Chapter 26: The Tour

"Well, (Y/n). You're our guide so give us some suggestions?" Ren and others waited patiently as the girl entered her memory and thought about what might suit each one of their interests.

"I have a few places in mind, but I'm not sure if we'll have time to visit each one," She checked the position of the sun in the grey sky, "and it gets darker early this time of year so it might cause some problems."

"We'll go wherever you want (Y/n)." Bako reassured the girl and she thought for a second.

'We'll be able to visit maximum 3 places if we want to get home before dark...I guess I'm just going to have to cater to two of them at the same time.' She looked at each one of them, attempting to find common ground with one another. 'Ok, Ryo and Jin will definitely be up for the local theatre that just opened, and thankfully they will be playing horror or mystery based plays to get people in the Halloween mood, so that might work out... Ren and Bako seem interested in fine arts, which means the place for them might be the art museum in the central hotspot. From what I can remember, they had a section of painting & art and another for classical and folk music.' She then looked at the remaining two boys and found nothing connecting them and considered revising her plan until she spotted Oberon. 'That's it! Kaito needed to take his dog to the vet and Alex probably will enjoy it as well! Hhhmm, I don't think Kaito will really be too fond of the whole experience but I'll just have to make it up to him another time.' She turned her whole body to face each of the guys simultaneously. "Alright, I've got plans but we need to split up for that to happen."

The boys immediately object to the idea in their minds, understanding that, that meant the girl was most likely not going to join the majority of the group. As she explained her plans to them, the three pairs subconsciously teamed up with their partner to win over (Y/n) to their side.

"And then we'll meet back here in three hours." She concluded her indications through pointing and looked back at the determined boys. "And I'll just have to find something to do while you guys go and just enjoy yourselves." She gave them happy smile and was about to signal the splitting up by her departure.

"Hold on! Want to come and watch the show with us. Should be fun!" Ryo snatched the girl's wrist and proceeded to shuffle her towards their assigned direction when she was then pulled by the other arm.

"Now wait, maybe (Y/n) would prefer something more soothing than a dumb, 3-hour long play. She can come and look around the museum with me and Ren." Bako tugged her from the other side. As (Y/n) was left being piggy-in-the-middle, she felt a pair of hand grasp her shoulders.

"(Y/n)? You wouldn't want to see Oberon in distress or ill right? So why not join me and Alex to the vet, my dog has taken quite the liking to you and am sure he'll behave well if you're there." Kaito smirked behind the cornered girl.

'Definitely one of the most interesting weeks of my life.' (Y/n) stood still while bing tugged from either side and mentally blocked out the debating, counter-arguing and rebutting that was exchanged between the males. After 5 minutes of the ongoing verbal assaults from either side, (Y/n) finally felt her arms and shoulders on the brink of dislocating so she had to do the only thing she knew that would silence the boys. "SHUT UP! Can you just let me go before you rip something?!" The males that recently had a hold on the girl instinctively let go and backed away to give her breathing space. "Thank you...! I'll...go with all of you if it will satisfy and end this argument." The 6 boys looked at each other, in befuddlement at the girl's intentions. "We have 3 hours right? So I'll spend one hour with each of the groups and will still meet up on this spot after we spent up our sight-seeing. I'm not going to hear any more arguments from you because I've made up my mind." She exhaled to relieve her tense mind and considered what the order of her accompaniment will be. "Ok, first I'll go with Kaito and Alex to the Vet and after that, I'll take them to the Animal Play-Pen so I can leave them there. Then I'll go to the art gallery where I'll meet up with you two and we can look around and browse the displays. After an hour of that, I'll go to catch up on the last hour of the theatrical play. Does that sound good?" Despite the signs of irritation and disagreement, the boys nodded their heads. (Y/n) felt like she was acting like some sort of big sister, scheduling when to pick up her brothers from school and assign them to their respective clubs. "Alright, you guys go ahead and I'll see you later." She walked up to Kaito and Alex who were waiting for her with satisfying grins that mocked the other males on their lost fortune.

"Personally, I couldn't care less if you chose to go with us." Kaito passively told the girl, attempting to mask the actual eagerness that came with her accompaniment. However, (Y/n) wasn't going to play that game and decided to mess around with her own rules.

"Oh, then I guess I can go and see how Bako and Ren are doing. I never did get to see that new display on Anne Frank-" she felt her coat drastically get tugged as she turned around to leave.

"NO-! I mean...damn it..." Kaito couldn't get his brain to match the speed of his mouth, and ended up showing the obviousness of his actual desire for her companionship. "You promised us so you need to keep it. You asked how you can pay that bill in the restaurant, well here's a golden opportunity." He tried to save his stammer as best as he could but wasn't the quality he had hoped for.

(Y/n) burst out snickering at the boy's macho act and patted him on the arm, "Alright dude, come on. Let's take this handsome fella to get checked up." She leant down to speak to the large dog who wagged his tail at her attention.

When they arrived at the Veterinarian, (Y/n) booked a place for Oberon and went back to sit with the boys in the waiting room where only 3 more people waited to get their pets treated. "So what did they say?"

"Well, the receptionist said that the doctor will see us in 5-10 mintes so shouldn't be long now." (Y/n) noticed the distant expression on the silent member of the group. "Alex, you ok there?" He turned to her and pointed at a fluffy, white dog across from them. It's fur neatly trimmed enough not to look messy, but still contain a certain look of softness. The dog directed it's big, obsidian eyes towards the boy and stuck it's tiny tongue out to only eventuate its charm. (Y/n) found the dog absolutely cute and understood why Alex seemed so drawn to it. But then he continued to fidget and play with his fingers while the dog's curly tailed wagged from side to side. "Do you...want to pet it?" Despite not giving an upfront answer, the boy shrug his shoulders which was good enough for (Y/n). "I'm sure if we ask that lady nicely, she'll let you pet it." Alex breathed out through his nose and leant back in the chair.

Realising he wasn't going to take the chance, (Y/n) stood up and took the boy's arm to pull him out of the chair and march up to an elderly woman who was the proud owner of the snowy dog. She looked up at the two teenagers from the crossword she was doing and smiled confusingly at them. "Excuse me ma'am, but can my friend here take a look at your dog, he really likes her." The older woman nodded and went back to focusing on doing her crossword. (Y/n) gestured for the boy to do as he pleases and went back to sit with the other male. Alex propped himself on his knees and let the dog sniff his hand and welcomingly push its snout against his palm.

When (Y/n) had arrived back at her own seat, Kaito continued to stare at her with an analysing look, "What?"

"Nothing it's just...I can't seem to figure you out." The (h/c) haired girl raised an eyebrow at the boy to question his statement. "It's nothing, just me thinking out loud." (Y/n) proceeded to watch the animal-lover as he played around with the happy looking dog.

"So what's his deal? He's such a mystery to me that I can barely understand what he's thinking half the time." (Y/n) averted her attention back to Kaito in order to get more information on the silent male.

"Alex...has always been sort of an enigma amongst the group. We've all sort of made theories about him throughout the years -mine, of course, being the most coherent one- but I digress.

From what I can remember, Alex had always been a sheltered boy and the only real human contact he actually had were his parents and the staff in his home. If I recall correctly, he used to play around with the stray cats and dogs that would occasionally roam around the compound but never told his parents about it.

I believe that he did come to move here once in a while."

"You mean in our town? Like here-here?" Kaito stuck up his index finger to show he was meant to continue, and the girl settled down.

"Yes, actually the house we currently live in belongs to him, and that used to be where he would live during some of the months of his childhood. This is just what I've heard and observed.

But my theory is that Alex doesn't really know how to properly communicate with other people. So that's why he settles for the company of animals rather than people. But that's just my second sense on it." Kaito concluded his analysis by leaning back in his chair and closing his eyes to rest. This left the girl to think about what he had just said and stared at the silent boy.

'Is Alex really that traumatised...? Would he be like this if his parents allowed him to be around other kids?' She watched the boy in sympathy, thinking how lonely his childhood must have been for him. 'I guess it shows money can't really make a person truly happy...'

"Don't pity him, he used to be much worse than this the first time he joined our group." Kaito leant forward again and turned his attention onto the girl. "He was around 12 or 13 when he first was introduced to us and he couldn't make a single reaction for the life of him. We would be nice to him and he would just stare, we would crack jokes and he would just stare, I would insult him and he would just stare. He was like the shadow no one really noticed. It was only when I introduced him to Oberon did he really start to come out of his shell." Kaito sighed heavily at the memory.

"But that's pretty much what he does now." (Y/n) couldn't believe he was more introverted than he currently was.

"Take my word for it, he's doing much better now." The receptionist entered the waiting room and looked around to pinpoint the teenagers. She pointed at the two and curled her index finger in a beaconing motion. Kaito and (Y/n) stood up, understanding it was their turn and called for Alex who was still petting the fluffy pet.

The moment they all entered the Vet's office, Oberon began squirming away and showing great defiance. But after the support of all three students, he begrudgingly rested on the examining table.

"Alright guys, next stop is the Animal Play-Pen and then I'll go meet up with Bako and Ren." She led the way but the two boys lingered behind her, filled with disappointment over the inevitable departure of the female.

The Animal Play Pen was a project that the community had designed where people and their pets can perform a variety of activities and learn more about being a good owner and catering to their animal's needs as well as developing a healthy and close relationship with the creature. It was located in a giant building with the main hall that stretched out to the size of an auditorium and contained equipment for different animals. (Y/n) figured this would be right up Alex's alley and Kaito hopefully wouldn't mind spending the rest of the remaining time in a place such as that.

However, despite her optimistic expectations, the boy seemed uninterested in the whole thing while Alex held an aura of ecstasy around him to the point it almost showed on the outside. After the male had run off with Oberon to check around the big hall and the snack bar for pets, (Y/n) pulled the flame-haired male back and looked at him apologetically. "Sorry, I know this isn't your taste but it's two against one."

"Two against one?" He repeated her words and looked back at the other half of the group, "I see, you mean Alex and Oberon...then I can clearly take a hint at where I stand in ranking of importance."

The girl worriedly turned to the boy, her plan to please the masses and not restrict herself to the individual, showing some flaws working against her, "I'm really sorry, but you're not less important than them both. But on the bright side, at least, I'll reward you for your tolerance and your good behaviour next time." She smiled at the boy, making him wonder what her plans were for the future.

He gave a low chuckle and looked at the girl with amusement, "Alright, I'll make sure you keep to your word (Y/n)." The female nodded her head and took off to her next checkpoint. Even after the girl was long gone, Kaito continued to stare at the direction that she was last seen at and heavily exhaled, "How easy it is to manipulate you...you stupid girl. Let's see how long I can play with you before you catch on."

(Y/n) finally ended up at the entrance of the museum, wondering where she might find the pair of boys that inhabited it. As she entered the great building, the girl had a large sense of isolation as the only sounds that could be heard from the scenery around her were the soft murmurs of the people that had come to visit the mini-landmark. (Y/n) held her guard high since the eery sensation that the clicking of her footsteps and the sound of her shallow breathing brought about. Everything seemed too clean and untouchable, however, the atmosphere seemed to completely change from the previous, silent displays and statues into a more upbeat and friendly chatter, as she entered a different sector of the building. She wound up in a gallery dedicated on the 18th century, with little devices and gears to demonstrated the workings on some of the past technology and interactive learning for the crowd.

"How am I going to find them in a place like this? It's practically a maze if you don't know where to look." After a 10 minute walk around the perimeter and catching a few glimpses of the Egyptian and Greek exhibits, she lost all hope of encountering her two partners.

Just as she was about to turn around, she noticed a Guiding Board that showed where she currently was. (Y/n) looked for any art zones on the map and found the area she was supposed to be headed to.

When she had arrived, the art gallery was filled with people, quietly exchanging pieces of dialogue and discussing what was put on display, but (Y/n) didn't see any signs of the males. She decided to try her luck in the music display next.

As she approached the area, a very familiar tune began blanketing her ears and soothingly glided her feet to move towards the lament as if under a spell. The lullaby seemed to weave itself in every fiber of the walls around and as she was drawn close to the enchanting chords, she snapped out of her trance and spotted a small crowd gathered around one point of the room. (Y/n) approached the formed circle, enclosed by the people and somehow managed to squeeze her way through the small gaps between. When she had reached the other side of the wall of bodies, she realised who it was that was bringing the delicate tune.

Ren masterfully glided and altered through each key, combining his hands and multitasking them to different rhythms to create a combination that was soothing to the ear. He knew when to speed up and slow his pace to create tension and emotion between each chord and despite the tender age of 18, he showed skill of the highest caliber to his piano work.

As the performance came to an end, the crowd erupted with cheers and applause at the young boy's graceful composition, and even a few of the younger girls were sending him flirtatious glances and winks. While this was happening, (Y/n) unintentionally began grinning like a fool, feeling a certain type of pride towards her talented friend and began feeling happy for him.

Once the crowd was more settled and people were staring to distract themselves with the rest of the displays. (Y/n) walked up behind the male and made sure he hadn't noticed her. "You're quite modest with your work."

"Thank you, but there's plenty of room to improve-" Ren turned around to face his admirer and confronted his female friend. "(Y/n)! I'm so glad you're finally here." He stood up from seat in front of the piano and gave the girl a quick embrace. "Did you hear me play?"

"Yes and, as always you were astounding." The boy smiled at her, delighted to find out that the girl had heard his work and seemed pleased with his music.

"Thank you, (Y/n)." Out of all the compliments and praised he received from the audience and strangers, the girl's tribute seemed to hold twice the weight of all the people's admiration, combined. Her recognition and proud grin made the world stop and he made sure to enjoy every moment of it before it was broken by another presence.

"Glad you can finally join us, (Y/n)." Bako emerged from the dispersing crowd and walked over to his two partners. "Come on! There are a few paintings I wanna show you, I think you'll like them!"

During the tour, (Y/n) quite enjoyed her time spent in the museum. Bako and her got to occasionally make fun of a few, overrated and overpriced pieces that contained virtually nothing on the canvas. With Ren, she gained knowledge on the art of music and it's evolution through history. She was surprised how well-informed the dark haired boy was with his passion, he almost came off as someone who could work as a member of staff, and Bako seemed to be tracking on the same line with the works of art decorating the walls.

(Y/n) happily walked out of the building with a spring in her steps. She was followed by the two boys who, up till now, also were in high spirits. But they shuffled out of the large doors and longingly stared after the skipping girl. "Thanks you guys on the quick lectures on arts. I hope you have more fun, see you in an hour!" She waved goodbye to them, showing her designated time with this group was now over and had to move on to the last two males.

When the girl had disappeared into her new journey, the two boys turn to regard each other, "I'm guessing you don't have any ideas on how we can keep her with us." Ren sarcastically gave a sad smile.

Bako remained silent for a few seconds, "Maybe not...but I know how we can still get her to commemorate her time spent with us." He grinned at his friend, who seemed intrigued over what Bako was hinting at.

(Y/n) had stood in front of the theatre in utter confusion as to how she would be able to go in. She had no money to buy a ticket and they wouldn't believe her if she told them she had friends inside, and couldn't prove it either since there was no unoccupied member of staff to escort her inside to prove her claim. Everything seemed busy amongst the workers as if every person had a specific job to do at every moment of their shift. "Great...so much for this 'masterful' plan of mine..." (Y/n) mumbled under her breath and rubbed the back of her neck to comfort herself in this dire situation. She no longer had the cards in this game and had to hope for some sort of luck to appear and aid her.

Suddenly, the female was blinded as a pair of hand emerged from nowhere and covered her eyes. With her restricted vision, the girl's instincts started to surface as her assumptions of this situation transitioned as someone kidnapping her.

(Y/n) quickly regained control of her panic and reminded herself of the self-defence videos she had watched on her phone. Despite this being the first time she was to try it out in real life, the girl concluded she'd rather take her chances with beginner's luck than the person behind her. With great force, she brought the heel of her foot down on top of where, she assumed the attacker's toes are, and gained some momentum before jolting her head back to come into powerful contact with the person's forehead or face. As the hands around her eyes fell she spun around to elbow the assailant in the gut but quickly stopped herself upon realising of who it was.

"G-Guess who...?" Ryo was kneeling on the ground, gingerly holding onto his nose and looking up mercifully at the girl.

"Oh gosh! Ryo, what the hell were you doing?!" The girl shouted with guilty aggravation but leant down to inspect the damage she had caused. "I could have seriously hurt you!"

"That was impressive (Y/n)." Jin came out from behind his friend and congratulated the girl with a clap.

"Don't condone this! She hit me in the face?" The defeated blond whipped back to scowl at his friend on the lack of support on his side.

"I thought I was being attacked!"

"Usually, an attacker would cover the mouth before anything else." The boy swung back around to scold the girl and got back on his feet, still testing out the sturdiness of his snout.

"S-sorry..." The female shifted in her spot and guiltily looked at the hurt boy. The blond handed her what seemed to be a ticket for the play and she took it with gratitude at the male's attentiveness.

"Anyhow, let's go. The show's about to start." Ryo returned to his more cheerful form and beamed at his attacker.

"But I thought the show started 2 hours ago." Jin took the girl's hand and began escorting her towards the entrance of the great building.

"It did. This is just the intermission." The girl's history partner informed her.

"Intermission?"

"You don't know too much about the theatre, do you?" Jin turned towards her with playful sarcasm, while she returned it with pouty indignation.

"I do! It's just that I've never been in a theatre personally...you're allowed to use 3D glasses right?"

Time Skip

As (Y/n) came out into the cool, evening air, she felt extremely refreshed and entertained from the show. "That was sooo good, I think I might like the theatre more than the cinema." The boys enjoyed watching (Y/n) in such an ecstatic and upbeat state. Her high spirits seemed almost contagious and she wasn't shy in showing it. "That was 'The Woman in Black' right? I'll defiantly recommend it to someone." She looked up into the pitch blackness of the night. "Wow, it got dark pretty fast, and it's only 5 pm. Come on, the others should be waiting for us by now." She shouted behind her to the two males that were standing a few feet away. They gladly joined the girl by her side with an unspoken disappointment at the inevitable ending of the day.

As the group of three walked towards the meeting spot, they caught sight of four other figures. (Y/n) quickly ran up to them to greet her previous partners, and she was returned with equal joy. Despite being a bit disheartened at the prospect of ending this active day, she prepared everyone for the way back.

The group took the bus for their ride home, with (Y/n) still urging them not to pay for her and let her walk the way, but her plea simply fell upon deaf ears. "I feel like you guys are trying to make me poor." She sulked in her seat while the boys around her tried to comfort her guilt.

"Then I guess we'll just make it worse with this." Ren nudged Bako to cue the boy for the surprise they had planned for the girl. (Y/n) watched as the two partners took the two large, white bags they had been lugging around, claiming them to be groceries. They handed the bags over to the surprised female and she hesitantly took them while still looking at the two males for inclination on what her next actions should be. "Open them, (Y/n). We hope you like them." With slight reluctance due to her surprise, she opened up the plastic bags and nearly burst out laughing. With an uncontrollable smile, she tried to disapprove of the males' actions but was simply too thrilled to say anything.

She dug one hand in each bag and came out with the contents; two massive, fluffy alpaca plushes emerged, both having identical sown on smiles and big, glass eyes. The main difference between the two was the colour of their fur; one had a minty coloured's coat while the other a pure white fluff. Besides that, they were matching toys, with the same round blushes on each cheek and mesh bow ties with the only indistinguishable feature being the colour, once again.

(Y/n) grinned at the two soft plushes, finding them charming and adorable. She examined the small ears that protruded from their heads and the small nubs for tails they had. The two alpacas seemed to play on the girl's nostalgia and childish nature within her, just as the boys had planned. "They're absolutely cute~ but I can't take them, who knows how much it-" the (h/c) haired girl felt a hand being placed on her mouth to silence her.

"I've been hearing you talk about budgets for the whole day. Just take today's activities as a thank you for helping us study, alright?" Bako stared at the girl with an unhindered expression. Despite her urge to argue, (Y/n) sighed and agreed with the boy, cuddling her new toys close to her.

As the students arrived at their bus stop, it was finally time to part with the girl. "Thanks you guys, hope you had fun. Goodnight!" They waved to each other and went on their separate ways to their respective homes.

"That was quite cunning to play on her childish behaviours like that." Kaito turned towards the two boys, with the slightest hint of praise and irritation in his voice.

"Jealous you didn't think of it first?" Bako mockingly grinned at the intellectual.

'I have my own plans for her.'

The six students made their way home to settle in for the evening and Ryo took out the girl's lost electronic device, "Oh, looks like our dear (Y/n) would have received a text from her friends." He showed the little chat box that appeared on the screen and all the boys disapprovingly frowned.

Saki: '(Y/n)! Where are you?! We need to tell you something! (□′)'

The males nodded to approve of the next decision, as Ryo deleted the message.
