AS THE DAYS ROLLED ON, days like that one special Friday afternoon where Y/N found out much of Finn's backstory, they found that their hangouts often repeated themselves for days after.

Not in the sense that the days were sad and brooding, but in the sense that they found comfort in each other whenever they were together like that.
Y/N even found that Finn proved himself to be much more attentive and engaged with her than Millie ever was.

Go to school, come home, rush through homework, then immediately call the other to go to their spot.
Sometimes, they even did homework together at either of their houses—something the both of them enjoyed.

It was strange how comfortable she could be around him, yet she didn't mind in the least bit.

The more often they were together—which was recurring—the stronger their hidden bond became.

They had fun.
And they found a strong friendship in one another that they never knew they needed.

Y/N would often go to the mountainside with Finn, completely abandoning her responsibilities around her house and her schoolwork.
But if she did it for Finn, she didn't mind.

The two teenagers often found themselves just drawn to the mountainside spot, and whenever one of them was bored or just needed to clear their head, they would immediately retreat to their spot.

It was sacred.

It was theirs alone.

And they would spend entire days up there with nothing but each other's company, and it was the best form of unwinding for both of them.

It was days like this one, that the mountainside found the two teenagers once again basking in each other's presence and comfort.

The late afternoon roared with teenage euphoria and bliss, easing smoothly into night fall—much to the surprise of the two teens who seemed to be so caught up in each other that they didn't even notice that night had fallen.

They spoke of things they would never even imagine telling other people, and even some things they didn't even know they had said.

It was what they usually did.

"Don't you just hate school? It's a fucking nightmare with all these douchebags that go there."
Y/N ranted, her voice and body language indicating that she felt as carefree as she ever had.

Finn chuckled, his curls glistening with the last small bit of the sunset's rays that still struggled to peek over the city while being submerged by the midnight blue sky.

He leaned his head back while he took a swig of the last droplets of his beer—not aware of
Y/N's eyes watching his perfectly sculpted face while his adam's apple bobbed while he gulped.

"Yeah, gotta admit, I do. It's not easy getting weird looks from people and getting picked on."
Finn admitted, an embarrassed chuckle escaped his mouth as he tossed his empty beer bottle to the side to lean on the backs of his hands.

"Yeah. It really sucks when you get looked at like there's a bounty on your head, and it's even worse when the bounty hunters are
hormone-crazed, horny douchebags that just want a fast collection."
Y/N related, realized that she's never told anyone except Millie that guys at school look at her like that.

She hadn't even told her own mother.

"I'm sorry you had to go through that shit. It isn't fair to you." Finn sympathized, feeling his blood broil just at the thought of Jack touching Y/N. "He's a fucking asshole."

Y/N sensed the way a Finn tensed at the mere mention of Jack, and could practically feel the arousal of violence peak in his mind.

Although she knew it was a touchy subject, Y/N wanted to ask.
"Have you gotten in fights before the one with Jack?" She asked, watching as Finn's curls blew with the wind while he stared at her—listening to her question. "The one where you defended me?"

Finn then remembered what she was referring to, and instantly knew the answer.

But he didn't want to admit it.

He didn't want to scare her away when he's formed such a strong friendship with her—one that he's never had with anyone else.

He didn't want to compromise that.

But he also didn't want to keep much from her—so he figured he could afford taking this risk.

"Well uh.." Finn stuttered as he reached a hand to scratch the back of his neck. "Y-Yeah. Yeah, a couple times."

He looked into Y/N's eyes to search for her reaction, and it shocked him.

Instead of finding a look of horror, he found a look of sympathy and interest.

"I just..I just feel this anger bubble up inside me and I just keep on pushing it further down until the point where I just..explode."
Finn illustrated, but Y/N didn't know that he had gotten better with his anger—because of her.

Because of how much Y/N cares for him, he's changed.

"I just..I just hate myself for it. I just wish there was a cure—I wish someone helped me with it."
Finn finished, his truth spilled from his lips like a poison.
He's never told anyone that.
But then again, this was Y/N he was speaking to.

He trusted her.

Y/N nodded with an deep understanding between her and Finn.

She understood why Finn felt this way, because he's had a twisted upbringing.
Finn's father was abusive and degrading, so how exactly was he to get his anger out if not directed at his father?

That's just it.

He's kept it bottled up inside, and that's what makes him explode.

That's what Y/N saw when Finn pummeled Jack that one time when Finn defended her before getting suspended.

It was just pure, untouched, raw anger that burst from inside Finn for having bottled it up.

"I need help.."
He muttered under his breath, low enough for Y/N to barely be able to make it out.

Finn was hurting.

He's been hurting for so long, and no one knew. No one bothered to know.

Except Y/N.

Y/N found her hand leading itself to overlay Finn's own hand, making gentle strokes along his fingers.

"There is help that you can get, Finn. There's therapists and there's psychiatrists. You can go to therapy."
Y/N threw out ideas into the open, hoping Finn caught onto one, and when his eyes turned to meet hers,  he did.

Therapy.

He's never considered going to get help from a professional for fear that he was beyond help.

That he was beyond healing.

But to see the hopeful glimmer in Y/N's eyes made Finn rethink his entire mindset.

It was because of Y/N that his life was worth living.

So it will be because of Y/N, that he actually worked to better improve himself and live his life.

It was because of Y/N, that he has already received the best form of therapy he could have ever gotten.

Her compassionate care and friendship.

And with that, he decided.

He smiled before allowing his own fingers to lace with Y/N's that were still rested upon his own—basking in her small and ginger touches.

"Thank you.."
He said, his voice came out as a whisper against the evening breeze that blew Y/N's hair into the night.

His eyes swirled with all the signs of a fool so deeply enamored of the girl who understands him completely, and Y/N's eyes showed the same.

"For what?"
She giggled, her smile seeming to be brighter than all the stars in the sky above them.

For saving my life.
Finn wanted to say, but his tongue was bit to prevent doing so.

"For giving me a sense of purpose. For believing in me."
Finn finished, his smile making Y/N blush with rosy cheeks.

She hadn't the faintest clue that if it weren't for her, then Finn would have killed himself a long time ago.

But he didn't, and Y/N would never know.

"Well, thank you."
Y/N returned, Finn's eyebrow's raising in playful question.

"For what?"
He asked with an interested smile.

For not being like Jack.
She wanted to admit that she was grateful that she wasn't falling for a guy as pitiful as Jack, but she bit her lip with hesitance.

"For being you. For being so..so different from everyone else. For being different than Jack."
Y/N admitted, smiling as Finn smiled with his curls blowing around with the nightly breeze.

It reminded Y/N that there were good guys in
this world, and that not all of them are as bad as Jack.
Some are better, but some are worse.

But she found comfort with Finn, and that was enough to put her at ease for now.

But then, Y/N chuckled quietly, "You know, when you first came to this school, I actually thought you were gonna be part of his 'entourage.'"
She joked to lighten the mood with emphasis on the last word of her sentence—snickering at Finn's jokingly offended face.

He put a hand up to his chest in a offended-like manner, even though Y/N knew him well enough to know he was joking.

"You're joking! There's no way in hell!"
He exclaimed, watching as Y/N laughed with her perfect smile seemingly blinding him.

He loved her smile.

Laughs echoed in the canyon that laid below them as they sat towards the edge of the cliff that provided the best view of the sunset they loved to watch so much.

Amidst their laughter, and the doubling over of their bodies, Y/N could feel Finn's shoulder brush up against her own as they recovered from their gut-busting laughs.

This was a huge progression from the first time she came up here with Finn when she was careful and put a good couple inches of space between them.

But now, even with their shoulders touching, it didn't seem to be close enough.

Y/N found herself becoming more and more enthralled and intrigued by Finn.

But what she didn't know how to admit, was that she was indeed falling for him.

He was the first guy that she's ever felt this way about, even though she doesn't know how to navigate through her own feelings yet.

All she knew, was that she felt her heart race when she hears him speak her name.

She feels a spark of electricity whenever his hand brushes up against her by accident.

She feels butterflies in her stomach whenever his honeyed eyes meet her own.

However, that also meant that she was inexperienced with these feelings, and she didn't know how to map them out.

But as soon as the night seemed to have swept them away, the sooner it seemed that Y/N's mother summoned her back to her house when Y/N felt a buzz from her phone vibrating in her pocket.

It was her mother that had texted her.

Mom: Where are you?

Y/N: With a friend ; I'll be back soon.

Y/N bit her lip before sending the message, hoping her mother wouldn't have a problem with it.

Mom: No, it's getting late,  Y/N. Time to come home now.

Her mother seemed to be serious, and Finn noticed Y/N's cautious face.

"Everything alright?"
He asked with concern in his honeyed eyes, patting her knee subtly—sending chills up
Y/N's leg.

"Yeah. Just my mom."
She responded simply, wanting to stay out here  with Finn longer.

Y/N: Please, just a little longer?

Y/N continued talking with Finn—laughs started to erupt between the two again, but was once again caught off my Y/N's buzz from her phone.

Mom: I have to talk to you. Come home.

Y/N got chills for some reason at her mother's seriousness, and after reading her text, her laughs stopped abruptly.

She quickly stood up from Finn's side, and dusted off her pants before Finn did the same.

"What's wrong?"
He asked, his eyebrows furrowing with confusion.

The night had fallen, so Y/N could only see Finn's pale structured face underneath the moonlight.

"I have to get home. My mom needs me for something, it sounded important."
She explained, indicating that she needed a ride from Finn.

His face fell—his eyes dulled. He was upset that she had to leave when they were enjoying each other's company so much.

"A-Are you sure you can't stay just for a couple more minutes?"
He asked with saddened eyes as if he were planning on doing something before she said she was to leave.

"I-I can't, I need to get going."
Y/N said, her phone being clenched inside her fist of her hand.

"I-I just wanted to show you something real quick—.."

"Finn. I need to go." Y/N repeated sternly, her feet already guiding her back to the direction of Finn's car. "I'm sorry."

Finn didn't protest, but instead realized the urgency in Y/N's voice, and knew it must be important.

His surprise would have to wait.

He huffed with defeat before he he ran after to catch up to Y/N, he left the surprise's dazzling lights to dull and fade into
the night—forgotten.

Just as his secrets that he kept from Y/N seemed to do that same night..
