Chapter Fifteen: Boys In The Summer (Part Two finale)
*July 2024*
On July 1st, Bronwyn went to the cemetery to see Jenny's grave while gathering the flowers because today is Jenny's birthday, three days before the 4th of July. She walked over to the grave, stopped when she found it, and let herself speak to Jenny. She then put the flower on the ground.
Bronwyn: Hey J. Happy birthday. I- I don't know what I meant to say. Remember, we were going through many things on campus, but one time, I just took you to the festival in New York last summer. We have a good time out there; I wish you were alive and having a good time in summer just one last time. It depends on whether I cared for you and did such a great thing. I couldn't explain it myself; I miss you every day. Your family has been watching you, praying for you, and I will make it up to you now. Jenny, I learned myself and getting a diploma to dedicate to you very soon. Garrett, Zach, the rest of us, and I are heading into the game without pushing us away. I'm here to visit and say I love you, best friend.
Furthermore, Zach has bought himself an apartment. He is taking over Antonio's apartment, most likely to get his own house, so he got the apartment in Jersey City even without telling his parents that he got an apartment. He prepared to leave the apartment when he got dressed, but Bronwyn knocked on the door before he opened it.
Bronwyn: What are you rushing to?
Zach: Just going out some special. Besides, today is July 1st.
Bronwyn: I know. But I have a feeling.
Zach: *hearing*
Bronwyn: You know Jenny's birthday today, right?
Zach: Yeah.
Bronwyn: I just confronted her mom, and she seems crying and hurt because she's missed her daughter.
Zach: I want to root for her at some point.
Bronwyn: I know. Sure as hell, I'm missing her. *sits on the couch*
Zach: *looks at her*
Bronwyn: How's your crib come along?
Zach: It's been months. Well, it's OK.
Bronwyn: *hearing and stands up* Are you ready or not?
Zach: I need to think.
Bronwyn: *hearing*
Zach: *looks around and looks at Bronwyn while holding her face gently*
Bronwyn: *smiles softly* What are you doing?
Zach: I think you're brave and... brightest.
Bronwyn: How dare you have to say that shit. You don't want to get punished for it.
Zach: Not at all.
Bronwyn: Sometimes you did for me back then.
Zach: What are you talking about?
Bronwyn: You were joyful when I walked into the library and took assignments together.
Zach: Once we read the books, I helped you; you helped me.
Bronwyn: *hearing*
Zach: *kisses her*
Bronwyn: *kisses him back*
Zach: *keeps kissing her lips*
Bronwyn: *doing the same and pushes away until she takes her shirt off*
Zach: *unbuttons his shirt and continues kissing her*
Bronwyn: *keeps kissing him*
Zach: *falls to the couch while holding her*
Bronwyn: Oh shit, are you OK? *laughs cutely while looking at him*
Zach: I'm fine. *smiles softly*
Bronwyn: *looks at his eyes*
Zach: You and me, we could be together.
Bronwyn: *hearing*
Zach: If you don't have to.
Bronwyn: I feel better than always with you.
Zach: *hearing*
Bronwyn: *continues kissing him*
Zach: *kisses her back*
The next day, July 2nd, Zach, Garrett, and Bron hung out in Jersey City. They were chilling at the boardwalk while all three looked at the view through New York a little further. The boys kept quiet in the city town without making anything happen.
Garrett: I wouldn't miss it out.
Bron: Those people think that many people will show up daily.
Garrett: So, you don't know these people just yet.
Bron: Give me a break. I have been there twice. I expected this dude, Zach. He has been there a few times.
Zach: *looks at them*
Garrett: If I wondered, I'm about to go straight there, maybe half an hour.
Bron: Listen, we're just chilling right here at the boardwalk instead. I'm going to give you a blessing.
Garrett: OK, what's the difference?
Bron: *sighs and thinking*
Garrett: You don't have to bless me.
Zach: *looking at the water while hearing Bron and Garrett still talking*
Later that night, Pandora walks by herself with the gun in the middle of the night and walks over to the sewer. She takes out the bullets and throws a whole gun into the sewer, which she doesn't like to use anymore.
She is taking a little time to chill outside and sits on the sidewalk, being her different person without being the same, when she looks at the view on the street.
On July 4th, everybody gathered to set up the fireworks at the lake; the people had a good idea when they set the lake for a good setting. Lunet and Ethan arrived at the lake when they got out of the car simultaneously; they saw many people enjoying themselves until Zach walked over to them.
Zach: What's up, buddies?
Ethan and Lunet: Hey.
Lunet: Before we hang out, I have to tell you something.
Zach: What's going on?
Ethan: We're leaving out the city.
Zach: Why is that?
Ethan: I must step out in Newark; it's getting bumped. But it's buzz.
Lunet: *looks at Zach*
Zach: I can appreciate both, but that's a dumb shit. I guess it's a good idea when you guys move out and start new things like that.
Lunet: But does it mean we still hang around until we return?
Zach: Of course, if you have time, we will after you guys return.
Ethan: So, what's up? Are we at the party already?
Zach: Yeah. It's getting started. *walking around with them*
Isla and Lukas are in the water looking at their eyes at each other when Lukas goes underwater; Isla is watching him, and Lukas gets out of underwater.
Isla: *looks at him*
Lukas: Have you tried underwater before?
Isla: *raises his finger and goes underwater*
Lukas: *he goes underwater and sees her doing swimming*
Isla: *swims over to him and holds his hand while closer to him*
Lukas: *looks at Isla*
Lukas and Isla kiss underwater before they emerge from the water. They take a breath and swim out of the water.
Bron sits on the sand, landing his feet in the water, while Pandora walks and sits beside him.
Pandora: Bron, I know what you were thinking. I know that I disappeared, and then you have a right to get mad at me.
Bron: *shakes his head* I'm not mad about anything. Because I care about you.
Pandora: No, you don't. *smiles softly*
Bron: I'm not playing. Why did you disappear? I thought you would die.
Pandora: *hearing*
Bron: But you're here now; you don't have to say anything about your darkness. After we celebrate the 4th of July, I can take you out there to the therapy and get help.
Pandora: You should- You should do that for me.
Bron: *looks at her*
Later that night, everybody was watching the fireworks show while the other people were loud and cheering simultaneously. Most of the boys got in the water to see closer to watch the fireworks; Zach and Bronwyn sat on the sand together while holding each other. When Zach looked up at the sky at the fireworks, Bronwyn did the same. Zach and his friends continued their journey for the rest of the semester, which never happened in one day.
