Chapter 79: Confusing Theorem
Bako distractedly made his way towards the stairs as he cautiously thought over the previous events in a calculating manner. Before the boy had a chance to fully immerse himself in his notions, he felt a tackling weight cushioning against him, nearly knocking him off balance and taking his breath away. The male glanced back to see a certain individual clinging onto him like a cub.
"Ryo? What are you-?"
"Carry me, please~" The blond swung his feet in pivoting motions, forcing the larger boy to tilt from side to side.
Bako groaned, letting his unamused mood show. "I'm not your transport cart." Despite the blatant unwillingness, Bako adjusted the boy on his back and began climbing the stairs, indulging the cheered blond as his wish was fulfilled.
As they reached the very top, Ryo gratefully jumped off the azure boy's back. "Thank you! That saved me some effort." He began walking away from the boy in a direction Bako had not expected him to take.
"Aren't you going to go visit (Y/n)?" The younger male spun around and shook his head in a negative answer.
"(Y/n) asked me if I can bring her some sweets from somewhere on Saturday, so I'm going to go and research some bakeries that might sell some nice stuff." Bako raised his eyebrow at explanation.
"Will Kaito allow you to do that?" Ryo gave dismissive shrug with a carefree grin.
"I don't care. He's going to the store on Saturday anyway so I'll sneak out without him noticing." The joyful blond placed a finger to his lips in an act of secrecy before walking off to do his research.
Bako thoughtfully looked towards the direction that held the girl's presence. His decision fluctuated between proceeding with his own visit, only to find himself stymy as he attempted to make the first move.
(Y/n) heard a knock on the door, alerting her of an individual's existence just beyond the entrance. The girl confusingly gazed at the threshold and uncertainly called out for the person to enter as she sat up to welcome the company. Bako cautiously stepped inside so as to not alert the female, and allowed her a moment to comprehend his visit before she shuffled uncomfortably from side to side.
Noticing the discomfort in her body language, the boy loomed at the doorway, trying to ease the tension in the air. "Why haven't you been eating anything?" He asked the girl politely and calmly, earning a dismissive shrug from her side.
"I'm not that hungry..." As her words left her mouth, her stomach decided to uncover her bluff as it churned for some substance to be had. (Y/n) froze in the spot as the sounds settled and could feel a fluster coming along as Bako held in a few chuckles from the covetous female's downfall.
"Hahaha, alright. I'll be back in a minute." The male left the area with a mocking smirk, forcing a wave of curiosity to take over the girl as she watched him disappear behind the corner.
"H-hey! Wait!" As the girl tried to reach out and attract the boy's attention, she was confined by the cuffs that still restricted her to the bed. "Oh come on! You're doing this on purpose!" She annoyingly moped as she had no other choice than to await for the boy's return to reveal his idea.
Not long after, the male returned with a plate that held small mists of steam emerging from the top. He placed the porcelain down on the bed for the girl to examine it, to discover it was a plate of fresh pizza. (Y/n) looked up at him in an inquiring sarcastic manner, expecting some sort of explanation from the boy. "Eat." He pointed towards the food and placed his hands on his hips in an expectant gesture as the girl gave him an irked scowl.
"I told you, I'm not that hungry." Though much like her previous attempt, her forged reply was rendered futile as her stomach growled in protest as the delicate scent of the warm food wafted into her senses.
Bako understandingly nodded as though he were buying the sharada, "Convincing. Now eat." He pointed once more to the plate, playing on the girl's stretched nerves.
"I'm not a dog! Stop forcing me if I don't want to." Bako sighed before taking the plate, to the girl's slight relief and disappointment.
"You're right, you're not a dog. Because a dog would eat this without all the hassle. Let me demonstrate." The male moved towards the door before slightly bending his knees to lower his hight and began clicking his tongue and whistling for a certain creature to appear. "Oberon! Here boy! I've got a nice treat for you."
It didn't take a second round of calls before the animal trotted in to gain his reward. Bako teasingly dangled the piece of pizza inches away from the dog's snout. Oberon began lifting himself on his hind legs, nearly reaching the boy's height as he attempted to snap away at the presented goods. The girl watched the drooling dog labouring to get the pizza as the male kept lifting it higher from his reach, forcing the female to watch with great temptations as the animal kept licking its chops in anticipation.
Despite her efforts to look away, she could feel her urges catching on as the dog seemed to be just as tempted as she was, right until the moment her determination crumbled. "Ok! Ok! Stop this! I-I'll eat, just give me the pizza already!" Bako gave her a blank look as he stood frozen in the spot. As the girl was convinced he would hand the goods over to her, Bako let go of the pizza to allow it to fall to the mercy of the Anatolian Shephard. "Wh-what did you do that for?!" She glared at the boy, close to frustrated tears as her temper escalated into annoyance beyond comprehension.
"This was your punishment for being so stubborn. I'll go get you a new one." The boy left before the girl could fully unleash her anger on the cruel male, forcing her to focus her irritation on the happy looking dog.
"Oberon you traitor...that was supposed to be mine." She whined at the animal while he simply gave her a small whimper before devouring the rest of the food.
Oberon began jumping up at the returned boy as he held a fresh plate high, away from the excited dog. "No boy. This one's for (Y/n)." The creature spun in circles as it groaned in disappointment before laying down to mope.
Bako placed the plate down for the girl to accept. (Y/n) took the food and began dining with little regard of her obstinate fasting and continued to send the pleased looking male, annoyed glances. "What's with you and pizza? Is it like a secret obsession or something?"
The male shrugged at her inquiry, "Well, I can cook it, draw it, eat it. What's there not to like?" Bako smugly spoke as he teasingly watched her while she gladly ate the first source of food she's had in hours.
Before the female could answer him back, the male quickly disappeared from the room once more, leaving the girl in a confused state as she proceeded to finish off her food in the silence. Just as she swallowed her last bite, the boy appeared at the doorway and set a box down at his feet and began inspecting the door as he took in every detail that needed to be ameliorated and pulled out a screwdriver from the box to begin working on the loose hinges while the girl stared at his actions.
"What are you doing?" Bako afforded only a small glance before fixating on the work at hand.
"I'm fixing this mess." He referred to the slanted door as he expertly began applying and removing screws to begin complete reconstruction on the frame while the female watched the boy skilfully playing around with the door.
"You're quite the handy man, huh?" Bako humorously chuckled before halfheartedly nodding his head.
"You could say that. Arts and crafts has always been my interest so it only makes sense that I know how to do this." The female compromisingly agreed while she patiently analysed the male's quick progress with the structure while Oberon became bored with the two individuals' company, and left.
Kaito entered a deep state of observational thoughts as he reflexively walked around the living room, recalling back to the previous events of the morning. As he thought over his casual outlook on his friend's pain, he seemed to be stricken by an unfamiliar sensation in his heart as his brain continued to assault him with degrading comments.
Before he could fully snap at himself, his attention was grabbed by a blur passing his vision. The intellectual halted for a single moment of surprise, before glancing towards the form that leaped into the garden. Kaito inquisitively stared at the sight before choosing the follow in the tracks of the distraction. As he stepped out into the autumn air he noticed a certain individual crouching down to assess Oberon as he scanned for any specified items that the dog may hold.
Kaito suspiciously watched as Alex petted the dog, only to be stumped with his approach as the creature began alarmingly growling towards its master. Oberon walked in front of the hampered male and gave him a low grunt of premonition before the boy came out of his surprised state to glare at his pet.
"Oberon. Behave yourself." The dog immediately stopped its alert sounds before unsurely wagging its tail. Alex stood up to face the boy head on, forcing the the creature to begin growling at his friend in urgency to protect his master.
As the two boys held calculative and spiteful scowls towards one another. Oberon kept switching his deterrent rumbles between either male, unsure of who to protect.
"What are you doing?" The intellectual carefully analysed Alex as he attempted to get into his mind and track of thoughts.
"You've been keeping things from me." With an uncompromising tone and a cold voice, Alex accusingly returned the glare as the atmosphere around them seemed to thicken with hidden intentions and double meanings.
Kaito quietly scanned over his next words before finding the answer that would lead them straight to the point without unnecessary facades. "Maybe I have...and you seem to be doing the same." The opposing boy scoffed at the claim before returning back to his neutral expression. "I'm guessing I've lost all your trust, and vice versa, am I correct?" The intellectual smirked as the the silent male felt his blood rushing through his veins, holding back on attacking the smug boy.
"(Y/n) is my priority. I'll get rid of all of you to protect her, if necessary." The male barged past the intellectual, harshly connect shoulders with him before entering the household and disappearing out of sight.
Oberon stopped his confused growls and unsurely walked up to his irritated master. Kaito sighed before stroking the bewildered dog's head as his mind worked on deciphering Alex's knowledge and cultivating his own theories on the subject matter.
Bako analysed the finished piece as he wiped off the sweat that had accumulated on his forehead. After demonstrating the newly functional door and lock to the female, (Y/n) gratefully smiled at his favour and gave him a thumbs up.
"Looks good as new." The male gave it one last scan to assess the damage control and nodded in agreement before the boy proceeded to approach the girl to give her a successful high five. "Ew! Come on man, you're all sweaty!" She amusingly poked his open palm with her finger as to not get any of the results of his hard work on her.
Bako chuckled before fanning his shirt to allow his body some cooling air to ease his enflamed and moist skin. "What? You don't like it?" He cocked an eyebrow at the girl, making her obdurately pout at the suggestiveness.
"I like food. You, Sir, are far from that." Bako shrugged at the comment.
"I can be tasty too, ya know." (Y/n) grumbled at the boy's playful tone, before the male began laughing at her reaction. "Haha, I'm just kidding. I know when I'm not needed. What time is it?"
(Y/n) looked towards the clock that sat at her nightstand to reply to the questioning boy. "It's lunch time." Bako used the new information to conclude on his next routine before gratefully nodding towards the girl.
He picked up his box of tools and began making his way out of the door. "I'll go change in my own room then. Try not to peek, OK?" He gave her a last wink before disappearing out of the entrance.
"Oh, because that's a likely possibility!" (Y/n) shouted out as she loudly jingled the cuffs for the boy to hear. After she ended her small outburst, she gave out a taunting chuckle as she settled down to inspect the handy work the boy had done. "...I don't understand these morons."
Bako prepared to enter his own bedroom before a thought crossed his mind. As his hand stopped at the doorknob he took a moment to think over his next decision as he weighed the negatives and positives of his realisation.
After convincing himself and fighting against his doubts and instinctive urges, he dropped the box of tools to clatter to the ground. He began making bold step towards a certain room that seemed to hold the most danger and alarm as the environment around it held no tolerance for any individual to enter.
Bako stood in front of the closed entrance with an unsure mindset before building up the courage to knock on the forbidden door. "Jin, I need to talk to you."
