Gerald Ivy - Caffinated Justice

Bio:

Name: Gerald Ivy
Age: 23
Sex: Male
Sexuality: Straight
Species: Human
Appearance: Gerald is a human standing at 176cm tall, with green eyes, a physique most similar to that of a swimmer and a long mop of dark brown hair with the fringe removed so as not to impair his vision. He wears a navy blue trenchcoat, with three pockets over his chest on the outside and two on the inside, with one waist pocket on each side. Underneath this, he wears a bulletproof vest, with three black straps on each shoulder to secure it in place, as well as three around each side of his waist. Beneath this article, he wears a navy blue t-shirt and black slacks, with a black belt and gun holster around his waist. On the inside of his coat, behind on of his chest pockets, he wears his police badge.
Personality: Gerald is a snappy man, with a sarcastic streak and cynical outlook. He often acts superior to others, whether or not he intends to. Despite this, he is intensely protective of those he finds innocent, weak or agreeable. When provoked, he is vengeful and determined, working to solve his problem, whether that be an idea, a case or a person.
Likes: Gerald loves coffee, to the point where his colleagues and friends will often joke that he is obsessed with it. Sometimes, he may go with it, sometimes he will vehemently deny it. He also likes firearms, more specifically his own firearm (Nemesis), dogs and justice, liking traits in people such as loyalty, intelligence and wisdom.
Dislikes: Gerald hates tea and liquorice, finding them disgusting items of nourishment. He also hates alcohol for the effect it has on him, which carries over to just about anything mind altering. Of course, as befits his role in life, he dislikes thieves, liars, killers and any other variation of criminals. Character traits that earn his ire are hyperactive, annoying, evil, insanity and stupidity.
Backstory: Gerald is a young man who has achieved a decent amount in his life. The son of the Heiress of the noble family Ivy and the third son of the Redwalt, he had a good start to life, which has served him well. Although not exemplary enough to become renowned on a national or global scale, he has managed to become proficient in a number of mental pursuits. Despite this, however, since being a small child he has always felt that his calling was helping people. Thus, taking after his father, he followed the path of a detective for the police, proving effective within the situations proposed by the academy he attended. Despite his preferred role as a detective, being the wrong place at the right time has lead to him discovering that he makes an acceptable first responder.

Scenarios:

1. You've known Gerald for a long time. A simple sentence, but an interesting ride. You've seen him come from a childish, excitable, spoiled dreamer of a child, until he matured into the efficient, snide and sarcastic officer that has managed to somehow emerge with a friend despite his incredible lack of positive social skills. It had been a few months since you've heard from the snappy man, presumably working on a case or submerging himself in something or other. It was admittedly a tad worrying, since usually he usually checked in much earlier than this, but he'd needed failed to check in before, so why would it be any different now?
It was a day, the same as any other, when suddenly you heard (A: The intercom in your apartment sputter to life, announcing that a man calling himself Gerald wanted to see you, B: A knock on the door, three sharp raps delivered within 6 six seconds, with a gap of 3 seconds before repeating it, or C: A ringing of your desk phone made itself at home in your ears, demanding that you answer it or it will annoy you for the rest of eternity.)
Your move.

2. You're a criminal, immersed in the world's underbelly. Whatever you do, you do it pretty well. Well enough, in fact, that you have yet to be caught. What's stressing you lately though, you've messed up. You realised, just before you were able to flee, that you'd left behind a clue. It wasn't DNA, thankfully, but it was a start. It was slowly eating away at you, the knowledge that if the police were smart, they'd be able to catch you and throw you away in jail. You were in a cafe one day, sipping away at your favoured beverage, when you saw a man with brown hair walk into the establishment. Gerald, his name was. You'd overheard him chatting to the cashiers occasionally, though most of them had begun to get tired of him. He really liked coffee, apparently, though you didn't know much else about him. For some reason, you felt compelled to keep watching him, likely the boredom and nerves. He reached into his coat for his wallet, left hand holding the clothing open while his right received the item, when a glint of metal caught your eye. You could swear you could feel your cloud freeze in your veins when you recognised the metal, a police badge. Was he there to arrest you? Had you already been caught out? Were you going to regret leaving your weapon at home? These thoughts and more whizzed through your head, until a soft tap broke you from your trance, a raised eyebrow and a certain brown mop of hair greeting you. "Hey. Most people would ask if this seat was free, but I'm not blind, sooooo..." he said, before shrugging and sitting down across from you. He took a sip from his cup, the action drawn out and strained. When it ceased, he lowered the cardboard container to the table, looking directly into your eyes with an even glare. "So. I know my coat is inspiring, but is there any particular reason you were staring at me?" He asked, his words drawn and measured.

3. Okay, while this isn't a scenario yet, I do actually have a RWBY version of Gerald ready, so if you like to play with that or just see it, ask and I'll add it. For now, though, I'll leave this like this, due to the extra time it'd take and the modifications I'd have to do to bring it up to my current standards.

4. Magic and science. Both were ancient medieval practices, both scorned and loved throughout history, depending on how it was used. However, when the Age of Enlightenment passed, people struck upon a major magical discovery, three brothers and three sisters discovering how to manipulate supernatural energies. Although the power they discovered would later be known as Mana, the lifeblood of the universe, others would go on to discover and harness the more spiritual Qi, a force flowing through all living beings that could be manipulated to the wielder's advantage. The family went on to teach others of their art, becoming known around the world collectively as the Genesis. Usually, it was noted that males would develop magics related to controlling the world around them, or augmenting their strength, while women would usually develop magics more attuned to utility, developing multiple abilities much faster than their male counterparts. Of course, that was noted by the nineteenth century to be a trend, not a rule.
Of course, man's list for knowledge could never be sated, so as magic developed, scientists developed science, leading to the discoveries that we all know and love in today's time. In Melbourne, Australia, there is a school devoted to magical practices, teaching the next generation how to practice magic without accidentally causing destruction to others. The graduates of this year's course have just been let out of school, smiles on their faces and knowledge in their minds. Well, they were let out a week ago, but that's not important. What is important, however, is that you're in a cafe, when a man with scruffy brown hair has just walked in, though the push/pull door opened before him, without his physical input. Oh boy, a magic user.

5. If you would like, you can create your own scenario.

Special edition: (So, since I'm lazy and essentially use the same base character with differences for different universes, occasionally I use them in different fandoms. When I do, I'll but that up, but it does require some changes in form to fit that universe.)

(RWBY)

Name: Gerald Ivy
Age: 22
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Straight
Species: Dog Faunus
Appearance: Gerald stands at 194 cm tall, with a build that speaks of years of hard work, but manages to remain relatively normal upon first glance. His eyes are a shining emerald, his hair an unkempt mess of light brown tangles with a pair of chocolate coloured canine ears, usually standing alert. His nose notably has as leathery texture around the tip, which is a slightly off shade of cream as opposed to the rest of his white skin. If left alone long enough, he would start to grow a brown beard, but he shaves it whenever possible, as while it's certainly possible for a 17 year old to grow a beard, he figures he's better off not giving others the idea to look at his age.
He wears a tan trench coat with two pockets on either hip, on on his left breast and a small series of badges, mostly collectable badges from comic books or book series that he enjoyed.
Underneath this, he wears a dull green bulletproof vest, which protects the plain navy blue t-shirt he wears beneath it. To protect his legs, he wears a pair of baby blue tracksuit pants, with light armour padding over his knees and the lower leg area.
As for accessories, aside from his badges, he wears a silver analogue watch on his left arm and a pair of black leather gloves. If he was ever to rejoin the VPD, he would likely wear his badge on the inside of his coat, mirroring his other badges.
Personality: Gerald is a acerbic person, quick to retort and even quicker to use snark at nearly any given opportunity. He is very quick to voice his opinions on a certain situation, usually the negative connotations or reactions a certain set of actions could cause, but can usually be dragged into doing things he doesn't like with simple stubbornness. While this is mostly just because he can't be bothered acting how he should against it, he is a lot more stubborn himself when he is free to stop pretending to be a kid again. Though he is often seen as cold and annoying, he is quite warm and accepting, given he doesn't hate you. He just has a... curious way of showing it.
Aura colour: Purple.
Semblance: Trial
Trial is a reactionary semblance, making Gerald a strong point defender and area control specialist. It enables him to expend an amount of aura similar to Ruby Rose in order force the world to anchor time to a certain area, in effect allowing him to temporarily move faster than most can conceive. However, he may only move within the area he anchors, which is a circle of 2 metres in diameter. If he leaves the area, Remnant retaliates for his overstepping of it's laws, which brings with it a hefty additional aura cost can a considerable amount of pain, which worsens as his aura lowers. Because this is still a new ability to him, most of his uses of it are very, very intentional, or reflexive, which is both a hinderance and help.
Weapon: Nemesis Cry
Nemesis Cry is a black handgun, simple in design and function. It lacks the ability to mechashift, however as such has much more raw power than weapons that feature shift, due to the internal space freed by the lack of such a function and the lack of need for every part to be able to move and fold in order to change shape allowing for more brute force to be applied. It has a emits sound when it fires, similar to the cry of a higher pitched cry of a Beowulf.
Faction: Vale, Beacon.
Alignment: Good Neutral - Acts True Neutral
Crush: Open
Backstory: Gerald Ivy was a regular kid, as far as faunus hunters in training went. He completed four years at Signal Academy, though was unable to keep his combat scores high enough to enter the Hunter courses due to a few problems. His first was his general indifference to problems and issues around him, the boy usually focused inwards. His second problem was his lack of a semblance, the ability stubbornly refusing to appear to him, which lead into his third problem; his lack of natural combat prowess. That wasn't to say he wasn't a good fighter, as he was still a hunter in training, but he simply lacked the heightened ability that not having a semblance called for. So, he dropped out of the Hunter course in his third year, spending the final year of Signal to prepare for a job in the police force, which he figured was the closest he could come to being a hunter.
Skip forward 4 years of police training, basic forensic science and light duty and Gerald is a detective working for the VPD, his aura and limited hunter training providing an edge that a number of others don't have. This, combined with his semi-young looks has found him selected for a task that was decided necessary when the VPD found sources of a scuffle between two unknown groups outside of the city, one in possession of what appears to be a pyrokinetic semblance and one leaving massive environmental changes in their wake. The task is to infiltrate Beacon Academy and report on what is happening within the school. He was officially discharged from the police force to prevent allegations of the Vale government spying on what is an independent operation, the man's records changed and altered, the VPD removing every bit of appear trail they could. Before he was discharged, as luck would have it, during his last case working for the VPD during a raid, his semblance made itself known in particular way.
Other: He knows Yang, if only in passing and was taught by Qrow and Taiyang, as were all students of Signal. His father was a sergeant in the VPD, now retired, and his mother is a Vacuan huntress, the last member of her team to remain freelance.

Scenarios:

1. The Kingdom of Vale. Widely regarded at a paradise even among the kingdoms, you honestly didn't get it. The weather wasn't an extreme, it was just always in the middle. While that sounded nice, it meant it was unpredictable, so you looked outside and never knew if it would be sunny or pouring with rain. It was much better where you were from, at least it was usually predictably (V: Hot, A: Snowing, Mi: Overcast, Me: Actually... not that different, really). Nonetheless, you suppose they had one thing certainly going for them: Beacon academy. Widely accepted as one of the better of the four huntsman academies, it brought plenty of budding huntsmen and huntresses in training towards itself and therefor Vale. You would know, you were one of them. The Bullhead was about to take off when a grouchy looking boy with a scowl on his face walked into the bullhead, quickly sitting down in a seat near the rear entrance of the aircraft, which happened to be one row ahead of you. He raised a coffee cup to his mouth and though you couldn't see his expression due to sitting behind him, judging by his shoulders, his face would have likely relaxed from the stormy countenance he had previously held. Now that you think about it, there was something else you could see from behind him. A long brown set of canine ears, currently flopped down in disuse. That must have made him a Faunus... how curious.
As with the previous two RWBY characters, this scenario has a disclaimer you need to read so you can decide some things that would drastically change the scenario. So, I'd suggest doing that.
Your move!

2. The Fall of Beacon. The peak of villainy, as far as most were concerned. Of course, that was just how it works. Thousands of death, the destruction of not only an academy devoted to training the usually righteous huntsmen and huntresses, but also the lives of hundreds of students who relied on the knowledge of Beacon, as well as the Kingdom of Vale, who relied on it's strength. While some of the surviving huntsmen joined Glynda Goodwitch in her attempts to rebuild everything Vale had lost and some had left for home or for new horizons, others had simply tried to reintegrate with the normal people of Vale. One of them was a former, now double ex-huntsman-in-training, Gerald Ivy. Like many of the failed huntsmen, he feels guilty for his inability to stop the disaster from happening. Unlike others, however, he has picked himself off of the ground, working with some of his colleagues from the VPD to attempt to return some semblance of order in the months following the Fall, founding a militia similar to Glynda's group, though made more of militant normal people than trained people, leading to ridicule towards the group. Nonetheless, they continue, the aforementioned man helping where he can. Strangely, his acerbic attitude seems to comfort some, people believing if he has enough gall to act as he does, then he must be able to fix what has happened.
You were walking through a more quiet part of Vale, when you hear what appeared to be gunshots from a seemingly abandoned building, holes in the roof and walls pockmarking it like dust. Being the inquisitive person you may or may not be, you followed the sounds into the building, finding an open trap door beneath a rug that has been moved aside, where a ladder lead down into a much cleaner, well maintained area, likely a bunker. Gathering your courage, you descended down the ladder, finding quite a sight. Closer to the ladder but just out of sight from above, there were blood spatters on the walls, dried and apparently left there by whatever had caused it. More strangely and worryingly, there was a man in a blue coat standing near the other wall, aiming a gun at something you couldn't see, though it was noticeably in black and moving.
Bang!
Your move!

3. Once again, as with the other RWBY characters, 3 is for a future or older character scenario. This one is similar to the others, but it does have one extra choice. When deciding when in the timeline all this happened, I'll also let you decide whether Gerald graduated Beacon and stayed a huntsman, graduated and rejoined the VPD, was discovered and thrown out of Beacon (I'd also ask whether you'd like this to be before or after the Fall, or if we are just ignoring the Fall altogether), or whether the Fall happened and due to time and necessity, the older huntsman and huntresses who are still alive have gotten stronger by themselves.

4. If you have another scenario you can think of that you'd like to play, go right ahead and tell me! I'll probably go with it.
