The Marigold Resort and Casino (Page 2)
Cynthia's dad drove into the canopy outside the hotel to drop off Cynthia, her mom, and Nicholas at the resort. The friendly Bellhop employees took the families luggage to their reserved room. "Thank you sir", Nicholas thanked the employee. Nicholas and Cynthia then entered the lobby. The lobby was gorgeous, despite looking like any average lobby. Nicholas looked around in awe at the massive lobby. "Cynthie, Cynthie look!" Cynthie was a nick name given to Cynthia by Nicholas. Nicholas gestured heavily towards a grand fountain placed between two tall escalators that lead up the next floor.
Cynthia looked up the elevators. From downstairs, she could hear the sounds upstairs. The clinking of martini glasses, the silverware scraping stained plates, and the chatter...the senseless chatter from the adults upstairs, chatting about stuff that would be useless to them in their lives. Cynthia cringed before sitting on a bench as Nicholas wandered around the lobby. "Cynthia look!!" Nicholas pulled on her arm, excited. The boy pointed towards an area in the corner of the lobby called "the blacklight zone", which was an arcade and play place for children. Children in which had no room in the adults meaningless world.
"Doesn't that look fun? Oh miss Octava (the last name of Cynthia's family), can we please go there? Please please please??" Nicholas begged Cynthia's mother. However, her mother payed no attention, instead still talking with the receptionist about the hotel room. The mother shooed Nicholas off. Nicholas frowned. It reminded him of how his parents find him as a distraction. He solemnly sat next to Cynthia, who was busy writing on her phone. She looked beside her to see Nicholas, in which she patted his shoulder comforting.
It wasn't until Cynthia's dad came into the lobby after parking the car. He looked at Cynthia, and took away her phone. Cynthia looked up at him, surprised and confused. "Sorry Cynthie, you aren't gonna be glued to that metal brick on this trip. You're gonna enjoy this $500 trip whether you want to or not, sweetie." said the Dad, in a condescending tone. Cynthia looked down, slightly annoyed. Nicholas looked at her and gave her a small hug. Cynthia smiled a bit. 15 minutes later, Cynthia's mom came up to the children and gave them two wrist watches that would activate various activities around the hotel. Cynthia smiled and in sign language, thanked her mom.
Suddenly, as the children got up, an employee from upstairs was pushing a hand truck with a bipedal machine on it. This was an animatronic. Cynthia had never seen an animatronic before in her life. She had only heard the name before, but had never seen one. This particular animatronic, which was deactivated, was a purple, bipedal Hippo who wore a red and yellow flower, and a small top hat. Cynthia was fascinated by the machinery. How it managed to create the being before her. Nicholas on the other hand, was not amused by its presence. He had heard stories about animatronics, specifically from the Fazbear brand, we're dangerous, and how they have been dangerous. His father, whenever he got time off work, told him these stories, since his father was a truck driver for Fazbear transportation.
Cynthia tugged on her moms sweater sleeve and pointed at the robot. "Oh my, what an interesting dinosaur", said her Mom. "Excuse me miss?" The front reception desk lady looked at the mother.
"Why is that weird purple robot here?"
"Oh, that's Mr. Hippo, our night of nostalgia animatronic from last week."
"Night of nostalgia?" Asked Nicholas.
"Yep. Every weekend, we bring in a vintage animatronic into our Performing Arts Center so they may reenact what they did back when they were still operational."
"Well, it's Saturday now, what animatronic are you bringing in tonight?" Asked Cynthia's mom.
"We're not sure at the moment. We only know two things about the animatronic, and it's that it's name is "Music Man", and it came from the remains of Circus Baby's Pizza World."
"Ooo, Cynthia, you like music? Do you wanna see the show tonight?"
Cynthia smiled widely and nods sporadically. The idea of an animatronic who made music peaked her interest. And if this robot were to look anything like Mr. Hippo, then she would be more than happy. Her mom smiled, and politely signed up Nicholas and Cynthia for the show. Nicholas was deeply hesitant to see the show because of the rumors he was told. But because Cynthia really wanted to see another animatronic create an art out of noise, he willingly asked to be with her.
The family then went up to their room. It was around 3:30 in the afternoon. Cynthia unpacked her suitcase, and so did Nicholas. "Hey Cynthia?" Asked Nicholas. Cynthia turned around, ceasing to fidget with her watch. "Are you sure you want to go see the show? I mean...I know you haven't seen an animatronic before, but, what if...something goes wrong?" Nicholas asked, trying not to imply that animatronics are dangerous. Cynthia smiled and shook her head, too optimistic about what the show will offer. Nicholas sighed and got ready for the performance.
It took about 30 minutes to travel to the performing arts center, because it was at the back of the resort, being the farthest from the room they were in. The children were swiftly taken past the many restaurants and shopping centers targeted for adults and rarely children. Cynthia looked around, noticing the adults all either holding shopping bags or glasses of alcohol. In the midst of the casino, their was a huge gambling region filled to the brim with colorful, alluring machines promising the over 18's buckets of money. It was gross. The gambling region was loud. Full of unpleasant, fake music. It's only purpose of existing was to draw in adults.
The children were soon dropped off at the performing Arts Center. Cynthia's parents promised to pick them up at 6:00 in time for supper. They gave Cynthia a hug, and left into the realm of fake music.
