Chapter 41: Another Day

(Y/n) incessantly stared at the ceiling as she listened to the light breathing of her friends' sleeping forms. The darkness seemed too quiet, eluding to a much more peaceful yet still stiff atmosphere. The girl continued to roll around her bed, not being able to find a comfortable enough position to get a proper rest. To make it worse, there was the certain prospect of communicating with the guys the next day so she truly had no peace to look forward to. 'How do I tell someone about them without coming off as a liar or involving my friends? If I tell someone, that might do something, but who knows what they'll do to people before that...I've really dug myself in deep shi-' the female's restless body jumped as the sound of vibrations bounced off the walls and (Y/n) flipped over to catch the phone before waking up the two girl's sleeping in the opposite bed. However, to the teenager's relief, her friends simply stirred in their unconscious forms and she inaudibly tip-toed towards the door in order to take the call in a more private place.

She quietly ran past the room that held the slumbering parents and found the ground floor to be of a better accommodation. After doing a quick check of her surroundings and making sure she was desolated, she put the call through. "Hello?" She whispered into the speakers, fearing any drastic change in pitch would wake the rest of the inhibitors. She was answered with an annoyed groan from the device.

"Took you long enough, stupid girl." He murmured the last part, giving good hints as to who it was.

"What do you want? It's 1 in the morning?" (Y/n) irritatingly responded, despite not being tired in the first place to act this aggravated.

"...I can't sleep..." The female glared at open space, unconvinced of his claim due to the tiredness in his voice. As if reading her thoughts, he huffed amusingly, "I might not sound it, but I seem to be experiencing some insomnia since Saturday." (Y/n) sat down on the comfy, warming sofa chair to prepare for his explanation, cringing slightly at the mention of the night she escaped. "Now, since I'm simply tired I might say some things that I'll deny ever speaking of at a later interval, so it's up to you whether you chose to remember or forget them. Do you understand?" The girl gulped slightly and hesitantly nodded her head. "If you're nodding your head right now and you think I can actually see it, you must be dumber than I thought." (Y/n) could hear the nuance of laughter in his voice and harrumphed at the comment. "Now give me a straight answer..." His voice changed back to a more neutral tone and patiently awaited for a response.

"Yes..." (Y/n) wasn't exactly sure what she was agreeing to. His wording seemed too inconspicuous that she wasn't sure what she should prepare herself for.

"Good...I'm guessing I'm the last person you wish to speak with at a time like this," the girl rolled her eyes, glad that he was not there to see the annoyed gesture, "but I can no longer restrain myself, I want to talk to you. You don't need to force yourself to talk back, I simply wish to hear you breathing to make sure you're there, listening to me." (Y/n) sighed, and leaned back into the chair, having the feeling this might be a long night. "I'm not quite sure how long it's been since I had a proper conversation with you, but seeing how I'm barely lucid at this moment I feel less reluctant to hold back on some things...hell, I'm not sure if I'll even remember tonight but I know it'll be a long while before I say this when I'm at a more clear track of thought so here it goes..." (Y/n) intently listened and drafted notes down in her head as reminders of how she could use them. "I want you as my own (Y/n). It sickens me to no end when I see people putting their hands on what's rightfully mine." The girl scoffed at the comment and shook her head in disapproval but was reluctant to answer. "I honestly could do so much right now to take you back, but I'll let you decide what should be done."

"Why the hell are you even giving me a choice in this? I thought that you worked on your own accord." The boy slightly grinned at her attentiveness from his end.

"Because I want to see you break." Silence. Everything seemed so quiet for that moment as the girl let his words sink deeply into her thoughts and memories. "I want you to come at your own free will. Because I know you would. You're too softhearted towards the people you love. So you'll be an obedient, little girl and come to me on your own. That would be just-"

"Shut up! I'm not going anywhere near you people again!" She pressed on the red dot to end the call and took the moment of peace to relax her worries.

BUZZ

The female glared towards the buzzing device and with begrudging irritation was inclined on answering it. "If you hang up on me again..." She was startled by the quiet, malevolent tone in the boy's voice and for a split second seemed convinced he was right there beside her, carefully tracing his words against her brain. "I will kill someone you care for." The girl's breath was intercepted by the hysteria from the male's words. (Y/n) was left speechless at the threat and struggled to differentiate between it being a bluff or a genuine jeopardy. "Do I have your attention? Good. As I was saying before, I'll be waiting for you on Friday."

The girl swallowed a large lump in her throat and dug her nails into the arm of the chair. "Is that all?"

"...No, as I said, I want to talk to you (Y/n). It's been three days since I last saw you. And by some reasoning, my brain seemed to persist on your presence." (Y/n) scrunched up her brow, trying to decipher what he was meaning by those words.

'Does he...miss me?'

"I hope you've kept yourself well. I don't trust that pair on looking after you."

"Why do you even care?" She expected some sort of snide remark or witty comeback from the boy, but was instead responded with silence.

"...Do you remember on the first week of us coming here I tripped you up after class?" (Y/n) rolled her eyes at the memory, reciting the events of that day in begrudging nuisance. "Then it wasn't long after that when we met again and I required your help. Despite your loathing attitude towards me, you were quite patient with my antics." The girl slightly scoffed as she recalled how she was finally able to get through to him and minimize his attitude. "I'm quite surprised you still offered me some unconditional kindness, even after that...I quite like that about you." She sighed and looked around to check if she was under surveillance by unseen eyes, and went back to refer to the boy.

"Kaito what do you want, I'm tired right now?"

There was a weak exhale from the other side, filled with impatience. "...Just listen to me while my mind is still exhausted...I don't care how the others fit into all this, my target is getting you." (Y/n) imagined the boy standing next to her, just for the soul purpose to have the opportunity to glare at him.

"You don't seem to value your friends too much, do you?"

"Look how that turned out for you." Huffing at the jocular comment, the female stood up at a proper sitting position in her seat, readying to leave. "I respect them, which is more than I can say for most people."

"Then where do I come in?" There was a long pause at the question from the boy, as well as hushed abiding from the girl.

"I find you...interesting. I'm not quite sure why you've caught my regard, but that's what I want to find out."

(Y/n) could feel her querulous mood scratching her consciousness urged herself to inquire for his reasoning."Why are you doing this?"

"Come on (Y/n). I'm very certain you have a good idea over why we've been doing all this." Kaito grinned to the non-present girl, conscious of how aware she was of their ideas.

"No. No one that cares for me would do something like this." The boy could notice a shakiness to her voice, knowing it was an indication of her belief in being betrayed.

"It's because I care for you that I'm willing you into rejoining us."

"I don't want you guys. I want my old life back and pretend that this never happened."

"If only it was that easy..." Another pause of stillness came subsequent to the response, before a light grunt emerged through the speakers. "I truly do care for you, (Y/n). I didn't want you to find out about this before..." The girl took note as he cut himself off and played on her curiosity.

"What?"

"Before you build affection for me." (Y/n) tempered out her disapproval. "Everything else became so little of a priority to me and I desperately hopped you would stay oblivious to what was happening."

"Kaito I'm going to ask you only once, as a friend. Please, just leave me alone and we can pretend this didn't even happen." The male noticed the genuine sincerity in her voice and contemplated over her wishes for a moment before shaking his head.

"Are you still going to spend time with us?" His response was given in the form of a blanc, soundless answer. "Didn't think so...haha, this is amusing. I feel like I'm going to actually sleep tonight. You wouldn't mind to simply talk about nothing while I tire, do you?"

"No."

"...Fait enough. I guess I'll just have to force myself to sleep by imagining you here." (Y/n) shivered at the image that came to mind and grimaced at his ideology. "Anyway...I guess it's time for me to go now." There was shuffling from both sides of the phone as either teenager prepared to go to their respective places of slumber. "You're a very pulchritudinous person, (Y/n). In many ways. Look up what that means, you might be pleasantly surprised. Goodnight." (Y/n) heard the indication that she was finally left to her own in the house again.

Wednesday, September 30th

"(Y/n), are you still sure you want to stay here without us-we can keep you company! I can make a fake note for my self-I've done it before!" Saki desperately clung to the doorframe as Lala attempted to haul her sister out of the house.

"W-We'll be back after school, (Y/n)! Saki let go!" The tomboy frantically shook her head at the proposal of continuing her education and looked towards her friend for aid. After a minute of yanking on Lala's side, the girl was wrenched away from the door and hauled down to the outside with the occasional scraping on the walls.

(Y/n) quietly giggled to herself and looked towards the window that lead beyond the house. A shudder emerged at the thought of leaving the comfort of the building and getting snatched up away by her obsessors.

Time Skip

The female found slight motivation in distracting herself by watching TV, which was successful in temporarily taking her mind off of her problems and letting her enjoy some extent alone. That was until she heard the sound of the doorbell ringing, interrupting her course of peace. She silenced her breathing, afraid of making any type of sound and quietly crept up to the front door and peaked through the peephole. Expecting to fearfully see a familiar face, she was surprised to look into the eyes of a complete stranger.

The girl reprehensible opened the door to see a man standing on the doorway with a bright smile and a gleeful voice. "Hello, are you (Y/n) by any chance?" The girl in question hesitantly nodded her head and noticed something large hiding behind the older man. "Wonderful! This is to you from a secret admirer." The male stepped aside to reveal a bountiful basket, much like the one she was given the previous day, but a remarkably larger size, spanning almost the man's height.

(Y/n) stared at the contents and nearly choked on her breath as she attempted to fully process the scene. "W-What...?" The happy male gave her a last nod of the head and headed towards the van that was parked just a few meters away. "W-Wait!" The worker stopped in his tracks and turned back to the amazed girl. "C-Could you tell me who this is from?" A slight look of awkwardness crossed the male's face at the question.

"My apologies ma'am, but this delivery was made by an anonymous customer." (Y/n) slumped, disappointed that she couldn't be able to use this as some sort of evidence to build against the boys.

"Oh..." Just as the deliverer was about to leave, he was called back by the female once again. "Could you please do me a favor and not deliver here anymore?" The man seemed slightly taken aback by the sudden request but after a second of thinking, he gave her an understanding grin.

"I'll see what I can do Miss. Have a nice day." After she had returned the friendly gesture, (Y/n) took the basket with great difficulty and hauled it towards the trash cans. Seeing how it wouldn't fit into them, she left the presents outside to be disposed of and quickly ran in. She securely locked the door and returned to the warmth of the couch to only walk onto the hated phone ringing.

After huffing out her displeasure, she grabbed the device and was insisted on answering it, leading to her flinching slightly as the happy voice of the boy rang out after she accepted the call. "Hhhhiii! How's my angel doing? Did you receive anything today?" He giddily chuckled while (Y/n) held in her irritation.

"I told you to stop sending me these things. I don't want them."

"Aaww but I thought the house would look so good decorated in those cute stuffed toys. In rooms, in kitchens, on tables. Heck, they might even freshen up the bathrooms." (Y/n) felt an unethical shiver at the options and unexplainably felt sickened at the idea of seeing the fluffy creatures all over the place. "I wish I could have a fluffy toy of you. Then I would hug it, and cherish it and keep it close as much as much as I want~"

"Stop it! I don't want to hear this. I just want to continue my day without having to hear you guys." There was a childish, frustrated sigh from the boy, which was soon followed by amused chuckles.

"You know, I had a dream about you last night. Never really had one like this, but I quite enjoyed it really." (Y/n) gulped at the comment. "You were so warm against me, my angel. It felt so good to feel you so close."

"R-Ryo don't-"

"Even your gentle skin was amazing. It felt so real to run my hands against you." (Y/n) could feel involuntary shudders spreading through her as she could sense those imaginary hands doing the same.

"Ryo stop!"

"Your lips were so soft, I wonder if it's like that in real life."

"Ryo shut up, please!"

"And you made the cutest noises-" (Y/n) quickly hung up on the boy, desperately trying to erase the male's words and the images created in her mind.

She started to hyperventilate, frantically forcing any oxygen into her body as a means of regaining her clearmindedness. 'This isn't happening, this isn't happening, this isn't happening...' She continued to repeat the phrase in her head like a chant of hope but its effects soon started to overstay their welcome, and she returned to her crushed form. 'I hate this...I hate this so much!' The girl tugged on her hair, to try and replace the fear with pain but it simply made her condition worse with both forms of harm acting against her. 'I'm going insane...this is going to ruin me...' Tears started forming in her exhausted eyes and with each swallow, a hole was created in her lungs. 'I can't continue like this...' Her lip trembled and her eyes began welling up until she shoved her fist down on the table with a loud crack as an unseen part of the wood compressed under the sudden pressure, and her mind seemed to clear through the fog like a trigger. 'No...they don't deserve my tears. I won't give them the pleasure of my hopeless state. I can't let this get to me...' She began to take calming breaths until she was assured her pattern of oxygen was steady and her nerves were slightly settled. She swallowed the lump in her throat and stood up on her feet. 'I can't just give up without a struggle.'
