Chapter 23

A/N:

Hello again!

Some of you had asked if I will be continuing Misha's story. I will like to tell you that I have decided to continue her story in a separate book but will not be included in this series. It will be viewed as a book of its own. The book is called, If I Stay. Yes, it is out already under my profile. Summary is below:

Misha woke up in the middle of the woods not knowing who or where she was. In the end she found her way into a small town upon entering she was met with some people. They called her a rogue but took pity on her and placed her as an omega in the town. The town she had stumbled upon was a werewolf town infested with hundreds of pack members.

Michael trained under Alpha Maksim for several years. After his destined mate had passed away he threw away his pack and his duty. He was a lost soul until Alpha Maksim found him and took him in. In Alpha Maksim's pack, he learned to control his emotions and the loneliness. However, duty calls and six years later, his father demanded him to return. The pack needed him.

The two were lost souls. Neither expected their fate to cross again, but just maybe, just maybe the Moon Goddess has other plans...

Also, I wanted to inform you all that my book, The Hunting Game is in the process of getting published!!! The book will come with two exclusive chapters, extended epilogue and chapters, and Kyle's bonus chapter!  I am in the middle of working out the contract with my Publisher but I couldn't wait to tell you all!

Misha watched everyone crowd the front of the pack house. It seemed her stay here has expired. There was no reason to stay. Constantin had healed regardless if the cure worked or not. She had written a letter and carefully placed in the couple's room before packing her backpack.

She was on her way out of the pack house and stopped briefly to observe the crowd. No one seemed to notice her. No one ever does. She didn't have any family and she was used to being alone. Hoisting her backpack strap over her shoulder, she turned away from the crowd and headed in the opposite direction. However, she was stopped by a strong pair of hand wrapping around her elbow.

She turned to see that Michael stood before her. He looked at her confused. His eyes flickering to the backpack on her back. Sighing, she turned to face him. She will never get to see this strange man again. He will only be a person in her life—someone she met for a moment in her life. He will eventually forget her and move on.

"Michael." She gave him one of her biggest smile.

"Where are you going?" He asked.

"My time here is up. There is no need for me to stay." She debated if she should tell him the truth or not.

"So, you are just going to sneak out now? There is going to be a challenge going down and you are leaving." He looked surprise.

"It seems like a perfect time. No one will notice I am gone." She shrugged.

"I did." He shot back. His eyes growing darker.

She placed a hand on his chest and stood up on her tip toes to kiss him softly. When she pulled back she felt sadness overcome her soul. She felt so lonely.

"Good bye, Michael." She whispered as she gazed into his hazel eyes before pushing him onto the ground and running towards the edge of the forest.

He didn't chase her. He let her go. Watching from the ground as the woman who just kissed him a moment ago flee.

When Alpha Viktor entered onto the pack grounds, the pack members were restless. The warriors were wary. Many did not trust this Alpha and others feared the challenge will force them to change allegiance. Constantin stood outside with Natalya in his arms as he watched his cousin walk towards them with a smirk on his face.

Natalya's family stood close by for support. Many were not too happy with the challenge that was issued. Nikolai really wanted to tear the damn Alpha apart and it took a lot in Roza to calm her raging mate. Nikolai was extremely protective of his children. He knew what his daughter went through without her mate.

"The whole party is here." Alpha Viktor commented when he stood before them with his Beta. His Beta was a tall big kind of guy.

"What do you hope to accomplish, Viktor? Challenging my mate? Are you insane?" Natalya sneered at Alpha Viktor. Her claws lengthen ready to take out the threat.

"I wouldn't call it insane, Natalya. I would say it is very strategic of me. You have something that I want and I will do everything I can to get it." He said with nonchalance. "Unfortunately, the last time I attempted to get what I wanted it wasn't successful."

Natalya's eyes darkened. She recalled the day they were attacked in the woods. If his indirect indication said anything it was that he was the one who directed the attack. She snarled and launched herself at the disgusting man only to caught around the waist by Constantin.

Constantin pulled Natalya away from the group to a private corner where he cupped her cheeks to gain her focus. Her violet eyes were blazing with gold and orange speckles. She was not happy.

"Do you trust me?" He asked.

"Of course." She seemed to calm down a little.

"Then don't do anything stupid, my female Alpha. Let me fight this. Let me fight my past." He spoke adamantly.

Her facial expression softened and she inhaled deeply to calm her emotions, "Just don't die on me, Constantin."

He grinned. "You got it, babe."

They walked back to the group who waited anxiously to see what would happen next. Yulian looked ready to protect his Alphas. Maksim's body stance looked relax but he was anything but relaxed. The hard look in his eyes was clear enough to see that the man had a killer agenda.

"Now that you two have sorted your thoughts, are you ready? I am a busy person and would like to finish this off before the sun goes down completely." Viktor said in a bored voice.

Natalya ground her teeth to stop her canines from lengthening and wrapping around the man's throat. Constantin's hand dropped around Natalya's waist before he started taking off his shirt. The rules were simple, fight to the death. It was not very often challenges leaves survivors. If there is a loser the opponent will be finish off quickly. Their life as a werewolf will be meaningless because they will constantly be looked upon as a weakling.

Natalya wasn't going to have any of that. If Constantin wins, he will finish Viktor off and if Constantin doesn't; she was more than happy to do it. She learned her lesson with her brother. Maksim left Alpha Henry alone only for the weak Alpha to return.

Constantin now stood facing Alpha Viktor who had also disposed of his shirt. Alpha Viktor like every other Alpha was fit. His body was rippled with muscles even though his body was lean. His hair was very much like Constantin, midnight shade except that Viktor's hair was curly.

Alpha Viktor was first to attack. His thirst for blood was stronger. He charged and fazed Constantin with a low blow before upper cutting Constantin under his jaw sending Constantin flipping back to the ground. Constantin felt instant pain. His jaw and teeth knocked together and his head landed hard onto the grassy ground.

Alpha Viktor gave a victorious smile. Constantin blinked a couple of times before pulling himself back up into a sitting position. Alpha Viktor didn't let him rest for long. The second was up and standing again, Alpha Viktor again threw another punch straight at Constantin's jaw. Constantin ducked and landed a blow to Viktor's stomach. It hard enough to have Viktor coughing as he clutched his stomach.

"Not bad." Viktor shrugged, trying to shrug off Constantin's blow.

Constantin didn't reply. His eyes were focused on his opponents leg movements. Constantin blocked another upper blow with his forearms before finding an opening to Viktor's side where he attempted to kick his side. However, Viktor knew his attack and took hold of Constantin's leg where he hit Constantin on the back of his knee with his fist.

Constantin fell back and Viktor released Constantin. Limping a little from the direct impact on his right knee, Constantin knew he needed to be more careful.

The two continued to fight. At first they were wary of each other's fighting tactics but soon they both grew tired and their attacks became more brutal and painful. Constantin landed many punches on Viktor's body and face but Viktor did just as many back. The two were a bloody mass. A fight between human is painful but a fight between werewolves are a lot more powerful. The impact of the fist was enough to kill a human.

"You're an idiot, Constantin. You know you are not worthy enough to stand by an Alpha. You can't even protect her. I sent mercenaries to kill you off. Your mate got hurt and you couldn't even save her. She almost died because of your poor fighting skills. You are worthless, Constantin. Just like your parents, you are not worthy of anybody." Alpha Viktor coughed up some blood.

Their body were bloodied with open claw wounds and bruises. Natalya hope that this will end soon. Alpha Viktor's taunting seemed to be getting under Constantin's skin. It was the first time that Constantin broke his cool exterior and charged at Viktor who took quick advantage of his clouded anger and landed a hard knock onto Constantin's jaw. Constantin fell down on the ground. His vision was blurring up and he was fighting to stay awake. He could hear Alpha Viktor's laughter before Alpha Viktor kicked him in the stomach over and over again.

"Just like old time, Constantin. You will always be a weakling. You can never beat me. You will always be under my control." Viktor sent hard kicks repeatedly to Constantin's chest. Constantin curled up into a ball and flashes and visions of his past flew past him. He heard his mother's cry. He felt his father's pain when he saw his mate die in front of him.

"Constantin! You are better than this! I know you are! Do not listen to him! Listen to me! Fight! Don't give up. I believe in you and you are not a weakling. You are strong. You saved me from those attackers. You changed for me. You fought for me when others thought you were not worthy." Natalya's cries pierced through his memories and to his heart.

Opening his eyes, he grabbed a hold of Viktor's incoming kick and flipped Viktor onto his back. A snarl spurred from his lips as he straddled his cousin. The movement was quick, it left no room to think. No room for Viktor to fight it off.

"I am not the weak one. I will always be better than you and you know it. You chained me and beat me to make me submit but we both know why you did it. It is because I am better than you, cousin. I will always be better than you." Constantin snarled with blood dripping from his lips. His claws lengthened and he ripped his cousin's throat apart.

He watched the life disappeared from his cousin's eyes before collapsing onto the ground and coughing. He clutched at his chest as pain vibrated through his body. He knew he probably broke a rib or two. Natalya was by his side at once.

"You did it!" She said through her tears. "You're alive."

She kissed him hard on the lips and he kissed her back quickly before pulling back.

"Natalya..." He said weakly. His vision blurring and it was then she saw how tired he was.

"We need to take him to the doctor." He heard Natalya's voice before everything around him faded.
