none of that ever happened..? Please...?"

Another pause of silence, the only thing I could listen to was my heart, which was beating far too fast for my liking. So loud. So unbearable. I wanted this to be over.

But I looked up when I felt my hat suddenly snatched away, my face burning up when (y/n) suddenly kissed my cheek, making me freeze up.

His smile was kind as he looked down at me, his own face red as well, "It's okay, Maze.. I've actually been wanting to hear that for a while.."

"You- h-huh..?"

He let out a small laugh, "What, I can't be the only one who felt something different whenever we were together.. I wouldn't cuddle all night with just anyway.."

My face grew hotter, chuckling awkwardly, "You weren't.. So then, you- I mean, do you-..?"

"Yes, Mason.." He placed my hat back on my head, his face only an inch away from mine as he smiled, "I love you too.."

"Oh," was all I said.

Look, I was panicking, I didn't know what I was suppose to say, I've never been through this before.

I cleared my throat, "Cool, awesome, that's- wow, this is-! Is it hot in here- out here? I'm hot, are you hot? Of course you're hot- N-not- not like hot hot! You are-!" I grabbed my hat, placing it over my face to hide the embarrassment. Maybe if I was lucky enough, it would suffocate me and kill me right here.

The only thing that calmed me down was (y/n)'s laughter, soft but joyful, not taunting or to make fun of me, "Alright alright, how about we continue this when we're in better shape..? I gotta take care of my wound, and we could both use a good night's rest.."

I peeked up from my hat, using it to hide the bright smile I had, "Y-yeah.. sounds like a plan."

For a while, we stared at each other, neither of us really sure what to do, though I kept glancing at the lower half of his face, wanting to try something.

Maybe..

J-just maybe...

"OH MY GOSH, HURRY UP AND MAKE OUT!! we both jumped in place as Mabel yelled loudly, spotting her behind some bushes.

"M-MABEL!!" I yelled back, unsure of whether it was a scold or just out of panic, feeling my face so much hotter than before, "How much did you hear?!"

"Everything!! All the time!!"

"I'M NOT HERE!" Soos yelled from behind the bushes.

I grumbled in embarrassment, and though I could tell (y/n) was embarrassed as well, judging my him rubbing his arm and chuckling off the feeling, he still had a bright smile on his face, "Weren't you guys gonna get some hero breakfast or something?"

"And miss this soap opera?!" Mabel sat on the log in front of us, "I would never!"

"I'm glad you had a nice endings, dudes," Soos replied as he sat beside Mabel, slightly freaking her out as the log moved, "I'm still bummed we're no closer to finding the author guy, though. At least I got his science-y coat and briefcase." Our eyes all widened when the briefcase suddenly opened, revealing an entirely new object, "Whoa!! What the-?"

I smiled at the sight, "Soos, that's not a briefcase, that's a laptop!!"

"And a really busted up one too!" Mabel added.

Soos inspected it for a bit, "I bet I could get this thing fixed up in a few days. It's gonna take a lotta duct tape."

(y/n) glanced down at me, "I guess we are a bit closer to figuring things out after all!"

I smiled back at him. Though things didn't go as planned, it ended much better than I had expected, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

It was midnight now, and (y/n) and I were back on the couch watching tv. He wore a tank top so it'd be easy to remove the bandages around his waist, and our cuts and bruises had all been taken care of, all we needed was rest, which we were in the process off right now.

I tilted my head, "Is it just me or does Gravity Falls TV only have the worst movies?"

"You're watching the Gravity Falls Bargain Movie Showcase!" The tv began, "Coming up next, The Widdlest Wampire! The Planet People of Planet Planet! Help! My Mummy's a Werewolf! Attack of the Exclamation Points! The Man with no Taste..! Ghost Turtle! Help! My Mummy's a Werewolf! 2: This Again!"

"You get used to it," (y/n) replied as he threw a handful of popcorn into his mouth, one of them bouncing off his cheek and hitting my nose.

We both laughed, letting him snuggle into my hair as he always did, and enjoying the feeling of our hands holding, fingers intertwined with each other's, just as I had hoped for so long..

Thanks for reading!!! 'Till next time!!!
