Inevitable // Chapter 3

Haille Calista

I found you. You're my mate

Those words were scarily familiar. Zoe had mentioned that word earlier but quickly tried to cover it up. Mate. Even if I didn't know what it meant, it still scared me to the point where it left me breathless. With so many thought swirling in my head, urging to be answered, I just sat there in ultimate shock, staring into nothingness. I was beyond shocked actually, all caused by many unexplainable reasons.

The first being how everyone but me seems to understand what was happening between the two. Heck, even the bouncers had small smirks on their faces as they witness the whole escapade.

Two, I can't wrap my head around the fact that Zoe actually ran towards... whatever he is. At this point, she also had me questioning if she was even human at this point.

Three, Despite my confused state, I felt this foreign feeling inside of my chest at the sight of my best friend in David's arm.

I believe that is what confused me most. The two finally pulls away as David gently placed her back on her own feet but not before pulling her into a kiss that even had me blushing.

Abruptly Zoe pulls away from David, her eyes slowly turning towards me as a look of horror swept past her features. Mumbling something under her breath, she turned towards David, whispering something into his ear before hastily grabbing me and sprinted away from the club without a single word.

Quickly pushing me into her small Lexus she jumped into the driver seat and pull out of the space we had parked. With everything happening so fast, I struggled to keep up with my surroundings.

Much faster than I'd like, she speeds through the streets. I didn't say anything though, it's not like I could if I wanted because I was too much in shock to actually form a coherent sentence. I felt numb. I realize we were heading back to her house when I caught sight of a familiar street before it blurred by.

No more than five minutes later we pull in front of her house. Zoe practically drags me inside of her house, locking the door and immediately called for her mom. "Mom!"

I half-mindedly watched as she nervously paced back and forth against her carpeted floor. She ran a hand through her hair just as a loud flirty giggle echoed off the walls, followed by a more manlier laugh.

Zoe groans impatiently as her parents failed to make an appearance.

"Seriously," Zoe mutters. She glances nervously at me before quickly looking away. She turns her back to me as if to hide something. Being the defiant person I am, walks around until I stood in front of her.

Seemingly not noticing my presence in front of her, I noticed that her eyes were slightly , almost unnoticeably, glazed over as if she was having an internal conversation. Her expression looked distant like she was not even here with me.

She blinked and jumps back in surprise, I was standing directly in front of her. She threw me an apologetic look, taking a few steps away from me just as a rampage of footsteps sounded from the stairway.

A frantic Mr. and Mrs. Venera came stumbling down the stairs glowering at Zoe before giving me an contemplated look.

"What's going on?" I questioned specifically to no one. I wanted to know what happened at the club, how we'd manage to get here so fast without being pulled over, how I have been able to hear things I shouldn't have heard, why Zoe eyes were glazed over, and the list could go on.

"Yes, Zoe what is going on?" Mr. Venera asked disappointment laced in tone as he looks expectantly at Zoe.

Meanwhile, Zoe's mom is feeling my forehead and asking if I feel weird, and all other kinds of nonsense that I couldn't focus enough to answer. However, my attention hones in on Zoe as she finally responds to her father.

"I've made a horrible and careless mistake. I found my mate." Zoe says attracting her mom's attention.

"Honey, that's wonderful news!" She exclaims, which quickly dies down when Zoe continue.

"And Haille saw the whole thing. He bared his teeth, the cries, everything." she explains, putting a slight emphasis on the word 'everything' as if it would make sense to her parents.

Their eyes widen before snapping over to me, who was still confused and slightly terrified about what else I would find out. The way their eyes scrutinized me told me more was to come.

"Is this true?" Mr. Venera asked, sheer panic flashing through his eyes. I merely nod causing him to let out a loud sigh, running his hands through his hair. "Could you have been more careful Zoe? Zara, please inform Cara."

"I'm sorry Dad." Zoe answer the same time Mrs. Venera says "She's on her way."

There was a tense moment of silence as everyone was lost in their own thought until there was a haste knock on the door. I turned towards the door as I watched my mother walk through the door, a mirroring expression of Mr. Venera only seconds ago.

Mrs. Venera exchanged a few looks with my mother to which she obviously understood before turning to me. "Tony." Mom simply says staring behind me. I felt an icy sensation flow through my body and a wave of fatigue just as my vision blurred and I passed into the world of oblivion. Sleep.

•••

My entire body jerked upwards inhaling a large breath of oxygen into my lungs, feeling my chest tightened as if someone has robbed me of my breath.

Sitting up straight I was able to see my reflection in the full wall mirror that sat on the wall directly in front of the bed. A reflection of a girl, totally opposite of how I feel, stares back at me.

Amazing.

The only words that I could manage. I feel like utter crap after just waking up, I expected that utter crap feeling girl to be staring back at me with her frizzy hair, bags under eyes while wearing her cat onesie. Never did I expect this freshly tanned girl staring back at me. Her hair professionally done in long loose curls styled away from my face. Her intense hazel eyes look livelier than ever. Her head crowned with a golden head chain that matched the golden spiral arm bracelets that cuffed both of her arms. And her body adorned with the most beautiful white dress I've ever seen.

Only then did I realize that I have absolutely no clue where I was. Scrutinizing my surroundings I come up just as clueless as was a few seconds ago. I was sat on a purely white bed with an exception of the frame being golden.

The only thing I realized was the same anomalous design on just about everything. It almost looks like a rose with numerous stems spiraling out everywhere. It was the same design that was engraved on the jewelry, the bed, the walls, it was even in the mirror.

Mouth open agape, I continue surveying this weird place I had mysteriously woke up in. As weird as it seems, I didn't have the urge to have the reaction a sane person would if they'd have woken up in an unfamiliar room they've never seen in their entire life.

Maybe I am insane for wanting to stay instead of jumping out of the nearest window to escape. Maybe I am insane for feeling a sense of comfort by being here. Maybe I am even more insane for feeling as though I had lived here all of my life.

Standing, I near the first door that was closest to the bed. The door was completely made of glass, carefully pushing it to a loud gasp escapes my lips as I revealed the grand bathroom before me. I never thought in a million years that I'd fall in love with a bathroom.

On the farthest wall from where I stood in the doorway was a large window, a white marble vanity sat right beneath. The left of the vanity was a rather large mirror above the matching marble sink and counter that stretched almost as long as the wall. The large mirror gave a clear reflection of the right wall which is where the tall glass shower stood taking up nearly half the wall

How was it not possible to fall in love with. This is like a dream bathroom. I bet at least twenty people could fit into that shower alone! As of right now, I'm definitely thinking about staying.

Faintly I heard something shuffle from another room. It might've been a figment of my imagination because there couldn't have been anyone here, I'm sure they would have made an appearance by now or I would have noticed.

Closing the glass door to the bathroom I made my way to the next door which unlike the bathroom had a white wooden door. Slowly I peeled the door away from the frame anxious to see what awaits. I nearly peed my pants once I took a step into the room.

Sat in the middle of the room was a very large, you won't believe it, oak brown desk. I would have paid more attention to the desk that was a color other than gold or white, however, there was something else I was paying attention to that made me nearly piss myself in fright.

At the desk sat a man. Not just any man though. There was something about him that made me freeze just to stare at him. The intensity of his stare had my heart racing in seconds. My stomach tightening. My thighs clenching together. A pleasurable burning sensation igniting throughout my whole body resulting in chills arising on my skin. Yes, no ordinary man he was.

He abruptly stood from his seat, my eyes involuntarily trailing down from his defined exposed chest down to where his white night pants hung dangerously low on his hips. If only it had been a few inches lower I'd....

Yep, dangerously low.

My eyes snapped back up to his eyes when he spoke. "Delilah, you're awake." He says breathlessly as if he couldn't believe his own words. "You're finally awake." He repeats slowly walking around his desk.

When he finally made it fully around, I swear I could just have died right here and now. Standing in front of his desk gave me a clearer view of this man, especially since he was now standing under a light.

"Who are you?" The question managed to slip out, despite me being in utter shock from standing in the same room as this godly creature in front of me.

"Chandler. Chandler Knight. " He answers confidently. I nearly missed what he has said for the reason being that the only thing that's running through my mind is he's perfect. How could he be so perfect? He's literally the walking definition of PERFECT.

"Delilah, my eyes are up here," He said motioning towards his eyes. Fiercely blushing, I slowly lift my eyes to meet his to find him grinning at me.

It's almost as if he was purposely doing this to me, I watched as his tongue slowly wet his lower lips, his eyes slowly slipping from my face and downwards, his gaze lingering on my every curve with this look in his eyes I yet to decipher.

Biting my lip, I shifted uncomfortably to one foot. I would've made a snarky remark on how hypocritical he was being but my voice seems to be lost. For some unknown reason, I actually enjoy the way he was looking at me.

He wasn't looking at me like those hormonal high school teen boys would look at you, as if you're a piece of meat. No, the way he was looking at me was like he couldn't believe I was here. As if he was trying to take in ever last detail before I would somehow disappear. Slowly his eyes moved back up to my eyes. I raised a brow as if saying 'really?'

It was his turn to blush and look away. "Sorry, I just can't believe you're here." He breathes stepping closer until we were inches apart.

"What do you mean you can't believe I'm here? Where have I been? Actually, where am I?" I questioned once again looking around trying to find at least a hint about where we are.

"Never mind about what I said." He says never taking his eyes off of me.

"Where am I?" I repeated a bit more forcibly seeing as he ignored my question the first time.

A grin splinters out on his face. "We're in our kingdom, your kingdom."

Right then I should have ran and called him crazy. I woke up dressed in weird clothes, in a weird place, with an unbelievably attractive man, telling me I'm in my kingdom.

But I didn't run. I stayed. Staring at him for the longest time until he finally decided to make a move. He takes a step closer to me, grasping my hands in his.

I immediately snatch my hands away as if he had burned me. Figuratively speaking, he actually did. The moment his hands touched mine a burning fiery sensation shot up my arms making me feel things that I shouldn't.

My eyes sprang up from my hands to his eyes and for the umpteenth time today I almost died right there. Standing so close to me I was able to see his perfectly sculpted face.

His brown hair was neatly styled back, allowing me a clear view of his face. Grey eyes with specks of gold, that stared back into my hazel ones. His perfect nose lined with his kissable rosy lips.

Those lips I'd like mines to meet.

His mouth pulled back into a half grin revealing his pearly whites, as a result from catching me staring at his lips. I really need to stop eye raping this man. Even with that thought I could help but wonder how was this even possible, how could one be so perfect. I could barely think straight as he took another step towards me completely closing the distance between us.

My breath hitch as he began to lean forward leaving a fraction of an inch between our face. His eyes flickered between my own as something filled his eyes. Admiration?

A hand settles on my face, as much as I would have tried I couldn't resist myself from leaning into his touch.

"Chandler, where are we." I questioned again not believing the whole kingdom thing "Why is everything white and gold?" Staring back into his eyes, I could feel a weird feeling in the depths of my stomach warming my body, whole.

"You're home, Delilah." He simply said, a prominent smile on his rosy lips. He steps away from our current position walking back around towards his desk.

"Who is Delilah?" I questioned, "Why do you keep calling me that?" I fire.

He looks up from his work giving me a weird look before chuckling. "You have a lot to learn my sweet Delilah."

I suddenly felt a burst of immense irritation building up. Every question I ask he always replies with a vague answer giving me nothing to quench my curiosity and confusion. Slowly but surely I felt myself not trusting this man with every second that passes. What made matters worse was that every time he touches me, or simply look at me my whole body involuntarily reacts, wanting to be closer to him. Despite the facts, I still feel so far away from him, like something is holding me back.

I don't know what he's hiding, who he is, or what he has done to me, but one thing is for sure.

I will find out.
