Chapter 61: Realisations

Through the whole journey between the intellectual and his captive, there was minimal exchange of words or even glances. As (Y/n) kept a direct and purposeful pace at a far proximity from the male, she could still sense the boy's yearning eyes at her back. 'What was that about...how can he just say something like that, especially after what has happened so far...I know he wants an answer but did he really expect me to accept his feelings just like that...?' As they neared the compound that would soon act as the girl's prison once again, the female stepped away from her escort for him to unlock the gate.

"After you." (Y/n) reluctantly forced her feet to move towards the barrier and past the male. As she walked closer to him, the air around grew thicker as she could feel his unnaturally cold atmosphere blanketing her stiff form. Repressing a shudder, she shuffled towards the second door to the house, and as she neared it, the wooden frame swung open as a figure stumbled out, only halting to realised the other person before him.

"My angel!" Ryo threw himself towards the girl, nearly forcing her to trip over at the impact. "I thought you left me again! Don't do that to me (Y/n)!" The male gave out exaggerated sobs as the female could only stare at him in her dazed state. After taking a moment to access the situation, the blond noticed his friend glaring at the pair, earning a scowl back from the energetic boy. "Why didn't you tell us you were takin her out?!" Kaito simply shrugged off the question, as though it were a mundane thing.

"You didn't tell them we were going outside?" (Y/n) directed her confused gaze to the boy with all the answers, only for him to give none in return.

"Who else is awake right now?" He proceeded to enter the home and avert the subject. Ryo kept his suspicious gaze fixated on him while still holding onto the girl in his arms.

"It's just me and Ren right now...You're lucky, we were ready to wake up everyone after we found out she disappeared." Ryo led the distracted girl back into the house after sending more glares towards his friend. (Y/n) felt her heart sink at the sound of the lock turning and trapping her back in the building. "My angel...I got so, so worried, I was about to go out and look for you." As the boy prepared to swathe the female in his arms, the girl was quickly ripped out of his embrace before he could fully savour the moment. "H-hey!"

"(Y/n), go to your room. I'll come and speak to you in a moment." Kaito let go of her, giving the female great relief at the absence of physical contact. (Y/n) quickly parted from the group, leaving the two boys to interact face-to-face.

"I really don't appreciate that you didn't tell anyone about this." Ryo proceeded to hand the intellectual a spiteful glare, filled with all his frustration.

"You were all asleep. I didn't want to wake you up just so I can inform you of this." However the blond's attitude seemed to have little change in it from the given excuse.

"That doesn't matter. You can't just take her wherever you want like that. Especially without us knowing." He sternly focused on his friend, with a serious glare that was uncommon for the cheerful male.

"Where's Ren?" Kaito stealthily changed the subject as he looked around himself to spot the musician.

"He's in the kitchen going crazy." Ryo handed the opposing boy an accusing scowl as he heard a dish being brutally shattered from the direction of the dining area. "Not another one..."

"Go calm him down before he destroys everything." After his command, Kaito proceeded to walk away from the boy, laving him with the duty of taming the pianist.

"Hey! I'm not finished with you!" Ryo prepared to approach the departing male, only to stop himself when the boy shot him a disapproving look.

"Ryo, can you please help Ren prepare breakfast with the plates and cutlery that are still intact?" The blond gave an irritated growl at his unavailing attempts at conflict with his friend, and did as he was told.

Kaito dismissed the blond's interrogative attitude and made his way up the stairs towards the room holding his captive. Approaching the wooden frame, he knocked against the surface as he requested a permit inside. After receiving a questioning answer, he allowed himself into the girl's room.

As (Y/n) realised who had come to visit her, she automatically switched her attention to other objects in the room to shun the male's company. "Oh, hey..." The intellectual analysed the clear discomfort she had at his presence and caught onto the reasoning behind it.

"Did you have a nice time out?" He attempted to soften the mood with a small smile, however had little effect on the girl's attitude.

"Yeah..." Her bland and mechanical reply sat bitterly in the air as the male stifled a sigh.

"Today I'll be leaving you here with Bako, Alex and Jin. So do behave." The girl gave him an uncomfortable nod and proceeded to pay attention to anything but her guest. Kaito reluctantly exited the room, sensing his attendance was an unwanted position in the area.

As he made his way down the stairs once again, his mind seemed to wonder off into tackling the issue of the female's displeasure towards his confession. As he neared the bottom of the steps, the boy noticed another figure looming towards the end.

"What the hell were you thinking? Taking her out without uttering a single word to us?" Kaito looked up from his dazed mind to stare into the enraged, ebony eyes of the musician.

"I simply didn't want to wake you up with something as trivial as this." The intellectual waved his hand in a repudiating manner, earning an irritated glare from the boy before him.

"You think that I'll accept that excuse, Kaito? Do you know what it feels like to wake up, only to realise that your most precious person is no longer here? I was ready to wreak everything if Ryo hadn't mentioned you might be with her." Kaito made a mental note as a reminder to thank his friend for neutralising the situation for him.

"She's here now. No harm done, so you can stop complaining." After the second attempt at disregarding the incident, Ren chose to press the boy further into a corner.

"If you so much as go near her again, I'll tell everyone about this." However, instead of receiving the defeated answer he was hoping for, he earned a victorious smirk from the ruby haired boy.

"Really now? Then it would be interesting to see how much you can place the bad light on me, if I mention that bite you gave to (Y/n)." Ren froze up from head to toe at the male's words, as his mind raced to look for any possible indications of false bluffs on his side.

"What are you talking about?" He attempted to save his conquered posture by displacing it with a false sense of urgent inquiry. However, to his agonising displeasure, Kaito seemed less than amused by his performance.

"I think you know what I mean very well. And it would be so easy to overshadow my little slip up with something as noteworthy as that. Now, do we have a deal to keep both our mouths shut?" He received his response in the form of a begrudging scowl, before walking past the seething boy to rejoin his friend in the kitchen. "Go wake up the others."

"...F***ing b*****d." The dark haired male muttered under his breath before inhaling a breath of air and taking up the order he had been assigned.

As Kaito entered the cooking area, he noticed his friend halfheartedly cooking food for the rest of the household. "I appreciate you defusing Ren after he realised." Ryo ignored the male's gratitude and concentrated on the breakfast. "...You don't mind keeping this quiet for me?" The blond stopped his process of placing down plates and turned to look at the the second individual in the room.

"I don't want you to do this again...I don't want you to just take her around like that. At least not without telling me." He continued to walk past the intellectual to assort the table.

Kaito racked his brain for a way that would benefit him in the end result. "...If you promise to keep this between us, I'll let you stay home today and look after her." Ryo shot his gaze up at the boy with s hopeful spark in his eyes.

"Really?! You mean it?!" He jumped towards the other male to treat him to a great squeeze.

"Sure..." Kaito wriggled out of the blond's unyielding hold to assist him with the preparations of breakfast.

"Ugh...Ahhgh!" (Y/n) swiftly hit her head against the wall with relentless force, making her skull bounce off at contact. "Ow...never doing that again..." She scolded herself while massaging the pulsing area on her head. Exhaling a few groans of aggravation, the girl fell on top of her bed with an irritating sensation scratching at her subconscious. 'Ugh! No! No, no, no! I can't feel sorry for them! I can't start forming empathy towards these lunatics! If I start pitying them, I start understanding them. If I start understanding them, I start forgiving them. If I start forgiving them, then I might as well be pretending like everything that had happened these past few weeks didn't exist...I can't excuse what they've done to me or my friends. I'll never forget what I and the people I love had to go through because of them...Ahgh! My head hurts.' She growled out her displeasure, rubbin the red dent she had made on her forehead from her hit to the wall.

As a knock on the girl's door reverberated through the room, the female lowered the volume of the television she had been amusing herself with, and answered the persistent caller that demanded for her attention. (Y/n) nearly jumped out of bed as a yellow flash zoomed into the room and tackled her back on the duvet. "Angel! I've brought food for my darling! Hold on!" The boy jumped off of the stunned girl and ran back out of the room, only to appeared again with a tray of goods. "Everything's freshly prepared for my sweetheart. Eat up and tell me what you think." He proudly pushed the tray towards the bewildered female and sat on the ground to watch the girl from the edge of the bed.

He excitedly studied the female to make a move and fidgeted in his position in waiting for her to take a taste from the breakfast. (Y/n) gave him a small irritated glare at the spectacle he performed for such a little feat, and proceeded to take a bite out of the French toast. Ryo held his breath to witness the girl's reaction as he quietly swung from side to side in his sitting position.

"How is it?" He blurted out and gave the girl a stern gaze, demanding for a reply.

The female took a second to chew and taste the food before swallowing down and giving a contempt smile. "It's sweet. I like it." She looked towards the male to notice a jubilant air surrounding his joyful state.

"Yay! Do you think I'm getting better at cooking?!" He sent her another serious look with a concentrated expectancy.

"Yeah, definitely made some sort of improvement." She chose to amuse the boy, earning a wide smile from the exuberant blond.

"Yes! I wanted to get better and satisfy you (Y/n). But is it better than Ren's cooking?" She was slightly surprised at the question, until she gave him a solemn smile and flicked a piece of bread at the boy's forehead.

"Not quite there buddy." Ryo dejectedly pouted at the comment until he pulled himself onto the bed to join the female.

"What's different about it?! I tried so hard to make it good."

"It is good. But Ren seems to have more experience with this." The boy sulked by her side, while the girl continued to eat the rest of her breakfast. "Stop moping, I still like it." However he payed little attention to her comfort and continued moodily staring at his unsatisfactory performance. "Ok, what do you want me to do to make you feel better?" She looked over at the pouting male who immediately perked at her concerned inquiry.

"Feed me." He whined at the girl and opened his mouth, awaiting for toast to be placed at his tongue. (Y/n) gave him a disapproving scowl and proceeded to eat instead. "Come on angel. I want to nom nom." The boy began to irritatingly push and pull the girl in a rhythmic pattern in an attempt to hinder her refusal.

"Keep doing that and you'll get something to the mouth." She murmured and continued to ignore his attention seeking gestures. She prepared to take a bite out of her breakfast when a slice of french toast was smacked against her face. The girl stared at the open space in front of her at the unexpected occurrence, and was only brought back to reality as a swift shift was felt from the male beside her, and watched as the boy ran out of her room to avoid the oncoming chase that was about to begin. After taking a moment to regain her bearings, the female jolted towards the laughing male, with revenge in mind.

As the other three boys arrived from their day of education, they were greeted with the beaming face of a satisfied blond. "You seem to be in a good mood." Kaito commented after analysing his friend's elated state. "I'm guessing (Y/n) has been behaving well." The boy smiled to himself at the evaluation of the female's positive conduction.

"She's been great company." Ryo shut the door after allowing everyone to enter and ran after the others with a spring in each step.

Bako inspected the living room to catch a glimpse of the girl in question and took a seat beside the green eyed boy. "Where is she?"

"(Y/n) is outside with Alex. Look, she managed to finish off the milk puzzle." Jin happily gazed at the white pieces that fit together to create a blank canvas.

'The progress we've made with her over the past week has been tremendous...hopefully she'll make the right choices soon.' As Kaito silently contemplated the development of the girl's bonds with them, his thoughts were interrupted by the girl re-entering the house from the garden. "What? No welcome to any of us?" The intellectual playful raised his eye brow at the female.

"It's your house, you welcome yourself." She sarcastically mocked back and proceeded to take her jacket off and toss it to the animal lover to put away. Ren walked over to the female and tenderly patted her head with a kind smile.

"I've missed you my muse. It was very boring with only these two around." He directed his regard to the insulted males as they gave him glares at the comment.

(Y/n) gently chuckled and seemed completely detached from what the silent boy behind her was doing. As Alex noticed the female's distracted state, he glanced down at the jacket he had been entrusted with and lightly smiled to himself. As his urges tugged against his reasoning, the boy unwillingly placed the clothing against his face to be tempted into inhaling the girl's enticing scent. As her familiar aroma numbed his senses for a moment and he felt himself getting lost in the warm fragrance, his eyes shot open as something more foreign passed through his blissful moment.

Alex pulled back to look at the clothing with disgust as he growled at the contrasting smell he picked up on, earning a confused look form the azure haired male that spotted his reaction.

"Alex? You ok there?" After the question was uttered, everyone's gazes darted towards the boiling boy.

"This...isn't right." He muttered to himself, peaking the interest of the intellectual.

"What are you talking about Alex?" The boy in question clutched the clothing, ready to rip it in pieces in a heartbeat.

"This jacket...this doesn't belong to you." He shot an accusing look towards the female.

(Y/n) took a moment to process the question before her heart beat stood sill from any contraction. She quietly gulped and gave him a confused scoff to try and cover her guilt. "What are you talking about? Of course that's mine." As she approached the boy with the intention of taking the clothing back before further escalation, Alex backed away from her.

"This scent...it's not yours." The female felt her blood hollow out, leaving her skin as an empty shell as her worries began taking over. At that point, all the others present in the room glued their eyes on the girl for an explanation.

"...Haha, well yeah, it used to be my mother's a while ago. I-I borrowed it." However, her attempt at convincing the boy was rendered useless as the male had little trust in her words.

"This is not the smell of any woman." He retorted back as he glared at the jacket with overwhelming rage.

"Well excuse me, but not every woman you meet will be wearing Chanel. Now please give me the coat back." She stuck her hand out to request for the clothing, only to have her requisition rejected.

"Who does this belong to?" He gave her a stern look that showed little gullibility at her excuses and only desired for a proper answer.

"I told you, it's mine. Now give it back." (Y/n)'s nerves began getting irritated at the male's resistance and persisted on avoiding the altercation, knowing the result would shred the precious clothing in pieces.

"It's not. Who's is this?" He gave her and equally ostracising glare, and refused to hand her the jacket.

"Alex. Throw it here, let me check." Bako piped up from his position and stuck a hand out in the air to grab the clothing. Alex threw the jacket towards the boy and as the girl's heart sunk at the meaning of this discovery, her body mechanically reacted as she jumped up and caught the coat as it was traveling mid air. "Hey!"

(Y/n) hastily turned away from the males and crouch down to the floor, hugging the clothing tightly to her body. She heard shuffles from behind her but dared not turn around in fear of having the precious item being snatched from her grasp.

"(Y/n), please give me the coat." As Ren cautiously walked over to the girl and reached out to take the jacket back, (Y/n) smacked his hand away and clung to the fabric tighter, shielding any of its pieces with her body.

"No! Leave it!" Ren frowned at the female's sporadic action and made another attempt to grab the clothing, only to have his hand shoved away. "I said leave it! Don't you dare touch it!" She rolled her shoulders inward to cover the jacket and keep it safe like a valuable object.

Bako glared at the spectacle in front of him before turning to the stunted, teal eyed boy. "Kaito, do something." The intellectual emerged from his bewildered state and speculated at the scene.

After a moment of unsure hesitation, he approached the girl to squat down behind her, and speak in a gentle but serious tone. "(Y/n) can you give me that jacket?" He received a stern shake of the head from the girl, who refused to reveal the clothing. "(Y/n), I told you to give me the jacket." As he reached out to try and feel for the clothing, he received the same treatment as the musician. After his hand was smacked away, Kaito took a moment to analyse for the correct momentum and timing before lunged for the gap between the girl's arms and grabbing onto the clothing to begin a tug of war between the pair of them. "I said let go!"

"You let go!" She shouted back at the boy, refusing to rescind her cover. As she felt her grip loosening on the clothing, (Y/n)'s panicked state forced her to launch her elbow towards the struggling male.

After realising her attack had caused some sort of outcome, she noticed the boy's presence absent from behind her, and could no longer sense his grip on the clothing. "Kaito, you alright man?!" She looked back to see Ryo crouching down beside his friend to inspect the boy's face. Droplets of blood dripped to the floor as the intellectual gripped tightly to his mouth as an impulse of pain emerged from his jaw. Everyone's attention seemed to be focused on the occurrence, when the girl gulped at her actions and quickly shot up.

(Y/n) took the chance to sprint up to the second floor and enter her assigned room, to curl up into the corner, still clutching onto the jacket she had settled on protecting. The girl blanketed the clothing that con notated as her only means of connecting back to her old life, and attempted to stubbornly suppress the tears that brimmed at her lids. 'Hiroko...I'm so sorry...what the hell was I thinking...? I can't stay here. I'm so sorry...You were right...you're always right.'

The girl had welcomed the silence of the house for the past two hours, before her ears perked at the sound of knocks at the door. She refused to answer the call to permit entry, and tightened her hold on the jacket that kept her sanity stitched together. After a solid minute of silence that followed the knocks, the person allowed themselves into the room to notice the girl huddled in the corner. (Y/n) glared up to see Kaito walking towards her with an ice pack compressed to his jawline, and looked away as he approached. After he was at a close proximity, she curled up into the item, blocking out any blind spots that would allow the clothing to be taken from her.

The boy watched her detached state staring at the floor before he positioned himself down to her level to stare at her with an examining look. The atmosphere seemed dead between the two as each particle of air was building a wall to separate the defensive female from her captor.

"(Y/n)...can you look at me?" He received silence as his answer as the girl ignored the presence of the boy before her. "...I'm sorry. What happened back there could have been handled in a much more appropriate way, and I'll take responsibility for provoking you..." More silence came from the girl as she kept her body unmoving like a statue in the hopes of the boy leaving her to her lonesome. "...I came here to offer you something that would hopefully earn back your trust (Y/n)." The boy watched for any reply from the female, however received the same blank response. "I'll take you to visit your friend in hospital."

(Y/n) seemed to straighten up at the offer and give the male a suspicious scowl. After the two intensely stared at each other, the girl gave him a firm nod as her answer.
