Chapter 39: To Hide
"That could have gone better." Ryo roughly opened the fridge door and emerged with a chilled can of a light beverage.
"Don't drink that, you'll get hooked again." Kaito scolded his friend, though made no attempt at stopping him. He ignored the teal-eyed boy's warning and proceeded to drink from the can.
"We can't just keep her here, people will start looking for her." Bako had been nervously tapping his foot against his chair, trying to keep the small bit of composure left in him.
"Calm down, I'll make sure she stays quiet and obedient about this. She values her friendships too much to test our skills. And for good reason." The males each directed their gazes towards the intellectual. "She's not going to risk it."
(Y/n) scanned the entire room for any sign of escape, but depressingly slumped after no indications of a way out. The only thing coming close to reuniting with the outside world were the two windows in the room, though after closer inspection, the height of the second floor seemed to risky, especially when there was conreat at the bottom of the drop. She began hitting the back of her head against the wall in hopes of knocking some ideas around, but stopped her attempts when she heard the door unlocking. She expected to see the group of males that were holding her against her will, but only Kaito entered the room. "How are you getting accustomed?" The female had to restrain herself from punching the smugly smirking male's face.
But she opted on ignoring his comment and rejecting his presence. The lacking reaction caused the boy to inwardly growl and tusk at her stubborn behaviour. (Y/n) was surprised when she saw the boy tossing a rectangular device her way and she reflexively caught it. After a quick glance at the object, the girl realised she was now holding a working mobile phone in her hand. For the first few seconds she darted her puzzled glances from the phone to the grinning boy, confused at what he was proposing. "What...?"
"Go on. Call someone." For a moment, the girl dared not speak and simply took in the daring command insisted upon her. She suspiciously flicked her attention from the device to her captive once again, and brought her brows together in a confused expression. Kaito saw this bit of hesitance and decided upon playing with the dumbfounded girl. "What's wrong? You want to get out right? And we're certainly not going to let that happen for a while. Why don't you call for some assistance?"
(Y/n) felt a gut wrenching sensation at his provoking questions and for a moment considered taking his underhanded advice until dubiety took over. "Why did you give me this?"
Kaito innocently shrugged at the question, acting as though it were a mundane action. "I just want to see the expression on your face when you don't get the outcome you so desperately desired." This left the female with further inquires and gave him a stern look of annoyance and disturbance. "Let me just ask you this. If you were to call the police, how do you think it's going to go down?"
(Y/n) tried to scrutinise the undertone of his inference, "I'll tell them that you kept me here against my will. And about the things that you did to me and my friends." Despite her assurance with her answer, there was an instinctual feeling crawling under her skin, indicating that retort was incorrect.
The boy chuckled at her predictable answer and took a step closer, asserting his dominance of the situation. "Then let me give you this scenario: A girl that had calm access to contact the police calls up and states that she is being held captive. They arrive at the scene and they find a respectable group of wealthy and well-educated young men minding their own business with a panicked girl claiming quite peculiar things -which, by the way, has no proof of.-" When Kaito began to see the burning hope that the female previously had diminishing, a smirk spread to his lips. "You know, there are more perks of being well respected and higher classed than just 'being rich.' Then let me face you with another issue. Do you think the police would truly hold weight to the words of an average, teenage, unimportant girl such as yourself? Especially when you have no concrete evidence that we had done anything. For all they know, you could be claiming fabrications for attention or just to gain some sort of compromise from us." (Y/n) lowered the phone to her side and began to shake uncontrollably at his confident words. The boy took this chance to lean close to her face and examine the defeated expression on the poor female, "This is a small town (Y/n). There is surely quite the bias system over prioritising people like us over a commoner like you."
Kaito out of all people understood how the transition between an ordinary individual into gaining a title of higher significance was. And (Y/n) knew this, causing her doubts to inflate and validate the words of her captor. "I-I still need to try..."
The ruby haired boy began grinning uncontrollably at the naiveté of the female. "Alright. Go ahead. Though, in reality only one out of a few minor things could possibly occur; you'll get charged with the misuse of the authorities which could lead to a fine. And the worst that could happen to us is be given a warning."
"That enough for me. As long as I get out of this place and you stay away from me, I don't care if I get a damn fine." (Y/n) lifted the phone back up and started to use it before she changed her mind. She then stopped, noticing the chuckling motions Kaito was making, sending her blood over the boiling point. "What's so funny?" This sent the male's slight, inward giggles into a full on laugh.
"Hahaha, you think just because we leave you alone for a while it won't affect anyone?" The girl tightly clenched the mobile in her hand and restrained from throwing the object at the boy's head. She quickly sucked in a small amount of breath as Kaito approached her closer, still holding onto the sly grin. "I don't think you truly understand. When we can't be with our darling (Y/n), then we have no choice but avert our 'interest' towards someone else." (Y/n) gulped and tried to deny the inferred threat. "I've always wondered how enduring Kanzan was. I guess to truly know something you need to test it. Right?" The girl could feel her anger sliding against her mind with the presence of worry for her best friend.
"Don't you dare touch him!"
"Oh don't worry, he won't be the only one involved in our entertainment. That senior and her friend won't be far behind in this. And that gullible girl from the restaurant will believe anything if it comes out of Jin. And then there's those twins..." He seemed deep in thought, sneeringly scrutinising the female's fears.
"You wouldn't..." (Y/n)'s hands began to shake as her grip on the only hope of her escape began loosening.
"Do you really want to test that?" Kaito triumphantly smirked as the girl's body quivered and her mind filled with doubts and fear. She had no motivation on taking his threats as bluffs. The female lowered her head to hide her tearing up eyes, and remain strong. "Crying never suited you (Y/n). Consider this as a privilege. You no longer have to worry about anything or anyone else anymore." The boy placed his hand to rest on the girl's cheek and brought her attention back to him. "We're going to have so much fun together." He began advancing towards his captive as the boy brought his features closer to the female's face. 'I can finally have you without limiting my actions.' He got close enough to feel the girl's unsteady breath and soothingly glided his fingers across her cheek.
"Go to hell..." Kaito grumbled at the comment and pulled away.
"We'll work on that attitude." He began making strides towards leaving the room until (Y/n) caught his attention again.
"What do I do here?"
"Make yourself comfortable for the night. I'm sure Bako wouldn't mind spearing his bedroom for you." With that, he left the girl to her lonesome to contemplate over her actions and choices.
She knew that by contacting someone it would endanger the well-being of her friends, but that was also her only left choice. With no other possible option, she stared intently at the phone to rethink her chances. "Damn you...damn you." She shakily kneeled down until she was at a sitting position on the floor and and curled herself up in a ball. The girl locked towards the comfy bed and grimaced at the thought of sleeping in it. She stubbornly refused to lay in the thing due to the betrayal of its previous occupant and settled for the floor.
At around midnight, she found herself drifting off at each interval of time until her tiredness clouded her mind and forced her under a long-awaited slumber.

There was warmth. A pleasant feeling of warmth engulfing her body and in her sleeping state, it almost seemed like a part of an uplifting dream until her physical form began shifting and stirring her from her exhaustion. As (Y/n)'s eyelids trembled at her attempts of opening them, she stared into the darkness and assumed there was nothing of inhabitance until her vision adjusted to the bleak nothingness to spot a figure looming unpleasantly close to her. "What-?"
Her mouth got covered by a hand as she saw the person bringing a finger to his lips as an indication of silence. "Keep it down, I'm not actually supposed to be here." The voice was recognised to belong to the lapis haired owner of the room.
"Bako...?" The revelation caused a massive clearing of the girl's head and allowed her to feel the stroking motion performed on her cheek, causing her to reflexively jump back. Bako narrowed his eyes at the action and proceeded to approach her reprehensible form. "Stay away. Don't touch me!" The boy cover her mouth again, to avoid more sound emerging but then began struggling against her panicking state.
As (Y/n) began to get more and more restricted, her straining became deplorable. After a minute of writhing, the girl progressively began to simmer after convincing herself that she was in no harm. When Bako was assured that the female was not going to make any attempts at escaping, he loosened his hold and exhaled with relief. After assuring that the girl was in a calm enough state, he removed his hand to let her speak freely. "Sorry if I scared you."
"What are you doing here?" She dubiously eyed the boy, cautious as to what business he had.
"What, I can't come into my own room?" The boy chuckled while (Y/n) proceeded to stare at him. Her guards were up and alert, she dared not take her eyes off the danger in from of her. "You look so afraid. Do you think I'm going to hurt you?" (Y/n) gave no response to his question, letting the silence communicate for her.
"What are you doing here?" She repeated herself, leaving the boy disappointed at her apprehensiveness.
"...Can't I come and see you-?"
"No." Her flat reply left the male to huff out his frustration.
"I wanted to check if you needed something."
"Well I don't, now just leave." (Y/n) shifted further apart from the boy and turned her body away in an attempt to ignore him. But after a few moments of his presence still lingering in the room she turned to glare at him. "I said leave."
"Why? It's my room, I can stay here for as long as I want." Just as he moved closer to the curled up female, she jumped back and readied to stand up.
"ThenI'm going." However, instead of proceeding with her claim, she was restrained back by the strong boy.
"Sorry, but you need to stay here. Kaito said so." Bako clasped onto her arms, and restrained her.
"Since when did you take orders from Kaito?"
"Since you're finally one step closer to us." He pulled the girl back down and proceeded to lean his head against her chest.
"Let me go!" (Y/n) continued to wriggled under his weight and made desperate endeavours to free her hands from his grasp.
"No. I want to keep you warm." In deviation to the girl's distressed state, the boy relaxed against her, feeling at ease at the sound of the female's panicked heartbeat.
"I'm warm enough, just leave me alone!" The female's wriggling became frantic but did not seem to affect Bako in the slightest and he kept his head in place.
"I want this."
"W-What?" (Y/n) slowly eased her struggles and stared down at the person that was using her as a pillow.
"I want this." Bako pushed his cranium further into the girl's chest and closed his eyes as he carefully listened to the rhythm of the beting muscle. "This heart...I want to have it all to myself...it's beating so fast. Are you scared?" He gave the girl a serious look while she restarted her labours in fighting.
"Bako, leave me alone! Go away." However, instead of complying with her wishes, the boy moved up towards her face, causing a new wave of dread to cascade the girl's instincts. Her lip began trembling as he was an inch away and her body froze at the realisation. Bako insouciantly touched the unmoving girl's forehead with his own and took a moment to indulge in the affectionate closeness as (Y/n) trembled at the adjacent action. "W-what are you doing?! Get away!"
The cobalt male tightly grasped onto both the girl's wrists with one hand and brought his free one to stroke the female's cheek, admiring every touch to her skin, sensing the soft texture and warmth she emitted. He persisted with the action despite the visible discomfort from the girl. "You're so beautiful. The best artist in the world could do you no justice if he spent years painting your portrait." He ran his digits across each groove and accentuation on her face, casing revolting shivers to be followed with each touch, as the girl tried pulling away. "I tried so hard to draw you. To creat a duplicate of the masterpiece you are. But now that I have the original, I don't need to try. I can just keep you like my own special treasure." The boy leaned further in until his nose was directly contacting her own. "You'll let me, right?" Bako felt a horrendous shot of pain as he received a kick to his gut, forcing him to reel back and clutch his stomach.
(Y/n) took the chance to jump up and head for the unlocked door. As she shoved through she heard a sharp curse coming out of the boy, and ran towards the stairs, not caring how much noise she made. Leaping past tree steps at a time, she could hear a disturbance on the second floor, indicating her captors presence. (Y/n) quickly unlocked the door until her way was blocked once again by the gate.
'Damn it! What now?' The teenager heard voices originating from the house. Knowing she had no time for long contemplation, the girl used the rush of energy to circle around the back of the residence to find an escape route through the garden. However, she came to a halt as the memory of the dog inhabiting that are came to mind. After silently exhaling, the sound of a door being violently pushed, echoed through the night. 'I'm trapped...'
The female leaned against a rough surface, letting the cold, autumn air brush past her face, erasing any sensation on the finger tips that had touched her just moments ago. After the events that occurred just hours before, the unordinary feeling of serenity never felt so calming. As all hope seemed lost for her, she hit the wall behind her to capitulate her defeat, when a new advantage was given as she realised what she was resting against. The texture of bark brought back determination as the female stared up towards the small tree, branching out over the wall. 'Let's hope I still know how to climb these things.' After securing her foot against an indent in the wood, (Y/n) pulled herself towards the extending branches and wasted no time in climbing up towards the top to securely reach the edge of the wall. She ignored the cuts and bruises that came along with the scraping of the rough sticks and branches. Just as she heard steps approaching, she took a leap of faith, tumbling over the wall, landing roughly on her back. The impact cause her breath to collapse and for a moment, it seemed like she would suffocate due to the inability to take in any more oxygen. But she knew there was no time for hesitations so she forced herself to ignore the bleeding wounds and the lack of respiration, and get up to run away from the area.
A few minutes into her escape, the paranoia of getting caught still hadn't eased away. (Y/n) knew she couldn't run forever and going back to her house was the most obvious choice and would be found easily. 'What if I just call the police...no, if that happens then they'll start picking out my friends...I need to completely disappear for now.' However, there were little options to where she could go and her fatigue was getting the better of her. In desperation to abjure from getting caught again, she ran past her house, heading towards a hopeful shelter.

"God damn everything, who's even awake in 1 o'clock in the morning? I swear..." Lala irritatedly grumbled to herself and sleepily walked up to her front door and rubbed her eyes to rid the sleep out of them. "Who is it?" She called out for the person's answer in an aggravated manner and waited for an answer. There was silence for the first few seconds and she was about to go back to bed, concluding this to be some sort of prank when the person on the other side finally responded.
"It's me..." The sound startled the blond and it almost seemed to be hallucinated as the familiarity of the voice seeped in. Lala reluctantly opened the door and her eyes widened at the sight of her scrapped and messed up friend standing at her doorway with tears in her eyes.
"Oh my God, (Y/n) what the hell happened?!" But her reply was given in a fearful hug as the wounded female embraced the other girl in an show of longing. Lala was taken aback by the action but soon returned the gesture and wrapped one hand around the female's disarrayed hair. The lime eyed girl looked at her weeping friend in sympathy, every single grudging feeling she previously had, melting away with the girl's tears, and soothingly "There, there. Come on, what happened?"
"(Y/n)?" The two girls looked back inside the house to see Saki at the foot of the stairs, staring at the scene in front of her. The two sisters locked eyes for an instant and a moment of mutual understanding passed through their subconscious as they looked back at their shaken friend.
"Saki, bring (Y/n) back upstairs. I'll be right there." The tomboy nodded and ran up to the injured girl and supported her as they walked up to her room.
Lala came into her room with a cup of a hot drink and a medical kit in her hands. She saw (Y/n) was siting on her bed, leaning against her sister like a comforting pillow. The girl approached the pair and kindly smiled down at the distressed female as she gave her the cup of hot chocolate. "Here, drink that while I check on those nasty cuts and bruises." (Y/n) complied and gave a small, grateful smile.
The girl checked on her open wounds and cleaned up the blood in awkward silence, none of the females saying a thing to each other and just letting the nothingness settle.
After a click was heard from the aid kit, Lala set it down to glance at her patched up friend. "You've got some explaining to do."

"I can't believe this..." Lala rested her head in her hand, still comprehending the new, unexpected information she was given from her friend. "And you think they're after you now?" (Y/n) nodded in response, making the twins sigh.
"Damn (Y/n), didn't expect this when you came to our house in the middle of the night, looking like you just went through hell." Though, in technicality the girl did go through hell. She had never expected the events to turn out like this, and now that things have changed, it seemed like nothing would be the same.
"I can't believe it, how could Alex turn out this villainous..." Lala distressfully hung her head, seemingly in great disappointment.
"Lala!" Saki hissed at her sister in a scolding manner.
"S-sorry...anyway, why don't you call the police or something." (Y/n) frantically shook her head at the scenario.
"They won't believe me...I have no real proof and they'll just end up giving the guys a warning. If I try to get some help, they'll go after you guys...right now I need to just lay low and hide out." The two sisters disapprovingly glared at their friend.
"Then what exactly are you gonna do? You can't hide out forever."
"I'll wait until my parents come home. They'll know what to do, I'm just too confused right now and can't afford to make any rash decision when they have such an advantage over me..." The girl curled up in a ball and hugged her knees, trying to clear her mind in the calmer surroundings.
The two sisters glanced at each other and a moment of clarity came at them as they nodded their heads in agreement. "Then you can stay here." (Y/n) looked at the girls as if they had spoken out in a different language.
"No! If they find me here, who knows what they'll do to you." Saki quickly covered her friend's mouth and innocently chuckled.
"Nope, we made a decision. You'll say here until your parents come home and sort this whole mess out." But the girl still shook her head in denial of the idea and freed her mouth to speak.
"No, they'll come here next. I need to go." However, the two females held onto the girl before she could stand up and ignored her words of warning.
"They still think we're angry at you, this will buy us some time so just lay low here." But the unassured girl still confined to reject Saki's offer. "(Y/n), if something happened the blame would be on us, since we are making you stay."
"They'll find out, and when they do-"
"We'll pretend like we're angry at each other in school, they won't suspect a thing. Plus, here they won't try anything. The house is always under surveillance." Lala positively smiled at her friend to bring some reassurance.
"I can't..."
"Yep, you can. Come on, drink your hot chocolate before it gets cold." Saki patted the female on the shoulder and got up to walk to her own bed, as relaxation and sleep began taking over.
"Girls...I'm sorry. I'm sorry for bringing my problems onto you and for...for not realising that you were having trouble between each other...I truly don't know how I can repay you after all of this." The pair looked at one another and dismissively sighed.
"No, we absolutely crossed the line with involving you in our troubles, and then getting angry at you for doing nothing. We should be the ones saying sorry." The three females glanced at each other and smiled happily amongst the worries.
(Y/n) made herself comfortable in Lala's bed while the girl took the liberty of sleeping with her sister and sparing the entire mattress for their guest. Now that (Y/n) was amongst a safer environment, it almost seemed like none of the horrible things ever happened. They resembled a distant memory under the warmth of the covers and she hoped soon, that would be the case. (Y/n) could only stare at the ceiling as no sleep took over.
