Chapter 2

People are different. No one is the same as the other, even though most try to be someone else. It's sad, when you see those people. For some, their reason is that they're ashamed of who they are. Others? I'm not really sure what their reasons are.

In my whole life I knew of a couple people who stuck too who they were. They never tried to be someone else, always showed off their uniqueness. They were brave people, still are. I may not see them anymore but I know they'd never change.

"Mommy, I'm tired." I hear a soft voice whine from in front of me. I look up and see a little girl. Her long blonde hair is tied up in a braid, while she's wearing a warm winter coat and rain boots. I smile as I watch the mother pull her closer into her embrace, letting the daughter lay her head on her lap.

The little girl gets comfortable but doesn't close her eyes, instead she gazes up and her eyes lock onto me. Usually when a person sees me, they're disgusted. I'm use too it, I mean, who wants to associate with someone who hasn't had a bath in over a week? I smile softly at the girl, expecting her to ignore me. She surprises me though, instead of turning away she waves softly at me with a huge smile.

Her mother notices and looks up at me as well, but to be expected she glares over at me and makes the daughter look away. I sigh but don't say anything. She's just protecting her daughter, it's motherly instincts.

I hear the speaker announce that we'll be stopping at the next city in five minutes. I first need to get myself some food, and try to find a shower somewhere. Then I'll have to find my new home. Home. I don't really have one, I never did.

I've lived on the street my whole life, when I was a baby I stayed in an orphanage, but not even they wanted me, so when I turned seven they kicked me out immediately.

The train stops and I hear the bell, indicating the doors are opened. I stand up and grab my bag then walk out. I look around me and see all types of people in the subway. I keep my head down and walk towards the entrance of the subway. It takes me a couple minutes to find it, but I eventually do. As I step out the building I see the city is alive.

People are everywhere, whether it be in a car, bus, or even just on the sidewalk. Luckily I grabbed a map of the city so I know where I'd need to go. I look down at the paper and search for a cheap looking restaurant. Once I've found a close one I begin to walk down the sidewalk. People bump and shove into me but I couldn't care less. I just keep walking, not wanting to drag any attention to myself.

It takes a while to find the restaurant but I eventually walk up to the entrance. I step inside and a little jingle goes off. I see a young guy run up to me eagerly. He looks like he's around my age. He has brown hair with soft blue eyes and a huge smile.

"Hello ma'am. I'm Adam, I'll be your waiter this evening. Let me escort you to your seat." He says politely while grabbing a menu and walking to a small table. Odd? He doesn't seem to care about how I look? Strange guy.

I follow after him and sit down, not looking directly at him. He hands me the menu and asks for my drink order. I just ask for a water and he leaves. I look out the window, watching the passing faces.

The meal went quick but it was good and cheap. It should keep me alive for another week before my next meal. I walk around aimlessly now. Not bothering with finding a shower nor a place to sleep. It's around ten o'clock now, but the time just passes.

I have nothing better to do than just wonder the streets, window shopping. I begin to feel bored so I decide to find an alley to sleep in. I find a few but there's always people in them. As I begin to turn a corner I bump into someone.

"Oh I'm so sorry. I didn't see you there." I hear a feminine voice say. I stand up and dust myself off.

"No its okay, it was my fault." I don't stay to listen to her, I immediately walk off wanting to be alone. I finally find an unoccupied alley. I sigh in relief and find a spot to lay down. I open my bag and pull out my blanket, then wrap it around my body as best as I can. I close my eyes and wait for sleep to take over but it doesn't happen, which is odd since I've always been able to fall asleep instantly.

I sit up, giving up on trying to fall asleep. I take out the old book in my bag and practise my reading skills. I never went to school, but I taught myself. No one wanted to help me so I took matters into my own hands.

As I continue to try and read the book I found in a garbage can, I suddenly hear footsteps. The footsteps are very heavy and yet it sounds very graceful. I stand up and grab my things and creep silently towards the entrance of the alley. As I look down the sidewalk I see two men approaching the alley opposite of mine.

As I look closely at the two men I can see that one is extremely tall, he looks to be almost seven feet tall. The other guy seems to be an inch or two shorter. I can't see how they look but I definitely notice the Armani suits the both of them are wearing. They both turn into the alley making me frown in confusion.

How odd? Why would two rich men turn into an alley?

And the ever curious person I am, has to find out. I put my bag around my shoulders and begin to creep after them. Something about them just screams danger and mystery. I know I should be running the other way but something about them draws me in.

I silently creep behind a garbage can, watching these two. I frown as they approach a dead end and just stand there.

Why are they just standing there?

I suddenly feel the ground begin to shake slightly and a bright light shines in front of the two men. The light begins to grow and I suddenly find myself falling back. I fall to the ground but unfortunately bump a couple of box's down causing a huge crash. I curse silently and look up at the two men.

I gasp as I see the taller man standing directly in front of me, but what scares me to the bone are his eyes. His eye's are pitch black, he has no pupils which terrifies me further. I scream and try to scramble away but the man catches me by the waist and throws me over his shoulder.

I continue to scream for help as I pound my fists onto his back continuously. The other man approaches me and whispers something in my ear, that I can't understand. I suddenly feel light headed and instantly pass out.

I guess curiosity is about to kill me.
