So you decide to arrive early?

Dedicated to successful writer and fellow Indian :)

In case you haven't read the first six chapters, her is a little brief.

Krisanne calls Ayana and Vihaan to inform them about a sudden crisis that has arrived upon them and they rush to their college.

Ethan, back home, finds out that his recommendation letter will be given to him on one condition, he will have to come to India and win a competition. He along with his best friend Rey try to get out of the situation by using Amber, Rey's blind sister as an excuse. They later find out that Ethan's father is making sure they can't get out of it and they are forced to come to India.

Meanwhile back in Mumbai...

Ayana's P. O. V

"Sir, this is not right!" I argue with my vice principal. Krisanne and I are currently standing inside his office and Vihaan is late, as usual.

Good thing Krisanne didn't wait for him to pick her up.

"I know Ayana, but it's not in my hands. We have to do it. Besides, it's just two people. Other teams are still the same, you just need to replace two of our members with the students who are coming," he tries to reason with me and I run a hand down my face.

Krisanne steps forward from the back and squeezes my shoulder. I look at her and shake my head.

"Sir, those people on the team worked hard for two full years for a spot on this team. You know how important this is for them. All those people are not toppers and with the cut offs right now, they won't get admission anywhere. They are more than dependent on the five percent cut that they will get because of the sports quota. You can't do this to them," I reason. Just then the door opens and Vihaan comes in and stands beside me.

"What's the matter?" he whispers in my ears and our vice principal stands up.

"I'm sorry Ayana. I can't do anything. You will have to do as I say, and replace someone from the swimming and academic team. Those students are arriving tomorrow and the responsibility of arranging their stay is also on you. I will see you later. Let me know the changes," he says and exits the room, leaving Vihaan, Krisanne and me in the room.

"Ayana calm down," Krisanne finally speaks up and I turn to give her my full attention. Vihaan is still really confused and unaware.

Deserves it for being late.

"So you speak up now? Kris, they are our team mates! One of them is being kicked out and you just stand and listen quietly!" I blurt out.

"What? What's happening, will someone please tell me," Vihaan asks, getting impatient.

"Vihaan, we have two exchange students coming to Mumbai to take part in the competition. We will have to accommodate them in our teams by removing one of our members," Krisanne answers Vihaan's question and turns to me. Vihaan forms an 'o' with his mouth and then frowns.

"Ayana, I know I should have spoken up, but it was not going to make any difference. We have to do this. As far as academic team is concerned, I'll step down. I don't need that certificate anyway. All the others want it for their institutes," Krisanne told me and I sighed.

Vihaan just put his arm around her shoulder and gave her a bear hug. It's his way of telling Krisanne he is proud of her or it's going to be okay, depending on the situation. Both of them then looked at me,waiting for me to say something.

"It's not the academic team I'm worried about, Kris. They don't need those certificates that much anyway. Their percentage is high enough to get them where they want to go. I'm worried about the swimming team. Those three need this certificate for a good college. I'm the only one who can afford to step down since my grades are high anyway," I express my concern and they both look at each other.

I know that look. They always do it when they know they are thinking about the same thing and they are contemplating whether they should tell me or not. I turn around to pick up the list of names and scan through them since I forgot mine at home.

"I know you guys are thinking that I should step down. I don't mind doing it. But the question is, will they be able to win then? I swim on the last spot and that's a crucial spot. I need to make sure that who ever is replacing me is good enough for it. I also need to make sure that the team is comfortable with whoever that is. They will have to work like a team to win. That doesn't happen easily. If that person screws up or the team is not comfortable with him, they lose the competition and that affects their admission." I say and both of them come and hug me from the back.

"Don't worry, we will manage just fine," Krisanne said.

"You're my smarty, I'm sure you will figure something out," Vihaan said and I nodded in their hold.

"I guess I know what I'm are going to do."

NEXT DAY.

DAY ONE.

"Krisanne are you sure you want to do this?" I ask Krisanne while walking in the corridor.

"Yeah Ayana, I'm sure. Okay listen, should I buy white roses or red roses?" she asks me from the other side and I roll my eyes at her.

"Kris, it's not valentine's day! We just have to complete a stupid ceremony of welcoming them with flowers. So just pick up anything," I tell her and I hear Vihaan screaming 'I told you so' from the back.

"Shut up Vihaan. Ayana, you know I can't work like that. Everything has to be perfect. All the other flowers are not good at all. One more thing, Why do I have to work with Vihaan? He never let's me work in peace," she complains and I smile.

"I sent him with you so I can work in peace," I tell her and I hear Vihaan screaming 'shut up I'm the best' again.

"In your dreams. Okay Ayana, I'll call you later. Bye." she says and hangs up.

I stuff my phone in my bag and check the list of things I needed to do. Yeah I need a list because I'm absent minded.

"What the hell! What do you mean he is not available?" a voice with a heavy accent caught my attention. I turned to my left to see a guy shouting at the office clerk. A little crowd had gathered there but no one seemed to be doing anything about the commotion.

Typical.

I walk towards the commotion and immediately catch the crowds attention. They immediately disperse and that guy turns.

I look him in the eye and his entire expression changes for one moment before coming back to normal. I catch the girls oggling at him like they have never seen an attractive guy before.

Attractive? Where did that come from Ayana?

"What's happening?" I ask the clerk and a look of relief crosses his face.

He explains to me in Hindi that this guy wants to meet the vice principal. He says that he is the exchange student who has come for the competition.

I tell the office clerk to leave and that I'll handle it from here.

"You're the exchange student?" I ask him and he shakes his head slightly like he just snapped out of something.

"Yeah. My names Ethan Raynott. My friend and his sister are at a coffee shop nearby. The cab driver dropped us there when we showed them this address," he explains and shows me the address."I luckily knew the name of the college, so I managed to reach here," he explains his misery to me and I mentally scoff.

So just because you had to face a little trouble, you behave rudely with everyone?

"You guys were supposed to be arriving in the evening, right?" I ask him rather rudely and he narrows his eyes at me, clearly shocked with my behaviour.

"Yeah, but then we didn't take the normal flight and we used my private jet," he tells me and I roll my tongue in my mouth in an attempt to control myself.

Couldn't leave out the private jet part, right? Had to make sure the world knows he's rich.

"So you decide to arrive early, and don't even bother to inform us? You forget to inform us and then you come and insult the office staff!?" I question him in a low but deadly tone. A look of annoyance and anger takes over his face. He narrows his dark brown eyes at me.

"I have had a really long flight. I'm tired and I'm your guest, so you're supposed to be treating me nicely. I had heard that for Indians, guests are equivalent to God, and this is how you treat me?" he says and steps closer trying to intimidate me.

"I am treating you nicely, Mr Ethan Raynott. If you were a normal student of this college, I would have made sure you apologised to that man you just insulted," I say and he just narrows his eyes further. I know I'm irritating him but no one behaves like that unnecessarily with the staff or anyone, and gets away with it.

"And who are you to decide that?" he asks me and crosses his arms.

"I'm Ayana Singhania, head of the student council and organizer of the competition you're going to be taking part in," I say and immediately he stiffens slightly, just for a moment, before his composure is back.

"I don't know why, but I know that you and your friend are here, because both of you desperately needed to take part in this competition. So I suggest you to cooperate with us, and let's get these ten days over and done with. Then we all can go our separate ways. For now, I need you to come with me so I can show you where you will be staying for ten days," I say and start walking towards the exit. I hear him mumble something under his breath before I hear hesitant steps following me.

My phone starts ringing and I remove it from my bag to see its uncle Carlos, my caretaker.

He was my parent's chauffeur and after their death he takes care of me like I'm his daughter. He still performs the duty of a chauffeur for me, but for me, he is like a father.

"Yeah Uncle Carlos, tell me," I ask him and his concerned voice explains the situation to me.

I run a hand down my face.

"No, please tell me this is not happening."
