Chapter 69: Deceitful Choices

(Y/n) stared at Jin with a horrified, gut feeling and watched as both the boys exchanged challenging gazes of vehement and harmful intentions.

Jin took a moment to look back at the stunned female and give her a sweetened smile. "Don't worry (Y/n). This will be over quickly." Ren's last tempered nerve flared at the boy's words and lunged towards him. The brunet reflexively dodged the upcoming punch. Before his arm could fully swing around, Ren halted the rotation to shoot his elbow towards the opposing male, only for him to predict the sudden switch in motion ducked down before it came within an inch of his face.

The emerald eyed boy retreated two paces back to prepare for any other upcoming blows and think over his own moves. Ren's seething glare fixated on the unharmed boy before an amused chuckle escaped his lips. "You do a superb job at dodging Jin. But I know how uncoordinated you are when throwing punches." Jin gave his friend a saddened smile and approached the unsuspecting boy with slow movements.

"It's true...I don't have the physical power to actually cause you any harm...That's why I rely on my resources." Ren raised his eyebrow at the approaching male before the boy darted at him, colliding both their bodies as either side stood at a stand still in the station. (Y/n) stood at the side, watching as neither male moved from their position and kept their forms locked together. The brunet's lips spread into a wide, ecstatic smile as the other male stumbled back to remove himself away from his attacker to reveal the bleeding gash that had been caused by the smooth blade of the letter opener in his opponent's hand.

(Y/n)'s body froze as the crimson matter escaped from the open wound in his abdomen. The male choked out the vermilion fluid as he slid against the wall, clutching onto the gushing cut to maintain as much of the contents as possible. Jin proudly grinned at his handy work and walked towards the struggling male to jab the soaked weapon back into the wound, to agitate it around and breach a deeper opening.

(Y/n) began trembling at the unnaturally pleased expression on the umber haired boy's features as he kept digging the coated blade to slash the laceration further. The male chuckled as blood cascaded from his friend's choking mouth, to drop down to the floor as his face morphed into pure agony from the teasing torture. "You know, I never understood how you can hate this so much, Ren." Jin pulled the knife out with a quick swiftness and admiringly gazed at his painted hands with an intrigued grin. "It's such a pretty, red colour...a soft and smooth texture...and yet you're shaking just from the sight of it."

Ren's mind seemed to blank out as his world entered a monochrome tint that only allowed for the ruby liquid to be seen in its full saturation. His hands began trembling, not from the harrowing pain, but from the flashing images that entered his subconscious and peripheral area of his dipping mind. "Sister..." As his whisper mixed into his gurgling chokes, he felt an invisible jab at the heart that seemed to be worse than any physical wound that could be brought.

Jin grabbed the limp boy's scalp to bring his face up to look at his lifeless, teared optics. "You say that (Y/n) isn't meant for me. I wonder how she'll feel about a man without any eyes." The boy brought up the bloodied knife towards the wounded male's orbs and tauntingly hovered the blade mere inches from his retinas. "We'll just have to see then...well, at least for some of us." Jin happily grinned to himself as he retracted the cutter to build up momentum before he would jab it through.

"Stop this! Jin, don't!" (Y/n)'s body reacted out of reflex as she held back the boy's preparing arm and shouted her pleads to cease the assault. The boy in question looked back to gaze at the girl with an innocent smirk that seemed to covet his darker intentions.

"How sweet~ (Y/n) is all worried and concerned over Ren's wellbeing. I wonder how much she'll morse over him after he goes."

"And I wonder how much she'll love a man that has his brains blown out." Jin glanced back with an aggravated glint in his eyes before his gaze fixated at the shooting weapon placed in front of his face while Ren smirked as he pointed his gun towards his assailant.

The girl felt her heart drop at the unhesitant flair in the dark haired male's eyes as his finger tightened around the trigger. "REN DON'T! Please stop! K-Kaito, where are you?!" Just as the wounded boy prepared to shoot, a hand reach out to snatch the gun from his weak grasp.

"Enough!" Kaito tightly and relentlessly seized the other assaulter's wounded shoulder and coarsely squeezed the pained cut until Jin groaned out in anguish as he dropped the knife from the searing affliction coursing through his body.

The intellectual grabbed the boy by his collar and lagged him away before he can regain his control and keep him at a distance fro performing any other action. Kaito kicked the bloodied weapon to the side in disgust before turning towards the quivering girl as she entered a state of trauma that paralysed her interior. He carefully approached her shaken form to gently wrap his arms around her and steady her tremors.

(Y/n) began pushing and wriggling as her trembling body felt a hold that would restrain her. "Ssshhh, shh, it's ok (Y/n). They're alright, no one died. It's just me." The girl slowly simmered down her struggling as she heard the secure voice of the male holding her, and allowed his safe clasp to embrace her. "Don't be scared my dear, I won't let anything touch you." Kaito smirked to himself and rested his head against hers before hearing a disapproving grunt from the lime eyed boy that still massaged his injured shoulder.

The intellectual exhaled out of irritation and glanced towards the angered boy that watched the pair's closeness with envious revulsion.

"Are you a fool, Jin...? Can't you see how you've frightened (Y/n)? The poor thing is trembling and you continue sending those scary looks towards her." The boy in question's gaze softened as he watched the female viewing him with a terrified expression.

"(Y/n)...I-"

"I suggest you go to your room for now...I'll talk to you later." Jin prepared to object, had he not heard the slight gasp in the female's unintentional reaction, thus was forced to simply lachrymosely looked to the ground until he found the strength in his feet to leave the scene a he was told. Kaito turned towards the wounded musician as he glared suspicious scowls towards him. "I've called up an ambulance...don't move until they come." Ren proceeded with his dubious glower until he shifted his gaze towards the scared female. Kaito looked over at the girl in his arms to notice her alarmed focus on the bleeding opening in the dark raven's side. She jolted slightly as she felt her eyes being covered, and a person's lips pressing against her ear, "Don't look, imagine there's nothing there and try to think of all of this as a bad dream that will soon end...come on, let me take you somewhere where none of these frights will get to you."

(Y/n) felt herself being lead away as the boy kept his hands over her vision to prevent her from seeing anything that would pique her alertness, and entrust all her reliance in his words. The girl only realised she was being placed in another room by the sound of a door opening. The boy removed his hand from her eyes to reveal he had placed her in his abode, and took her to sit in a chair where she could rest her bewildered psyche.

"I'll give you some tea, and leave you for a few minutes to look over Ren." The girl gave a slight nod before accepting the warm cup of sweetened water and allowed the boy to pet her head in a tender manner. "Don't worry yourself, I'll be right back."

Kaito kneeled down to inspect the shuddering, wounded boy who was trying his best to avoid acknowledging the blood that soaked his surroundings. As the two males stared at one another, they heard the sirens of what seemed to be an ambulance in the distance. "You'll get help soon, so do try to hang on."

Ren glared up at the boy with an untrusting gaze as a sense of suspicion enveloped his mind. "They came quite quickly, don't you think?" The musician caught out, holding an undertone of accusation.

"Is that supposed to mean something?" Kaito faultlessly mocked the male's lacking evidence until the doorbell was rung, signaling the intellectual to answer it. "Now stay here while I go get you aid...not like you have a choice really." He amusingly teased the injured boy and left to respond to the call.

After the paramedics busied themselves with carrying the boy onto the ambulance, Kaito satisfyingly smiled to himself before making his way towards the room of the other attacker, assured with his approach towards the situation.

The intellectual allowed himself into the room to see the boy slumping over at the edge of his bed. Jin gave the male no regard as he mourned over his behaviour and the impact it had over the girl. "...You should be quite ashamed of yourself Jin. Poor (Y/n) was incredibly daunted by your actions, who knows how she'll get over this." Jin clenched his hands together, fighting back the urge to spill out his emotions at the fearful prospect of losing the girl's trust. "Her trembling state. Her stunned expression. Her fearful eyes. Those things will probably haunt you to no end, and let's not begging to discuss how long it will stick with the girl...and it's all thanks to your sporadic actions." The brunet dug his nails into his palms as each reoccurring image of the girl appeared in his mind danced around his subconscious ridicules.

"Kaito..." As the intellectual prepared to leave, he heard the whisper of his name and looked back to see a grief-stricken boy, keeping his head down from guilt. "How...how can I make it better for her...? How can I earn back her trust...?" Kaito stared at the boy, holding a gaze replete with spite.

"Use your brain...You're as important to her as a weed is to a garden...you're not the person that can make (Y/n) happy..." The male closed the door to the lamenting boy to allow him to contemplate over his actions. Kaito smiled to himself as he began making his way back to the female waiting for him. "That's my job."

(Y/n) gratefully accepted the second cup of tea from the boy, and allowed him to comfortingly place an arm on her shoulder. "Are you feeling better (Y/n)?" The girl in question gave him a light, reassured smile, before taking a soothing sip from the herbal liquid.

"Yeah, I was just...'surprised' a bit. That's all." The boy grinned at the assured reply and took the opportunity to pour himself his own cup to drink.

"I'm very happy to hear that. Ren was taken away to get treated and Jin and I had a small chat to discuss his behaviour. So he should be leaving you alone for now...are you alright? You seem quite distracted." Kaito watched as the girl's aura began losing its buoyancy as she reminded herself over the general mood of the house, and its effect on her.

"I don't know...I feel...so unsure around them. All that's been happening is people losing their minds...and I'm always caught up in the fire in some way..." The female felt a pair of hands pressing on her shoulders as the boy leaned over her from above and slyly smirked at the distressed girl.

"I can see how you would feel like that...I mean, the people who are supposed to be looking over you are those that are hurting you the most. Each one of them frightening you. Tormenting you. Slowly breaking you." As each reminder was jabbed into the girl's mind like an unforgiving stab at the back, the images and scenarios flowed back into her subconscious as Kaito squeezed her stiff ridges and spoke with a soft and forcefully gentle tone. "You probably feel so helpless around them. So afraid that any moment they might do something unnecessary, both to those around them and you. I can only imagine how vulnerable you must see yourself as, when all you could do is beg for them to stop and plead with them to come to their senses. In the end, it always seems like they never learnt a thing."

(Y/n) attempted to hold back the watering in her eyes as each sentence brought her realisations and suspicions into perspective of where she stands. "I-I...I don't know if...-" Her words became lost in her throat as she had no excuse for every truthful observation the simpering boy made.

Kaito gently leaned into the girl to speak his words straight into her ear and mind. "You must feel so lonely and lost...there no longer seems to be any trust between you and them...and in the end, you can't hide either. In the end, all you can do is live under the same roof as these scum, in agonising suspense that sooner or later you'll confront with one of them. Whether that's by chance or by their own accord, and experience a repetition of a past, unfortunate encounter. In the end, all you have is a room to yourself that no longer gives you the privacy or safety that it used to. Hell, you don't even have a door anymore to defend you." The girl seemed at the edge of bursting into tears as her body shook with fear at each dawning comprehension that she would no longer manage to feel the same protection by anything around her and live under never-ending paranoia of what would come next. The intellectual could barely hold his grin in as he sensed the upcoming quivers from the comprehensive girl. "So much to worry about. So little options that would comfort you. Feeling as though during the day you have to keep your guard up so that you're not misused again. And during the night, being even more fearful by who would come and take advantage of your defenceless state. What kind of life is that?"

(Y/n) began trembling as each scenario replayed itself through her head as wreckage and blood splattered each image with a red tinted filter in her thoughts. The girl felt herself slipping away into a dreaded, panic attack until she felt the boy's hand grasp her shaking one, and steadying it with its firm, secure grip.

"Unless...there's one thing that could keep you away from all this..." The girl looked up into the boy's glowing, cold eyes as confidence shined through them. "I have quite the authority over them...as much as they dislike me or not, they listen. You've probably tried to get your voice heard a thousand times, but they know who they should follow." Kaito leaned his head beside her own in an affectionate gesture as she hung on his every tantalising word. "That's why I'm willing to use my privilege to keep you safe, and keep them away from you."

"W-what?"

"I'll keep them away from you...but I'm also going to need your full compliance in order for this to work smoothly." The boy saw a spark of hope in the girl's eyes and knew he had hooked her in his ideals. "You'll need to follow what I say and have full trust in me (Y/n). Do you think you can do that, and promise me that you'll understand?"

(Y/n) hesitated as unsure emotions entered her perception and better judgement, and a doubtful feeling wrenched in her gut. Kaito noticed this reluctance and pulled back to look her straight in the face, giving her and urgent and serious look as he rushed her for an answer. "I...I-I understand..."

The boy smirked to himself as he caressed her cheeks with a tender touch. "That's my girl...so, in order to start these precautions off, I'm going to ask a big favour from you. Since your room is no longer fit for keeping you safe from the rest of the household and prevents me from keeping a watchful eye on you, I need you to follow one simple wish of mine. Please, move into my room."

(Y/n) stood frozen at the request and felt her heart sink to the souls of her feet. She immediately sensed her head pounding as panic began to arise in her mind. "W-what?! Kaito, why-?!"

"It's purely to keep a close eye on you so that I know what's occurring. As well as the added reward that none of them will dare set foot in my room if I tell them not to...I know how to explain to them the situation (Y/n). You can easily be protected just by my command and they won't even bat an eye." Kaito could see the slipping uncertainty in the female's expression at each tempting offer.

"B-but I-"

"That is, if you want everything to be the way it is now?" The female's eyes widened at each memory covered in a stygian tint flashed back to her, as she involuntarily brought her hand up to place it on the marked fingerprints at her neck. "I'm guessing you want all of this to stop, right? You know from what you've seen that they all trust and follow me. This is simply an offer, (Y/n). So what's your choice?"

The girl looked down at her lap as she squeezed her hands together, feeling the lingering stare of the boy in front of her. (Y/n) gulped, knowing that her declination of the offer will bring back all the stress and concerns of her safety, and unintentionally went back to each physical altercation and psychological torment she endured from the scenes in her memory.

The girl looked up to exchange gazes with the intellectual, that seemed to have the most levelled recollections within her mind as every unforgettable exchange with the rest of the males, overshadowed his own shortcomings. "I-I...I understand..." Kaito could no longer contain his joy as he wrapped his arms around to claim his prize and shake with suppressed jubilation.

"I'm very pleased you made the right decision, (Y/n). This way you'll remain safe and sound where none of them will get to you. I'll be expecting you to sleep over in my room tonight."
