beautiful and kind, but sad

AS DEAN AND Aria spoke to Mr. Dutton, the victims husband, Sam was in the bathroom where the incident happened.

"She was so scared. I couldn't help; I couldn't do anything to stop it." Images of Aria's sister getting stabbed by the Oni entered her mind as Mr Dutton talked. She couldn't do anything either. "And i've talked to the police, the medical examiner and no one can explain it."

"And that's why they called us, Mr. Dutton," Aria told him, sending him a small smile.

"But the CDC, that's disease control, right?" Both of them nodded at the man's question. "What do you think; it's some kind of virus?" To the side of them, Sam closed the bathroom door, separating them from him.

"We're not ruling out anything yet." Dean nodded, 'writing' in his notepad. "Mr. Dutton did Janet have any enemies?"

Mr Dutton blinked. "I'm sorry?"

"Did anyone have a reason to hurt her?" Aria questioned, making eye contact with him.

"Wait," He stood up and looked down at the Argent girl since she was shorter. "—what are you saying? That somebody poisoned her?"

"What we're saying is that we have to cover every base," Dean told him calmly, lightly yanking on the back of Aria's pant suit. She took a step back, understanding what he was wanting her to do.

"Well, I mean, what kind of poison?" He asked, looking between Dean and Aria with furrowed brows. "You think a person could've done this?"

"Would anyone want to?"

"What!?" He looked down at Aria in disbelief and slight anger. "No, no, there's just no one that could've–" He stopped talking, gazing away from them with a look of what looked like realization.

The younger Argent looked over at the bathroom door as Sam stepped out. He leaned against the door, placing his hands into his pants pockets.

"Mr. Dutton?" Dean urged.

"Uh, everyone loved Janet."

Aria's brown eyes narrowed. Someone who says that, sure did hesitated stating it. In the corner of her eyes, she noticed Sam tilting his head side to side, frowning.

"Okay..." Dean trailed off. "Thank you very much; I think we've got everything we need. We'll get out of your way now."

RAIN HIT ARIA'S head, rolling down her face as she walked in between the boys, making their way to the Impala. "Was it just me or was he being evasive?"

"I don't know, I was under a sink pulling this out." Sam took out a small brown bag out of his pocket, handed it to Dean who stopped walking and opened it up.

"Is that a hex bag?" Aria questioned, disgusted by what she saw in the little bag.

"Yes, it is. I guess reading our fathers' journal is doing you some good." Sam gave the tiny brunette a small smile and a nod.

"Aww gross." Dean scrunched up his nose in disgust and Aria found it quite adorable.

"Yeah, there are bird bones, rabbit's teeth. This cloth is probably cut from something Janet Dutton owned," Sam explained to them, clearing his throat as he thought over all the possibilities.

Aria glanced back at the house, getting a weird feeling as Dean handed the hex bag to Sam, grabbed her wrist gently, and started walking towards the Impala again.

"So..." Aria trailed off, jumping down the steps like a child. "A witch?" She mused.

"Uh, yeah, and not some new age wicked water douser either," Sam stated, and Aria furrowed her brows at the description. "This is old world black magic guys, I mean, warts and all."

Aria opened the Impala's door and got in the back seat.

"I hate witches," Dean grumbled, making Sam chuckle. "They're always spewing their bodily fluids everywhere."

"Gross." Aria scrunched her nose up, shaking her head.

"Pretty much." Sam nodded, chuckling at Aria's facial expression.

"It's creepy, you know, it's down right unsanitary."

"Yeah, well someone definitely had it out for Janet."

"Yeah, someone who snuck in that house and planted the bag," Aria spoke up, looking back at the house. "So, we're looking for some old craggy Blair witch in the woods?" She leaned forward, resting her head on the seat inbetween the brothers.

"I like you," Dean commented, grinning at her, taking a lock of her hair in his fingers and twirled it.

Sam eyed his brother for a second, trying to hide his grin. "No." He shook his head. "It could be anyone. Neighbor, coworker, man, woman – that's the problem, guys, they're human, they're like everyone else."

"Great," Aria spoke sarcastically. "Then how do we find 'em?"

"This wasn't random; someone in Janet Dutton's life had an ugly axe to grind. We find the motive–"

"We find the murderer."

"Yeah."

Dean started the Impala and they were off.

"DEAN!" ARIA pointed to Paul aka Mr. Dutton who fell out of his car, choking. She jumped out of the car, the brothers scrambling after her. "Check the car, Sam!" She yelled as Dean and her patted Paul on the back, trying to help him open an airway to breathe.

"Got it!" Sam lit the hex bag on fire, and Paul gasped for air.

Dean and Aria gripped his arms to help him stand up. "Are you okay?" She asked worriedly, running a hand over his back.

The older man looked at them with wide eyes, his face slowly going back to its normal color. "What the hell is happening to me!?"

Aria pursed her lips, trying to think of how to word things properly, but decided that there wasn't a nice way of saying it. So, she said, "Someone murdered your wife and now they're after you."

"That's impossible! There's no way–"

"If we hadn't have been following you, you'd be a doornail right now," Dean stated sternly. "Now who wants you dead?"

"I–uh..."

"Come on think."

"There's a woman – uh –"

"A woman, okay?"

"An affair - a mistake–" Aria pursed her lips angrily. If you're just gonna cheat, why get married in the first place? "–she was un-balanced, she was black mailing me and I put an end to it a week ago," He told them, wincing upon seeing Aria's angry expression.

"What's her name?" The little Argent asked, lips in a thin line.

"Wha–what could she have to do with–"

"Paul!" Dean exclaimed loudly. "What's her name?"

THE TRIO ENTERED Amanda's house, guns drawn. Upon walking into a room, they found a dead body laying on a table, most likely Amanda's. She was covered in blood. Dean switched on the light so they could see better. The flames on the candles were burning; she died not that long ago.

"That's a curveball," Dean broke the silence.

"Yeah."

Aria walked forward and lifted Amanda's arms up with the barrel of the gun; cuts were on her wrists. "Three per wrist, vertical." She stepped back.

"She wasn't kidding around," Dean commented, shaking his head.

Sam bent down next to her body, gagging at a sight of old food with maggots and flies in it. "Yeah, looks like she was working some heavy weight," he agreed.

"Oh god!" Aria looked over at Dean to see him jump back from a hanging rabbit. "Freakin' witches! Seriously man, come on!" Aria couldn't help but to giggle at his face. He turned to her, glaring, but there was no heat behind it.

"Guess we know where she got the rabbit's teeth from," Sam commented, gesturing vaguely at the hanging rabbit.

"Well, Paul sure knows how to pick 'em huh?" Dean clicked his tongue. "It's like Fatal Attraction all over again." Aria and Sam exchanged a look. "And why does the rabbit always get screwed in the deal? The poor little guy!" Dean exclaimed loudly, flinging his arms at his sides.

"You amuse me so much, Dean." Said man sent Aria a sarcastic smile.

"You know what I don't get it, guys?" Sam started, narrowing his eyes in thought. "If she was so bent up on revenge, why do this?"

"Well, she killed Janet, thought she killed Paul which would end her revenge. Maybe she thought this was the best way to end it all." Aria shrugged, looking at the body. Her heart clenched at the sight.

"Maybe."

Sam looked under the table. "There's this though." He stood up and threw something to Dean.

The older brother held up a little bag. "Another hex bag? Come on!" He looked in the bag before throwing it on the table, grabbing his phone. "Looks like we got a hit, huh? A little witch — on — witch violence?"

"Maybe." Aria shrugged. She was still grasping the fact that there is more than a dozen supernatural beings out in the world. She's also still wondering how the hell she didn't know about any of this, about how her family doesn't know that fact either.

Dean dialed a number. "I'd like to report a dead body, 309 Mayfair circle. My name? Yeah, sure, my name is–" He turned his phone off. "Why are witches ganking each other?"

"I don't know."

"I think we have a coven on our hands."

"YOU MUST HAVE a green thumb," Aria spoke as they approached Elizabeth who was in her garden.

The older woman with dark hair and soft facial expression looked up at them approaching her. Her brown eyes focused on Aria who had spoken to her first. "Excuse me?"

"Getting those herbs to grow in a season like this, that's quite impressive." Aria gestured to the plants that she was just tending to. She recalls her mother surprisingly being a plant person.

Sam jumped slightly, "we're sorry, we should've introduced ourselves first." They were quick to pull out their badges to show her. "I'm detective Barton, these are detectives Bachman and Turner." They all have her a fake smile, putting away their badges. "We're following up on Amanda Burns' death."

"But didn't she—" she cut herself off when they tilted their heads at her words. "I mean, she killed herself, right?" Her eyes were wide as she looked between the three of them.

"Maybe, maybe not," Aria frowned, shrugging. "We heard you were a friend of the deceased, right?"

The woman continued to look between them suspiciously. "Yeah, I guess so."

"Do you have any idea about her practices?" Aria asked, and held back a grin as the woman froze and stuttered for a second.

She gathered herself enough to frown and furrow her brows. "I'm sorry, what kind of practices?"

"Her house was littered with satanic paraphernalia," Sam informed her.

"A regular Black Sabbath," Dean piped in with a grin.

She shook her head, eyes narrowing. "No, she — but she was an Episcopalian," Elizabeth said, eyeing the three of them.

Dean hummed. "Well, then we're pretty sure she was using the wrong bible." He chuckled, turning to share a look with his brother.

"Elizabeth, you alright?" The trio turned around to face two women; one with long blonde hair and bangs, and the other with short brown hair.

Elizabeth's eyes widened and fidgeted, keeping her eyes on the blonde as both women walked around the trio to stand on either side of her. "I'm fine uh Renee, these are detectives. They say Amanda was – she was practicing–"

The blonde, Renee, ran a hand down Elizabeth's arm, turning to stare at the trio with a wide smile on her face. "I'm sorry detectives; you can tell that Elizabeth is a little bit upset."

"Of course, Miss..."

"Mrs," She corrected Dean. "Renee. Van. Allen," She told them slowly, almost like she was important. "Would you like me to spell it for you?"

"Nah." Aria shook her head, stepping forward slightly. "It's a pretty simple. So, it won't be hard to spell."

"This Amanda business has been hard on Liz," Renee stated, "for all of us."

"Yeah, I mean, you think you know a person," the other woman spoke, making eye contact with Dean.

Dean nodded, lightly scoffing. "I guess we all have secrets, don't we?"

Renee and the other woman both offered them a fake smile, the short-haired brunette glanced over at Elizabeth who seemed to have shut down since the other two appeared.

Sam smiled, "well, thanks. We'll be in touch."

Dean nodded, placing his hand on Aria's lower back. "Have a nice day."

"Bye."

"WELL, IM ALREADY sold on Elizabeth. Did you see her garden? Belladonna, Wolfsbane, Mandrake, not to mention how she reacted when we mentioned the occult," Aria explained to the boys from the backseat, running her fingers through her hair. "I also don't think she's alone. Those two women, they showed up once they realized their friend was about to burst." She paused, putting the pieces together. "Amanda clearly went off the reservation. I think they killed her to keep up appearances."

"I agree." Dean nodded.

"Yeah."

And that is when they started debating whether we should kill them or not. As soon as Dean agreed to stopping them, the Impala stuttered.

"What the hell!?"

There was a woman standing in front of the car. Blonde, good body but bad vibe. There was something up with her.

They stepped out of the car, and Sam stared in disbelief at the blonde. "Ruby."

"So this is Ruby, huh?" Dean rose a gun to her head. "Never got the pleasure."

"Point that somewhere else," Ruby told him, glaring.

Dean laughed sarcastically. "Right."

"Sam, please." She turned to Sam, rolling her eyes at Dean. "Go. Get in the car and don't look back."

Aria rose a brow and scoffed. "I'm pretty sure we can take down a couple witches," she spoke up.

"Ah, Aria Argent? The runaway. The hunter who ran with wolves." By now, both brothers were looking at the tiny brunette. "Did the pain get too much for you? Was it too much for you to stay after watching your sister – your twin – to die? How about seeing your mothers lifeless body in the hospital? Or Erica in the arms of Derek? Boyd? Your aunt? What about Aiden, the boy you used to fill the empty void in your heart after being rejected by Stiles?"

Aria swallowed the huge lump in her throat and forced back the tears that were fighting their way to the surface. "Dean." She looked to her favorite Winchester. "Shoot her," her voice cracked as those words slipped past her lips.

"Sure thing, babydoll." He aimed the gun once again at Ruby.

"Wait! I'm sorry!" She exclaimed, but obviously not meaning it. "The witches, they are serving a demon and it knows Sam is here. It'll be coming for him."

Dean scoffed, turning his angry eyes to his brother. "Oh come on, what is this huh? Please tell me you're not listening to this crap!"

Ruby sneered, "Put a leash on your brother Sam, if you wanna keep him."

Sam sighed, giving his brother a pleasing look. "Dean, look, just chill out."

"No, no!" Dean shouted, "She's messing with your head, God knows why, that's who they are!"

Ruby crossed her arms. "I'm telling you the truth."

"And I'm telling you to shut up, bitch."

"I'm sorry, why are you even a part of this conversation?!" The blonde demon exclaimed, throwing her hand out to gesture to him.

Dean tilted his head back and forth with a scoff. "Oh, I don't know maybe because he's my brother you black eyed skank!"

Aria's eyes widened at this. There was still so much she didn't know about the Winchester's past, specially with demons.

"Oh, right, right. You care about your brother so much, that's why you're checking out in a few months, leaving him all alone?" Ruby spat out, rolling her eyes at the oldest Winchester.

"Okay, that is uncalled for!" Aria shouted, staring at the demon with wide eyes. Everything was escalating too quickly for her liking.

"And why would I care about your opinion, you pathetic bitch?!" Ruby sneered as she turned her attention to Aria. "You abandoned the only people who ever cared about you!"

"Shut up!" Dean shouted, moving to fire the colt at Ruby.

Sam shouted, "Dean, no!" He pushed Dean's arm away from Ruby as he fired the colt, and Dean tried to fight against Sam's hold, and they locked arms, and then turned look to where Ruby was standing to see that she has vanished.

Dean gives Sam a look of disappointment and turned around to get back in the Impala.

Aria wrapped her arms around herself, swallowing a lump in her throat, before making her way back inside the Impala, as well.

ARIA SAT ON one of the bed's in the motel, sitting beside Dean as she listened to him and Sam argue over who Ruby was, what she is, why Sam was trusting her, and the whole thing with Dean dying. She know she shouldn't be getting close to him or even Sam because she knows that she'll be losing them, but she couldn't help it. They were filling the void that is in her heart.

And maybe, that was the selfish part of her talking, though.

"Ah!" Dean suddenly yelled out, clutching his stomach, bending over.

Aria's eyes widened and she jumped forward, rubbing his back in an attempt to comfort him even though she has no clue on what was happening. "Are you okay?!"

He kept opening his mouth but no words could form. His eyes were shut tightly, groaning. "Something is wrong – bunch of knives inside of me–" He lowered his head, almost all the way between his legs.

"Dean!" Aria got off the bed and kneeled in front of him, taking his face in her hands. "Dean?!"

"Son of a bitch!" He exclaimed, eyes closing in agony. Aria shhed him, rubbing his cheeks gently with her thumbs. "It's the coven!" He shouted, clenching his teeth. "It's gotta be the coven!"

"Sam!" Aria shouted in fear, turning to Sam who was throwing things around in the room in an attempt to find a hex bag. Swallowing thickly, she turned to Dean, "It's gonna – It's gotta be okay." Tears were stinging in her hazel eyes. He pushed me to the side, almost falling over completely as he coughed out blood. "Dean!" She exclaimed, heart beating against her rib cage as she laid his head in her lap, fingers running through his short hair. "Sam!" She yelled out, hoping he found something by now.

"I can't find it!" Sam yelled out worriedly, looking down at his brother. "No." He grabbed a gun and checked it for bullets.

"What are you doing!?" Aria looked up at the youngest brother. "Sam!" He left the motel room, not looking back. But Sam leaving left her mind quickly as soon as she heard Dean groan in pain, him burying his face into her stomach.

"A–Aria," he choked out, he name almost getting trapped in his throat.

"Shh. It's going to be okay." Tears rolled down her face, one hand on his head, the other gripping his jacket tightly on her grasp. She knew she was going to lose him sooner or later, she just didn't think it would be this soon.

THE DOOR WAS kicked in and there stood Ruby. She looked angry as hell and ready to fight. Aria gently laid Dean's head onto the floor and stood protectively in front of him. "If you wanna kill him, you gotta get in line, bitch or you'll have to go through me," she threatened, chest aching as she heard Dean groaning behind her.

"Okay." She shrugged, marched forward, grabbed Aria's shirt and flung her across the room, the Argent's head hitting the wall.

Aria let out a cry of pain, holding her head. "Dean!" She shouted, watching as Ruby grabbed Dean and threw him on the bed through blurry eyes. Ruby forced something down his throat, and Aria's mouth hung open in shock as Dean breathed out a sigh of relief and relaxed; the pain was gone.

"I'll kill you if you touch Aria, again," Aria heard Dean threaten before he shoved Ruby off of him, quickly scrambling over to Aria, gently grabbing her face and checking for bruises.

DEAN AND ARIA ran into Renee's house, shotguns pointed at the demon who rose her hand and they were flung back into a couch.

"Crap!" Aria exclaimed as they quickly stood up, but was immediately suction cupped to the wall like a star fish.

"Three for one. Lovely," the demon grinned, eyeing them like they were free food. It was the short brunette woman from earlier.

"Wait!" Ruby suddenly came in, hands raised, facing the demon"Please. I just came here to talk."

"You made it out of the gate," the demon grinned, raising one brow. "Impressive. That was a bitch of a fight, wasn't it?"

"Doors out of Hell only open for so long."

"What do you want, Ruby?"

"I've been lost without you." Ruby advanced forward. "Take me back. That's why I led the Winchesters and Argent here." Dean mouthed 'I told you so" to Sam. "They're for you... a gift."

"Really?" The demon gave a dead-pan stare to the blonde.

"Let me serve you again. I've wanted it—" Ruby gabe her a look, they were only a few inches apart at this point, "I've wanted you – for so long."

Aria rose her eyebrows at that. Dean was taken back, pursing his lips at the scene.

"You were one of my best." Ruby pulled out her knife and tried to stab the demon who caught it in mid-air. "But then again, you were always a lying whore." The knife was thrown across the floor. As both demons were fighting, Elizabeth dumped a few things into a cloth. The demon began to cough and as it gradually got worse, the magical grip on Dean, Aria, and Sam loosened and they fell from the wall.

As the demon was distracted by killing Elizabeth, Dean grabbed Ruby's knife and stabbed the demon from behind multiple times, her erupting in an orange color before dropping dead.

Aria stared in surprise at the act of violence, but pulled herself into a standing position before making her eyes over to Sam, hoping to help him.

"Hey," Dean was suddenly on the other side of Sam, helping Aria help his brother up. They turned to stare at Ruby before leaving the house.

"SO..." ARIA LOOKED over at Dean, a grin coming to her face. "How did it feel to get cramps?" He made a face at her. "Did you want some chocolate? Maybe a teddy bear to cuddle with?" Sam and Aris chuckled loudly at the face Dean made.

"Haha. Real funny," Dean spoke sarcastically.

"You're right. It was funny." Aria held her head high, looking proud of herself.

Dean rolled his eyes, turning the lights off to the motel room, a small smile tugging on his lips as he hears Aria and Sam snickering in the dark room.
