The Relationship Game Show Car
"I see the door!" Mabel called out loudly, panting.
Waddles was falling a bit behind her, hardly able to catch his breath. "I don't think my little legs can make it!" he shouted back fearfully.
The two had stumbled upon a car that took place in the Jurassic period. Crossing through the car would've been easier if Mabel hadn't gotten the idea to put one of her dinosaur stickers on a T-Rex.
Turns out, dinosaurs aren't a fan of stickers. More specifically, not being touched which is what angered the T-Rex, so now the two were being chased.
Mabel got a quick glance behind her, seeing that Waddles was falling back. "You're a shapeshifter, remember?!" she quickly reminded him, "Change into a cheetah or something!"
Waddles blinked. "Oh yeah."
With that idea, he transformed into a cheetah, becoming three times faster than before. He was able to stop to pick up Mabel and the two were able to get away from the T-Rex just in time before it got a bite out of them.
They ran out of the car and quickly opened the door to the next car, immediately getting in and slamming the door shut. It was incredibly dark inside, Mabel tried to say something but was cut off by a bright light shining on her and a tall man shouted, accompanied by some sort of introduction music, "WELCOME BACK EVERYONE! IT LOOKS LIKE WE HAVE A NEW CONTESTANT TO PLAY EVERYONE'S FAVORITE GAME SHOW, say it with me folks, 'YES, DEFINITELY, OR ABSOLUTELY!!'"
Mabel shielded her squinting eyes from the bright light, trying to figure out what the heck was going on.
"I'm your show host, Evol Love," the man continued and brought his microphone down to Mabel's face, "And what is your name, our new, lovely contestant?"
Mabel blushed lightly and rubbed her eyes, trying to process what exactly was going on. She slowly looked up to see this host, Evol, at a height of seven feet, having pale skin and black hair with a blood-red streak starting from the center of his head to his bangs. Two interesting features he had were his pointed ears, like an elf, and his four arms, two on each side, with top clothes that had enough holes to allow them to fit through. He wore a long sleeve, white button-up dress shirt, the sleeves rolled up to his elbows, with a sleeveless vest, the same color as the streak in his hair and had black lines around it, a black bow tie, black pants, and black dress shoes. He also had small, black hoop earrings on each of his ears, a bold pair of sunglasses, the frames shaped like hearts that matched his vest, and topped it off with a white fedora with a dark red brim around it.
Her eyes widened with shock at the sight of him, causing her to stammer nonsense into the microphone in front of her.
Evol chuckled and removed the lit cigarette from his mouth with his upper right hand. "Sorry, dearie, couldn't quite catch what you said."
She blinked and quickly shook herself awake. "I- I'm Mabel," she answered, "Mabel Pines."
He grinned and nodded. "There you have it, folks, we have our new contestant, Mabel Pines! Let's give her a round of applause everybody."
The audience cheered, clapping and whistling. Mabel looked toward the sounds, only to find the audience was absent. It was all just a void of darkness with sound, just like looking into the fourth wall.
"Huh." Mabel shrugged it off and then realized her companion was no longer by her side. "Waddles?!"
"Right here, Mabs." a quiet voice answered as she felt something light land on her shoulder, looking over to see a familiar spider. Waddles transformed back into a pig, jumping off her shoulder just as he did, and landed beside her. "I checked everywhere, but no sign of a way out of here." he informed her, "I think you'll have to play along with the game show to get to the door."
Mabel looked back up at Evol, his two lower hands resting on his hips, his upper left hand fiddling with the mic, and his upper right hand holding the cigarette in his mouth. He pulled it out and blew out a puff of smoke that came out in the form of a heart before it disappeared; then eyed Mabel with a sinister grin, showing off his sharp, white teeth.
"Are you ready to start the game, sweetheart?" he asked in a mischievous voice.
Mabel shuttered and gulped before slowly nodding. "Y- Yup!" she stammered, "R- ready for anything!"
Evol smirked and brought the microphone back close to his face before facing the audience again. "You heard it here folks, she's ready for our game to start! But the real question is, are you?"
"YES, DEFINITELY, ABSOLUTELY!!" the audience shouted back as a response, loud cheers and applause accompanying it afterward.
Evol laughed cheekily and pointed to the stage where three spotlights just lit up to reveal three prop walls with question marks in the center of them. "For today's show, we have three pleasant bachelors that are ecstatic to meet our contestant!"
Mabel grinned and clapped excitedly. Perhaps being stuck in this car for a while wouldn't be a total waste of time.
"Do you think I'll find my soulmate here?" Mabel whispered to Waddles, trying to hide her excitement.
"Considering that this is the train and the host has four arms..." He looked up at Mabel and slowed after seeing her eager expression. It was obvious she had hope and the last thing he wanted to do was disappoint her, especially on a stage in front of a crowd.
"Well?" Mabel asked, grinning while bouncing on her knees.
"Uhh, I'll just keep my hunches to myself," he replied.
Mabel tilted her head, confused at the response she got but shrugged it off. The audience's cheers were just dying down after Evol cleared his throat to continue.
"Our first bachelor is a lovable and charming fellow. While at first glance, he may seem like an innocent and soft boy to befriend, but don't think of letting your guard down for a second, ladies! This youngster will swear eternal revenge if he doesn't get what he wants, even while he's arrested. Audience, put your hands together for everyone's favorite child psychic..."
Mabel's eyes widened just at the thought of who it was, "Please don't tell me it's-"
"GIDEON GLEEFUL!" Evol announced loudly as he gestured to the first mystery wall with his upper hand holding the cigarette. The wall was lifted and behind it revealed the stubby ten-year-old with his tall white hair in his shiny blue suit.
He sat with his legs crossed on the chair he sat on, a sly smirk on his face as he sent a wink to Mabel. "Hey sugarplum~"
"Oh, son of a-!"
"Mabel, language!" Waddles quickly cut her off.
She slowly put down her hand that she used to cover her mouth, "Oops, sorry." she chuckled embarrassedly.
"Wait, do you know that guy?" Waddles asked curiously.
Mabel rolled her eyes and sighed. "I don't just know him, I hate him with a burning passion."
Evol continues and gestured to the next mystery wall with his lower right hand. "Our second bachelor is a master in the arts of puppeteering, a great one that is hard to come by. With his lovely blond hair and blue eyes, it's hard to pass him by if you forget about his strange hobby. His passion grows every second his heart beats, but don't let that make you think it won't beat for you. Everyone, please welcome...GABE BENSON!"
The wall was lifted and behind it revealed the master of puppets making out with his puppets, one being a magenta book and the other a bee with a red bow tie. Despite the strange conduct, the crowd greeted him with applause and cheers.
Mabel, on the other hand, could only cringe with the comments, "Oh. Ew." she quickly looked away to not see Gabe, "I seriously have no idea what I saw in him before."
"You know this guy too?!" Waddles exclaimed with shock, "And you had a crush on him?!"
Mabel sighed and facepalmed, "Regretfully, yes."
"And last, but certainly not least," Evol gestured to the final mystery wall with his lower left hand, "Our third bachelor is a proud henchman of one of the most powerful wizards in the land. With his incredible archery skills, he is sure to find a place in our hearts. Some may say he's much too good-looking to be pure of his species, but I say he couldn't be any more perfect! Let's give a round of applause for the one and only... HOT ELF!"
The wall was lifted and behind it revealed the pale elf character from Dipper's game, Dungeons, Dungeons, and More Dungeons. He was seen cleaning his bow and arrows and rolled his eyes when he realized he had just been announced. "I'm just here to, like, get a break from Probabilitor," he informed cockily.
"I-" Mabel blinked in shock at who the last person is, "Well... I guess this isn't a total loss."
"I don't understand, you really know all three of these guys, Mabel?"
"Um, yeah, actually." she nodded, "And I'm a bit confused about how they're here too."
"Hm. The car must be able to know about your past once you enter it so they can choose what options to use for their show." Waddles thought aloud, "If they really are real people from your world, it's impossible for the ones in front of us not to be real."
"Oh, honeypot~!" Gideon called out playfully and blew a kiss to his love interest.
Mabel gagged and wiped off the fake kiss from her cheek. "Are you sure? Cause they certainly sound and feel real."
"And... that's all our bachelor's for today's game!" Evol announced, bringing his arms back to his waist, "Now that we've all been introduced, let's start the game to see who Mabel chooses and says, say it with me folks,"
"YES, DEFINITELY, ABSOLUTELY!!" the audience responded in loud, excited shouts and cheers.
Evol was laughing enjoyingly with a grin on his face until a small tap on his leg caught his attention. "Um, Mr. Love?"
The host laughed forcibly, hiding his reaction with a cheeky smirk. "'Evol' is just fine," he responded, hiding his annoyance at what she called him.
She rubbed the back of her neck and nodded, embarrassed, "Right, uh, Evol," she started, "Are you sure these are the only options for me? You don't, perhaps, have anyone else that's not crazy?"
"Oh, silly star," he chuckled as he spun the mic in his hand, "We didn't choose these bachelors as your potential soul mates." He slowly leaned down, getting closer to her, and let out a puff of smoke in front of her face before grinning wickedly, "You did."
Mabel coughed and tried wiping the smoke away from her face while trying to process what Evol just told her. "Wha- no, that doesn't make any sense! I would never choose-!"
"Anyhoo~!" Evol hummed and spun to stand back up straight, "Let's get this game started, shall we?"
Evol brought his lower arm down to Mabel's back, escorting her to the first bachelor: Gideon. Mabel attempted to get out of his grasp but was pushed and stumbled upon her first candidate.
"Hey darlin'~" Gideon waved flirtatiously with a smirky grin.
Mabel shuttered at just the sound of his voice and sighed, "Hey, Gideon..."
"You must be thrilled to see me again after the dreaded torment that kept us away all this time." Gideon spoke dramatically, "I know I missed you."
"Do you mean school?"
"Yes, yes," he waved her response off carelessly.
She rolled her eyes at him, "Look, Gideon, I've already told you I'm not interested. But I'm still open to being friends."
A loud gasp came from the audience after hearing her words. "It seems we have some tension here folks," Evol started to build up the drama, "Will our first bachelor be sent straight to the friend zone?!"
Gideon's face turned red with rage, not ready to let himself be kicked declined. "You WILL love me!" he shouted fiercely, "I gave you everything you could possibly want, how much will it take so I can have you?!"
"You see, that's the problem," Mabel responded without a sense of fear, "No one can just have someone, and the fact that you can't realize that has put me AND my brother in danger!"
"I used Dipper to help me get away from you when I should've stood my ground to tell you myself," she said with regret but keeping her voice firm, "He jumped off a cliff to save me from you, and after you tried to ruin my family, we can't have the relationship you want."
Gideon growled and pouted, "You talk about your brother like you love him more than me!"
"Please don't say it like that," Mabel shuttered, "But, yeah, I do care for him way more than I do you because, unlike you, I can trust him."
Anger only grew in Gideon, clutching his hands as if he was about to snap. "I'll have you..." he muttered and attempted to jump out of his chair, surging towards her, "I'll have you my beautiful, pumpkin-"
A loud snap cut him off; the wall that covered him before reappeared in front of him, blocking his way. Mabel flinched at the two sudden outbursts and slowly looked toward the host.
"Well," Evol started to suggest while trying to keep his cool, "How about visiting the next option, hm?"
While ignoring Gideon's muffled, angry shouts behind them, Mabel, along with Waddles, walked with Evol to Gabe sitting in his chair; thankfully taking a break from his puppets.
"Hey, Mabel," he said in his soft voice, "I didn't think I'd ever be seeing you again."
Mabel's heart pounded as her face started to turn red and become flustered. "Heh... yeah, me either."
"You know, I do see you as a wonderful person, Mabel," he commented and lightly flung his ponytail to the side, "If you want, I'm still down to go out for some biscotti sometime."
The brunette could feel fireworks of celebration going off in her heart but they quickly disappeared after she shook herself awake. She sighed with defeat, knowing what was the better choice to make.
"Thank you for your offer, Gabe," she started, "But I'll have to decline."
His soft smile died, not expecting her to decline his offer, "What? Why?"
She rubbed her arm, feeling ashamed, "I know my obsession with you was huge before, but just thinking about it now makes me feel bitter," she sighed, "I know you weren't aware of what was happening behind the scenes of my puppet show, but a lot happened, mostly big sacrifices."
Mabel smiled softly to herself as the memories of that night flowed into her mind, "I want to thank you though, because I did learn something in that experience."
"What could that have been?" Gabe asked curiously.
"That Dipper and I are idiots that would sacrifice ourselves for each other," she stated proudly, "Plus, you making out with your puppets will always creep me out."
Gabe was agog, hurt by her last few words, letting her off with a stubborn, "Hmph!" and turned his back on her to continue making out with his puppets.
"Yeah... he doesn't stand a chance with that," Mabel commented, feeling ashamed for him while turning away to not see him.
Evol had a grin on his face, one much too big to be a real smile, as his eye twitched with held-back exasperation. "It's a good thing we have one more option!" he attempted to lighten the mood, "Let's move on to the next, and final, choice, shall we?" He snapped his fingers and the wall previously there came back down to put Gabe behind it again.
When they walked over to the last bachelor, they found the Hot Elf too busy examining his nails to notice that they were there. Evol, mad as he already was, obnoxiously cleared his throat to get his attention.
The Hot Elf looked over and rolled his eyes, "Ugh, what do you want?" he asked, sounding slightly peeved.
Mabel saw him and started to drool a bit after seeing his shiny, light blue eyes and fabulous green tunic. Waddles felt a drip of what was falling from her mouth and gagged, "Ugh! Mabel, focus!"
She quickly shook herself awake. "Right, okay, let's just get this over and done with," she said, taking in a deep breath, "Hot Elf, or whatever your name is, I'm sure you're a great guy, considering how hot you look. But I can't accept you."
He raised his brow, leaving the rest of his face emotionless but still seemed to be in some sort of shock. "Really? How so?"
"First of all, you're not even real. Like, not even in real life," she started, "And the day I, sorta, met you, I was being selfish to not want to hang out with Dipper or even let him play his game. I'm really glad I was able to save him, have fun, and learn about, I guess, your world. However, I don't want to have to be reminded of the dangers I partially started. You're alright in my book, but I'm afraid I'll have to pass."
He scoffed, "Excelsi-whatever." and flipped his hair back repeatedly before crossing his arms.
Mabel sighed with defeat but held no regret for what she said and did to all three bachelors. She looked up at Evol, who was frozen in place after seeing what happened with the last round. "So... does this mean the game's over now?" Mabel asked curiously.
"Huh? Oh, no, no, no," he shook his finger at her with a light chuckle, "You still need to choose your soulmate!"
"What?" Mabel tilted her head, "But I already said I don't want any of-"
"YOU WILL CHOOSE SOMEONE!!" he shouted immensely in front of her face, his cigarette snapping in half with his two fingers out of frustration.
Mabel flinched at the outburst, her face becoming slightly pale. She quickly nodded, "O-okay."
After her response, Evol's expression immediately changed back to a soft and tender smile. "Great! Let's head to the final spot where you'll choose the bachelor to your liking." He snapped his fingers and teleported the two of them next to a table with three buzzer buttons, each having the names of the three boys on them. All three walls were also put away to reveal Mabel's three options, Gideon was still fuming with rage but didn't seem to have access to get off his chair. Gabe and the Hot Elf couldn't seem to care less about what was happening in the show.
"Audience!" Evol announced into his microphone, "Now is the best part of our show where our contestant chooses the love of their life and becomes stuck here forev- I mean, lives happily ever after with them!" The crowd responded with claps and cheers, Evol grinning at the sound of applause. He sent Mabel a glare, mouthing the words, "Don't screw this up, kid.", before continuing to wave back at his audience.
Mabel shook with fear and took a deep breath before stepping in front of the three buttons. "Last summer, all I wanted was to find the perfect soulmate to be happy with," she started while speaking into the mic she was given, "But if I learned anything from that experience, it's that boys are crazy! Like, some can be really weird. But with every boy I've dealt with, Dipper, my twin brother, helped me through the crazy and I'd help him too! So with that, I choose..." she eyed all three buzzers and grinned before smashing them with the microphone, "NONE OF YOU!"
The whole audience let out loud gasps and upset murmurs spread like wildfire.
"Are you insane?!" Gideon cried out from his seat, "You do know the only reason your brother only did all that for you was to show off to girls he wants! He's got his priorities straight unlike you!"
"Saving people isn't about glory," Mabel eyed coldly at him with a firm voice, "It's about showing how much you care for your friend. And I know that Dipper knows that too."
"You..." Evol picked up the broken buzzers with pity before completely crushing them with his bare hands, "You little BRAT!" He shouted with rage as anger consumed his body, "Are you trying to ruin my show?!"
Mabel took a small step back with a big gulp. "Um... I just said how I really feel; I didn't mean to ruin anything, I swear!"
Evol huffed heavily, getting louder and louder as hatred and fury engulfed him. He slowly took large steps to approach Mabel before throwing his heart-shaped sunglasses off his face out of frustration, revealing his death-glaring eyes. They were a soulless black with slitted blood-red pupils that looked like daggers. His four arms also grew twice their size, claws growing from his fingernails as outraged flames started to spark behind him.
"I'M GOING TO KILL YOU!" he screamed with a demonic shriek, throwing a fireball from his hand that nearly passed Mabel's face.
"Okay, Waddles, time to go!" she tried signaling to him that this was not an emergency.
"On it!" Waddles exclaimed back, rushing towards her as a cheetah and, in a dash, scooped her up onto his back.
"Whoa, that was fast!" Mabel exclaimed in surprise, "Wait, how did you know we'd need a quick escape?"
He shrugged, still running, as he spotted the door out of the car, "Just a hunch. And, by now, you should really know to expect the unexpected here."
"Guessing you learned your lesson from the last car?" she chuckled, ignoring Evol yelling behind them.
"You could say that... so, thanks."
Mabel smiled and nodded. "No problem."
The scrolling sound from her hand came again and when she looked over she read the number "36".
"Where's it at now?" Waddles asked, out of curiosity, after hearing the number-changing sound.
"Thirty-six."
"Hey, that's pretty good!" he replied proudly as another fireball was thrown right above them.
Mabel slowly nodded as she looked down at her shape-shifting friend. "Waddles... what'll happen when I'm gone? Like, when I go home."
"You, well, go home," he answered simply while dodging a fireball coming from Evol.
"What about you?" she asked worriedly.
"I stay here." he replied, "And help the next crazy passenger who isn't scared of spiders."
Mabel chuckled lightly. "I thought you didn't like helping passengers."
"Well, one time a passenger told me that helping people isn't about glory, it's about showing how much you care for your friend."
Mabel blushed lightly, honored to hear him say that, and hugged him. "Thanks, Waddles," she whispered to him, despite the loud shouts of the angry and upset game show host behind them, "You're a great friend."
