Chapter 5: Hearing Voices

Elsa

It was hard to lose Sandy, but it hit Jack the hardest. We were back at our home in front of the global where all the Guardians have a candle that if one of us passes away, we light it that shines showing a silhouette of the Guardian. We never had to do this before, there was only one silhouette lighten up in this area, I didn't know who it was at first until I meet him today, Pitch Black. I stay closed to North as he put his arm around me, Sandy and he have always been close, and I know his hurting right now. I look across the room to see Jack watching Tooth light the candle making the silhouette light up. His eyes go up to mine as he pushes off the wall he was lending on and leaves the room. I start to follow until I feel North tighten his hold on me. "Let him go Elsa, just a for a few minutes." He whispers. I nod and step back and lower my head, praying to the man in the moon that Sandy was with him.

After we light up Sandy's candle, I quietly leave the Global Room looking for Jack. I start in my room first, knowing it was the only room that had a window high above so I could sit and watch Sandy work, making dreams for the children. It broke my heart thinking that that won't happen again... "Jack?" I yell trying to remind myself why I come in here. I start to look around, no answer until I hear something, like frost hitting a window. I look up to see Jack siting on the edge of my favorite window. Should have guessed. I thought as I feel my wings open up as I fly up to him and join him. He put his hoodie up and he was frosting the window to make it look like Sandy. I feel my wings go on my back, as I place my hands in my lap. We just sat there in silence, not talking or anything just... Silence. "It wasn't your fault you know." Breaking the silence. "You weren't there... You didn't see." He says and looks over at me, the look his giving me is so dark, like his mind is in a dark place right now.

I sigh as I look away from him, "No, I wasn't and I should have been but... I was worrying about myself. I was being selfish." I say feeling bad; I wasn't like this, I always worry about other people, so why didn't I this time? "What happened to you?" He asks. I turn to him to see that he took off his hood. "I... I don't know." I say. I feel my hands star to shake, "Something is wrong with me." I say. "Elsa, you need to talk to me. You know you can tell me anything." He says moving closer to me. I take a deep breath, "I don't even know what happened to me when Pitch attacked. After my arrow got blocked, it was like something, I don't know like broke in me. I couldn't think straight and worse, I was..." I didn't know how to say this next part.

"What Elsa?" He asks our shoulders touching now. I feel tears go into my eyes as I look at him, "I kept hearing, voices. Voice that were just taking over my mind; I'm still hearing them which scares me." I wrap my arms around myself. "What do they say Elsa?" Jack asks I can't believe his still here. "They were telling me to attack, to bring darkness to the world, to be like my father. But I don't understand, my father brings joy to the world, not darkness." I laugh, this is crazy. I look at Jack again; remember what I did to him. "I know I snapped at you when you were trying to help me, and I'm sorry about that, that wasn't me who yelled at you though, I would never yell at someone. Were you scared of me?" I ask. The question shocked him as moves some hair out of my face, "No, no Elsa, you didn't scare me, you worried me." He says keeping his hand on my cheek.

I liked having him close to me, feeling his hand on my cheek just made me feel warm inside, like this is how my life should be. "This isn't me Jack... My center is love, I'm support to make love and feel love." I say as Jack moves his hand back, I wished he wouldn't. "What do you mean by center?" He asks which makes me giggle until I see his serious, "Oh you're not joking." He smiles but shakes his head. "Umm... Well we all have a center, like North is Wonder and mine is Love. It's what makes us... Us." I say. "I guess I haven't found mine yet." Jack says and moves away from me. I sigh trying not showing him I didn't want him to move. "You'll find your center soon Jack, don't worry." I say when I feel a tingle in my head, that isn't your center, and your center is heartbreak. I hear that voice again. I roll my neck, trying to forget it.

"Elsa? What's wrong?" Jack asks seeing my reacting. "It's... *Sigh* I can still hear the voice." "What do they tell you?" "They want me to hurt people, and it was getting harder to keep them quite." The voices were getting louder, so loud that it was making my head hurt, I put a hand on my head, thinking that would help. "Elsa?" I hear but barely, Kill him Elsa, you know you want to, be like your father. The voice says louder than ever. "Shut up... Shut up..." I whisper to myself. "Elsa? What are they saying?" DO IT NOW! It yells so loud I couldn't think as I stand, "STOP IT! JUST STOP IT! GO AWAY!" I yell and scream until I feel someone grab my hand making the voices stop, it was quite again.

"Elsa!" I hear as I feel someone pull me into their arms. I feel Jack star to mess with my hair as tears go into my eyes. "Shh, hush now Elsa, everything is okay." I hear Jack coo calming me down. We sat there in the quite, I was scared to talk or move that the voice would come back but... They didn't. "Their gone... The voices are gone..." I whisper as I look up at Jack. "Why do they stop?" He asks. Because I love you. I thought to myself but I couldn't say that to him, because I didn't even know if that was the reason they stopped, plus, I don't know if he loves me too. "I don't know." I say. I look into his eyes as he moves his thumb under my right eye wiping a tear away.

"Someone so beautiful should never have tears in their eyes." He whispers to me. I feel a small smile go on my lips as I close my eyes and start to lend in, hoping he'll kiss me. I fee his hand go on my shoulder pulling me in, our lips close to touching when he stopped. "Do you hear that?" He asks. I open my eyes and look around, "Hear what?" I ask as he lets go of me and stands. "Someone is calling my name..." He says as I feel the window open. "I need to go." He says as he looks at me, he quickly pecks my lips and flies out the window. "Jack!" I yell as I stick my head out the window feeling the wind hit my face. I feel my wings open up ready to fly after him but I hear my door open.

"Elsa!" I hear below. I look down to see North looking at me, his arms crossed. "Father?" I ask as I go to the ground join him. Something was wrong, I could tell by his face, it was the look that he needed to tell me something that he didn't want to tell me but had too.

"We need to talk."

Jack

I hated leaving Elsa like that, special since she was going to kiss me, I wanted to stay and be with her, but that voice the voice calling my name was strong and I know I've heard it before. Jack! Jack! I kept hearing that voice, the voice of a little girl calling me. I keep flying trying to figure out where the voice is coming from. I look down to see a dark forest below me; the voice was in there somewhere. I swipe down and start flying through the trees. The closer I got, the louder the voice got. I stop when I see a bed, in the middle of the woods; I land on the ground and start walking to it. We send him back under the bed in the dark ages. I remember North telling me that, which means, this is where Pitch lives. I walk over to the bed and crawl under it to fall into a long dark hole.

Catching myself before I hit the ground, I look around to see cages to cages of Tooth's fairies. I flew up to one and looked inside, "Hey guys... don't worry I'm going to get you out." I say as I open the door but none of the fairies are flying. "You guys can't fly can you?" I ask as one shakes their head. I knew if I got the Guardians here they could help, I just had to be fast. "Don't worry guys, I'll get...." Jack! I hear that voice again. I look around trying to figure out where the voice is coming from when I see a giant pail of tins. I fly over to them to see that it's the tins Tooth uses for the teeth. I start digging through them trying to find mine.

"Where is it?" I ask myself as I keep digging. "Looking for this Frost?" I hear a deep dark voice say making me stop. I grab my staff tightly before I quickly turn and shot ice at nothing but a shadow. "Nice try Frost, you almost had me." I hear as I turn to see Pitch looking at me holding a tin in his hand. "Give that to me." I hiss holding my staff tight again. Pitch shakes his head as he throws the tin in the air and catches it. "I don't think so Frost, unless... You join me." "Never." I grind my teeth together. He shrugs his shoulders, "Such a waste, I mean you are powerful, and having you on my team would make you stronger but you choose to be with the Guardians and with Cupid." Hearing her name made me freezes.

Pitch is slowly circling me around me in the shadows; I can't see him anymore, just his shadow. "You leave Elsa out of this." I yell as I hit ice at his shadow but it did nothing. "Oh did I hit a nerve?" I hear behind me as I turn to see Pitch standing close to me, my memoires not in his hand anymore. "I always wondered Jack, do you really love Elsa or is she using her powers to make you love her? To make you do her dirty work?" He ask showing a tight grin. "I mean, she is beautiful, gentle, everything that makes her Cupid, but what if, that was all taken away? Would you still love her?" He asks. I feel my blood start to boil; he has no right to talk about Elsa like that. "You're the one making her hear the voices... What do you want with her?" I ask ready to attack again but Pitch is to quick and grabs me by the throat pinning me to the wall and making me drop my staff.

"To be seen! And she is the key to that! To make my nightmare stronger!" He yells before he drops me and disappears. "You shouldn't have left her alone Jack." I hear in the shadows. I grab my staff trying to look for him till what he said to me hit me. You shouldn't have left her alone Jack. Just kept replaying in my head. "Elsa..." I whisper as I quickly call the wind and go back to North's place. The first thing I see is the Global room is destroyed, elves were laying on the ground hurt, Yetis trying to clean up or helping the elves and I see North is sitting by the Global his head in his hands, Tooth and Bunny with him. "North." I yell as I land and walk up to them.

All three turn to me and I could tell North has been crying. "Jack! Where were you mate!?" Bunny yells as he starts to walk to me but Tooth grabs him making him stop. "What happened?" I ask looking at Tooth. "Pitch and his army attacked us, we... we were outnumbered." She says rubbing her arm. I look around looking for Elsa, my heart pounding out of my chest. "Where's... Elsa?" I ask scared to ask. North's head looked back at the ground his hands shaking. "He took her..." He whispers as he raise his head again.

"Pitch took her."
