This is original and it'll shine some light on a topic that is really close to me.

So, scoliosis is an abnormal curvature of the spine, the spine curves and its not supposed to, basically. And its actually really common. It runs in families and when a curve gets to be a 60 degree curve, that's when surgery becomes an option. To slow down the curving, one will be either put in a hard brace or a soft brace. If given the choice, always go soft brace because the hard brace restricts a lot of spine movement. It is a simple surgery, it is really safe, and it is worth it. My sister actually had scoliosis and she had to have surgery, and then about a year later we all walked Disney World and she didn't feel any of the pain she had before. They put two titanium rods along her spine and she's perfectly fine now. And, actually, she beat the odds because there was a 1 in a million chance that she wouldn't be put in the ICU, but she didn't have to go. Scoliosis is found in more people than people realize and it doesn't keep people from doing what they love because there is an Olympic gymnast with scoliosis and she doesn't show any signs of it slowing her down. Sometimes you can see scoliosis when your hips or shoulders don't line up. And, since it runs in families, I have it! But its not bad yet.
