Chapter 46: Cornered

"What are you going to do (Y/n)?" Saki looked over to her paralysed friend that was attempting to block out the sounds of the ringing phone.

"...I'm tired...I'm so tired..." The girl gently rubbed her face and massaged her head as she pondered on what to do. After a large sigh, she took the device in her aching hands and lifted it to her ear. "What-?"

"Hahaha! Fantastic darling! Absolutely amazing! Bako just arrived and explained to us what stunt you pulled, and I must tip my hat to your resoluteness." The girl rolled her eyes at the comment and leaned against Lala for a more comfortable position. "But I am quite disappointed that you're not here right now, did you not want to come back?" The female growled at the question, knowing he was trying to trigger her.

"Don't you dare try and hurt my friends again." It was a quiet warning, filled with emotion and purpose.

"Aaww did Kenzan not like our welcome? I guess next time I'll have to try harder." (Y/n) glared at the phone as a dark chuckle emerged from the speakers.

"Shouldn't you be at school. You don't want your grades to go down, right?" Kaito let out an irritated sigh at the change of subject.

"You think we care about school right now? Our top priority is you, (Y/n). So why don't you be a sweetheart and make this easy for all of us?" The girl scoffed and chose to remain quiet for the time being. "Nothing...? You do know what happens to your precious friends if you don't agree to our terms?" The female gulped at the reminder but refrained from responding, analysing each cynical and cryptic word. "Just because you saved your boyfriend doesn't mean you'll be able to protect all of your friends."

"I won't let you hurt them." However she was given an amused chuckle to indicate the boy's doubtful nature.

"Really? How fun! Then I guess you'll be running after Nami right now?" The girl felt her heart sink at the mention of her friend's name and felt a nauseas sensation rising in her throat.

"W-what...?"

"Ren was quite livid when he found out you were not coming. I tried to stop him but the boy was simply blinded by rage, so he left without any explanation." The intellectual innocently described, having little to no indication of regret in his voice.

"Where is he?!" Lala kept tugging at the girl's shirt in an attempt to catch her attention and demand for an explanation. (Y/n) swatted the girl's hand away and gestured for her to keep quiet.

"Hhhmm...maybe around that little alleyway, near the bus stop. He's quite attentive over where he would perform such a bold move." The girl growled and bolted up from the couch towards the door. "Aaww, no 'thank you' for the insight?" The boy cooed out, hearing the indicative shifts from beyond his line.

"I'll be thankful when you're dead." (Y/n) hung up and grabbed the coat that originally belonged to her geography partner.

"(Y/n), what's going on?" The two sisters came up to the girl, ready for another round of hassle.

"I think Ren is going to hurt Nami. I need to go."

"Wait, we'll come with you-" Lala was interrupted by the negative shakes of the girl's head.

"Not this time, I know that Ren has a weapon in use and I need you two to look after Kenzan." (Y/n) pushed the door to the outside and quickly exited the house, ignoring the painful strain she was putting on her legs.

"Are you kidding with us?! What are we supposed to do if something happens to you?!" Saki shouted from the doorway, preparing to dash after the running girl.

"Just stay here where it's safe! I'll figure something out!" (Y/n) shouted back, keeping a stern stare forward as she ran to aid her friend.

'I don't think my body can handle much more of this...come on, just a few more steps!' She tried to assert her motor capabilities to their greater potential and only afforded to slow down when she approached the area she was looking for. She apprehensively walked up to the assigned destination, hearing no sound beside the frantic tapping of her own feet. 'There it is...please Ren, please have mercy...' She prayed that there would be no harm inflicted on the girl. As she rounded the corner to the elongated alley, her heart plunged to her aching feet, as she dared not take a step further to the sight before her.

"I'm so glad you can join us, my muse. I'm certain your dear friend here surely appreciated it." Ren turned to the girl beside him that was currently frozen in place, refusing to peel her eyes off of the shooting weapon that was being pressed up behind her ear. "Nami and I have been patiently waiting for your arrival sweetheart. Any later and I would have been tempted to press on the trigger~" the boy tenderly patted the frightened girl's head, causing her paralysed body to quiver at the unnaturally gentle touch. "But I'll just excuse your tardiness as 'fashionably late' and forgive your little escape routine you pulled on Bako."

"Ren, please...just leave her alone, she has nothing to do with this." The girl carefully approached the boy with caution, wary not to cause any drastic actions on his side. (Y/n) noticed the fallen papers and books on the ground that belonged to the trembling female, implying on some sort of moment of shock.

"You wouldn't believe what a hassle it was to get her all the way here. Unlike your other friends, this one was quite suspicious of me." As he proceeded to pat the female's head, his pressure and grip on her hair progressively became turbulent and tighter, causing the girl to wince in pain but keep her muscles clenched, to avoid any prompting moves from her captor.

"Ren, please...I'll do anything, just don't hurt her." (Y/n) carefully knelt down to the ground and began gathering her friend's equipment and slipped a piece of paper into her notebook before slowly getting up and approaching the pair. "I'll do anything..."

The boy immediately loosened his hold on the teenager's hair, and stretched one arm out in a welcoming fashion, "Come to me, my muse. I want to hold you." He shone her his trademark, kind smile to oppose the image of the gun still pressed to her friend's head.

(Y/n) reluctantly walked towards the boy's open body and as she came at a close proximity, the male wrapped his free arm around the girl's stiff frame. Ren pulled his armed hand away from Nami and weaved it around the defeated girl to press her further into his form. The lavender haired female took a deep breath, realising she had been holding in a lung of oxygen until that point. She prepared to collapse to the ground if she wasn't stunned by the events that had taken place.

"You're so warm, (Y/n). I missed this warmth so dearly...now for this one." Ren unveiled his arm from around the girl and pointed the gun back at his previous captive. Nami gave a slight gasp and felt her body solidifying on the spot as she was left staring at the weapon aimed at her head. (Y/n) quickly took notice of this but before she could make a move to interfere, Ren increasingly tightened his hold on the female, locking her in place away from the weapon.

"Ren what are you doing?! Stop!" However the boy payed little attention to the struggling female.

"I can't risk her running her mouth, and ruining my chances with you." The female frantically fought against his hold but to no avail.

"Ren please, she won't say anything! She'll stay quiet about this, she'll forget about this!"

"I can't risk it."

"Ren, please do this for me! This will only complicate things, when she can just keep this a secret." The boy glanced at the panicked girl in his arms. "Please...I'll come with you without any hassle and you don't have to get your hands dirty." The dark haired student looked back at the catatonic female with a warning glint to his eyes.

"You'll stay quiet, or you and your brother will take a round from this." He indicated towards the weapon before lowering it and awaiting for her response. Nami looked towards her friend for indication on what to do and (Y/n) nodded her head as signal for the female to mimic her gesture. The girl did as she was told and wordlessly copied her friend. "Good...let's go." The boy made the first move to walk away until he was pulled back by the girl in his arms. "(Y/n)?"

"Please let me say goodbye to her." The male sternly shook his head and tugged on her, only to be held back once again. "Please Ren, please. I'm not going to try and do anything. If I do, you can..." The girl trailed off, irking at the boy's curiosity. "You can shoot her...so I promise I won't do anything..." Ren uncertainly looked back at the traumatised girl and clenched his jaw in annoyance. He referred back to (Y/n), however, instead of the denying answer he was going to present her with, his defiance softened and wavered as she stared at him with pleading eyes.

"Don't take long." He begrudgingly let go of the girl, letting her apprehensively approach her friend. (Y/n) handed the female her equipment, while Nami took her belongings with shaken hands.

(Y/n) closed in on the student to give her a sorrowful embrace. Before parting with her friend, the female whispered into the girl's ear and stepped back, leaving the teenager with a confused look on her face. "And don't tell anyone, alright?" Nami reluctantly nodded, still dazed by the whole experience and turned around to run away from the pair. "Stay safe..." (Y/n) whispered as she watched her friend's form disappear from view. Just as her muscles began to relax, the girl's body tensed up once again as she felt a presence lingering behind her.

"Shall we go?" Ren took her hand and secured his hold on her before she could rip it away.

"Yeah..."

"And if you try to run, I'll hunt that girl down again." The female swallowed at the threat made towards her friend and remained quiet as they walked. "...I know you're upset with me, but I hope one day you'll understand why I'm doing this." The girl scoffed at his excuse but gave no further commentary. "Believe me, I'll make sure you don't regret your stay."

(Y/n) felt disgusted at the sight of the familiar, large building and was almost tempted to dash away again, had the boy not been benignly pushing her from the back. She felt the blood rush in her ears as she passed the iron gate, her senses peaking on high alert as Ren securely locked it, finalising her capture. The boy took note of her hesitant movements and came behind to encourage her forward. "Come on, you don't have to be afraid." Despite the sweetness laced in his smile, (Y/n) felt at little ease with his attempt at comfort.

'I have a lot of reasons to be afraid...' As (Y/n) stood face to face with the door she had desperately hoped never to enter again, her heart sank to her gut.

Ren reached out to turn the handle but was left grabbing onto air as the door flung open. A yellow blur bolted at the girl, wrapping her stunned form in a tight embrace. "My darling! My angel! My sweet, sweet honeysuckle! Give me a welcome kiss, sweetheart~" Ryo closed in on the benumbed girl but was forced to stop his progress as he felt a jab to the head, and heard familiar sound of a click. "Y-you're getting way too comfortable with using that Ren." The blond innocently backed away with a troubled grin.

The dark haired male took the girl by the arm and lead her inside, averting his aimed gun away from his friend. Ryo huffed in disappointment and followed the pair inside, making a few obscene comments under his breath.

As (Y/n) entered the home she felt all eyes on her, despite focusing her attention to the ground, avoiding all eye contact she would receive if she were to look up. As a pair of footsteps approached the girl she silently gulped, knowing who it was.

"Now was that so hard, (Y/n)? All this trouble for nothing." The self satisfied tone of the male caused her to grimace but refused to look up into the boy's cold eyes. "Aren't you going to say anything?" There was a spot of irritancy in his voice at the lacking reaction he was receiving.

(Y/n) had many things to say. None of them flattering. But she opted for the choice that would cause her less hassle, and simply remained silent as a tusking sound was heard.

"Fine. You can play that game. Good job Ren." The boy nodded at the appreciation. "Bako, take her to the guest room for now. I'll talk to her later." As the command was made, Kaito took a step closer to the female, almost persuading her to back up. He leaned in, close beside her head so as to inaudibly whisper to the girl, "And you better find your voice until then." As Bako approached the two, Kaito backed away to rejoin the rest of the group and leave the lapis male to perform his duty.

On the way to the second floor, (Y/n) could hear a ruckus arising below, but chose to ignore the noise and focused on getting her fatigued legs up the stairs. Meanwhile, Bako tailed closely after her, glueing his vision on the female before him, a paranoid fear of losing her again, tugging at the back of his mind.

As they neared the last step of their ascend, (Y/n) felt her leg give out underneath her weight and saw the floor approaching at an unregistered speed. Just as she sensed her body would hit the hard wood, she blinked a number of times to divulge that her squandered body had been fortified. "(Y/n), please be careful!" The girl glanced back to see Bako's hands supporting her at the waist and reflexively shoved him away. The boy felt dejected by the action, while the girl responded with silence and a revolted shudder. "Please don't be like that, (Y/n)..." However, the female ignored his attempts at making amends and continued to walk away. "...A-anyway, your room is right here." The boy pointed to the assigned door that (Y/n) saw as her new prison and wordlessly opened it. "If you need anything, I'm just down-" before the boy had the opportunity to finish off his offer, the door was loudly shut, inches away from striking his face, "stairs..." Bako sighed at the girl's obdurate and churlish behaviour and turned to rejoin with the rest of the group.

(Y/n) collapsed to the floor in a heap, finally left alone to gather her breath and swirled thoughts. She felt very naked and cold around the familiar, yet alien surroundings. The room was, in fact, nicely furnished, just as Bako had said. With modern appliances such as a large TV, CD player and lamps positioned on the pair of night stands that are sided to a large bed covered in soft, golden sheets. She could feel the cushiony carpet beneath her was also of a good quality, causing an unintentional shiver from the crumpled girl. The female noticed an ivory door at the right side of the room, concluding it to be the 'private bathroom' that was mentioned to her.

'I can't believe I'm here again...after so much work, I end up in this damned place again...' (Y/n) hugged herself into a ball, curling up in the lent jacket she had come to own, trying to surround herself in the slightest bits of familiarity that could possibly give her peace in the intoxicating environment. 'They're always three steps ahead of me...what now?'
