The week dragged on, and I couldn't have been happier to get home on that Friday evening. I had been working later these days because I had to devote more time to North who was still misbehaving. We hadn't had a lesson after the first one when he disobeyed that went smoothly. Most of them were as bad, or even worse than the jumping lesson that was a disaster.
I didn't know how or why I had agreed with my dad in entering North and me into a show that took place on saturday, that meant tomorrow morning, but it happened. We were attending a one day show, however it was not just one discipline, we would be competing in dressage and show jumping. I didn't know how that would go. Almost a week had passed since North started fussing and since then we hadn't put in a decent lesson where we actually worked like if it were a regular lesson instead of me fighting with North, so I didn't have high hopes, I was just crossing my fingers for the better.
I got home, followed by my dad and immediately made my way to my room where I changed and sat on my bed scrolling through my instagram feed. I scrolled endlessly, liking some posts and ignoring others, time passed slowly though. My phone buzzed after a while as I was receiving an incoming call from Chris. I picked it up with a sigh, not knowing what to expect because Chris was so unexpected.
"Hello" Chris said into the phone, dragging the "o" out in an excited voice. I chuckled and answered back.
"Hey! What do you need?"
"Why do you assume I need something?" He said in a taunting tone to which I rolled my eyes.
"I don't know, maybe because you always need my help?" I sassed back.
"Fair point." He said quickly "But no, I don't need your help. Call Grace, get ready and meet me outside your house at seven." He said bluntly, with no explanation. I scoffed and spoke into the phone.
"So, you want me and Grace to dress up and go out with you? What are you going to do? kidnap us?" I taunted, over exaggerating because I knew that he was my cousin and he wouldn't put me in harm's way, but I still wanted to know where we were going.
"Yeah, I'm going to kidnap you, that's why I'm telling you. You know? Because if you kidnap someone, you tell them in advance" Chris said in a sassy tone. I let out a laugh that complemented his chuckle. "No we are going out to a party" He stated simply. A smile spread on my face as I stood up.
"You could have said so from the start!" I screeched into the phone
"Whatever," Chris said. I didn't need to be in front of him to know that he was smiling and rolling his eyes.
"Why haven't you hung up already? I have to get ready!" I teased. We laughed in usion and I cut him off by hanging up and dialing Grace. After it rang a bit, Grace picked up.
"What could you possibly need? We saw each other less than an hour ago?" Grace groaned into a phone.
"Come over, we are going to a party" I said simply, knowing that that would catch her attention. Grace loved a god party and I guess Chris knew so to because he told me to bring her along.
"Oh my god yes!" She said excitedly. I heard feet shuffling at the other end of the line and I knew she was coming over so I told her I would see her later before hanging up.
I wasn't a party animal but that didn't mean that I didn't enjoy a fun night every once in a while.
I went over to my closet and looked through my array of clothing in search of an outfit for tonight. It was about 5:10 pm so it gave us plenty of time to be ready before 7:00 pm. Grace would take about 20 minutes to get here as we lived at a fair distance, so I took that time to go into the shower. I washed my hair and stepped out of the shower and changed into some comfy clothes just as the bell rang. I made my way down the stairs and was met by Grace that was carrying a duffle bag in which I assumed she had her clothes.
We quickly made our way upstairs and to my room. Before we started actually getting ready, Grace connected her phone to the bluetooth speakers and blasted music before we got started.
"I have these two top options" I started, motioning to the tops laid out on my bed. One of them was a white off the shoulder top that was flowy and loose, however the other one was a red tube top, both of them which I would pair with a pair of ripped black skinny jeans.
"Tough choice..." Grace breathed out as she flicked her eyes from top to top. "Go for the white off the shoulder top" She said slowly, as if she were unsure. "Yeah, the white one is cute" She said in a more convincing tone after making up her mind.Β I chuckled at her and out the other top away.
I changed into my clothes as Grace spread out the make up she had brought before she went to change as well. I smiled at my reflection in the mirror of my vanity dresser and started brushing my damp hair. Soon enough, Grace was by my side both of us doing our hair as we talked about whatever. I used the curler wand and curled my hair into loose waves, bringing volume to my hair. When i was done curling all of my dark blond hair, I ran my fingers through it giving it a more natural look
When I was happy with my hair, I moved on to my make up. I laughed at one of Grace's silly jokes as I started applying the make up with a beauty blender. I didn't over-do my makeup, instead I applied a minimal amount of my products. I highlighted the high points in my face and added a bit of blush as well as swiping mascara over my lashes. I dusted the slight eye shadow.
A bit over an hour later, Grace and I were fully ready. Both of us stood in front of my full-body mirror checking our appearance one last time. The off the shoulder top complimented the small and simple necklace that hung around my neck, the small golden chain with little stars making its way around it matched my golden earrings.
Grace was dressed in a cute bandeau top with small straps paired with some white jeans and gold accessories. We smiled at each other before making our way to my bed where we sat and watched netflix as we still had about 20 minutes until Chris arrived.
We paused the movie after hearing the doorbell and I went to open the door to find Chris with his hands in his pockets of his black jeans and a navy button up top.
"Are you ready?" he asked without saying hello or anything.
"Yes, let me grab my purse and Grace and we'll be right down," I said with a smile mirroring his.
I climbed the stairs and told Grace that Chris was here while I slipped my nude wedge heels on and grabbed my purse that was a simple pale pink color with a long strap that hung on my shoulder. Grace slipped into her heels as well and grabbed her purse and her phone and we made our way down again to find Chris talking to my parents.
"Done?" My cousin inquwerd. I nodded my head and walked past him to kiss my parents goodbye, stopping to ruffle Chris's blond hair before so. He whined about how he had just fixed his hair but I just ignored his complaints as I made my way out of my house and into Chris's car.
"So, where is the party at?" Grace pipped. She was sitting in the backseat with Chris driving and me in shotgun.
"It's in one of my friends' houses. I promise it won't be a bad party" He said as we sped off.
"I bet it won't, party-boy," I teased Chris. We made our way to his friends house, driving through London's busy streets.
We got there soon enough, and even from outside you could hear the music blasting through the house. Before getting out of the car I stopped chris.
"Who is driving?" I asked chris.
"um..." He started before I remembered that I had a show tomorrow morning as it was saturday and I couldn't be hungover "I will '' I cut him off.
"Since when are you one not to drink?" Grace asked with an amused and confused face.
"Since I have a show tomorrow and since I have a friend and a cousin that I know will get drunk no matter what" I said with a smile. "And besides, it doesn't stop me from drinking as long as I drink moderately, so i'm good"
"At least there is someone responsible" Chris said, locking eyes with Grace as they both laughed.
"You both better not be over-the-top drunk if not I will leave you at the party and leave myself" I warned before we stepped out of the car. Grace grabbed my hand and pulled me in the house followed by chris. We made our way around the house, Chris leading us. The house was packed with people and it reeked of alcohol and sweat. Chris introduced us to a couple of his friends which were pretty nice and before we knew it we were in the kitchen grabbing some drinks.
I was handed a red cup filled with an alcoholic drink, Grace and I clicked the plastic cups together before each of us took a sip. I made out the taste of vodka mixed with something else as it made its way down my throat, burning it in the process. After a couple of sips, the alcohol didn't bother me anymore, and Grace and I were dancing and belting out to the music in the middle of a group of other people.
I swayed my hips to the music taking occasional sips from my cup as Grace and I made small talk with a couple of other girls we knew. We talked over the music, both of us enjoying our time at the party. Grace was already at her third drink and I was just starting my second one. We had lost Chris inbetween the load of people but it didn't really matter right now.
We jumped up and down, all of us screaming the lyrics to the song and dancing like mad people; The lights flickered in different colors, casting a light ever so often to the group of girls in front of me. It was safe to say that I was having a good time.
I felt a faint tap on my shoulder and in front of me stood a boy, a bit taller than me, with blue eyes and a messy brown hair that fell over his eyes.
"May I have this dance" He asked in a raspy accented voice. I glanced at Grace who gave me a small nod of encouragement, turning back to the boy I nodded with a grin and took his hand as we went to the dance floor. I wrapped my arms around his neck and studied his face. I took in his eyes that were blue but had tinges of darker colors, I got lost just staring at his eyes while he stared back at mine.
We swayed to the beat of the music and my eyes flickered around from the boys face to around the party where I spotted both Grace and Chris moving slowly to the music, a smile spread on both their faces. Chris gazed down at Grace, and even though I was quite far, I could make out pure admiration in his eyes. It was clear that he liked her even though I never said anything about the matter. I was happy for them both!
With the slow song coming to an end, I unwrapped my arms from the boy's neck and shot him a smile before walking away. I met up with Grace again in some corner of the house and urged her to tell me what was going on between her and my cousin.
"I saw you dancing with none other than with Chris" I brought the subject up with a knowing look in my eyes. A blush crept on her cheeks and my best friend looked down.
"Yeah? Well I saw you dancing with none other than with Louis Osterfield" she mocked back.
"That's his name?" I asked skeptically just noticing that I never got his name.
"Yeah!" Grace said back with a chuckle, clearly knowing what was going through my mind
"Hmmm" I hummed "He does have a Louis face doesn't he?" I said recalling the blue eyes. Grace laughed more at me to which I rolled my eyes.
"You know that I know that you are sober enough to remember dancing with my cousin right? I will find out what happened between both of you one way or another" I said changing the subject back to Grace.
"Do you now?" She taunted "How are you so sure that I am still sober enough to remember?"
"Because you are not slurring and you are not doing crazy things just yet" I answered matter-of-a-factly.
"You know me to well" She grumbled
"That I do!"
The night went on, and the hours passed. I danced, sang and laughed. It was currently 1:32 A.M and I made my way around the group of people to the kitchen. Even Though the party was nowhere near ending, I had to get home as soon as I still had to be ready for my show today. Throughout the night I had clearly forgotten about the show I had coming up, but now that I hadn't had a drink in a while, I was returning to all of my senses, the butterflies and nerves returning as well.
I pushed people around as I walked through the dance floor finally reaching the kitchen where I found one of Chris's friends who was surprisingly not drunk.
"Eleanor isn't it?" He asked slowly, studying my face.
"Yeah. You are Carson, right?" I asked back. When he nodded, I clearly remember when Chris introduced us earlier that night. It seemed like a lifetime ago though!
"You came here for a drink?" He asked as he got a beer out of the fridge and popped it open taking a sip.
"Um no actually, I came for some water" I said in my british accent.
"Driving tonight aren't you? He asked
"More like morning though" I chuckled and continued "But yes"
"Are you sure you can drive through?" He kept asking questions, but this time concern laced in his voice.
"Yeah, I only had three drinks, I finished the last one a while ago but I prefer to have water to bring me fully back" I explained.
"Okay, let me get it for you," He offered. I saw him head to the fridge and pour some water for me in a clean glass.
I looked out into the crowd of people in search of Grace or Chris but instead I was met with a pair of shining emerald eyes that told a million stories at once. I stared blankly into them but I snapped out of it when I felt Carson place a place on the counter before me. I turned around and took the cup into my hands, sniffing it before taking a drink, confirming that it was plain water.
I gulped the cold water down, immediately feeling more alert. Thanking Carson again, I made my way to the dance floor to get Grace and Chris to bring them home. After walking around for a couple of minutes aimlessly trying to find my friend and cousin, I eventually found Chris. He clearly hadn't followed my advice of "not getting too drunk" because he reeked of alcohol and slurred his words. After arguing with my drunk cousin a bit, I managed to get him to follow me and search for Grace. I found her on the dance floor, her lips locked with who I made out was Louis, the boy I had danced with earlier. I rolled my eyes although I was not bothered and pulled them away, dragging a whining Grace behind me.
We pushed through the crowd until we were out the door. Enveloped in the cold England morning, I led my drunk companions to the car where I helped them get in. I blasted cold air through the car as I drove off in the darkness, lost in my own thoughts that were surprisingly all about the green eyes I had locked with earlier.
Grace was passed out in the backseat and Chris stared out of the window, clearly sobering up. I rounded on the street where Chris's flat was and stopped in front of his apartment.
"Chris? We arrived at your flat, do you want me to help you in?" I said barely above a whisper not wanting to wake Grace up.
"Okay, thankyou" He said slowly. We left the car and I accompanied him to the door to his flat. I hugged him goodbye after he thanked me and instructed me to take Grace to my place. Like if I didn't know that already I thought to myself, and that he would come for his car later today.
I made my way back to the car and Grace had already woken up, but she was still groggy. Minutes later, I arrived home and brought her into my room where she passed out on one end of my bed. Getting ready for bed myself, I tiredly made my way to my bed and curled up under the covers, feeling Grace breathing by me. Turning the opposite way, I fell into a deep slumber that I knew wouldn't last long as I had to be waking up in a couple of hours for the much dreaded show I had to attend.

Guysssss!! Ahhhhh I'm so happy I finally got to publish this chapter, you really don't understand how excited I am for whats to come, I hope you are too.
Quick question, if you were in the book, or my characters were real, who do you think you would be the closest too and why? I think that i pretty much portray Eleanor or at least we are very similar, so I wouldn't choose her, I might go with Chris, I feel like I have a very good relationship with positive and funny people, and i do tend to roll my eyes and laugh at everyone who has a similar personality haha.
I really hope you enjoyed this chapter, don't forget to vote and comment if you liked it, and drop your theories on who this green eyed person is, I'm quite curious to know what you are thinking although you have so little information on them (very little is an understatement, you literally just have their eye color, but lets ignore that lmao)
