The Colosseum
Name: Bova
Age: 27 to 33 {Depends on Roleplay}
Gender: Male
Pronouns: He/Him
Height: 7'2"
Species: Minotaur
Sexuality: Asexual
Appearance:
Personality:
Bova is a generally quiet guy who doesn't talk much upon first interactions. He normally comes off as distant because of his lack of speech, and overall lack of friendly interactions.
When you manage to successfully befriend Bova, he'll seem a bit more talkative, and will be more open about his emotions, anything that may concern him, etc. He'll also be more willing to try and make jokes when he's found a friend. It's difficult for him to express emotions in the first place, so friendship can be highly valued by Bova. He just doesn't normally seek out friendship to begin with. It would have to be introduced to him instead.
As a result of being often compared to a monstrous beast, Bova normally limits himself to basic actions, little speech, and so on- just to avoid being perceived as a large and intimidating beast. It also due to this common perception that he sometimes pushes others away, refusing to form any kind of bond, friendship, relationship, etc.
Bova isn't happy. He normally says that he's happy with the life he has, but that's a lie. A big fat lie that is told just to avoid burdening others with his issues. Plus, he figures that others don't need to know about how he feels. It isn't their business.
Bova may push others away from him in a harsh manner, though this can be if he already has a build up of issues in mind, or if he is annoyed to the point of acting out harshly.
Although subtle, Bova has minor anger issues. It's easy to anger him. So it's best to avoid angering him in the first place.
Likes:
Bova, likes birds. Things like hummingbirds, sparrows, finches.. small birds. He shows a bit of curiosity for things that are small, and wonders how small creatures perceive the world.
Bova favors products that contain apples, more specifically-- he likes apple pie the most.
Okay so, Bova would highly appreciate any sort of home cooked, full fledged meal. He often eats basic fruits and vegetables when living in the colosseum, so if one were to provide him with a delicately crafted meal, he would show large amounts of appreciation for it, as he's not used to such things being provided to him.
A more subtle thing Bova tends to admire is small details put into things. It's funny how such a large being would see such small details.
Dislikes:
Large bodies of water. Like the ocean for example. Bova doesn't know how to swim. He was never taught. It's because of this that he fears falling into the ocean and being unable to reach the surface.
His tail. It tends to display his emotions rather easily, which was the initial cause of such a dislike to form.
Snakes. Like, specifically venomous ones. He has a low tolerance to snake venom, which means that he can and probably will quickly die to snake venom. And we're talking normal snakes here. Not snake people, nagas, whatever. Just normal snakes that conveniently have venom.
Receiving scars. Scars tell stories, and those scars tend to stand out a lot more on a being that has fur. Bova doesn't like his scars.
Liquor, or any kind of strong alcoholic beverage. It isn't very favorable.
People trying to feed him f~cking hay.
Job(s):
This doesn't necessarily count as a job persay, but he is technically doing some kind of 'work'. Bova fights in a colosseum almost daily. He's known to be one of the more stronger beings in the collosseum.
Backstory:
Bova was placed in an orphanage just a few months after birth. A war was taking place in his home lands, so his parents sent him off to an orphanage in another kingdom to spare his life from the ongoing war.
Bova stayed in the orphanage up until the age of 12. It was at that age that he was taken in at the colosseum. It wasn't nice there, to put it simply. Bova ended up having to train vigorously to develop strength, while also having to endure harsh treatment from the workers there.
Bova started being put into the arena around the age of 16. He did decently at fighting while in his teens, with only a few close calls in the arena and a few small losses in fights. In his teens, Bova was occasionally granted the ability to wander around town with a small bit of an 'allowance' to get himself something in town. He often visited the bakeries to get himself slices of apple pie. It practically became a little tradition of his.
But as Bova reached adulthood, he started going out less and less, eventually stopping altogether. He might be able to leave the arena for a bit of time, but he could never truly escape from the kingdom that he now lived in. Since leaving or escaping didn't seem like an option, Bova simply gave up on the concept entirely. He started keeping himself confined to the colosseum grounds in his 20s.
In his mid to late 20s, Bova started getting hired for things outside of the colosseum. This mostly included temporarily protecting members of the royal family.
When Bova would turn 30, the colosseum would close down entirely, the creatures that were 'owned' by the colosseum would head separate ways before the colosseum workers could try and make a living wage by selling the creatures off to other people.
Bova was one of the many who left with no issues. It was that easy, huh? In his early 30s, Bova would spend his time searching for his family. But he would also search for work, in order to make money.
Abilities:
Bova doesn't have any special abilities, but he has strengths instead. Bova tends to be known for his brute strength. It's best not to start a brawl with him.
His horns make for good branches for birds to sit on. But you definitely don't want to receive a puncture wound from his horns.
Bova will progressively gain speed when giving chase to someone. You don't want to be chased. Bova struggles with sharp turns when running fast, so this is an option if you need to get away from the minotaur.
Bova is decent when it comes to the use of two-handed weapons. Bova particularly favors the double-sided axe.
Other:
Scenarios with Bova should all have a medieval fantasy theme.
Scenario One: {Your somewhere in your thirties. Or maybe late 20s.}
You had heard about the closing down of a colosseum in a Kingdom not too far off from where you live. Such a place closing down was an easy explanation for the oncoming creatures that were far from seeming relatively 'human'. Harpies, nagas, some centaurs even..! Most just kinda passed through your town. Some asked for work, but were denied that.
You, you owned a large farm. This town you lived at was relatively rural in comparison to the kingdom that these individuals were coming from. None had come up to you yet asking for work. Which was a bit odd, because you actually had work to offer.
As the days went on, there grew to be less and less creatures appearing in town. One day though, there was a minotaur. You hadn't seen such a being before, so it's appearance honestly caught you off guard for a moment. But, the minotaur would walk over to you and your farm, and asked a simple question. "Do you have work here that I could do?" The minotaur asked.
A minotaur of great strength was perfect for the work you had to offer at your farm. But, would you turn this one down? Or would you offer him work?
You..?
Scenario Two:
Make It Up.
