Chapter 64: Concerns And Terror
The girl spent an elongated amount of time in the kitchen, simply staring at her cup of tea with a dismal expression. She was in conflicting decisions of her situation and worriedly fiddled with her scarf as time seemed to slowly pass her by, thinking over the occurrences of the past 24 hours. She was brought back to the real world as she heard the sound of footsteps approaching the dining area. (Y/n) concluded the noise to be one of the other inhabitants of the household and proceeded to drink her tea before freezing in her spot from the person that entered the room.
Ryo rubbed his forehead in an attempt to massage the ringing headache that had woken him up, and didn't even notice the stunned girl sitting at the far side of the kitchen, her cup halfway to her lips. The boy proceeded to walk over to the fridge, completely unresponsive to the second presence in the room, while the female quietly set her cup down to shakily stand up from her seat to further distance herself from the individual that caused her anxiety.
After building up the valour to silently tiptoe to the entrance while the male was in his distracted state, she dodged behind the frame to fully hide herself from the boy. The girl quickly exited the scenes while Ryo's back was still turned and made a successful escape.
The blond seemed to senses a change in his surroundings and turned around to observe the empty room, letting his eyes fall on the half drunk cup of tea. 'Was somebody here...? Agh! This damn headache! Feels like my head is going to explode.' He rubbed his temple until hearing the ring sound of the toaster propelling the pieces of cooked bread for his consumption. He agitatedly took the toast to weakly set it down on a plate and half-heartedly reached out for a carving tool to cut the food, only to grab onto thin air. 'Hm? Where did the bread knife go?'
(Y/n) quickly made her way to the second floor, only stopping at the very top to catch her breath. She exhaled a sigh of relief before remembering of the other male that was supposed to be located on the upper grounds. 'Where's Alex? Kaito told him to wait here...' She looked around to spot any sign of the boy, only to proceed with her walk towards her room where she would be left safely on her own.
As the female approached her own area, she caught sight of white scraps of card laying on the floor in front of her door. (Y/n) approached the small objects and confirmed them to be puzzle pieces upon closer inspection.
'These are...from Jin's puzzle. What are they doing here?' She picked up each one of the segments and proceeded to make her way to their owner's room to give them back. 'I'll just put them on his table or something...I wonder how they got to my room in the first place...?' As she thought over a logical conclusion to her question, she was alerted by the sound of a loud collision emanating from ahead of her.
The girl hesitated over walking around the corner to witness what the source of the ruckus was. (Y/n) cautiously approached the edge of the wall after hearing the sounds of grunts and growls accompanying the noises of objects being knocked over. She stuck her head around to assess the situation and dropped the puzzle pieces as her eyes stared at the two struggling boys.
"Never hurt (Y/n). Don't go near her again." Jin pushed the knife he was gripping, further into the opposing boy's arm, coating both their clothes in the crimson liquid that flowed out of the wound. Alex panted as he attempted to block out the agonising pain that was brought by the blade's incision into his flesh.
He held against the other boy for both support and a way to restrict his attacker from causing any more damage. The injured boy seemed absorbed over his opponent's words before speaking his thoughts in a whisper. "(Y/n) is my priority, I would never hurt her...I have no purpose to live if not to protect her...and you're in my way." Jin was taken aback as the opposing male glared up at him with a flare in his eyes that showed an animalistic instinct to overpower the pray before him. As an adrenaline rush shot through his bloodstream, Alex shoved the boy to the wall, forcing the knife out of his arm as Jin was sent flying back.
Alex lunged at the stunned boy, and directed his charge at his gut, forcing the male to cough up blood from the inflicted damage. The wounded boy grabbed the weapon out of the loosened hand of his adversary, and built up momentum before plunging the large blade deeply into his assailant's shoulder, lacerating through the muscle and skin. Jin let out an afflicted cry and gripped his assailant's arm to stop him from pushing the weapon further in.
(Y/n) had all her words at the tip of her tongue, too afraid to spill them until her reflexes finally forced her to unintentionally involve herself in the fight. "Alex stop!" At the sound of her voice and command, the malice glint in the boy's orbs seemed to dissolve and the male in question backed away, leaving the knife stuck in the brunt's shoulder blade.
Alex looked over at the horrified girl with a pleased smile. He seemed unfazed by the dripping gash that was still pouring out the red substance down his arm. "I don't hurt you, do I?" The male approached the girl with a virtuous smile, only to have the female back away in response to his movements. He stopped his advance and sent her a bewildered stare at the unexpected reaction he received. "(Y/n), I don't cause you pain, right?" The female he was lingering on keeping silent, as she reeled back to the feral actions and menacing undertone of each motion that seemed to overshadow her original image of the collected and neutral boy. "(Y/n), tell me that I don't harm you." A coat of anxious concern laced the male's vocals, trying to convince himself of his faultless intentions.
"Please don't come near me..." She had no intention to involve herself in the boy's temper and knew her best bet to keep safe was to stay at a distance. Alex fell speechless as his mind began slipping away from the edges of his sensibility, until only the abyss of disquietness remained for each thought.
"(Y/n)-"
"What is going on here?!" The trio looked towards the noise to see an enraged intellectual studying the situation in front of him. After taking one look at the panting brunet that was applying pressure around the area of the protruding cutlery, he then shifted his glare to Alex who was already resentful at the girl's veered attitude of him. "Alex, come with me. I want to speak to you in private. Jin, go get Ren to examine you." The boy only handed the girl a glance before beaconing the seething attacker to follow him.
Alex gave out only a growl of protest, but proceeded to be escorted by the male. Kaito walked behind the boy as though subconsciously scolding him like a child. After the pair of males left the other two teenagers to execute their part of the order, (Y/n)'s attention was brought back to the wounded boy as he wriggled the handle of the knife to loosen up the wound, before retracting the blade from his shoulder with a heavy grunt.
The girl watched as blood effortlessly flowed out of the gash, soaking up in the boy's shirt, creating a large stain around the open flesh. "Jin, don't do that! You'll lose more blood!" To the female's surprise, the boy began chuckling at her request, and pushed against the wound to contain some of the escaping fluid.
"Is (Y/n) worried about me?" He shakily stumbled towards the bewildered girl with a mundane smile to his face, and as he came at a reaching proximity of her, he reached out to gingerly cup her cheek and soothingly cares her skin. (Y/n) sharply inhaled as she felt the ruby substance painting her skin from his bloodied hand. "Don't worry, after what I've had to endure, this pain is insignificant." He reassuringly grinned at her until his eyes shot open and swiftly retracted his hand to grip onto his face as he felt the little, familiar electrical impulses pulsating through his jaw and skull. "Damn it...! Not now!"
The boy collapsed to his knees as the jolting signals put him in a place of torturous agony, forcing him to shout and groan in anguish. "Jin! Hold on! Stay with me!" The boy gripped onto the girl as a means of support with his free hand, hoping that she would stay with him until the suffering would go away. 'Is this one of his conditions?' She knelt down to his level and held onto the boy as beads of sweat and blood began coating the floor underneath him.
After a minute of unending misery, the boy finally felt the relieving sensation of the spreading pain subside. Jin breathed out sighs of relief and ignored the taking-over ache in his shoulder to stand up with the support of the girl and begin making their way to the musician's room. "(Y/n) is so kind and sweet. I'm so happy she's worried about me. It makes me feel like I mean something to her."
"Shut up and just walk. We need to get you to Ren, quickly." The boy smiled at the concern in the girl's tone and felt his heart uplifting, despite the painfully large wound in his deltoid.
"I'm so glad (Y/n) wouldn't abandon me when I'm weak. I'm so glad she still helps me, even when I'm useless."
"Don't say that! Come on, we're here." The girl propped the boy against the wall, and hastily knocked on the door to request for the male inside.
After an impatient moment of waiting, the girl finally had her call answered. As Ren appeared to her, the female immediately took notice of the deep, dark circles that shadowed underneath the male's tired, empty eyes, and the paler tint to his complexion. As lifeless as he looked at first glance, Ren immediately was put on high alert as he noticed the blood stains on the girl's clothing and skin. "(Y/n)! What happened to you-?!" He made a move to inspect the girl for wounds, only to be brushed off by the female.
"The blood's not mine. He needs help." She reverted back to the weak boy who was patiently waiting to be stitched and inspected. "He got stabbed with a bread knife. He needs help, he's been bleeding out for the past 10 minutes and...-Ren...?" She looked over at the male who was shaken at the bones as he stared at his bloodied and wounded friend.
For a moment, it almost seemed as though he would lose consciousness and his eyes flashed familiar images in front of his reality. 'Blood...so much blood...so much pain. So much blood. So much blood. So much blood.'
"Ren!" The musician was snapped away from the bad flashbacks to the natural world by the girl's direction. "Get a hold of yourself! He needs your help!" The boy harshly shook his head to knock away the intruding memories and reached out to support the wounded boy.
"I'm sorry...come on, I need to make sure no infection has occurred." Ren helped the male inside and shakily looked over to the female waiting at the threshold. "I'll take over from here. Thank you."
"Will you be alright...?" He seemed reluctant to answer the regard, knowing his phobia would take over his senses, until he gave her a weak smile.
"Don't worry. I can compose myself appropriately." Though there was an undertone of uncertainty, Ren closed the door to fully emirs himself in his job.
(Y/n) was left to stand outside the entrance as she looked at herself and the mess she was. Slightly quivering at the sight, she decided to quickly strip away the bloodied clothes back in her own bedroom.
After the girl changed her attire, only choosing to keep the scar on for safety reasons, she chose to visit a certain intellectual and inquire on the actions he would take.
The female couldn't help but shiver at the lonely halls as she made her way through the silence. (Y/n) interpreted the quietness of the surroundings to be kept at a high guard, seeming as though anything could jump out of the stillness.
As she approached the intellectual's room, she was nearly startled as the animal lover burst out of the door with a menacing growl and aggressive atmosphere encompassing him. (Y/n) gasped at the sudden outburst, alarming the male of her presence and earning his attention. Alex stared at the girl as she stood still, under the naive delusion he might not see her if she limited her movement. The boy was about to walk up to her, but judged her body language to be against his presence.
His eyes darkened at the female's dejecting attitude and tensed up his muscles as anger filled him to the brim. However, concluding that forcing himself on her would only serve to escalate her eeriness, the boy turned around to depart from the observant girl before his emotions fully convince him to step out of line.
After the boy disappeared, (Y/n) exhaled in relief and cautiously approached the open door of the intellectual's room. As she peeked behind the open frame, she saw the boy carefully analysing a chess piece, rolling the figurine between his fingers in a thoughtful demeanour before noticing the girl at his doorway, preparing her examination of the situation. "What happened?"
"I gave him a basket of muffins, what does it look like?" He sarcastically muttered, earning a glare from the female.
"Don't give me sass, I'm being serious."
"I scolded him, and he threw a tantrum. Nothing more to honestly say." The male relaxed into his chair while shooting the girl a wary gaze. "Are you worried about something?"
"Well...what's going to happen between them?" Kaito turned his full attention back to the female and expired.
"I'll just have to keep them away from each other until things settle down." The girl understandably nodded and shuffled in her spot as her thoughts ended their track at her mouth. Kaito got up from his chair and walked up to the female to assess her body language. "Is something else bothering you...? Did they scare you?"
"Yeah...well...Alex for the most part." As the girl thought back to the boy's unnaturally wild reaction, she felt a warm pressure at the top of her head.
"He gave you quite a fright, didn't he? Don't worry, I'll make sure you two have minimal encounters if that's what you want." The girl nodded in appreciation for the male's concern.
"Thanks...haha, I just need some time to think, that's all." She received a contempt grin from the boy as she stepped away to prepare on leaving the male's room. "Thank you. Well, I'm done here." She shot him a quick, grateful smile before turning around and making her way towards the door, unaware of the frown that embedded itself on the boy's features.
"But I'm not." The male reached out to grab the scarf that was still woven around the female's throat. As the girl unnoticeably proceeded walking, the knot loosened and fully untied itself to completely unravel from her skin. (Y/n) froze in her tracks as the cold air hit her warm skin, bringing a sense of realisation as the clothing completely disappeared from her neck, exposing each black and blue fingerprint. "I knew it."
